• Own DataFormWebPart: Unable to display this Web Part.

  Hi, What I want is to display a paginable list from my custom data source. All came from the fact that I needed some logical relationships between seach scopes and some dates. I considered ContentQueryWebpart, but CAML is too complicated as I have plenty of different conditions, CoreResults webpart is too limited as it uses KeyWordQuery so I inherited from DataFormWebPart to display my own custom search results from my own custom xml source. Thats the best way i am aware of... I knew I needed some configuration to write in my pageLayout like MyWebParts:MyCustomWebPart etc so I went to Designer, put DataFormWebPart on a page, linked it to list of pages, and set multiple item view and that gave me some configuration.. Firstly i checked if DataFormWebPart works when put on pageLayout and it sucessfully displayed my pages list in pages library. But that was not what I wanted, i needed to set my own XML data source... I then changed the configuration of WebPartPages:DataFormWebPart to match mine and detach from any listName or listId and I change the XSL tag to much simplier to display all results and now I am getting: Unable to display this Web Part. To troubleshoot the problem, open this Web page in a Microsoft SharePoint Foundation-compatible HTML editor such as Microsoft SharePoint Designer. • Edit and render RichText

  We have an application (a custom network management tool for building automation) that supports printing labels that you can cut out and insert into the devices' front displays. In earlier versions of the tool (not developed in my company), the application just pushed the strings into an Excel file that the field technician could then manipulate (like formatting text). We didn't do this in the new version because it was hard (impossible) to keep the Excel file in sync, and to avoid a binding to an external application (let alone different versions of Excel). We're using PDFSharp for rendering the labels. It has a System.Drawing-like interface, but can output to a System.Drawing.Graphics (screen / printer) as well as to a PDF file, which is a requirement. Later, basic formatting was introduced like Font Family, Style, Size, Color which would apply to one label (i.e. to exactly one string). Now the customer wants to be able to apply these formats to single characters in a string. I think the easiest way would be to support a subset of RichText. It's not as easy as I thought though. Currently the editor just displays a TextBox for the label you want to edit, with the font set to the label's font. I thought I'd just replace it with RichTextBox, and update the formatting buttons to use the RichTextBox formatting properties. Fairly easy. However, I need to draw the text. I know you can get the RichTextBox to draw to a HDC or System.Drawing.Graphics - but as already said, I need it to use PDFSharp. Rendering to bitmaps is not an option, since the PDF must not be huge, and it's a lot of labels. Unfortunately I couldn't get the RichTextBox to tell me the layout of the text - I'm fine with doing the actual rendering by hand, as long as I know where to draw what. This is the first question: How can I get the properly layouted metrics of the rich text out of a RichTextBox? Or is there any way to convert the rich text to a vector graphics format that can be easily drawn manually? I know about NRTFTree which can be used to parse and manipulate RichText. The documentation is bad (actually I don't know, it's Spanish), but I think I can get it to work. As far as I understood, it won't provide layouting as well. Because of this, I think I'll have to write a custom edit control (remember, it's basically just one or two line labels with basic RTF formatting, not a full-fledged edit control - more like editing a textbox in PowerPoint) and write custom text layout logic that used PDFSharp rather than System.Drawing for drawing. Is there any existing, even if partial, solution available, either for the editing or for doing the layout manually (or both)? Or is there an entirely different approach I'm just not seeing? Bonus points if exporting the label texts as RTF into a CSV file, and then importing in Excel retains the formatting. For the editing part, I need it to work in Windows Forms. Other than that it's not Windows-Forms-related, I think.

• How to fix notifyDataSetChanged/ListView problems in dynamic Adapter wrapper Android

  Summary: Trying to dynamically add heading rows to a ListView via a custom adapter wrapper. ListView is having trouble keeping the scroll position in sync. Runnable demo project provided. I would like to dynamically add items to a list based on the values in a CursorAdapter, several positions ahead of what the user is currently viewing. To do this, I have an adapter that wraps the CursorAdapter and keeps the new content indexed in a SparseArray. The ListView needs to be updated when items are added to the custom adapter, but I have met a lot of pitfalls trying to get that to work and would love some advice. The demo project can be downloaded here: http://dl.dropbox.com/u/15334423/DynamicSectionedList.zip In the demo, the headings are added dynamically by looking ahead 10 places to find the correct position where the list items switch to the next letter. Each implementation of notifyDataSetChanged has problems as described: Demo 1 This demo shows the importance of notifyDataSetChanged(). On clicking anything, the app will crash. This is due to some sanity checking in ListView... mItemCount != adapter.getItemCount(). Moral is, we need to notify the list that data has changed. Demo 2 The natural next step is to notify the ListView of changes when changes occur. Unfortunately, doing so while the ListView is scrolling firmly breaks all touch interaction until the app switches out of touch mode. You will need to "fling scroll" far enough to generate new headings in order to notice this. Tapping the screen will not cause the scroll to stop, and once stopped none of the list items will be clickable. This is due to some if (!mDataChanged) { /* do very important stuff */ } code in AbsListView.onTouchEvent(). Demo 3 To fix this, Demo 3 introduces a pendingChanges flag and the custom Adapter gains a notifyDataSetChangedIfNeeded() which can be called by the ListView once it has entered a "safe" state for changes. The first point where changes must be notified is in ListView.layoutChildren(), so I overrode that method to first notify of changes if needed, then call through. Fling past at least one heading then click a list item. This doesn't quite work right, though I'm not totally sure why. Tapping or selecting an item with the keyboard/trackball causes the list to refresh without properly syncing the old position. It scrolls to the top of the list which is not acceptable. Demo 4 The scroll problem in Demo 3 can be conquered, at least in touch mode. By adding a call to notifyDataSetChangedIfNeeded() on touch down, the data change happens to take place at such a time that all touch interaction works as expected and the list position is properly synced. However, I can't find an analog for that when the device is not in touch mode, not to mention the fact that it definitely seems like a hack. The list almost always scrolls back to the top, I can't find out what causes it to occasionally maintain the correct position. Since Android is fighting me at each step of the way, I feel like there should be a better approach. Please try the demo, if any fixes can be applied to get it working that would be great! • Django manager for _set in model

  Hello, I'm in the progress of learning Django at the moment but I can't figure out how to solve this problem on my own. I'm reading the book Developers Library - Python Web Development With Django and in one chapter you build a simple CMS system with two models (Story and Category), some generic and custom views together with templates for the views. The book only contains code for listing stories, story details and search. I wanted to expand on that and build a page with nested lists for categories and stories. - Category1 -- Story1 -- Story2 - Category2 - Story3 etc. I managed to figure out how to add my own generic object_list view for the category listing. My problem is that the Story model have STATUS_CHOICES if the Story is public or not and a custom manager that'll only fetch the public Stories per default. I can't figure out how to tell my generic Category list view to also use a custom manager and only fetch the public Stories. Everything works except that small problem. I'm able to create a list for all categories with a sub list for all stories in that category on a single page, the only problem is that the list contains non public Stories. I don't know if I'm on the right track here. My urls.py contains a generic view that fetches all Category objects and in my template I'm using the *category.story_set.all* to get all Story objects for that category, wich I then loop over. I think it would be possible to add a if statement in the template and use the VIEWABLE_STATUS from my model file to check if it should be listed or not. The problem with that solution is that it's not very DRY compatible. Is it possible to add some kind of manager for the Category model too that only will fetch in public Story objects when using the story_set on a category? Or is this the wrong way to attack my problem? • .NET 4.0 Dynamic object used statically?

  I've gotten quite sick of XML configuration files in .NET and want to replace them with a format that is more sane. Therefore, I'm writing a config file parser for C# applications that will take a custom config file format, parse it, and create a Python source string that I can then execute in C# and use as a static object (yes that's right--I want a static (not the static type dyanamic) object in the end). Here's an example of what my config file looks like: // my custom config file format GlobalName: ExampleApp Properties { ExternalServiceTimeout: "120" } Python { // this allows for straight python code to be added to handle custom config def MyCustomPython: return "cool" } Using ANTLR I've created a Lexer/Parser that will convert this format to a Python script. So assume I have that all right and can take the .config above and run my Lexer/Parser on it to get a Python script out the back (this has the added benefit of giving me a validation tool for my config). By running the resultant script in C# // simplified example of getting the dynamic python object in C# // (not how I really do it) ScriptRuntime py = Python.CreateRuntime(); dynamic conf = py.UseFile("conftest.py"); dynamic t = conf.GetConfTest("test"); I can get a dynamic object that has my configuration settings. I can now get my config file settings in C# by invoking a dynamic method on that object: //C# calling a method on the dynamic python object var timeout = t.GetProperty("ExternalServiceTimeout"); //the config also allows for straight Python scripting (via the Python block) var special = t.MyCustonPython(); of course, I have no type safety here and no intellisense support. I have a dynamic representation of my config file, but I want a static one. I know what my Python object's type is--it is actually newing up in instance of a C# class. But since it's happening in python, it's type is not the C# type, but dynamic instead. What I want to do is then cast the object back to the C# type that I know the object is: // doesn't work--can't cast a dynamic to a static type (nulls out) IConfigSettings staticTypeConfig = t as IConfigSettings Is there any way to figure out how to cast the object to the static type? I'm rather doubtful that there is... so doubtful that I took another approach of which I'm not entirely sure about. I'm wondering if someone has a better way... So here's my current tactic: since I know the type of the python object, I am creating a C# wrapper class: public class ConfigSettings : IConfigSettings that takes in a dynamic object in the ctor: public ConfigSettings(dynamic settings) { this.DynamicProxy = settings; } public dynamic DynamicProxy { get; private set; } Now I have a reference to the Python dynamic object of which I know the type. So I can then just put wrappers around the Python methods that I know are there: // wrapper access to the underlying dynamic object // this makes my dynamic object appear 'static' public string GetSetting(string key) { return this.DynamicProxy.GetProperty(key).ToString(); } Now the dynamic object is accessed through this static proxy and thus can obviously be passed around in the static C# world via interface, etc: // dependency inject the dynamic object around IBusinessLogic logic = new BusinessLogic(IConfigSettings config); This solution has the benefits of all the static typing stuff we know and love while at the same time giving me the option of 'bailing out' to dynamic too: // the DynamicProxy property give direct access to the dynamic object var result = config.DynamicProxy.MyCustomPython(); but, man, this seems rather convoluted way of getting to an object that is a static type in the first place! Since the whole dynamic/static interaction world is new to me, I'm really questioning if my solution is optimal or if I'm missing something (i.e. some way of casting that dynamic object to a known static type) about how to bridge the chasm between these two universes.

  i am receiving the follwing error when i am invoking a custom object "Object of type 'customObject' cannot be converted to type 'customObject'." Following is the scenario when i am getting the error i am invoking a method in a dll dynamically. Load an assembly CreateInstance.... calling MethodInfo.Invoke() passing int, string as a parameter for my method is working fine = No exceptions are thrown. But if I try and pass a one of my own custom class objects as a parameter, then I get an ArgumentException exception, and it is not either an ArgumentOutOfRangeException or ArgumentNullException. "Object of type 'customObject' cannot be converted to type 'customObject'." I am doing this in a web application. The class file containing the method is in a different proj . also the custom object is a sepearte class in the same file. there is no such thing called a static aseembly in my code. I am trying to invoke a webmethod dynamically. this webmethod is having the customObject type as an input parameter. So when i invoke the webmethod i am dynamically creating the proxy assembly and all. From the same assembly i am trying to create an instance of the cusotm object assinging the values to its properties and then passing this object as a parameter and invoking the method. everything is dynamic and nothing is created static.. :( add reference is not used. • Cocoa QuickLook initiated by NSTableView Cell

  I have an NSTableView that contains 2 different Columns - one is an NSImageCell that shows a file icon, and the second is a custom subclass of NSTextFieldCell that contains a quick look button on the right of the text. When I click the Quick Look button, the following code is invoked: [[QLPreviewPanel sharedPreviewPanel] makeKeyAndOrderFront:nil]; This does it's job and shows the blank Quick Look panel saying "No Items Selected." After I did a bit of research on the internet, I implemented a custom NSTableView subclass to be the Delegate and Data Source for the Quick Look panel. I get the notification that Quick Look asks if I want to be the delegate, and I respond with return YES.   The major shortcomings with Entity-Attribute-Value database designs in SQL all seem to be related to being able to query and report on the data efficiently and quickly. Most of the information I read on the subject warn against implementing EAV due to these problems and the commonality of querying/reporting for almost all applications. I am currently designing a system where almost all the fields necessary for data storage are not known at design/compile time and are defined by the end-user of the system. EAV seems like a good fit for this requirement but due to the problems I've read about, I am hesitant in implementing it as there are also some pretty heavy reporting requirements for this system as well. I think I've come up with a way around this but would like to pose the question to the SO community. Given that typical normalized database (OLTP) still isn't always the best option for running reports, a good practice seems to be having a "reporting" database (OLAP) where the data from the normalized database is copied to, indexed extensively, and possibly denormalized for easier querying. Could the same idea be used to work around the shortcomings of an EAV design? The main downside I see are the increased complexity of transferring the data from the EAV database to reporting as you may end up having to alter the tables in the reporting database as new fields are defined in the EAV database. But that is hardly impossible and seems to be an acceptable tradeoff for the increased flexibility given by the EAV design. This downside also exists if I use a non-SQL data store (i.e. CouchDB or similar) for the main data storage since all the standard reporting tools are expecting a SQL backend to query against. Do the issues with EAV systems mostly go away if you have a seperate reporting database for querying? EDIT: Thanks for the comments so far. One of the important things about the system I'm working on it that I'm really only talking about using EAV for one of the entities, not everything in the system. The whole gist of the system is to be able to pull data from multiple disparate sources that are not known ahead of time and crunch the data to come up with some "best known" data about a particular entity. So every "field" I'm dealing with is multi-valued and I'm also required to track history for each. The normalized design for this ends up being 1 table per field which makes querying it kind of painful anyway. This is actually easier in the EAV model as I can do a single query. In the normalized design, I end up having to do 1 query per field to avoid a massive cartesian product from joining them all together.

• Event receiver on Content Type not triggered on WikiPageLibrary

  Hello all, I created a new content type for a wiki page library. I added this content type to library by code (the interface did not allow this). Next, I added an event receiver to this content type (on ItemAdded and ItemAdding). My problem is that no event is trrigered. If I add this events directly to the wiki page library all works fine. Is there a limitation/bug/trick ? • Problem Implementing StructureMap in VB.Net Conversion of SharpArchitecture

  I work in a VB.Net environment and have recently been tasked with creating an MVC enviroment to use as a base to work from. I decided to convert the latest SharpArchitecture release (Q3 2009) into VB, which on the whole has gone fine after a bit of hair pulling. I came across a problem with Castle Windsor where my custom repository interface (lives in the core/domain project) that was reference in the constructor of my test controller was not getting injected with the concrete implementation (from the data project). I hit a brick wall with this so basically decided to switch out Castle Windsor for StructureMap. I think I have implemented this ok as everything compiles and runs and my controller ran ok when referencing a custom repository interface. It appears now that I have/or cannot now setup my generic interfaces up properly (I hope this makes sense so far as I am new to all this). • StaleDataException: access closed cursor

  In my application, after enough clicking around, I get this error: 06-08 19:47:59.967: ERROR/AndroidRuntime(2429): java.lang.RuntimeException: Unable to pause activity {com.MYAPP.app/com.MYAPP.app.MainActivity}: android.database.StaleDataException: Access closed cursor What I have is a Tab Activity (my MainActivity), which has a ListActivity as the contents for each tab. Inside the onCreate for each ListActivity I get a cursor that represents the data to be displayed in that list. The onListItemClick for each list also creates another activity, so clicking on an item in the list will show more information about that item in a new screen. It's inconsistent, but after enough clicking into these new activities, or going back to the ListView from a new activity, the program crashes. In searching around for a solution to my problem, I did stumble upon registerDataSetObserver, but it doesn't seem to be the whole answer. I am also having trouble finding documentation on it, so I'm not sure I fully understand it. I have a custom ListAdapter that both my ListViews use and have called registerDataSetObservers on the cursors there. I have attached the relevant code from one of my ListActivities and from my custom ListAdapter class. The ListActivity.   I want MSDeploy to skip specific folders and file types within other folders when using sync. Currently I'm using CCNet to call MSDeploy with the sync verb to take websites from a build to a staging server. Because there are files on the destination that are created by the application / user uploaded files etc, I need to exclude specific folders from being deleted on the destination. Also there are manifest files created by the site that need to remain on the destination. • How to write specs with MSpec for code that changes Thread.CurrentPrincipal?

  I've been converting some old specs to MSpec (were using NUnit/SpecUnit). The specs are for a view model, and the view model in question does some custom security checking. We have a helper method in our specs which will setup fake security credentials for the Thread.CurrentPrincipal. This worked fine in the old unit tests, but fails in MSpec. Specifically, I'm getting this exception: "System.Runtime.Serialization.SerializationException: Type is not resolved for member" It happens when part of the SUT tries to read the app config file. If I comment out the line which sets the CurrentPrincipal (or simply call it after the part that checks the config file), the error goes away, but the tests fail due to lack of credentials. Similarly, if I set the CurrentPrincipal to null, the error goes away, but again the tests fail because the credentials aren't set. I've googled this, and found some posts about making sure the custom principal is serializable when it crosses AppDomain boundaries (usually in reference to web apps). In our case, this is not a web app, and I'm not crossing any AppDomains. Our pincipal object is also serializable. I downloaded the source for MSpec, and found that the ConsoleRunner calls a class named AppDomainRunner. I haven't debugged into it, but it looks like it's running the specs in different app domains. So does anyone have any ideas on how I can overcome this? I really like MSpec, and would love to use it exclusively. But I need to be able to supply fake security credentials while running the tests.   Given two related tables (reports, report_fields) where there can be many report_fields entries for each reports entry, I need to allow the user to enter new report_fields, delete existing report_fields, and re-arrange the order. Currently I am using a DetailsView to handle the editing of the reports. I added some logic to handle report_fields, and currently it allows you to succesfully re-arrange the order, but i'm a little stumped as to the best way to add new items, or delete existing items. The basic logic I have is that each report_fields is represented by a . It has a description as the text, and a field for each field in the report_fields table. I use JQuery Sortable to allow the user to re-arrange the LIs. • MVC SiteMap - when different nodes point to same action SiteMap.CurrentNode does not map to the correct route

  Setup: I am using ASP.NET MVC 4, with mvcSiteMapProvider to manage my menus. I have a custom menu builder that evaluates whether a node is on the current branch (ie, if the SiteMap.CurrentNode is either the CurrentNode or the CurrentNode is nested under it). The code is included below, but essentially checks the url of each node and compares it with the url of the currentnode, up through the currentnodes "family tree". The CurrentBranch is used by my custom menu builder to add a class that highlights menu items on the CurrentBranch. The Problem: My custom menu works fine, but I have found that the mvcSiteMapProvider does not seem to evaluate the url of the CurrentNode in a consistent manner: When two nodes point to the same action and are distinguished only by a parameter of the action, SiteMap.CurrentNode does not seem to use the correct route (it ignores the distinguishing parameter and defaults to the first route that that maps to the action defined in the node). Example of the Problem: In an app I have Members. A Member has a MemberStatus field that can be "Unprocessed", "Active" or "Inactive". To change the MemberStatus, I have a ProcessMemberController in an Area called Admin. The processing is done using the Process action on the ProcessMemberController. My mvcSiteMap has two nodes that BOTH map to the Process action. • Deleting unreferenced child records with nhibernate

  Hi There I am working on a mvc app using nhibernate as the orm (ncommon framework) I have parent/child entities: Product, Vendor & ProductVendors and a one to many relationship between them with Product having a ProductVendors collection Product.ProductVendors. I currently am retrieving a Product object and eager loading the children and sending these down the wire to my asp.net mvc client. A user will then modify the list of Vendors and post the updated Product back. I am using a custom model binder to generate the modified Product entity. I am able to update the Product fine and insert new ProductVendors. My problem is that dereferenced ProductVendors are not cascade deleted when specifying Product.ProductVendors.Clear() and calling _productRepository.Save(product). The problem seems to be with attaching the detached instance.   Hi All, I've been programming C# for a while now (I'm a Computer Science major), and have never had to implement threading. I am currently building an application for a client that requires threading for a series of operations. Due to the nature of the client/provider agreement, I cannot release the source I am working with. The code that I have posted is in a general form. Pretty much the basic idea of what I am implementing, excluding the content specific source. The first Snippet demonstrates my basic structure, The Progress class is a custom progress window that is displayed as a dialog to prevent user UI interaction. I am currently using the code to complete database calls based on a collection of objects in another area of the application code. For example, I have a collection of "Objects" of one of my custom classes, that I perform these database calls on or on behalf of. My current set up works just fine when I call the "GeneralizedFunction" one and only one time. What I need to do is call this function once for every object in the collection. I was attempting to use a foreach loop to iterate through the collection, then I tried a for loop. For both loops, the result was the same. The Async operation performs exactly as desired for the first item in the collection. This, however, is the only one it works for. For each subsequent item, the progress box (my custom window) displays and immediately closes. In terms of the database calls, the calls for the first item in the collection are the only ones that successfully complete. All others aren't attempted. I've tried everything that I know and don't know to do, but I just cannot seem to get it to work. How can I get this to work for my entire collection? Any and all help is very greatly appreciated. • WCF Endpoints & Binding Configuration Issues

  I am running into a very strange issue here folks. For simplicity I created a project for the sole purpose of testing the issue outside the framework of a larger application and still encountered what is either a bug in WCF within Visual Studio 2010 or something related to my WCF newbie skill set : ) Here is the issue: I have a WCF endpoint I created running inside of an MVC3 project called "SimpleMethod". The method runs inside of a .svc file on the root of the application and it returns a bool. Using the "WCF Service Configuration Editor" I have added the endpoint to my Web.Config along with a called "LargeImageBinding". I add a service reference to a running instance of the above project, point it to: http://localhost:57364/ServiceTestOne.svc Here is the weird part. The service automatically generates just fine but In the Web.Config the endpoint that is generated looks like this: <client> <endpoint address="http://localhost:57364/ServiceTestOne.svc/ServiceTestOne.svc" binding="wsHttpBinding" bindingConfiguration="WSHttpBinding_IServiceTestOne" contract="ServiceTestOne.IServiceTestOne" name="WSHttpBinding_IServiceTestOne"> As you can see it lists the "ServiceTestOne.svc" portion of the address twice! When I make a call to the the service I get the following error: The remote server returned an error: (404) Not Found. I tried removing the extra "/ServiceTestOne.svc" at the end of the endpoint address in the above config, and I get the same exact error. Now what DOES work is if I go back to the WCF application and remove the custom endpoint and binding references in the Web.Config (everything in the "services" and "bindings" tags) then go back to the consumer application, update the reference to the service and make the call to SimpleMethod()....BOOM works like a charm and I get back a bool set to true. The thing is, I need to make custom binding configurations in order to allow for access to the service outside of the defaults, and from what I can tell, any attempt to create custom bindings makes the endpoints seem to run fine, but fail when an actual method call is made. Can anyone see any flaw in how I am putting this together? Thank you for your time - I have been running in circles with this for about a week!

  Hi everyone, I'm attempting to list all the members in a Active Directory group using ADO. The problem I have is that many of these groups have over 1500 members and ADSI cannot handle more than 1500 items in a multi-valued attribute. Fortunately I came across Richard Muller's wonderful VBScript that handles more than 1500 members at http://www.rlmueller.net/DocumentLargeGroup.htm I modified his code as shown below so that I can list ALL the groups and its memberships in a certain OU. However, I'm keeping getting the exception shown below: "ADODB.Recordset: Item cannot be found in the collection corresponding to the requested name or ordinal." My program appears to get stuck at: strPath = adoRecordset.Fields("ADsPath").Value Set objGroup = GetObject(strPath) All I am doing above is issuing the query to get back a recordset consisting of the ADsPath for each group in the OU. It then walks through the recordset and grabs the ADsPath for the first group and store its in a variable named strPath; we then use the value of that variable to bind to the group account for that group. It really should work! Any idea why the code below doesn't work for me? Any pointers will be great appreciated. Thanks. • Drupal 7 Forms API Conditional Logic not working in IE

However in all versions of IE the form initializes with display:none; style on all of the conditional fields regardless of what the value in account_type is. Changing the selected option of account_type does not effect the hidden status. Any tips on debugging this form would be awesome. Notes: I am not much of a Drupal developer, I inherited this site. • jQuery , Trigger change event on newly created elements

  Hi Guys, I have a button in a form that when clicked adds another set of form fields, In these form fields there are 2 drop downs where the contents of the 2nd dropdown rely on what is selected in the first dropdown... What i want to do is when the new form field button is clicked for the new items to be added and then the change event to be triggered on the drop down that was created so what only that drop down changes and not all the drop downs with the same name currently in that form.   PROBLEM Hello, I am having no luck trying to break down this SQL statement into ActiveRecord/Rails friendly code and I'd like to learn how I can avoid a find_by_sql statement in this situation. Scenario I have users that create audits when they perform an action. Each audit is of a specific audit_activity. Each audit_activity is worth a certain number of points, based on score_weight. I need to find the total scores of each user, based on their total accumulated audit_activity score_weights. Eventually I'll need to rank them which means adding a sort to this as well. My Code Here is my sql and simplified versions of the tables in question. Any thoughts?
