  • VS2008 intellisense performance issue with large number of partial static classes

    - by scebula
My question is a follow-up to the issue posted here regarding the Intellisense performance issue when building a large solution in VS2008 that has many partial static classes. Since Microsoft does not seem to be addressing the issue for VS2008, I would like to know if there are other ways around the problem? Waiting for VS2010 is not an option at this time. The proposed solution in the previous post is not practical as some of the partial classes may be regenerated and this would be a maintenance headache.

  • What's your approach to testing iPhone / iPad apps?

    - by R0MANARMY

NOTE This is based on a question asked a few days ago (that has since been heavily edited). Question generated some interesting responses that may be useful to aggregate in one place.

  • More trivia than really important: Why no new() constraint on Activator.CreateInstance<T>() ?

    - by flq
I think there are people who may be able to answer this, this is a question out of curiosity: The generic CreateInstance method from System.Activator, introduced in .NET v2 has no type constraints on the generic argument but does require a default constructor on the activated type, otherwise a MissingMethodException is thrown. To me it seems obvious that this method should have a type constraint like Activator.CreateInstance<T>() where T : new() { ... } Just an omission or some anecdote lurking here?

  • How long does it take each thread timeslice in Windows XP ?

    - by IHawk
I am trying to find out how long does it take each thread timeslice (quantum) in Windows but the only information that I found out is about the clock ticks being from 15 to 20ms or 20-30ms. How can I find this information ? I think it may vary from OS to OS, but I am not certain. I appreciate any suggestion on this subject. Thank you.

  • Cheapest SSL certificates

    - by Aaron Maenpaa
I'm looking for cheap SSL certs for running a personal website over https without triggering Firefox's "you may be facing a man-in-the-middle-attack" response that self signed certs provoke. Nothing particularly fancy, no EV, etc. Any recommendations/where do you get your certificates from?

  • Ensuring the contacts in a Distribution List are displayed with both name and email address

    - by hawbsl
How can I ensure the contacts I add to an Outlook distribution list are displayed with both name and email address? These contacts may not exist in any other address book, just the distribution list. Currently they show up just as an email address (in both columns). Here's roughly the VBA we're using: Do Until RS.EOF //here's where we want to inject RS!FirstName, RS!Surname etc objRecipients.Add RS!Email objRecipients.Resolve RS.MoveNext Loop Set objDistList = contactsFolder.Items.Add("IPM.DistList") objDistList.DLName = "Whatever" objDistList.AddMembers objRecipients objDistList.Save etc

  • Bitwise operations in BC?

    - by user355926
$ bc BC> ibase=2 BC> 110&101 // wanna get 100 (standar_in) 8: syntax error Wikipedia informs that the ops are "|, & and ^". It may be that they work only in certain BC-types or I misread something.

  • Rails / omitted from link_to?

    - by dannymcc
Hi Everyone, I am using a Gem to communicate with FreeagentCentral via their API. I have the following code to display a link to the relevant freeagent project: <%= link_to "#{image_tag('/images/icons/Spinning Beach Ball.png')} Freeagent Project", "#{Freeagent::Base.site.to_s + Freeagent::Project.element_path(@kase.freeagent_id).gsub(/\A\//, '').gsub!(/.xml/,'')}" if @kase.freeagent_id %> The problem - There is a / omitted from the URL which makes the url like this: https://XXXXX.freeagentcentral.comprojects/12345 where it should be: https://XXXXX.freeagentcentral.com/projects/12345 This may be simple, but to me - it's driving me crazy! Thanks, Danny

  • Setting `axes.linewidth` without changing the `rcParams` global dict

    - by mlvljr
So, it seems one cannot do the following (it raises an error, since axes does not have a set_linewidth method): axes_style = {'linewidth':5} axes_rect = [0.1, 0.1, 0.9, 0.9] axes(axes_rect, **axes_style) and has to use the following old trick instead: rcParams['axes.linewidth'] = 5 # set the value globally ... # some code rcdefaults() # restore [global] defaults Is there an easy / clean way (may be one can set x- and y- axes parameters individually, etc)? P.S. If no, why?

  • How Do I Bind a UIButton Property to Another Property?

    - by cygnl7
UIButton eventually inherits from NSObject, and NSObject implements NSKeyValueBindingCreation Protocol. So why can't I bind a UIButton's property to another class' property? [myUIButton bind:@"enabled" toObject:myOtherObject withKeyPath:@"otherObjectBOOLProperty" options:nil]; This results in the warning 'UIButton' may not respond to '-bind:toObject:withKeyPath:options:' What I'm trying to do is bind the enabled state of my UIButton to myOtherObject.otherObjectBOOLProperty.

  • Inspiration and influence of the else clause of loop statements in Python?

    - by Aristide
Python offers an optional else clause in loop statements, which is executed if and only if the loop is not terminated by a break. For an interesting discussion about this neglected commodity, see this question. Here, I just wanted to know: if the very concept of this loop-else construct originates from another language (either theoretical or actually implemented), conversely, if it was taken up in any newer language. May be I should ask the former to Guido, but he surely is a too busy guy for such a futile inquiry. ;-)

  • lisp, differences in assignment functions

    - by johnc
I'm pretty new to lisp, so apologies for what may be a simple question, Whilst I understand the difference between DEFVAR and DEFPARAMETER (defvar only sets undefined variables), and the LET is for local scope only, what is the is the use of SETF as opposed to the other, previously mentioned assignment functions?

  • Bind to Count of items in the DataContext

    - by Organ Grinding Monkey
I want to bind to the Count/amount of items within my DataContext. I have an object, lets say person which has a List<address> as a property. I would like to display the amount of addresses for that person ie: 5 or 6 or whatever the case may be. I've tried {Binding Path=address#.Count} and a few others but that doesnt seem to work. Any help would be appreciated, thanks.
