• How to have partial incremental synchronizations based on a GUID?

  I need to synchronize an SQL Server database to Oracle through an Oracle Transparent Gateway. The synchronization is performed in batches, so I need to get the next set of data from the point where I left off. The problem I'm having is that the only field I have in the source, to help me, is a GUID. If it were a number I could just order by it, keep the last one processed and restart the process by getting the records which are my recorded number. This won't work with a GUID. Any ideas?

  I'm trying to use a function to count the number of unique cells in a spreadsheet that, at the same time, meet multiple criteria. Given the following example: A B C QUANT STORE# PRODUCT 1 75012 banana 5 orange 6 56089 orange 3 89247 orange 7 45321 orange 2 apple 4 45321 apple In the example above, I need to know how many unique stores with a valid STORE# have received oranges OR apples. In the case above, the result should be 3 (stores 56089, 89247 and 45321). This is how I started to try solving the problem: =SUM(IF(FREQUENCY(B2:B9,B2:B9)>0,1)) The above formula will yield the number of unique stores with a valid store#, but not just the ones that have received oranges or bananas. How can I add that extra criteria?

• Where to put WPF specific code when using MVVM

  I'm just getting up to speed on MVVM, but all the examples I've seen so far are binding View controls to simple non-WPF specific data types such as strings and ints. However in our app I want to be able to set a button's border brush based on a number in the Model. At the moment, I translate the number into a brush in the ViewModel to keep the View XAML only, but is that right? I don't like putting WPF specific code in the ViewModel, but equally I don't like the idea of putting code-behind on my View panel. Which is the best way? Thanks

  Hi guys. I'm looking to create an options table in my db that makes every record a system option, so I can work with a little number of fields. My db has the following structure: 3 columns named id, name, and value The following data is inserted as an example: +--+-----------+--------------------------+ |id|name |value | +--+-----------+--------------------------+ | 1|uri |www.example.com | | 2|sitename |Working it out | | 3|base_folder|/folder1/folder2/ | | 4|slogan |Just a slogan for the site| +--+-----------+--------------------------+ That way I can include a large number of customizable system options very easily. The problem is that I don't know how to retrieve them. How do I get the value of uri and store it as a var? And better yet, how do I get, for exmaple, values of id 1 and 4 only without making a query each time? (I assume multiple queries are useless and a pretty ugly method.) I know the question is pretty basic but I'm lost here. I'd really appreciate your answer!

  In my python class we are learning about recursion. I understand that it's when a function calls itself, however for this particular assignment I can't figure out how exactly to get my function to call it self to get the desired results. I need to simply count the vowels in the string given to the function. def recVowelCount(s): 'return the number of vowels in s using a recursive computation' vowelcount = 0 vowels = "aEiou".lower() if s[0] in vowels: vowelcount += 1 else: ??? I'm really not sure where to go with this, it's quite frustrating. I can see functions foo1 to foo999 by dir(). however, dir() returns name of such functions, not the functions themselves. In the example, those foo-functions aren't doing anything. However in my program they perform different tasks and I can't automatically generate them. I write them myself, and have to return them by their name.

  hi, I am using jquery ajax method on my aspx page,which will invoke the webmethod in the code behind.Currently the webmethod takes a couple of parameters like firstname,lastname,address etc which I am passing from jquery ajax method using data:JSON.stringify({fname:firstname,lname:lastname,city:city}) now my requirement has been changed such that,the number and type of parameters that are going to be passed is not fixed for ex.parameter combination can be something like fname,city or fname,city or city,lname or fname,lname,city or something else.So the webmethod should be such that it should accept any number parameters.I thought of using arrays to do so, as described here. But I do not understand how can I identify which and how many parameters have been passed to the webmethod to insert/update the data to the DB.Please could someone help me with this? thanks

  Hello Everyone, I am new to design patterns and am trying to learn the MVC implementation. I have written four classes: DataModel DataView DataController Main Main serves as the application facade. The main FLA is called HelloWorld. I have a symbol called "Box" in HelloWorld. I just would like to add an instance of the "Box" on the stage. • C# gridview nested in repeater update

  My current situation is to display an unknown number of Plantypes and within those Plantypes display a list of Participants(also unknown number), the participants have a textbox and a dropdown that is editable (you can't edit the individual rows, there is one update that does a bit of validation then updates all rows.) I currently have a gridview nested withing a repeater, the repeater displays the Plan in a label and OnItemDataBound I call a method to populate the gridviews. It looks great, but I can't figure out how to save all the data at once. I'm not opposed to handling this a different way, as in loose the gridview and or repeater, if someone has a better idea. This is C# and framework 2.0...there is no sorting or paging on the gridviews...just some links and the fields to update. thanks in advance, Padawan

• EnumJobs not returning Copies & Total Pages

  I'm using Windows API's EnumJobs to find the PageCount and Copies of a print job, but I found that these fields are almost always zero when called on a print server. Although it could be my timing is out, because the number of pages increment as the job prints and once it's done the print job cannot be accessed. So there is about half a nanosecond when the values in EnumJobs is correct before it dissapears. I've been scouring the web but can't find any help on this, just other people with similar problems. Anybody with experience with EnumJobs or can suggest other means of determining the total number of pages printed?

  Hi. So I have the (mostly vilified) #define MAX( a, b ) ( ((a) > (b)) ? (a) : (b) ) somewhere in a program (yes, yes, I know). At some point in the code there is a comparison X>-1?, where X is (as far as I can tell) a (signed) integer. The line is j += MAX(bmGs[i], bmBc[(int)y[i + j]] - m + 1 + i);, where y here is a char*. Not necessarily surprisingly, I find that the macro is returning -1 as the larger number (I'm guessing too long a number for int or an unsigned issue, but I can't find it). I would like to know techniques you guys may have for finding these kinds of errors. Notice that I'm not asking for programming advice about whether or not to use that macro, I'm sure folks are dying to tell me I should refrain from things like that, but the question is going somewhere else. • CakePHP: How can I disable auto-increment on Model.id?

  CakePHP 1.3.0, mysqli I have a model, Manifest, whose ID should be the unique number from a printed form. However, with Manifest.id set as the primary key, CakePHP is helping me by setting up auto-increment on the field. Is there a way to flag the field via schema.php and/or elsewhere to disable auto-increment? I need just a plain, old primary key without it. The only other solution I can imagine is adding on a separate manifest number field and changing foreign keys in a half dozen other tables. A bit wasteful and not as intuitive.

  So I'm comfortable with the basic concept of CQS, where you might have a command that writes to one database, and that updates the query database that you read from. However, consider the scenario where you are entering data, and want to prevent duplicates. Using new employee data entry an employee register as an example, working through a pile of application forms to key in the new employees' details: Take top sheet. Key in employee name and unique payroll number to UI. Submit. Put paper in "completed pile". Repeat. How would you now prevent the user from keying in the same payroll number again, say for instance if they get distracted and can't remember whether they've keyed one in already and the "message" hasn't got all the way back to the query db for the user to search?

But MySQL reports 4 unique entries for each level. In other words, number of unique elements for each level is always equal to number of rows in log table. Is that a bug, a feature or my misunderstanding?

  In C# I would create a List then I could add and remove numbers very easily. Does identical functionality exist in Javascript, or do I have to write my own methods to search and remove items using a loop? var NumberList = []; NumberList.Add(17); NumberList.Add(25); NumberList.Remove(17); etc. I know I can use .push to add a number, so I guess it's really how to remove an individual number without using a loop that I'm looking for. edit: of course, if there's no other way then I'll use a loop!:)

  Hi all , Im trying to read in image file from a server , with the code below . It keeps going into the exception. I know the correct number of bytes are being sent as I print them out when received. So the client side is messed up . I have to send the file from the server so I cant use the suggestion suggested by Brian .

  what i need is i have linked my project with the cruise control, so when ever a build happens i want to copy the bin folder to a seperate destination folder with version number. That is when the project build happens for the second time i dont want to replace the bin folder of the first build i want to save this with another version number. How can i do that. Right now i got the thing how to copy the folder but it was overwriting the previous one. i dont want that to happen please help me how to implement the concept of versioning.
