    Hi! I've seen projects which use many screens each one for different layout and functionality. I've seen projects with only one screen (like wizard workflow) where content is changed on user interaction (and this seems to be logical to use single screen in wizards). But also I've seen projects (apps like game or messenger or phone settings utility) which use single screen for different functionalities. I can see such advantages of having single screen in app: keep same decoration design and menu or toolbar (which may be also achieved with inheritance) keep single screen in ui stack (which may be achieved by pop/push screen) easy to handle data over application Can you tell other advantages/disadvantages of single screen app? When its better to use this approach? Thank you!

First step: What I want to do, is to extract and thus have the following string: "Well, I need some help as you can see." Second step: I would also like to convert the <CUSTOMTAG> and </CUSTOMTAG> to something else, like <e> and </e> for example, and finally have the following string: "Well, I need some help as you <e>can</e> see."   • Is there any framework for rich web clients on top of html/css?

    Some RAD tools like openobject use rich web clients. I.e. their client side code reside inside the browser and they talk to the server via xml-rpc or json-rpc only and change the view accordingly, all the javascript and css are transferred only once. Such rich web clients would increase the productivity in enterprise class web application that have lots of processes and forms etc. I would like to use such a rich web client inside my own application. I tried to search but found only openerp-web, which is tightly integrated to its server. Is there any other rich web client framework available? if not, is there any design detail I can look into to create my own? Thanks. Edit: Browser is a client which uses http and similar protocols to talks to web server which serve pages that the client displays. Rich web client is a client which sits on top of Browser which talks to the server, send data, receive data and information about How to update the view etc and do it. Similar to Vaadin, such rich web client will eliminate any code requirement on client side and and all the coding will be done on server side. Belows are such thin clients. pjax ( jquery ) vaadin ( java ) openobject web client ( python ) nagare ( python ) seaside ( smalltalk ) p4a ( php ) this are all such clients that once properly setup will allow to code on only on sever and still provide great ajax like experience.

I've created a simple page with a Select Widget, but it clearly needs some styling (element looks like plain text, and in the example below the menu items pop up beneath the button). I'm assuming the library supports styles -- how can I hook into them? Each example page in SVN seems to use its own CSS.   • Is hardware accelerated CSS3 in Safari 4 & 5 broken, or my CSS and JS?

    Hi all, I've created a somewhat silly site that shows you the expected weather forecast for any city in the World. On webkit based browsers, when the weather is sunny a sun with CSS3 animated rotated sunbeams appears. This works fine on Chrome. An example (sunny, at the moment) page is: http://willitraintoday.co.uk/iceland/reykjavik/ However, when viewed in Safari 4 or 5 on Mac Snow Leopard, when the sun appears the sky background appears over it. Weirder still, as the cloud containing the advert moves across the sky, it squashes the main text. When the cloud reaches the left edge, the text appears wider than normal and starts squashing down again. I've tried: - Disabling the CSS3 animation; it works fine in Safari - Juggling the z-index of various elements; to no avail Is there something up with my Javascript or CSS, or is the hardware accelerated snow leopard Safari broken in this case? It seems not to happen in Safari 4 on Leopard, but I don't have Leopard any more to test myself. Grateful for any opinions!

  • How to only fade content once it is ready in Jquery?

    Hello, I've seen examples for load() and ready(), but they always seem to apply to the window or document body, or a div or img or something like that. I have a hover() function, and when you hover over it, it uses fadeIn() to reveal it. Problem is, the images inside the div aren't loaded yet, so it ends up just appearing anyway. I need code that will only allow the image to fade when it's contents are fully loaded.     I'm working with a business intelligence tool that only gives me access to a deeply nested iframe to add code. Ideally I would like to use jQuery and/or plain old JavaScript to modify the left and position CSS of a div that is 3 iframes above my IFRAME. I have access to add JavaScript/HTML to divArea0_1 within the reportiframe IFRAME. I would like to modify the propdiv DIV contained within the JSTabbedPanel IFRAME.   • Firefox "intelligently" and silently fixes incorrect file references in CSS and Scripts at runtime.

    Well this is a really weird issue, I really didn't find anything on this elsewhere so I thought I'd address it here. Say I have an "image.jpg" and accidentally reference it in the CSS like so: url(imag.jpg) Note the missing "e". Now for me, Firefox is so incredibly clever that it will still find the correct image, but NOT SPIT OUT A WARNING. So I assume that everything is ok. But later, when I test the page in any other browser, all of a sudden the image doesn't display (and rightly so). That's because Firefox thought it was a good idea to correct my error without telling me. This becomes more critical with scripts. Firefox will also auto-correct a typo in a reference. I just wasted a whole hour scratching my head and trying to debug an ajax function in Webkit - turns out, I just had a typo where I included the file. Why on earth does Firefox do this without telling, and where the heck can I turn this off? This has first occured somewhere around FF 3.0 and still persists in 3.6.3. /rant an thank fo any inpu ;)

  • Redmine on Apache2 with Passenger issue

    I installed Redmine and run it in Apache2 with the Passenger module. Apache2 boots, Passenger module gets loaded and the Redmine welcome page is shown, however when trying to login or navigate to other parts of the Redmine site, the browser keeps loading and loading and loading forever, although the Redmine production.log indicates redirects and HTTP 200 codes in the header, so everything seems to work correctly according to the log. I tested in various browsers. Does anyone have an idea what could be wrong? I will add apache configuration and some relevant log snippets from both apache and redmine hereafter.   • map subdomain to another subdomain via cname

    Question: I need to get DNS configured to point a subdomain from one domain (which I will generally not be controlling) to another subdomain on a different domain name. Testing this process using a simple CNAME entry keeps pointing to the primary domain and not the subdomain where it should be going. This is the scenario; (newdomain.com is in my control) cdn.xyz.com should display content from this subdomain subdomain.newdomain.com It is instead displaying content from newdomain.com (not the subdomain sub domain) cdn.xyz.com/page.htm displays content from newdomain.com/page.htm although what I need is it to display content from subdomain.newdomain.com/page.htm Other Background: setup is between two different servers with different IP ranges although DNS cluster is on between all servers the newdomain.com is set up with its own unique IP (which is on the A records for the subdomains, the subdomains work as expected/normal) the DNS entry is correct (cdn CNAME subdomain.newdomain.com.) ie the end period is included a DNS lookup on the CNAME externally reports back as subdomain.newdomain.com. as the record Does anyone know what DNS entries I am missing to get this working correctly ? Note: I do not want to just put a redirect between domains as I need the content of subdomain.newdomain.com/content.html to be visible via the URL of cdn.xyz.com/content.html also I can just use some redirects on newdomain.com to achieve what I am after but would prefer to just get the DNS correct.     I am not sure if this is a bug in mail.app, or a configuration I just can't find. It might also be a strange sideffect of GPGmail. Mail.app correctly displays all e-mails on my IMAP server, except for the e-mails in my "Sent Messages" folder. In the sent messages folder it messes up åäö, in typical quoted-printable with wrong char-set fashion. They become ‰ˆ.   • Tool to maintain/keep track of filesystem content integrity?

    I'm looking for a tool to maintain the integrity of a filesystem and it's contents using checksums. Effectively storing a list of checksums/filename pairs somewhere on the filesystem in a way that can be verified later if files are somehow damaged or lost. Git does what I want, but because it stores the contents of every file in it's object database, the disk usage will at least double. And the fact that it does not provide a progress bar when scanning files tells me it was not designed for the multi-terabyte filesystem I have in mind. I can do this crudely by storing the output of md5deep, but is there a tool specifically designed for this purpose, using whatever smarts possible to make the process efficient?

One of the content servers has WFF installed, which makes it the controller; it's also the primary content server. Apparently, Illinois isn't properly configured. From what we've pieced together from various IIS.net articles and this post (http://ruslany.net/2010/07/web-farm-framework-2-0-overview/), the controller should be one of the ARR servers (like our Florida setup). The thing is Florida's controller doesn't have a Primary server nor can you set one of the content servers as Primary. It doesn't have the management piece showing the Trace messages when you click the Servers node (from iis console, Server Farms/FLFarm/Servers http://ruslany.net/wp-content/uploads/2010/07/WebFarm8.png). That management piece does exist in the Illinois farm, but that's a bad configuration. What are we missing that our Florida configuration doesn't have the Primary and Secondary content servers, and the management piece? I have looked for IIS role differences, but there are none.

    I am using Word 2007, but saving my documents in .doc (as opposed to .docx) formats because that's company policy. I have the ToC set up fine, but is there a way to have it update automatically (at document open, save or otherwise)? Word help suggests that it should update upon opening the document, but that doesn't seem to happen. Any ideas?

  • How do I mklink junction + move content from C:\Program Files to D:\Program Files?

    I have a few applications that absolutely refuse to install into anything but C:\Program Files or C:\Program Files(x86). Changing the registry keys for default install folders doesn't seem to provide any satisfaction and so now I'm wondering about throwing a NTFS junction in there to force these pesky applications to cooperate. There are files currently in use within Windows so it's quite likely I am not going to be able to do this within the active OS. Is there some bootable Windows 7 system tools that would allow me to make this happen? Seems I will need the ability to copy files (with permissions!) from one drive to another, as well as make the junction for Windows.

  • Can Linux play HDMI 1.4a 3D stereoscopic content?

    I'm aware that there are no Bluray players for Linux but I'm wondering if it's possible to play Full 3D HD (1080p, Side-By-Side) MKV files (or Bluray BDMV folders, etc). Full 3D HD files are actually two 1080p frames "side-by-side" so the effective resolution is 3840x1200. In order to play these properly the software needs to switch to TV into 3D mode (or however HDMI 1.4a works). I don't think simply playing the 3840x1200 resolution file will work so are there any options out there?

  • Nginx (for static files) and Apache (for dynamic content)?

    So, my entire application runs on apache just fine. However, I want to test how much the requests per second increases if I put all static files through nginx instead. I found this thread: http://stackoverflow.com/questions/869001/how-to-serve-all-existing-static-files-directly-with-nginx-but-proxy-to-apache-t But I have a couple problems. I'm completely new to nginx, so I'm not sure where to put the configuration. (The file is at /etc/nginx/nginx.conf, but I don't know if I just add the code to the bottom or what?) Also, how can I have both servers running at the same time? Is it because they both listen on port 80? Right now I have to stop one to start the other, and that's as far as I've gotten. Thanks for any help.

    Let's say I have a 'MyDB' SQL Server 2005 database (simple recovery) in which I do a Full backup on Sunday, and Differentials every other night BACKUP DATABASE [MyDB] TO DISK = N'c:\Database Backups\MyDB\MyDB_Full.bak' WITH NOFORMAT, INIT, NAME = N'MyDB.BAK', SKIP, NOREWIND, NOUNLOAD, STATS = 10 and BACKUP DATABASE [MyDB] TO DISK = N'c:\Database Backups\MyDB\MyDB_Diff.bak' WITH NOINIT, DIFFERENTIAL, NAME= 'MyDB.BAK', STATS= 10 What does the differential backup process use to decide what data gets backed up on the differential nights? Does it need the mydb_full.bak file to do its business? If I wanted to save disk space, could I zip up the mydb_full.bak file to a .zip file after it's created without adversely affecting the differential backups, and if I needed to restore, just unzip the full backup before starting?
