    How can the font size be changed in Notepad++? I just downloaded and installed Notepad++ v5.4.5 (I have been using UltraEdit for the last 11.5 years) and can not find a menu command for changing the screen font.   • Program to write for you?

    I need a program that can write what you input in it, and "writing" it back on another process, letter by letter, not copying and pasting it back. Basically, I have a insanely huge file that would take me about a month of non-stop keyboard typing and I can't simply control-C to the other program because it doesn't allow pasting text (go figure). I do realize it's quite an unusual question, but I need this to be done by a machine and not myself. Is there any way to be done?

  • Cannot assign a letter to a FAT32 partition

    I have an external hard disk where I have created many partitions to use also in Linux. First two partitions are FAT32. The third is a Truecrypt partition. I cannot assign a letter to the second partition. When I go to Manage disk and right-click on the unassigned partition, most of the options are not enabled. What have I to do to see this partition on my XP PC?

  • Windows RemoteApp deploying software updates, is there a better way?

    We provide an application as a service, over Windows RemoteApp. It's nearly impossible to deploy updates to the software, though, because if even a single user is online then the file is in-use and cannot be replaced. Is there some way to make this possible or easier? If it were possible, I'd be deploying probably 2-3 updates per day. As it is, I sometimes have to go all week without deploying one.

I mean, being able to edit the CSS on the fly, without needing to quit Safari and open it again. That link gives a hint from 2006 which doesn't seem to work on Safari 4. For example, if I hit ';', then 'a' (while in the modern Greek keyboard layout), I get this character: ?. However, I can't figure out how to add the other accents (` and ^, for example).

  • Live Camera capturing and printing software

    I'm running a Haunted House exhibit at my school to raise money, and I had the idea of taking pictures of the "victims"/students remotely with my Sony DSLR camera and then printing and selling the photos as the students exit the haunted House (much like amusement parks do with roller coasters as you go down the final drop, or when one takes pictures with Santa Claus at the mall). Does anyone know of any free/relatively inexpensive software that would allow me to do this? I would prefer Mac-compatibility, but it's not a requirement.

  • Convert word to "JPEG-like" pdf file

    I've got a word document I'm trying to save to an uneditable, unselectable PDF file. Essentially, I'd like it to look like a JPEG, but in PDF format. I'm trying to avoid "printing to tiff, THEN printing to PDF." I'd prefer to go directly from Word to PDF. Additionally, I don't want to add a Password or anything. Does an option exist for this?   • Scoping a home dev server

    Hi. I’m looking to build a multi-purpose home development server. In this post, I’m looking to outline what I want from such a system, and the ‘why’s of it, to some limited extent, and finally, some rudiments of how I’m looking to go about that. I’m mostly a developer, with just about some sysadmin familiarity. So, please excuse, correct me, and suggest on any ignorance which would come across in the following ;-) It will serve the following goals to start with:- NAS (Looking at using ZFS) Source control repo e.g Git server Database e.g MySQL server Continuous Integration e.g Hudson server Other stuff as and when they come up e.g RabbitMQ etc A development sandbox to play around with new stuff I want to achieve a high uptime for 2-5 as much as possible. They should run as independent services and with minimal maintenance. (e.g TurnKey Linux appliances) I’m thinking of running them as individual Xen DomUs. Then, maybe the NAS can be a Dom0 and 6 can be another DomU. The User for this would be mostly me. I can see 2-4 being sometimes used by 2-3 users, but that would be infrequent. I’m looking for a repeatable setup. Ideally I’d like to automate this setup through Chef or Puppet or something similar. Once everything runs, I want to be able to ssh/screen/tmux into 1-6 from my laptop or any other computer on the LAN/on-the-go. My queries are:- Is putting 1-6, all of them on a single box, a good idea? If so, what kind of hardware should I be looking at, for a low-cost, low-power setup? Although not at present, but in future I might be looking at adding audio/media servers to the mix. Would that impact the answers to 1? I have an old Pentium 3 and 810e motherboard combination. Is there any way I could put it to use? I had a look at the Sheevaplug, and was wondering if I could split off the NAS on its own using that. But ruled it out preliminarily due to its reported heating issues. Is it something i should still consider? Thanks in advance Have posted this question previously on SuperUser but no responses yet.   • Why is tortoise-git changing my file permissions?

    I switch between using tortoise git and cmd line git on cygwin very frequently, and lately I've noticed that when I git status via cygwin and no changes are found, then I go to use tortoise git, and right click on a repo then use the "Git Commit - ..." menu item, I get a list of files that have supposedly changed, but of course when review the diff there are no changes to the file contents, it's actually the file permissions which appear to be changed, which git via cygwin does not recognize. So what is wrong with my tortoise git setup?

  • Do I dare clicking Delete Volume instead of Delete Partition?

    I have a VMWare machine with one VM. That VM has a virtual disk which in windows is configured with two partitions and then a lot of slack space, as illustrated here: http://piclair.com/q8g5s What I want to do is delete the partition of 639 GB. However, since it's a dynamic disk, the right menu item says "Delete Volume" instead of "Delete Partition" (when I right click the 639GB space). My question is weather I dare to use "Delete Volume". I have read doing stuff like this on a dynamic volume can cause other partitions/volumes to go corrupt.

  • xp mode in Windows 7 - capture mouse?

    I'm running Windows 7 but it doesn't quite work right with Starcraft. (Colors are messed up). So I installed Windows XP Mode and I can get it to play starcraft but it changes the resolution to 640x480 and it does not stretch - so it's running in a tiny window in the middle of my screen. (If I resize the VM then the screen either goes blank, or it doesn't resize the contents) Also the mouse isn't captured - the mouse can go inside/outside the virtual pc easily, and it should get stuck on the edges.

Why not just go straight for the noarch? Are there optimizations in the x86 or x64 binaries that aren't found in the noarch binaries? What's best for high performance applications? Now in RD Tabs advanced settings, it's asking server name and authentication method. How should I fill this information?   • Too many TIME_WAIT state connections!

    I've been reading about this everywhere all day, and from what I've gathered, TIME_WAIT is a relatively harmless state. It's supposed to be harmless even when there's too many. But if they're jumping to the numbers I've been seeing for the past 24 hours, something is really wrong! [root@1 ~]# netstat -nat | awk '{print $6}' | sort | uniq -c | sort -n 1 established) 1 Foreign 12 CLOSE_WAIT 15 LISTEN 64 LAST_ACK 201 FIN_WAIT2 334 CLOSING 605 ESTABLISHED 816 SYN_RECV 981 FIN_WAIT1 26830 TIME_WAIT That number fluctuates from 20,000 to 30,000+ (so far, the maximum I've seen it go is 32,000). What worries me is that they're all different IP addresses from all sorts of random locations. Now this is supposed to be (or was supposed to be) a DDoS attack. I know this for a fact, but I won't go into the boring details. It started out as a DDoS and it did impact my server's performance for a couple minutes. After that, everything was back to normal. My server load is normal. My internet traffic is normal. No server resource is being abused. My sites load fine. I also have IPTABLES disabled. There's an odd issue with that too. Every time I enable the firewall/iptables, my server starts experiencing packet loss. Lots of it. About 50%-60% packets are lost. It happens within an hour or within a few hours of enabling the firewall. As soon as I disable it, ping responses from all locations I test them from start clearing up and get stable again. Very strange. The TIME_WAIT state connections have been fluctuating at those numbers since yesterday. For 24 hours now, I've had that, and although it hasn't impacted performance in any way, it's disturbing enough. My current tcp_fin_timeout value is 30 seconds, from the default 60 seconds. However, that seems to not help, at all. Any ideas, suggestions? Anything at all would be appreciated, really!
