    I have created one user named "tuser" with create database rights in SQL server 2005. and given the 'db_owner' database role of master and msdb database to "tuser". From this user login when I run the script for create database then it will create new database. But "tuser" don't have access that newly created database generated from script. Any one have any idea?, I want to write the script so "tuser" have access that new created database after creation and can have add user permission of newly created database. I want to give 'db_owner' database roles to "tuser" on that newly created database in the same script which create new database. The script run under 'tuser'.

    I'm trying to display records from a database and then when a new one is added automatically update the displayed records from the database with the new one I am doing this using php and javascript. I want to load a page and display tags under a video and then when a user adds a new tag by entering it into text box to add it to the database and then refresh the part of the page which shows these tags and include the new one which has just been added all without the page being reloaded.     I can't get this script to run, because SQL management studio 2008 says the table "NewName" does not exist. However, the script's purpose is to rename an existing database, so that it does exist when it gets to that line. Ideas?     I can not use MySQL. MySQL is on my local computer. Currently I added skip-grant-tables in My.ini so I can use MySQL. But I have no privilege to create a new database. My problem is tough, although I asked related questions on SO, but no answer can resolve my problem. I almost give up. So I lower my expectation. I am developing a website, so I need to create database, tables and operate tables. You don't have to consider security. Is there a simple solution that can give me privilege to create a new database? Maybe by adding some command in my.ini or something? You won't need to completely resolve my problem. Maybe after the development, I will upload the database and tables to another server(The current database server is my personal computer, windows XP) so I can uninstall and reinstall MySQL. The root of problem is that I lack privileges.

    Is the ASP.NET 4.0 SQL session state mechanism backward-compatible with the ASP.NET 2.0 schema for session state, or should/must we create a separate and distinct session state database for our ASP.NET 4.0 apps? I'm leaning towards the latter anyway, but the 2.0 database seems to just work, though I'm wondering if there are any substantive differences between the ASPState database schema / procedures between the 2.0 and 4.0 versions of ASP.NET.     Hi, I have a ASP.NET MVC application which is build up as an assembly that queries the database and a asp.net frontend that references this assembly and this assembly abstracts the underlying database. This means that my Assembly contains a app.config file that contains the connectionstring to the database (Linq to Sql data model). How do I go about making this more flexible? Should i make a "initialize()" method somewhere in my assembly which takes the connection string from the asp.net mvc application and then that controls which database to use? or how is this done?

    Hi, Would QuickGraph be able to help me out with my requirements below? (a) want to model a graph of nodes and directional relationships between nodes - for example to model web pages/files linked under a URL, or modeling IT infrastructure and dependencies between hardware/software. The library would include methods such as * Node.GetDirectParents() //i.e. there could be more than one direct parent for a node * Node.GetRootParents() //i.e. traverse the tree to the top root parent(s) for the given node * Node.GetDirectChildren() * Node.GetAllChildren() (b) have to persist the data to a database - so it should support SQL Server and ideally SQLite as well. If it does support these requirement then I'd love to hear: any pointers to any parts of QuickGraph to dig into? what is the best concept re it's usage in terms of how to use database persistence - is it a simpler design to assume every search/method works directly on the database, or does QuickGraph support smarts to be able to work in memory and the "save" to database all changes at an appropriate point in time (e.g. like ADO.net does with DataTable etc) Thanks in advance

  • Why is this postgres function failing only on one specifc database?

    I'm trying to fix an issue with a legacy database. The quote_literal function is not working for a specific database on an 8.4 install of postgres. Here's my results on a fresh test database: select quote_literal(42); quote_literal --------------- '42' (1 row) And now the same on the target db select quote_literal(42); ERROR: function quote_literal(integer) is not unique LINE 1: select quote_literal(42); ^ HINT: Could not choose a best candidate function. You might need to add explicit type casts. AIUI, the quote_literal(anyvalue) function should handle integer values ok, and this seems to be upheld by the first test. So I figured the quote_literal function must have been overridden in this db but no this doesn't seem to be the case. I could override it with a specific quote_literal(integer) function but I don't see why I should have to. The question is what is could be causing the failure of this function in this specific database whilst not affecting the fresh db?

    I need to get an App Engine app talking to and sharing data with an external database, The best option i can come up with is outputting the external database data to an xml file and then processing this in my app engine app and storing it inside the datastore, although the data being shared is sensitive data such as login details so outputting this to an xml file is not exactly a great idea, is it possible for the app engine app to directly query the database? or is there a secure option for using xml files? oh and im using python/django and the external database will be hosted on another domain

    I've been working on a Django project using South to track and manage database schema changes. I'm starting a new Java project using Google Web Toolkit and wonder if there is an equivalent tool. For those who don't know, here's what South does: Automatically recognize changes to my Python database models (add/delete columns, tables etc.) Automatically create SQL statements to apply those changes to my database Track the applied schema migrations and apply them in order Allow data migrations using Python code. For example, splitting a name field into a first-name and last-name field using the Python split() function I haven't decided on my Java ORM yet, but Hibernate looks like the most popular. For me, the ability to easily make database schema changes will be an important factor.
