  I have my repeater item template: <ItemTemplate> <tr><td><%#Container.DataItem("Category")%></td></tr> </ItemTemplate> Hooked up to: s = "SQL that works ok on server" x = New SqlCommand(s, c) x.Parameters.Add("@contentid", SqlDbType.Int) x.Parameters("@contentid").Value = contentid c.Open() r = x.ExecuteReader If r.HasRows Then Linksrepeater.DataSource = r Linksrepeater.DataBind() End If c.Close() r.Close() When I run the code I get: Invalid Cast Exception was not handled by user code (Conversion from string "category" to type 'Integer' is not valid.) I'm not sure how / why it is trying to convert "Category" to integer as in the db it is a string. Can you please tell me how to avoid this error? thanks.

  Ive seen Qt GUI syntax like the following all over the place: myDialog::myDialog(QWidget *parent, Qt::WFlags flags):QDialog(parent, flags) { QPushButton *button = new QPushButton("&Download", this); QVBoxLayout *layout = new QVBoxLayout(this); //something that can throw here layout ->addWidget(button ); setLayout(layout); } I've always wondered if this can leak in the event of an exception because the "this" I'm giving as a parent to button and layout is not fully constructed so it might not destroy its children. I tried it out in MSVC2010 Qt4.8.3 and it looks like as soon as the base QObject class is fully created (which is done first of course) it is ok to pass "this" to other objects in the constructor, they will destroyed correctly. I haven't found the spot in the Qt docs guaranteeing this though, can someone point me to it so I have assurance that this will not change in the future?

  I had to do an update in my WebView from the Appdelegate.m I try it like this: [self performSelectorOnMainThread:@selector(loadWebViewWithContent:) withObject:requestObj waitUntilDone:NO]; The loadWebViewWithContent Method works great from ViewController.m, but not from the Appdelegate. I allready wrote this in my Appdelegate.h: -(void)loadWebViewWithContent:(NSURLRequest *)requestObj; Whats wrong? Please help me. I´m still a big Noob in IOS.   Hi guys, I've just updated my nexus one to 2.2...now all of my (own and some from the market) apps throw exceptions and were closed... It's weird, in the app i'm developing atm, there it displays only my start page with buttons, but when i tap on one button to fire an intent to another activity my app gets closed with an exception. Yesterday before the update everything worked fine... The same thing in my emulator: I have two devices, one with API level 7 and one with level 8...Level 7 worked fine, but level 8 killed my app :( What is the problem and how can I solve this? I'm desperatly trying to get it working again :( I hope someone can help me fixing this

• Sending large XML from Silverlight to SVC (WCF)

  Hi! I want to send a big XML string to a WCF SVC service from Silverlight. It looks like anything under about 50k is sent correctly but if I try to send something over that limit, my request reaches the server (BeginRequest is called) but never reaches my SVC. I get the classic "NotFound" exception. Any idea on how to raise that limit? If I can't raise it? What are my other options? Thanks, Alex

  How can I remove a browser's cache server-side, using ASP.NET (C#)? A coupon shows by itself (I believe it comes from cache as I did also browse for other apparel sites). It breaks my JavaScript as well as my server-side code, as I am using an UpdatePanel for Ajax, and it duplicates the UpdatePanel's ID. I have renamed the UpdatePanel's ID, but it makes no difference. It generates "Invalid view State" exception. • Unable to make WMI connection from XP Pro machine to another (not in domain, same workgroup) in C#

  I have two XP Pro SP3 machines. I disabled the firewall in both. The workgroup name is WORKGROUP. I have an administrator account with identical username/password in both.   When I define a to many relationship between entities in Xcode and then generate the data class from the entity I get a header with the following methods defined: @interface PriceList (CoreDataGeneratedAccessors) - (void)addItemsObject:(PriceListItem *)value; - (void)removeItemsObject:(PriceListItem *)value; - (void)addItems:(NSSet *)value; - (void)removeItems:(NSSet *)value; @end When I attempt to call addItemsObject with the following code a doesNotRecognizeSelector exception is thrown.   I am trying to change the color of the text of tabbar item,programmatically. Where I would expect results of A B C D E F, it appears to be returning A C E B D F. Could someone point out the error in my ways please?

  I'm trying to save a file in a subdirectory in Android 1.5. I can successfully create a directory using _context.GetFileStreamPath("foo").mkdir(); (_context is the Activity where I start the execution of saving the file) but then if I try to create a file in foo/ by _context.GetFileStreamPath("foo/bar.txt"); I get a exception saying I can't have directory separator in a file name ("/"). I'm missing something of working with files in Android... I thought I could use the standard Java classes but they don't seem to work... I searched the Android documentation but I couldn't fine example and google is not helping me too... I'm asking the wrong question (to google)... Can you help me out with this? Thank you!

  Having some problems with my Silverlight app (with RIA services) filtering my results. The idea is on the client I set up the EntityQuery and its filters and call load. However this isn't working for me. Heres my code. public void FireQuery(string filterValue) { EntityQuery<Parent> query = m_ParentDomainContext.GetParentQuery(); query = query.Where(p => p.Children.Any(c => c.Name.Contains(filterValue))); m_ParentDomainContext.Load(query, Query_Completed, null); } Compiles just fine, however, runtime I get "Query operator 'Any' is not supported." Exception. Does anyone know of a good way to filter like this? Again, I'm looking for a way to set this up on the client.

I'm using Visual Studio 2010, if thats important. [update] Remember, there is a very important difference between casting and using as. Casting (at least in c#) will throw an exception if the type does not match: Object o = null; String s = (String)o; // will crash.

  I upgraded from 1.1.1 to 1.2.1 and I seem to be getting the following exception when it attempts to connect to MySQL: The last packet sent successfully to the server was 0 milliseconds ago. The driver has not received any packets from the server. at com.mysql.jdbc.Util.handleNewInstance(Util.java:407) at com.mysql.jdbc.SQLError.createCommunicationsException(SQLError.java:1116) at com.mysql.jdbc.MysqlIO.<init>(MysqlIO.java:343) ... Caused by: java.net.ConnectException: Connection refused at java.net.PlainSocketImpl.socketConnect(Native Method) at java.net.PlainSocketImpl.doConnect(PlainSocketImpl.java:333) at java.net.PlainSocketImpl.connectToAddress(PlainSocketImpl.java:195) I've confirmed that MySQL is indeed running and seems to be working fine. The following is the line from my application.conf file (with user/pass/db replaced): db=mysql:username:password@databasename I also tried using the full JDBC configuration. Did I miss something? This worked just fine in 1.1.1. I'm running MySQL 5.1.41. Thanks.

  While coding in Ruby I did not really miss the type-orientedness of Java or C++ so far, but for some cases I think it is useful to have them. For Python there was a project PyProtocols which defined interfaces and protocols for objects. Does a similar initiative also exist for Ruby? I would like to be able to declare the expected parameters for some methods for some objects (for the entire code I find such think useless). It the method during the execution receives an unexpected input, it tries to adapt it or if it cannot, it throws an exception. Does something similar exist for Ruby? Introducing types for a type-less language like Ruby might sound freak, but I think types are sometimes useful. Thanks for help.

In the EditorZone I get a standard error message indicating that some error happened to the editor, but I want to change that message. Is that possible? • Capturing Mac OS X System Audio output with Python

  Hello, I've been trying to "hijack" the Mac OS X system audio using PyAudio and save to a wav in python. That is, I do not want to record from an input device such as a microphone. I want to grab the sound output from any or all applications. I have followed the tutorials on the PyAudio site but these do not appear to cover my use case and when I try to read from the output stream I unsurprisingly get the paCanNotReadFromAnOutputOnlyStream exception. Fair enough! Is there a way to do what I am proposing with the PyAudio or other FOSS Python Library?

  I am trying to use width and precision specifiers with boost::format, like this: #include <boost\format.hpp> #include <string> int main() { int n = 5; std::string s = (boost::format("%*.*s") % (n*2) % (n*2) % "Hello").str(); return 0; } But this doesn't work because boost::format doesn't support the * specifier. Boost throws an exception when parsing the string. Is there a way to accomplish the same goal, preferably using a drop-in replacement?

• No mapping for LONGVARCHAR in Hibernate 3.2

  I am running Hibernate 3.2.0 with MySQL 5.1. After updating the group_concat_max_len in MySQL (because of a group_concat query that was exceeding the default value), I got the following exception when executing a SQLQuery with a group_concat clause: "No Dialect mapping for JDBC type: -1" -1 is the java.sql.Types value for LONGVARCHAR. Evidently, increasing the group_concat_max_len value causes calls to group_concat to return a LONGVARCHAR value. This appears to be an instance of this bug: http://opensource.atlassian.com/projects/hibernate/browse/HHH-3892 I guess there is a fix for this issue in Hibernate 3.5, but that is still a development version, so I am hesitant to put it into production, and don't know if it would cause issues for other parts of my code base. I could also just use JDBC queries, but then I have to replace every instance of a SQLQuery with a group_concat clause. Any other suggestions?
