• Is it acceptable to design my GLSurfaceView as a main control class?

  I'm trying to structure a game I'm making in Android so that I have a sound, flexible design. Right now I'm looking at where I can tie my games rules engine and graphics engine together and what should be in between them. At a glance, I've been eying my implementation of GLSurfaceView, where various screen events are captured. My rationale would be to create an instance of my game engine and graphics engine here and receive events and state changes to trigger updates of either where applicable. Further to this, in the future, the GLSurfaceView implementation could also store stubs for players during a network game and implementations of computer opponents and dispatch them appropriately. Does this seem like a sensible design? Are there any kinds of improvements I can make? Thanks for any input!

I thought about fetching the header with curl but then I have to store it somewhere for each file and perform a date comparison.   Beginners and professional, on blogs, in forums and chatrooms - people say it everywhere: C++ oh dear god no The short form of the question: For what reason is C++ so widely disliked and people are horrified by the imagination of using it for some project? I have been using a lot of different languages, including C++ by now, and I can only say that I really like it. I'm far more horrified by Delphi than by C++. Actually, I find it's an almost perfect, compiled language! I've been doing a lot of different projects in C++ as well, ranging from 3D video games to webservers and emulators for old video game consoles. And I still do not see the problem everyone else seems to have with it!

  I'm interested in creating companion apps to several current Android apps and was curious if there is a legal issue with using their name and/or icons from the app. Like the companion app being called Angry Birds Companion or something and you were to use a picture of the level or one of the characters, etc (I'm simply pulling from thin air so don't judge the idea, just the question, please).   So I have been working on a game in HTML5 canvas and noticed that the games lags and performs much slower when hardware acceleration is turned on in Google Chrome then when it is turned off. You can try for yourself here From doing some profiling I see that the problem lies in drawImage. More specifically drawing one canvas onto another. I do a lot of this. Hardware Acceleration on. Hardware Acceleration off. Is there something fundamental I am missing with one canvas to another? Why would the difference be that profound?

• Why I can not find my Iphone device in xcode

  I have added my iphone as device and associate it with provisioning. Then I download the newest provisioning and install it (I have successed added ipad as test device before). Now, in the "Organizer", I can see the iphone device but when I connect iphone device I can not find the iphone device to run my app. My software version is 4.2.1, is it the version not the latest that lead to this problem?   On 2 separate machines in completely different environments (work, home) I've been unable to compile libCURL out of the box. Running nmake -f Makefile.vc mode=dll VC=10, I get an unresolved external symbol errors for _IdnToAscii and _IdnToUnicode. I believe the definitions are in Normaliz.lib, which is referenced in LFLAGS, but it either isn't finding it or the version I have doesn't have those functions. But I don't see any option to download this file...anyone have a good solution short of commenting out the 2 lines that use these functions?

Unfortuneatly the URL is in the form of a PHP script i.e. www.website.com/generatefilename.php?file=5233 If you visit the link in a browser, you are prompted to download the actual file and extension. I need to send this link to the downloader, but I can't send the downloader the PHP link. How would I get the full file name in a usable variable?
