  • json object composition details

    - by Ethan
    in .json text, is the 'value' in a basic single pair object the title of a value type (e.g. [string, number, object]), or a value for a typed object (e.g. 2, or "dog", or Object3)? This is how http://www.json.org/ presents the information: "An object is an unordered set of name/value pairs. An object begins with { (left brace) and ends with } (right brace). Each name is followed by : (colon) and the name/value pairs are separated by , (comma)."

  • Hierarchical data table for JSF2 and RichFaces

    - by Iravanchi
    I'm using RichFaces on my JSF2 application, and I need a way to have something like a tree-column or tree-table. As far as I know, there's no support for such thing in RichFaces. Something's mentioned for RichFaces 4.0, but the priority of this in their plan isn't promising at all, and I don't think that it's going to be included in 4.0. I know there's a tree table available in IceFaces, but I'd rather not add another library to avoid conflicts and learning curve and ... So, I'm looking for the simplest way that I can achieve the same results with minimum efforts, maybe using sub-tables in RichFaces? Any ideas would be appreciated.

  • sql Database to save different contact details for a message sending site

    - by jagan
    I am working for a project to create a database for saving different persons contact details in sql. For example, X person saves 10 contacts, Y persons save 15 contacts, z persons save 20 contacts and so on. I cant create seperate tables to save contacts of x,y,z and so on. But i just want to know the alternative method to do that. Is there any easy method to save different cotacts and is there any easy method to retrieve it. I'm just a student, i don't know much about sql and don't have much experience in this. So i need your help to know much about this.

  • Is a base class with shared fields and functions good design

    - by eych
    I've got a BaseDataClass with shared fields and functions Protected Shared dbase as SqlDatabase Protected Shared dbCommand as DBCommand ... //also have a sync object used by the derived classes for Synclock'ing Protected Shared ReadOnly syncObj As Object = New Object() Protected Shared Sub Init() //initializes fields, sets connections Protected Shared Sub CleanAll() //closes connections, disposes, etc. I have several classes that derive from this base class. The derived classes have all Shared functions that can be called directly from the BLL with no instantiation. The functions in these derived classes call the base Init(), call their specific stored procs, call the base CleanAll() and then return the results. So if I have 5 derived classes with 10 functions each, totaling 50 possible function calls, since they are all Shared, the CLR only calls one at a time, right? All calls are queued to wait until each Shared function completes. Is there a better design with having Shared functions in your DAL and still have base class functions? Or since I have a base class, is it better to move towards instance methods within the DAL?

  • Predicate crashing iPhone App!

    - by DVG
    To preface, this is a follow up to an inquiry made a few days ago: http://stackoverflow.com/questions/2981803/iphone-app-crashes-when-merging-managed-object-contexts Short Version: EXC_BAD_ACCESS is crashing my app, and zombie-mode revealed the culprit to be my predicate embedded within the fetch request embedded in my Fetched Results Controller. How does an object within an object get released without an explicit command to do so? Long Version: Application Structure Platforms View Controller - Games View Controller (Predicated upon platform selection) - Add Game View Controller When a row gets clicked on the Platforms view, it sets an instance variable in Games View for that platform, then the Games Fetched Results Controller builds a fetch request in the normal way: - (NSFetchedResultsController *)fetchedResultsController{ if (fetchedResultsController != nil) { return fetchedResultsController; } //build the fetch request for Games NSFetchRequest *request = [[NSFetchRequest alloc] init]; NSEntityDescription *entity = [NSEntityDescription entityForName:@"Game" inManagedObjectContext:context]; [request setEntity:entity]; //predicate NSPredicate *predicate = [NSPredicate predicateWithFormat:@"platform == %@", selectedPlatform]; [request setPredicate:predicate]; //sort based on name NSSortDescriptor *sortDescriptor = [[NSSortDescriptor alloc] initWithKey:@"name" ascending:YES]; NSArray *sortDescriptors = [[NSArray alloc] initWithObjects:sortDescriptor, nil]; [request setSortDescriptors:sortDescriptors]; //fetch and build fetched results controller NSFetchedResultsController *aFetchedResultsController = [[NSFetchedResultsController alloc] initWithFetchRequest:request managedObjectContext:context sectionNameKeyPath:nil cacheName:@"Root"]; aFetchedResultsController.delegate = self; self.fetchedResultsController = aFetchedResultsController; [sortDescriptor release]; [sortDescriptors release]; [predicate release]; [request release]; [aFetchedResultsController release]; return fetchedResultsController; } At the end of this method, the fetchedResultsController's _fetch_request - _predicate member is set to an NSComparisonPredicate object. All is well in the world. By the time - (NSInteger)tableView:(UITableView *)tableView numberOfRowsInSection:(NSInteger)section gets called, the _predicate is now a Zombie, which will eventually crash the application when the table attempts to update itself. I'm more or less flummoxed. I'm not releasing the fetched results controller or any of it's parts, and the only part getting dealloc'd is the predicate. Any ideas?

  • Convert InputStream to String with encoding given in stream data

    - by Quentin
    Hi, My input is a InputStream which contains an XML document. Encoding used in XML is unknown and it is defined in the first line of XML document. From this InputStream, I want to have all document in a String. To do this, I use a BufferedInputStream to mark the beginning of the file and start reading first line. I read this first line to get encoding and then I use an InputStreamReader to generate a String with the correct encoding. It seems that it is not the best way to achieve this goal because it produces an OutOfMemory error. Any idea, how to do it ? public static String streamToString(final InputStream is) { String result = null; if (is != null) { BufferedInputStream bis = new BufferedInputStream(is); bis.mark(Integer.MAX_VALUE); final StringBuilder stringBuilder = new StringBuilder(); try { // stream reader that handle encoding final InputStreamReader readerForEncoding = new InputStreamReader(bis, "UTF-8"); final BufferedReader bufferedReaderForEncoding = new BufferedReader(readerForEncoding); String encoding = extractEncodingFromStream(bufferedReaderForEncoding); if (encoding == null) { encoding = DEFAULT_ENCODING; } // stream reader that handle encoding bis.reset(); final InputStreamReader readerForContent = new InputStreamReader(bis, encoding); final BufferedReader bufferedReaderForContent = new BufferedReader(readerForContent); String line = bufferedReaderForContent.readLine(); while (line != null) { stringBuilder.append(line); line = bufferedReaderForContent.readLine(); } bufferedReaderForContent.close(); bufferedReaderForEncoding.close(); } catch (IOException e) { // reset string builder stringBuilder.delete(0, stringBuilder.length()); } result = stringBuilder.toString(); }else { result = null; } return result; } Regards, Quentin

  • Autmatically create table on MySQL server based on date?

    - by Anthony
    Is there an equivalent to cron for MySQL? I have a PHP script that queries a table based on the month and year, like: SELECT * FROM data_2010_1 What I have been doing until now is, every time the script executes it does a query for the table, and if it exists, does the work, if it doesn't it creates the table. I was wondering if I can just set something up on the MySQL server itself that will create the table (based on a default table) at the stroke of midnight on the first of the month. Update Based on the comments I've gotten, I'm thinking this isn't the best way to achieve my goal. So here's two more questions: If I have a table with thousands of rows added monthly, is this potentially a drag on resources? If so, what is the best way to partition this table, since the above is verboten? What are the potential problems with my home-grown method I originally thought up?

  • where should i encode this html data in an asp.net mvc site

    - by ooo
    here is my view code: <%=Model.HtmlData %> here is my controller code: public ActionResult GetPage() { ContentPageViewModel vm = new ContentPageViewModel(); vm.HtmlData = _htmlPageRepository.Get("key"); return View(vm); } my repository class basically queries a database table that has the fields: id, pageName, htmlContent the .Get() method passes in a pageName (or key) and returns the htmlContent value. Right now i have just started this (haven't persisted anything to the db yet) so i am not doing any explicit encoding in my code now. What is the best practice for where i need to do encoding (in the model, the controller, the view ??)

  • creative way for implementing Data object with it's corespanding buisness logic class in java

    - by ekeren
    I have a class that need to be serialized (for both persistentcy and client-server communication) for simplicity reasons lets call the classes Business a BusinessData and I prefix for their Interfaces. All the getter and setter are delegated from Business class to BusinessData class. I thought about implementing IBusinessData interface that will contain all the getter and setters and IBusiness interface that will extend it. I can either make Business extend BuisnessData so I will not need to implement all getter and setter delegates, or make some abstract class ForwardingBusinessData that will only delegate getter and setters. Any of the above option I loose my hierarchy freedom, does any of you have any creative solution for this problem... I also reviewed DAO pattern: http://java.sun.com/blueprints/patterns/DAO.html

  • how to filter data from xml file for displaying only selected as nodes in treeview

    - by michale
    I have an xml file named "books.xml" provided in the link "http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/windows/desktop/ms762271(v=vs.85).aspx". What my requirement was to disaplay only the <title> from xml information as nodes in tree view. But when i did the following coding its displaying all the values as nodes like "catalog" as rootnode, book as parent node for all then author,title,genre etc as nodes but i want only root node catalogue and title as nodes not even book. Can any body guide me what modification i need to do in the exisitng logic for displaying title as nodes OpenFileDialog dlg = new OpenFileDialog(); dlg.Title = "Open XML document"; dlg.Filter = "XML Files (*.xml)|*.xml"; dlg.FileName = Application.StartupPath + "\\..\\..\\Sample.xml"; if (dlg.ShowDialog() == DialogResult.OK) { try { //Just a good practice -- change the cursor to a //wait cursor while the nodes populate this.Cursor = Cursors.WaitCursor; //First, we'll load the Xml document XmlDocument xDoc = new XmlDocument(); xDoc.Load(dlg.FileName); //Now, clear out the treeview, //and add the first (root) node treeView1.Nodes.Clear(); treeView1.Nodes.Add(new TreeNode(xDoc.DocumentElement.Name)); TreeNode tNode = new TreeNode(); tNode = (TreeNode)treeView1.Nodes[0]; //We make a call to addTreeNode, //where we'll add all of our nodes addTreeNode(xDoc.DocumentElement, tNode); //Expand the treeview to show all nodes treeView1.ExpandAll(); } catch (XmlException xExc) //Exception is thrown is there is an error in the Xml { MessageBox.Show(xExc.Message); } catch (Exception ex) //General exception { MessageBox.Show(ex.Message); } finally { this.Cursor = Cursors.Default; //Change the cursor back } }} //This function is called recursively until all nodes are loaded private void addTreeNode(XmlNode xmlNode, TreeNode treeNode) { XmlNode xNode; TreeNode tNode; XmlNodeList xNodeList; if (xmlNode.HasChildNodes) //The current node has children { xNodeList = xmlNode.ChildNodes; for (int x = 0; x <= xNodeList.Count - 1; x++) //Loop through the child nodes { xNode = xmlNode.ChildNodes[x]; treeNode.Nodes.Add(new TreeNode(xNode.Name)); tNode = treeNode.Nodes[x]; addTreeNode(xNode, tNode); } } else //No children, so add the outer xml (trimming off whitespace) treeNode.Text = xmlNode.OuterXml.Trim(); }

  • JAVA: storing input into array

    - by Jann
    I need to write a program where the program would generate random letter and i would need to store this random character into an array char[] arrayRandom = new char[10]; for (int i = 0; i < 8; i++) { randomNumLet = (generator.nextInt(20) + 1); System.out.print(arrayRandomLetter[randomNumLet] + " "); arrayRandomLetter[randomNumLet] = arrayRandom[i]; } is there anything wrong with my code? because when i run this and printed the array i get boxes for all the values in the array and there are some letter that this line of code cannot print System.out.print(arrayRandomLetter[randomNumLet] + " "); Thanks

  • Do you use Styrofoam balls to model your systems?

    - by Nick D
    [Objective-C] Do you still use Styrofoam balls to model your systems, where each ball represents a class? Tom Love: We do, actually. We've also done a 3D animation version of it, which we found to be nowhere near as useful as the Styrofoam balls. There's something about a physical, conspicuous structure hanging from the ceiling right in the middle of a development project that's regularly updated to provide not only the structure of the system that you're building, but also the current status of each one of the classes. We've done it on 19 projects the last time I've counted. One of them was 1,856 classes, which is big - actually, probably bigger than it should be. It was a big commercial project, so it needed to be somewhat big. Masterminds of Programming It is the first time I've read or heard about using styrofoam balls to model classes. Is that a commonly used technique? And, how does that sort of modeling help us to design better the system? If you have any photos to share which can show us how the classes are represented it'd be great!

  • Storing n-grams in database in < n number of tables.

    - by kurige
    If I was writing a piece of software that attempted to predict what word a user was going to type next using the two previous words the user had typed, I would create two tables. Like so: == 1-gram table == Token | NextWord | Frequency ------+----------+----------- "I" | "like" | 15 "I" | "hate" | 20 == 2-gram table == Token | NextWord | Frequency ---------+------------+----------- "I like" | "apples" | 8 "I like" | "tomatoes" | 12 "I hate" | "tomatoes" | 20 "I hate" | "apples" | 2 Following this example implimentation the user types "I" and the software, using the above database, predicts that the next word the user is going to type is "hate". If the user does type "hate" then the software will then predict that the next word the user is going to type is "tomatoes". However, this implimentation would require a table for each additional n-gram that I choose to take into account. If I decided that I wanted to take the 5 or 6 preceding words into account when predicting the next word, then I would need 5-6 tables, and an exponentially increase in space per n-gram. What would be the best way to represent this in only one or two tables, that has no upper-limit on the number of n-grams I can support?

  • Hide labels in pie charts (MS Chart for .Net)

    - by grenade
    I can't seem to find the property that controls visibility of labels in pie charts. I need to turn the labels off as the information is available in the legend. Anyone know what property I can use in code behind? I tried setting the series labels to nothing Chart1.Series[i].Label = string.Empty; but the labels seem to show up anyway.

  • GZipStream in an WebHttpResponse producing no data

    - by Pierre 303
    I want to compress my HTTP Responses for client that supports it. Here is the code used to send a standard response: IHttpClientContext context = (IHttpClientContext)sender; IHttpRequest request = e.Request; string responseBody = "This is some random text"; IHttpResponse response = request.CreateResponse(context); using (StreamWriter writer = new StreamWriter(response.Body)) { writer.WriteLine(responseBody); writer.Flush(); response.Send(); } The code above works fine. Now I added gzip support below. When I test it with a browser that supports gzip or a custom method, it returns an empty string. I'm sure I'm missing something simple, but I just can't find it... IHttpClientContext context = (IHttpClientContext)sender; IHttpRequest request = e.Request; string acceptEncoding = request.Headers["Accept-Encoding"]; string responseBody = "This is some random text"; IHttpResponse response = request.CreateResponse(context); if (acceptEncoding != null && acceptEncoding.Contains("gzip")) { byte[] bytes = ASCIIEncoding.ASCII.GetBytes(responseBody); response.AddHeader("Content-Encoding", "gzip"); using (GZipStream writer = new GZipStream(response.Body, CompressionMode.Compress)) { writer.Write(bytes, 0, bytes.Length); writer.Flush(); response.Send(); } } else { using (StreamWriter writer = new StreamWriter(response.Body)) { writer.WriteLine(responseBody); writer.Flush(); response.Send(); } }

  • MySQL GROUP_CONCAT + IN() = missing data :-(

    - by Andrew Heath
    Example: Table: box boxID color 01 red 02 blue 03 green Table: boxHas boxID has 01 apple 01 pear 01 grapes 01 banana 02 lime 02 apple 02 pear 03 chihuahua 03 nachos 03 baby crocodile I want to query on the contents of each box, and return a table with each ID, color, and a column that concatenates the contents of each box, so I use: SELECT box.boxID, box.color, GROUP_CONCAT(DISTINCT boxHas.has SEPARATOR ", ") AS contents FROM box LEFT JOIN boxHas ON box.boxID=boxHas.boxID WHERE boxHas.has IN ('apple','pear') GROUP BY box.boxID ORDER BY box.boxID and I get the following table of results: boxID color contents 01 red apple, pear 02 blue apple, pear My question to you is: why isn't it listing ALL the has values in the contents column? Why is my WHERE statement also cropping my GROUP_CONCAT? The table I thought I was going to get is: boxID color contents 01 red apple, banana, grapes, pear 02 blue apple, lime, pear Although I want to limit my boxID results based upon the WHERE statement, I do not want to limit the contents field for valid boxes. :-/ Help?

  • Can I use a keyPath in a predicate?

    - by dontWatchMyProfile
    For some reason, this didn't work (although the keypath does exist): NSPredicate *predicate = [NSPredicate predicateWithFormat:@"department.departmentName == %@", departmentName]; [fetchRequest setPredicate:predicate]; NSError *fetchError = nil; NSUInteger count = [moc countForFetchRequest:fetchRequest error:&fetchError]; // execution simply stops at this line, with no error or console log Execution just stops at the last line above when asking for the count. I don't get an console log. Also I don't get any kind of exception. The execution just stops. There are no objects in the persistent store yet. So maybe it crashes because of it tries to follow a keypath in a nonexisting object? Does that make sense? The line where GDB stops is this: 0x002a31cb <+0459> test %eax,%eax Previously to that, I see a lot of NSSQLAdapter... calls in the stack trace. There's definitely something wrong. Well, but when I set the Entity to the destination of the key path and then just do something like NSPredicate *predicate = [NSPredicate predicateWithFormat:@"departmentName == %@", departmentName]; then there is no problem and count simply is 0.
