  • jquery: i have to use parseInt() even when deal with numbers, why?

    - by Syom
    i have the following script <select id="select1"> <option value="1">1day</option> <option value="2">2day</option> <option value="3">3day</option> </select> <select id="select2"> <option value="1">1day</option> <option value="2">2day</option> <option value="3">3day</option> </select> and jquery $("#select2").change(function() { var max_value = parseInt($("#select2 :selected").val()); var min_value = parseInt($("#select1 :selected").val()); if(max_value < min_value) { $("#select1").val($(this).val()); } }); and now, what i can't understand anyway - if values of option elements are integer numbers, why i have to use parseInt()? in some cases it doesn't work without parseInt(). Thanks

  • Retrieving values from a table in HTML using jQuery?

    - by Mo
    Hi i was just wondering whats the best way to retrieve the following labels and values from this HTMl code using jquery and storing them in to a array or hash map of some sort where i have for e.g "DataSet:" : "prod" or ["Dataset", "Prod"]? <table id="metric_summary"> <tbody> <tr class="editable_metrics"> <td><label>DataSet:</label></td> <td><input name="DataSet" value="prod"></td> </tr> <tr class="editable_metrics"> <td><label>HostGroup:</label></td> <td><input name="HostGroup" value="MONITOR-PORTAL-IAD"></td> </tr> <tr class="editable_metrics"> <td><label>Host:</label></td> <td><input name="Host" value="ALL"></td> </tr> <tr class="editable_metrics"> <td><label>Class:</label></td> <td><input name="Class" value="CPU"></td> </tr> <tr class="editable_metrics"> <td><label>Object:</label></td> <td><input name="Object" value="cpu"></td> </tr> <tr class="editable_metrics"> <td><label>Metric:</label></td> <td><input name="Metric" value="CapacityCPUUtilization"></td> </tr> thanks

  • How do you have jquery slide up and down on hover without distorting shape?

    - by anita
    How do you have an object slide up as if it were hidden behind something, rather than bending out. example In the jsfiddle demo, you can see the circle bends flat as it slides, but I'd like it to slide out as if it were hidden behind something. (I unfortunately can't just put an image or div with the same background color over the circle and have the circle underneath slide upward.) html <div class="button">Hover</div> <div class="box"> Sliding down! </div> jquery $('.box').hide(); $('.button').hover( function() { $('.box').slideToggle('slow'); } ); update: You guys had really good answers! But I found one of the solutions: http://jsfiddle.net/7fNbM/36/ I decided to just wrap the .button div and .box div in a container, and give the container a specific height, specific width, and overflow of hidden. This way I wouldn't have to cover the image in the background and it provides the effect I was looking for.

  • jquery-ui drag and drop - how to dropped items?

    - by user246114
    Hi, I'm trying to use jquery-ui. I am using one of the drag and drop examples which is pretty much exactly what I need, except instead of moving items between the two lists, I'd like the items to be cloned: http://jqueryui.com/demos/sortable/#connect-lists $(function() { $("#sortable1, #sortable2").sortable({ connectWith: '.connectedSortable' }).disableSelection(); }); <ul id="sortable1" class="connectedSortable"> <li class="ui-state-default">Item 1</li> <li class="ui-state-default">Item 2</li> <li class="ui-state-default">Item 3</li> </ul> <ul id="sortable2" class="connectedSortable"> <li class="ui-state-default">Item 1</li> <li class="ui-state-default">Item 2</li> <li class="ui-state-default">Item 3</li> </ul> so moving an item from the first list to the second list results in list 1 have 2 items, and list 2 having 4 items. I just want it to make clones of the items on the drop. So in the above example, list 1 would still have 3 items, but list 2 would have 4 items, Thank you

  • jquery help assigning multiple mouse events using a .each() to hide/show icons and show background c

    - by Ronedog
    Need some help assigning a mouseover event to display some icons that start out hidden. For every <li> in the ul, I have icons. When the user mouses over the <li> I want the span tag with a class called "icons" to be displayed. When the mouse out event occurs remove the class and/or just hide the span. The problem for me is how to assign event so just the span tag and its contents appear and disapear when the mouse hovers over the <li>. Heres the HTML: <ul id="nav"> <li>Cat 1 <span class="icons"> <div>stuff here</div> </span> </li> <li>Cat 2 <span class="icons"> <div>stuff here</div> </span> <ul> <li>Sub Cat 2A <span class="icons"> <div>2A stuff here</div> </span> </li> </ul> </li> </ul> Heres my jquery code. $('#nav li').each(function(){ //Add Background Shading o Mouseover to all Rows in the menu $(this).mouseover(function(){ $(this).addClass("background_grey").removeClass("icons"); }) $(this).mouseout(function(){ $(this).removeClass("background_grey").addClass("icons"); }); }); Thanks for the help.

  • Why do Floatbox popups stop other animations when finished closing?

    - by isherwood
    I'm trying to essentially run a callback function when a Floatbox popup is closed via a hyperlink inside the popup. I want the page to scroll to the top and my login box to fade in. I'm using the following code: function showLogin() { jQuery('#header_no_theme_login_popup', parent.document.body).show(); window.parent.window.scrollTo(0,0); window.parent.fb.end(); } This works fine, but if I try to use jQuery fadeIn, the fade effect is truncated when the Floatbox popup finishes closing, leaving it with partial opacity. jQuery scrollTo doesn't seem to want to work at all. Thanks much.

  • Accessing Server-Side Data from Client Script: Using Ajax Web Services, Script References, and jQuery

    Today's websites commonly exchange information between the browser and the web server using Ajax techniques. In a nutshell, the browser executes JavaScript code typically in response to the page loading or some user action. This JavaScript makes an asynchronous HTTP request to the server. The server processes this request and, perhaps, returns data that the browser can then seamlessly integrate into the web page. Typically, the information exchanged between the browser and server is serialized into JSON, an open, text-based serialization format that is both human-readable and platform independent. Adding such targeted, lightweight Ajax capabilities to your ASP.NET website requires two steps: first, you must create some mechanism on the server that accepts requests from client-side script and returns a JSON payload in response; second, you need to write JavaScript in your ASP.NET page to make an HTTP request to this service you created and to work with the returned results. This article series examines a variety of techniques for implementing such scenarios. In Part 1 we used an ASP.NET page and the JavaScriptSerializer class to create a server-side service. This service was called from the browser using the free, open-source jQuery JavaScript library. This article continues our examination of techniques for implementing lightweight Ajax scenarios in an ASP.NET website. Specifically, it examines how to create ASP.NET Ajax Web Services on the server-side and how to use both the ASP.NET Ajax Library and jQuery to consume them from the client-side. • Formatting minified jQuery, JavaScript using the Internet Explorer 9 Developer Toolbar

    - by Harish Ranganathan
    Much has been talked about the F12 developer toolbar in IE and the support it provides for web developers.  Starting IE8, the Developer Toolbar is a menu item that helps you view the page source, scripts, profiling and many other details of the rendered page.  It even allows script debugging from within and that makes it a truly powerful web developer tool bar. With IE9, the developer toolbar got even better with the Networking Tab that allows you to inspect the traffic/time taken and drill down into the Request/Response headers and other specifics. The script tab allows you to view the scripts used in the page. One of the challenges of working with JavaScript / jQuery when they are minified, is that, it becomes really hard to read.  Minified JavaScript is a compression technique and also a best practice for delivering faster web pages.  However, when you would like to debug, minified JavaScript files become very hard since they aren't properly formatted.  Take the case of the above sample, which is a basic MVC 3 Web Application.  It uses the minified jQuery and modernizr files. Once we select the above scripts, the script source looks as follows:- But with the “Format JavaScript” option in the Configuration icon, Once you click on the “Format JavaScript”, you can see the formatted JavaScript as per screen below:- This makes the script readable and also easy for debugging.  Cheers !!!

  • Ridiculously easy AJAX with ASP.NET MVC and jQuery

    - by eddraper
    After deciding I wanted to dive full-on into the world of ASP.NET MVC 2, I  began doing some research into what would be the best way to support some of my required AJAX functionality on this platform.  The result of these efforts was a barrage of options – many of which required completely different JScript infrastructure than what I planned to go forward with.  As I’ve been delighted with jQuery so far, I began tossing out all approaches that didn’t natively leverage it… Thus, I planned to resist the temptation to take anymore <script> dependencies whatsoever, unless I thoroughly proved that jQuery could NOT do what I planned to do.   Here’s some code I wish I would’ve found early in my research.  This would’ve saved me quite a bit of time and search engine bandwidth. ;-)   <script type="text/javascript">     $(document).ready(function () {         $('#div_name_here').load('<%=Url.Action("ACTION_NAME_HERE","CONTROLLER_NAME_HERE")%>');         $('#id_of_link_I_want_trigger_the_ajax_call')       .bind('click', function (event) {           $('#div_name_where_I_want_to_have_the_ajax_response_loaded_here').load('<%=Url.Action("ACTION_HERE","CONTROLLER_HERE", )%>');       })     }) </script>

  • Checking All Checkboxes in a GridView Using jQuery

    In May 2006 I wrote two articles that showed how to add a column of checkboxes to a GridView and offer the ability for users to check (or uncheck) all checkboxes in the column with a single click of the mouse. The first article, Checking All CheckBoxes in a GridView, showed how to add "Check All" and "Uncheck All" buttons to the page above the GridView that, when clicked, checked or unchecked all of the checkboxes. The second article, Checking All CheckBoxes in a GridView Using Client-Side Script and a Check All CheckBox, detailed how to add a checkbox to the checkbox column in the grid's header row that would check or uncheck all checkboxes in the column. Both articles showed how to implement such functionality on the client-side, thereby removing the need for a postback. The JavaScript presented in these two previous articles still works, but the techniques used are a bit antiquated and hamfisted given the advances made in JavaScript programming over the past few years. For instance, the script presented in the previous articles uses server-side code in the GridView's DataBound event handler to assign a client-side onclick event handler to each checkbox. While this works, it violates the tenets of unobtrusive JavaScript, which is a design guideline for JavaScript programming that encourages a clean separation of functionality from presentation. (Ideally, event handlers for HTML elements are defined in script.) Also, the quantity of JavaScript used in the two previous articles is quite hefty compared to the amount of code that would be needed using modern JavaScript libraries like jQuery. This article presents updated JavaScript for checking (and unchecking) all checkboxes within a GridView. The two examples from the previous articles - checking/unchecking all checkboxes using a button and checking/unchecking all checkboxes using a checkbox in the header row - are reimplemented here using jQuery and unobtrusive JavaScript techniques. • jQuery "Auto Post-back" Select/Drop-Down List

    - by Doug Lampe
    I have one common piece of jQuery code which I use to submit a form any time the selection changes on a drop-down list (HTML select tag).  This is similar to setting AutoPostBack = true in ASP.Net.  I use a single CSS class (autoSubmit) to annotate that I want the drop-down to force the form to submit on change so the HTML looks something like this: <select id="myAutoSubmitDropDown" name="myAutoSubmitDropDown" class="autoSubmit">     <option value="1">Option 1</option>     <option value="2">Option 2</option> </select> Then the following jQuery will look for any element with this CSS class and submit the parent form when the value is changed: function wireUpAutoSubmit() {   $(".autoSubmit").each(function (index) {     $(this).change(function () {       $(this).closest('form').submit();     })   }); } I put this in a separate function since I might need to wire this up explicitly after an ajax call.  Therefore I use the following code to set this method to fire when the DOM is loaded: $(document).ready(function () {   wireUpAutoSubmit(); });

  • Pausing and Resuming the jQuery / ASP.NET News Ticker

    Many websites display a news ticker of one sort or another. A news ticker is a user interface element that displays a subset of a list of items, cycling through them one at a time after a set interval. In December 2010 I wrote an article titled Use jQuery and ASP.NET to Build a News Ticker that explored how to create your own news ticker widget using jQuery and ASP.NET. The news ticker's content is defined as an unordered list (<ul>) where each list item (<li>) represents a news headline. Once the ticker's content is defined, having it cycle through the head lines is as simple as calling the JavaScript function startTicker(id, numberToShow, duration), which begins cycling the headlines in the unordered list with the specified id, showing numberToShow headlines at a time and cycling to the next headline every duration number of milliseconds. This installment shows how to enhance the news ticker to enable pausing and resuming. With these enhancements, the ticker can be configured to automatically pause rotating its headlines when the user mouses over it, and to resume rotating them once the user mouses out. Similarly, with a bit of additional markup and script you can add pause and play buttons to a ticker, allowing a user to start and stop the ticker by clicking an image or button. • jQuery 1.4.4 - issue with attr('selected', null)

    - by Renso
    Issue: The code below worked before under version jQuery 1.4.2 but when I upgraded to version 1.4.4 it no longer worked as expected - it did not unselect the list box item, only setting "selectd" worked:         _handleClick: function(elem) {             var self = this; var initElem = this.element;             var checked = $(elem).attr('checked');             var myId = elem.attr('id').replace(initElem.attr('id') + '_chk_', '');             initElem.children('option[value=' + myId + ']').attr('selected', function() {                 if (checked) {                     return 'selected';                 } else { return null; }             });             if ($.isFunction(self.options.onItemSelected)) {                 try {                     self.options.onItemSelected(elem, initElem.children('option').get());                 } catch (ex) {                     if (self.options.allowDebug)                         alert('select function failed: ' + ex.Description);                 }             }         }, Solution: Under jQuery 1.4.4 you need to explicitly remove the attribute as in "removeAttr('selected'):         _handleClick: function(elem) {             var self = this; var initElem = this.element;             var checked = $(elem).is(':checked');             var myId = elem.attr('id').replace(initElem.attr('id') + '_chk_', '');             if (checked) {                 initElem.children('option[value=' + myId + ']').attr('selected', 'selected');             } else {                 initElem.children('option[value=' + myId + ']').removeAttr('selected');             }             if ($.isFunction(self.options.onItemSelected)) {                 try {                     self.options.onItemSelected(elem, initElem.children('option').get());                 } catch (ex) {                     if (self.options.allowDebug)                         alert('select function failed: ' + ex.Description);                 }             }         },

  • Jason/ajax web service call get redirected (302 Object moved) and then 500 unknow webservice name

    - by user646499
    I have been struggling with this for some times.. I searched around but didnt get a solution yet. This is only an issue on production server. In my development environment, everything works just fine. I am using JQuery/Ajax to update product information based on product's Color attribute. for example, a product has A and B color, the price for color A is different from color B. When user choose different color, the price information is updated as well. What I did is to first add a javascript function: function updateProductVariant() { var myval = jQuery("#<%=colorDropDownList.ClientID%").val(); jQuery.ajax({ type: "POST", url: "/Products.aspx/GetVariantInfoById", data: "{variantId:'" + myval + "'}", contentType: "application/json; charset=utf-8", dataType: "json", success: function (response) { var obj = jQuery.parseJSON(response.d); jQuery("#<%=lblStockAvailablity.ClientID%>").text(obj.StockMessage); jQuery(".price .productPrice").text(obj.CurrentPrice); jQuery(".price .oldProductPrice").text(obj.OldPrice); } }); } Then I can register the dropdown list's 'onclick' event point to function 'updateProductVariant' GetVariantInfoById is a WebGet method in the codebehind, its also very straightforward: [WebMethod] public static string GetVariantInfoById(string variantId) { int id = Convert.ToInt32(variantId); ProductVariant productVariant = IoC.Resolve().GetProductVariantById(id); string stockMessage = productVariant.FormatStockMessage(); StringBuilder oBuilder = new StringBuilder(); oBuilder.Append("{"); oBuilder.AppendFormat(@"""{0}"":""{1}"",", "StockMessage", stockMessage); oBuilder.AppendFormat(@"""{0}"":""{1}"",", "OldPrice", PriceHelper.FormatPrice(productVariant.OldPrice)); oBuilder.AppendFormat(@"""{0}"":""{1}""", "CurrentPrice", PriceHelper.FormatPrice(productVariant.Price)); oBuilder.Append("}"); return oBuilder.ToString(); } All these works fine on my local box, but if i upload to the production server, catching the traffic using fiddler, /Products.aspx/GetVariantInfoById becomes a Get call instead of a POST On my local box, HTTP/1.1 200 OK Server: ASP.NET Development Server/10.0.0.0 Date: Thu, 03 Mar 2011 09:00:08 GMT X-AspNet-Version: 4.0.30319 Cache-Control: private, max-age=0 Content-Type: application/json; charset=utf-8 Content-Length: 117 Connection: Close But when deployed on the host, it becomes HTTP/1.1 302 Found Proxy-Connection: Keep-Alive Connection: Keep-Alive Content-Length: 186 Via: 1.1 ADV-TMG-01 Date: Thu, 03 Mar 2011 08:59:12 GMT Location: http://www.pocomaru.com/Products.aspx/GetVariantInfoById/default.aspx Server: Microsoft-IIS/7.0 X-Powered-By: ASP.NET then of course, then it returns 500 error titleUnknown web method GetVariantInfoById/default.aspx.Parameter name: methodName Can someone please take a look? I think its some configuration in the production server which automatially redirects my webservice call to some other URL, but since the product server is out of my control, i am seeking a local fix for this. Thanks for the help!

  • Dotted Border turns to solid if object is animated with jQuery.

    - by Serg Chernata
    I have a simple setup: an image and then a paragraph with a bit of info that is hidden and then slides up over the image on mouse hover. If I try to apply a border-top that is dashed or dotted onto the paragraph it simply turns into a solid line. Is this a known issue with a fix? I even tried adding the dotted border through jQuery and it still comes out as a solid line. <div class="wrap"> <img src="images/fillertxt.jpg" alt="image" /> <img src="images/filler.jpg" class="front" alt="image" /> <p class="info"> This is a short description with a bit of text. </p> </div> .wrap .info { width:204px; height:50px; background:url(images/infobg.jpg) repeat-x #8d9c0c; color:#f7f5ef; padding:3px; position:absolute; top:142px; left:0; border-top:3px dotted #8d9c0c; } $(document).ready(function(){ $("p.info").css("border-top","3px dotted #8d9c0c"); $(function(){ bindTypeOne(); $("input[type=radio]").click(function(){ if ($(this).attr("rel") == "type1"){ bindTypeOne(); } else if ($(this).attr("rel") == "type2"){ bindTypeTwo(); } }); }); function bindTypeOne() { $("div.wrap").hover(function(){ $(this).children("p.info").stop(); $(this).children(".front").stop().animate({"top":"141px"}, 400); },function(){ $(this).children("p.info").stop(); $(this).children(".front").stop().animate({"top":"0"}, 700); }); }; function bindTypeTwo() { $("div.wrap").hover(function(){ $(this).children(".front").stop(); $(this).children("p.info").stop().animate({"top":"80px","border-top":"3px dotted #8d9c0c"}, 400); },function(){ $(this).children(".front").stop(); $(this).children("p.info").stop().animate({"top":"142px"}, 700); }); }; });

  • Are jQuery's :first and :eq(0) selectors functionally equivalent?

    - by travis
    I'm not sure whether to use :first or :eq(0) in a selector. I'm pretty sure that they'll always return the same object, but is one speedier than the other? I'm sure someone here must have benchmarked these selectors before and I'm not really sure the best way to test if one is faster. Update: here's the bench I ran: /* start bench */ for (var count = 0; count < 5; count++) { var i = 0, limit = 10000; var start, end; start = new Date(); for (i = 0; i < limit; i++) { var $radeditor = $thisFrame.parents("div.RadEditor.Telerik:eq(0)"); } end = new Date(); alert("div.RadEditor.Telerik:eq(0) : " + (end-start)); var start = new Date(); for (i = 0; i < limit; i++) { var $radeditor = $thisFrame.parents("div.RadEditor.Telerik:first"); } end = new Date(); alert("div.RadEditor.Telerik:first : " + (end-start)); start = new Date(); for (i = 0; i < limit; i++) { var radeditor = $thisFrame.parents("div.RadEditor.Telerik")[0]; } end = new Date(); alert("(div.RadEditor.Telerik)[0] : " + (end-start)); start = new Date(); for (i = 0; i < limit; i++) { var $radeditor = $($thisFrame.parents("div.RadEditor.Telerik")[0]); } end = new Date(); alert("$((div.RadEditor.Telerik)[0]) : " + (end-start)); } /* end bench */ I assumed that the 3rd would be the fastest and the 4th would be the slowest, but here's the results that I came up with: FF3: :eq(0) :first [0] $([0]) trial1 5275 4360 4107 3910 trial2 5175 5231 3916 4134 trial3 5317 5589 4670 4350 trial4 5754 4829 3988 4610 trial5 4771 6019 4669 4803 Average 5258.4 5205.6 4270 4361.4 IE6: :eq(0) :first [0] $([0]) trial1 13796 15733 12202 14014 trial2 14186 13905 12749 11546 trial3 12249 14281 13421 12109 trial4 14984 15015 11718 13421 trial5 16015 13187 11578 10984 Average 14246 14424.2 12333.6 12414.8 I was correct about just returning the first native DOM object being the fastest ([0]), but I can't believe the wrapping that object in the jQuery function was faster that both :first and :eq(0)! Unless I'm doing it wrong.

  • Using respond_to ... format.json and jQuery Form Plugin by malsup

    - by Topher Fangio
    Hello all, I'm having a tad bit of trouble getting the jQuery Form Plugin to work properly with a file-upload field. When I use the plugin to submit the form without a file-upload field, the format.json portion of the respond_to do |format| block is called properly. However, by adding the file-upload field, it only executes the format.html portion which makes my javascript code think that an error has occurred. Has anyone run into this before or know a way to force the plugin to always use json? Alternatively, can I modify the url that the plugin uses to force Rails to render the json? Thanks very much for any help! Code below: # app/controllers/details_controller.rb def create @detail = Detail.new(params[:detail]) style = params[:detail_style].to_sym || :thumb data = { :id => '5', :url => 'test.rails' } respond_to do |format| if @detail.save flash[:notice] = 'Your image has been saved.' data = { :id => @detail.id, :url => @detail.data.url(style) } format.html { redirect_to :action => 'index' } format.json { render :json => "<textarea>#{data.to_json}</textarea>", :status => :created } else format.html { render :action => 'new' } format.json { render :json => @detail.errors, :status => :unprocessable_entity } end end end /* app/views/sidebar/_details.html.erb (excerpt) */ <% form_for(Detail.new, :html => { :multipart => true } ) do |f| %> <%= hidden_field_tag 'detail_style', 'thumb' %> <%= f.label :image, "Recent Images" %> <%= f.file_field :image%> <p> <%= f.submit "Upload" %> </p> <% end %> <script> $(document).ready(function() { var options = { dataType: 'json', success: function(json, statusText) { console.log("success: " + json); }, error: function(xhr, statusText, errorThrown) { console.log("error: " + xhr.responseText); } }; $('#new_detail').ajaxForm(options); });

I have this code : $(document).ready(function(){ $('#ulPhotos a').click(function() { var newSrc= $(this).find('img').attr('src').split("/"); bigPictureName = 'big'+newSrc[2]; $('#pho').hide(); $('#imageBig').attr("src", "images/photos/"+bigPictureName); $('#pho').fadeIn('slow'); var alt = $(this).find('img').attr('alt'); $('#legend').html(alt); }); }); and this in html : <ul id="ulPhotos"> <li><a href="#centre"><img src="images/photos/09.jpg" title="La Reine de la Nuit au Comedia" alt="<em>La Reine de la Nuit</em> au Comedia"/></a> <a href="#centre"><img src="images/photos/03.jpg" title="Manuelita, La Périchole à l&rsquo;Opéra Comique" alt="Manuelita, <em>La Périchole</em> à l&#8217;Opéra Comique" /></a></li> <li><a href="#centre" ><img src="images/photos/12.png" title="" alt="Marion Baglan Carnac Ré" /></a> and this in for bigImage : </div> <div id="pho" a name="centre"> <p id="legend"> La Reine de la Nuit</p> <img src="images/photos/big09.jpg" alt="Marion Baglan" id="imageBig"/> </div> It simply changes the source of my img in a div named pho... but sometimes when the new image is too heavy, the fadeIn executes on the previous src !! so we see the fadeIn first on the previous image, and then, the right picture appears without fadeIn.... am I missing something? ps : the page is here http://www.marion-baglan.net/photos.htm#centre if you click fast you can see it... and when I try to put some bigger photos, it's very obvious...

  • I'm cloning a table row that contains an input that's being set to jQuery TimeEntry that errors when

    - by Kendall Crouch
    I'm adding a TimeEntry to a page where the user can add a row (clone) to a table. The row that is cloned is hidden (display:none). The user clicks a button and javascript is run to clone the row which renames all of the fields and then appends the new row to the table. <tr id="blankRowShift"> <td> <input type="text" id="timeStart" name="timeStart" /> </td> <td> <input type="text" id="timeEnd" name="timeEnd" /> </td> <td> <select id="userLevel"> <option value="0">Please Select One</option> <option value="2">Admin</option> <option value="1">Employee</option> <option value="3">Scheduler</option> </select> </td> </tr> var r = $("#tbl #blankRowShift").clone().removeAttr("id"); $("#timeStart", r).attr("name", "timeStart" + nn).attr("id", "timeStart" + nn); $("#timeEnd", r).attr("name", "timeEnd" + nn).attr("id", "timeEnd" + nn); $("#userLevel option:nth(0)", r).attr("selected", "selected"); $("#userLevel", r).attr("name", "userLevel" + nn).attr("id", "userLevel" + nn).attr("value", 0); $("#tbl").append(r); $("#timeStart" + nn).timeEntry({ show24Hours: false, showSeconds: false, timeSteps: [1, 15, 0], spinnerImage: 'includes/js/spinnerOrange.png', beforeShow: customRangeStart }); $("#timeStart" + nn).timeEntry('setTime', new Date()); $("#timeEnd" + nn).timeEntry({ show24Hours: false, showSeconds: false, timeSteps: [1, 15, 0], spinnerImage: 'includes/js/spinnerOrange.png', beforeShow: customRangeEnd }); $("#timeEnd" + nn).timeEntry('setTime', new Date()); The spinner works just fine and the times can be changed. Then when submitting the form, I validate the time. The getTime errors in jQuery with the message "elem is undefined var id = elem[ expando ];". I've placed the statement 'console.dir(input)' in the _getTimeTimeEntry: function and it returns nothing for the cloned fields. el = $("#timeStart" + i); if (el.timeEntry("getTime") == null) {

  • Nice, clean, simple way of getting a dataset from ASP.NET to plain HTML jQuery or JavaScript library

    - by David S
    I know this is a probable open ended question, and I have tried looking around so much over the last year or two... maybe I am looking for a perfect place that doesn't exist! of course it's all about perception no less.. Anyway, just to clarify what I am trying to do and why: I want to be able to use (primarily for the moment) ASP.NET or services thereof to get a dataset - whatever the source data, I can obviously get a dataset of rows/Columns. I want to be able to, as simply as possible, get that data over to the client via xml/json/whatever, to then use in a "variety" of ways. "Variety" of ways meaning I would like to "easily" bind that data to say a grid, or a combo dropdown or just simply render to a textbox - BUT by referencing the dataset as I would say on the serverside. Now I know this all sounds simplistic, and I know there are lots of complications.. so I have tried the following so far over the last year or so: ExtJS - very good, nice solid framework, but just found it a bit too much to use in everyday basic apps - great if I was building a whole application with it Yahoo YUI - not looked recently, but I guess some of the concepts with ExtJS were similar? JQuery - of course to get data etc, it was ok, and I guess there are so many 3rd party plugins, that a mix and match might work? Adobe SPRY - ironically this was as close to getting a dataset style structure to Javascript/client, although it seemed to drop off/go quiet..? I maybe wrong.. I did have a very cursory play with Tibco GI and another one I cannot remember the name of! but again, it felt like it was great to build a whole app perhaps? Anyway, I am very amazed by all of the technologies coming out, and really not biased one way or the other, I really just want a very simple way of getting data from the server, and having a basic/very flexible way of working with that data in the client without using server technologies.. I need to keep the server flexible as I may need to use PHP, or java technologies not just .NET So again, sorry for the rambles, but if anyone out there has had a simple experience, or would like to share some ideas, it would be very welcomed!! David.

  • How to program and calculate multiple subtotal and grandtotal using jquery?

    - by Victor
    I'm stump figuring out how to do this in jquery, I need to do it without any plug-in. Imagine a shopping cart for books, each change of quantity (using select dropdown) will update the total price, grandtotal and then the hidden input value. <table> <tr> <td class="qty"> <select class="item-1"> <option value="1">1</option> <option value="2">2</option> <option value="3">3</option> ... </select> </td> <td class="product"> Book 1 </td> <td class="price-item-1"> $20 </td> <td class="total-item-1"> $20 </td> </tr> <tr> <td class="qty"> <select class="item-2"> <option value="1">1</option> <option value="2">2</option> <option value="3">3</option> ... </select> </td> <td class="product"> Book 2 </td> <td class="price-item-2"> $10 </td> <td class="total-item-2"> $10 </td> </tr> ... ... <tr> <td colspan="3" align="right"> <strong>Grand Total:</strong> </td> <td class="grandtotal"> </td> </tr> </table> <input type="hidden" id="qty-item-1" value="0" /> <input type="hidden" id="total-item-1" value="0" /> <input type="hidden" id="qty-item-2" value="0" /> <input type="hidden" id="total-item-2" value="0" />

  • Jquery $.post and PHP - Prevent the ability to use script outside of main website.

    - by Tim
    I have a PHP script setup using Jquery $.post which would return a response or do an action within the targeted .php file within $.post. Eg. My page has a form where you type in your Name. Once you hit the submit form button, $.post is called and sends the entered Name field value into "mywebsite.xyz/folder/ajaxscript.php" If a user was to visit "mywebsite.xyz/folder/ajaxscript.php" directly and somehow POST the data to the script, the script would return a response / do an action, based on the submitted POST data. The problem is, I don't want others to be able to periodically "call" an action or request a response from my website without using the website directly. Theoretically, right now you could determine what Name values my website allows without even visiting it, or you could call an action without going through the website, by simply visiting "mywebsite.xyz/folder/ajaxscript.php" So, what measures can I take to prevent this from happening? So far my idea is to ensure that it is a $_POST and not a $_GET - so they cannot manually enter it into the browser, but they could still post data to the script... Another measure is to apply a session key that expires, and is only valid for X amount of visits until they revisit the website. ~ Or, just have a daily "code" that changes and they'd need to grab this code from the website each day to keep their direct access to the script working (eg. I pass the daily "code" into each post request. I then check that code matches in the ajax php script.) However, even with these meaures, they will STILL have access to the scripts so long as they know how to POST the data, and also get the new code each day. Also, having a daily code requirement will cause issues when visiting the site at midnight (12:00am) as the code will change and the script will break for someone who is on the website trying to call the script, with the invalid code being passed still. I have attempted using .htaccess however using: order allow,deny deny from all Prevents legitimate access, and I'd have to add an exception so the website's IP is allowed to access it.. which is a hassle to update I think. Although, if it's the only legitimate solution I guess I'll have to. If I need to be more clear please let me know.

  • jquery ie6 issue swaping videos through hide/show while playing.

    - by user217181
    So my code is: Click the link show the div. I'm using the jquery flash embed object. $(document).ready( function() { $('a.overview').click( function() { $('#overview').show(); // show div.contact $('#evaulting').hide(); // hide div.contact $('#his').hide(); // hide div.contact }); }); $(document).ready( function() { $('a.evaulting').click( function() { $('#evaulting').show(); // show div.contact $('#overview').hide(); // hide div.contact $('#his').hide(); // hide div.contact }); }); <div id="overview" style="display:none"> <ul> <li rel="play-norelated.swf:680:480:true:ffffff" class="flash-replaced"> <embed width="680" height="480" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" src="play-norelated.swf" pluginspage="http://www.adobe.com/go/getflashplayer" flashvars="playVideo=ent_web_480x" bgcolor="ffffff" /> <div class="alt"><h1>To Play Iron Mountain Videos - You will need to upgrade your Flash Player</h1> <p><a href="http://www.adobe.com/go/getflashplayer"><img src="http://www.adobe.com/images/shared/download_buttons/get_flash_player.gif" alt="Get Adobe Flash player" /></a></p></div> </li> </ul> </div> <div id="evaulting" style="display:none"> <ul> <li rel="play-norelated.swf:680:480:true:ffffff" class="flash-replaced"> <embed width="680" height="480" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" src="play-norelated.swf" pluginspage="http://www.adobe.com/go/getflashplayer" flashvars="playVideo=evaulting_web_480x" bgcolor="ffffff" /> <div class="alt"><h1>To Play Iron Mountain Video's - You will need to upgrade your Flash Player</h1> <p><a href="http://www.adobe.com/go/getflashplayer"><img src="http://www.adobe.com/images/shared/download_buttons/get_flash_player.gif" alt="Get Adobe Flash player" /></a></p></div> </li> </ul> </div> When I repeat this code and get the second video to load on click. It works in all browsers. The only issue I'm running into is that in IE6 the video keeps playing and in other browsers it stops the video your watching and loads the one you clicked on. I looked into using the .remove object or the .append to a div, but I can't seem to get that to work and if it does work will it play nice with IE6. Try it out and maybe solve my issues.
