Latest study from security software vendor Panda Security finds that most small and midsized businesses are worried about cybercrime, but haven't much of a clue how to prevent it.
I have a large software website and on each application we let users add comments, reviews and so on. Each of these pages are called for example "Comments About Firefox", "Firefox Reviews" and so on.
If we don't have any reviews or we for some reason KNOW that the visitor from Google would be disappointed should we add "noindex" to that page? Or should we just let Google decide if they want to rank us or not?
<b>Datamation:</b> "It's not like Google was ever going to be a showcase customer for Microsoft, but a report that the search giant is phasing out Microsoft Windows underscores security concerns that have long dogged the widely-used software."
My company just canceled the project I was working on because they were dissatisfied with how it was going. I was quite disappointed with it because I thought the project was going well and I had already explained the limitations that the software would have due to the time constraints. I have decided that I will now look for a new job, but I am worried the project ending badly may give me some difficulties. Any advice on how I can minimise the difficulties this causes me without being dishonest?
Is it possible to reset the connection of a USB device, without physically disconnecting/connecting from the PC?
Specifically, my device is a digital camera. I'm using gphoto2, but lately I get "device read errors", so I'd like to try to do a software-reset of the connection.
From what I can tell, there are no kernel modules being loaded for the camera. The only one that looks related is usbhid.
Ubuntu 12.10 is so slow and a lot of not responding applications I was using Skype whenever i open it it will go to non-responding state thin back to normal after a while even the software centre the system process is eating the CPU I don’t know if the compiz is the problem but issuing the command compiz --replace restore the applications from non-responding state CPU : Intel Celeron D 3.4 RAM : 1 GB VGA : Intel G45
Plz help
I've just installed Ubuntu 12.10 64bit on dual boot with windows 7.
I've been looking for a lot of the things people say to download, like myunity
but when I search in the software center, nothing comes up, just stuff like magazines.
Do I need to add some ppas for it to see them?
What are some that I should add on a new install?
And can anyone help me get myunity on here so I can start customising my desktop?
Thanks

Load testing used to be a standard part of the software development, but not anymore. Now people express a preference for assessing performance on the production system. There is a lack of confidence that a load test reflects what will actually happen in production. In essence, it has become accepted that the value of load testing is not worth the cost and time, and perhaps whether there is any value at all. The main problem is the load test plan criteria – excessive focus on perceived importance...(read more)

I am looking for a good book about parallel programming with focus on C++. Something suitable for a person reasonably good in C++ programming, but with no experience in concurrent software development. On the other hand, I'd prefer a practical book, without loads of silly examples about philosophers eating lunch.
Is there a book out there that's the de-facto standard for describing best practices, design methodologies, and other helpful information on parallel programming with focus on C++ ? What about that book makes it special?
Nowadays, in order to successfully manage various and complex projects, a project owner has access to a multitude of web based software covering key areas of focus such as scheduling, cost control, budget management, resource allocation, documentation and communication. Managing projects becomes time and resource saving also maximizing collaboration between team members that, in certain situations must stay connected to the partial outcomes.
I'm currently looking for a good reference/guide for design patterns and in my search I've found the following three books highly recommended:
Design Patterns: Elements of Reusable Object-Oriented Software
Pattern Hatching: Design Patterns Applied
Design Patterns Explained: A New Perspective on Object-Oriented Design
I can't decide which book (if any) to purchase. So, my question is this: What are the fundamental differences between these books?
I'm based in the UK and have been working as a Software Engineer for the past two years. My company has asked me to provide some training courses that I'd like to go to in the next year.
My work currently is primarily in PHP. Although in the past I've dabbled in Python and spent a few months working on a Ruby on Rails project.
Does anyone have any training course recommendations that I should attend?
