• GXT - link two components height

  Hi! I want to have a panel, with two columns. The first column will contain a list of beans, and the right one a form panel for editing those beans. What I want to do, is that list height is the same as height of the form panel on the right. My list of beans will be larger and larger over time, so it's height will probably exceed form height. When that happens, there should be a scrollbar showed for the list. I also don't want to set explicit size for list and my form panel (it should be flexible because some time I will add or remove some form fields). I'm basically new to GXT. • HTML-like GUI Framework in Java

  I was recently brought onto a project where we are developing a lot GUI elements for BlackBerry devices. The standard RIM APIs are pretty basic, almost never do what is required and are difficult or impossible to extend, so we end up re-implementing chunks of it. Currently the code we have isn't super organized and factored so there are lots of little tricks that get implemented over and over again. I had a thought about how to aid development efforts on this platform and wanted to see if the community could tell me if I'm still sane or if I've gone totally nuts. By far, the biggest organizational problem I've run into is making sure that each screen is laid out properly with proper padding and such. The current approach is to manually keep track of padding like so: protected void sublayout(int width, int height) { final int padding = 5; int y = padding; int x = padding; layoutChild(_someChild, width - padding * 2, height / 3 - padding * 2); setPositionChild(_someChild, x, y); y += _someChild.getHeight() + padding; // Calculate where to start drawing next. /* ... snipped ... */ } As you can see, positioning elements on a screen is a nightmare due to the tedium. I have investigated other GUI frameworks but, for a variety of reasons, it is difficult to find one that suites our purposes. One potential solution that came to me is to create a GUI framework who's API resembles HTML/CSS. This would allow for things like padding, margins, borders and colours to be handled through a sort of CSS API while the content would be organized using the HTML part of the API. It might look something like this: public class OptionsScreen extends Document { public OptionsScreen() { // You would set the style (like CSS style) through the constructor. Here's what I've got so far (PHP/STAT ... FTP/CURL): dev ino mode ... LIST * nlink uid ... LIST * gid ... LIST * rdev size ... SIZE (or better still, use from LIST) atime mtime ... MDTM ctime blksize blocks *How is FTP LIST used and parsed (preferably on a single file)? What I need most are the values for atime and ctime, there rest is to be filled for the sake of having full functionality. My end goal is to have a class for proper FTP access with streamWrapper functionality (so as to bypass allow_url_fopen). Cheers!

• how to make DIV show up on top of other Divs

But that is not what I want, I need all other divs stay where they are, and my hidden FAQ section just float on the top. Not sure how to do it. • It is only uploading first row's file input

  I have a application which you can access here. If you open the application please click on the "Add" button a couple of times. This will add a new row into a table below. In each table row there is an AJAX file uploader. Now the problem is that if I click on the "Upload" button in any row except the first row, then the uploading only happens in the first row so it is only uploading the first file input only. Why is it doing this and how can I get it so that when then the user clicks the "Upload" button, the file input within that row of the "Upload" button is uploaded and not the first row being uploaded?   Hi all, I have a method void foo(list<shared_ptr<Base>>& myList); Which I'm trying to call with a two different types of lists, one of DerivedClass1 and one of DerivedClass2 list<shared_ptr<DerivedClass1>> myList1; foo(myList1); list<shared_ptr<DerivedClass2>> myList2; foo(myList2); However this obviously generates a compiler error error: a reference of type "std::list<boost::shared_ptr<Base>, std::allocator<boost::shared_ptr<Base>>> &" (not const-qualified) cannot be initialized with a value of type "std::list<boost::shared_ptr<DerivedClass1>, std::allocator<boost::shared_ptr<DerivedClass1>>>" Is there any easy way to cast a container of shared_ptr? Of alternate containers that can accomplish this?

• Plotting a cumulative graph of python datetimes

  Say I have a list of datetimes, and we know each datetime to be the recorded time of an event happening. Is it possible in matplotlib to graph the frequency of this event occuring over time, showing this data in a cumulative graph (so that each point is greater or equal to all of the points that went before it), without preprocessing this list? (e.g. passing datetime objects directly to some wonderful matplotlib function) Or do I need to turn this list of datetimes into a list of dictionary items, such as: {"year": 1998, "month": 12, "date": 15, "events": 92} and then generate a graph from this list? Sorry if this seems like a silly question - I'm not all too familiar with matplotlib, and would like to save myself the effort of doing this the latter way if matplotlib can already deal with datetime objects itself.

  Hi, does BlackBerry has any possibility to track focus or scroll change direction? I will describe a case. On UI we have a list and some horizontal tab bar (tab bar at top and below the list actually). If User is somewhere in the middle of a list and decides to click another tab, it appears a little difficult to put focus on the Tab control, so User scrolls to the first list item and after changes focus to tab (as a result very long operation). The point here How to catch event of horizontal scroll to change currently focused tab? And after if you scroll (by trackball) vertically you go back to list. Possibly you can advice with the right approach how to resolve such issues? Thanks Lyubomyr

  Hi, am working on a project where I want to pull data from different lists in SharePoint and have these data imported into a single list. The list has the same attribute everywhere; it is located in different sites. I have a list which contains all the site names and URL to those sites. The idea is to read from this list all the site names and then go to each one of those sites and try and pull the information from the list under that particular site, in synchronies matter. Data that are pulled from last week’s process do not need to be pulled again. Can someone guide me in explaining what would be the best way to doing this solution? Am using SharePoint 2007

  I want to give default value to a textarea. The code is something like this: <textarea>{{userSetting.list | join:"NEWLINE"}}</textarea> where userSetting.list is a string list, each item of whom is expected to show in one line. textarea takes the content between the tags as the default value, preserving its line breaks and not interpreting any HTML tags (which means <br>,\n won't work). I have found a solution: {{userSetting.list | join:" " | wordwrap:0}} (there is no whitespace in the list). But obviously it is NOT a good one. Any help would be appreciated.

• How can I select a value matching my input from a TypeAhead control using WWW::Mechanize?

  So ordinarily the element I want to pick from a list would be populated on a page and I'd just find it and pick it. But I'm dealing with a control that doesn't populate list elements until some input has been stuck into a text box, after which it gives me a list of recommendations. For an example of the kind of list I'm talking about think of Facebook's "People, Places, and Things" search field. I want to plug a string into this text box, select the same string from the list of recommendations, and submit the form. The issue I'm having right now is I can't seem to get Mechanize to even recognize the field is there. I examine a dump of $mech->find_all_inputs and it isn't listed. Is this kind of field just beyond Mechanize's jurisdiction?

• jQuery mobile swipe spamming and animation

  I have say 5 list items with images inside placed 200px from eachother. I am trying to animate these list items to slide horizontally left if one presses a link with the id = #next or if one swipes left. And vice versa for sliding the list items right. Every click or swipe results in a slide animation of 200px on every list item. I ran into a problem where spamming the #next or #prev button would cancel the current animation and start a new one. This results in list items not sliding 200px+200px+200... but something like this 200px+140px+120... This because like I said the animation is cut and therefore the sliding distance will be shorter. Now I solved this for the clicking event by disabling the button before the animation starts and then re'enabling it on the end callbak function. But this problem is remaining for the swipe event. How can I solve this problem for the swipe event?

• Property trigger in XAML for IsMouseOver fails to set Border.Background

  I'm currently trying to create a ControlTemplate for the Button class in WPF, replacing the usual visual tree with something that makes the button look similar to the little (X) close icon on Google Chrome's tabs. I decided to use a Path object in XAML to achieve the effect. Using a property trigger, the control responds to a change in the IsMouseOver property by setting the icon's red background. The problem with this is that the trigger just isn't working. Nothing changes in the button's appearance. However, if I remove the Background="Transparent" value from the Border object in the ControlTemplate, the trigger does work (albeit only when over the 'X'). I really can't explain this. Setters for any other properties placed in the borderStyle resource work fine, but the Background setter fails as soon as the default background is specified in the ControlTemplate. Any ideas why it's happening and how I can fix it? I know I could easily replace this code with, for example, a .PNG-based image, but I want to understand why the current implementation isn't working. Thanks! :)

• Iterating ListView items in Android

  I want to iterate a list of items into a ListView. This code below is not enough to iterate all the items into the list because of the weird behaviour of getChildCount() function which only returns the visible item count. for (int i = 0; i < list.getChildCount(); i++) { item = (View)list.getChildAt(i); product = (Product)item.getTag(); // make some visual changes if product.id == someProductId } My screen displays 7 results and when there are more than 7 items into the list, it's not possible to access to the 8th item or so.. Only visible items.. Should I use ListIterator instead? Thanks.

  Hello. I am designing a 960px wide layout with an unordered list. Each list item is 240px wide, so 4 list items fit horizontally in a row. I have about 20 rows on the page.... I want every other list item to have a background of #ececec, so my css would be: ul li:nth-child(2n+2){ background-color:#ececec; } This works. The only problem is because there are 4 items in a row (an even #), the next row would be identical, thus rendering background colors on every 1st and 3rd list items in a row. This is not the effect I am looking to achieve. I want the background colors to alternate, creating a grid-like effect. What is the correct css to do so (think a checker board). Thanks!
