• Hudson or Jenkins

  We have been using Hudson for quite a while and we loved it. Now many Hudson-developers have "left the building" to create their own: Jenkins (which means the project has been forked). As Hudson/Jenkins users, we are now worried whether we should opt for the original "big and stable" producer Oracle, or the "small and dynamic" newcomer Jenkins. EDIT: Our worries are mainly due to the fact that we did not really hear about this fork/split through any official ways. It looks like a guerilla action including the hijacking of logos and trademarks (after all, the copyright must be at Oracle, no? I'm not sure). So we're kinda missing professionalism here, as in well-organised course of action involving press relases, etc. Maybe we just missed that... What are good objective reasons to decide for either project in the future? Can we postpone that decision until later, or is that too risky?   Today I hosted a session on the Principles of Service-Oriented Architecture for my colleagues at Capgemini. A very interesting session because everyone had a very clear view on the Oracle SOA Suite and a technical background. What we wanted to do was creating a common view on what a Service-Oriented Architecture is, what the benefits are that can be achieved and what is needed to create a Service-Oriented Architecture. During this very interactive session we moved from a clearly technology view on the matter (Oracle SOA Suite) to an architectural view slicing from business to technology. Ez a dokumentum az Exadata környezetben az Oracle Data Guard használatát elemzi. Az utolsó oldalakon néhány rendkívül hasznos linket is találunk. Mire is használható a Data Guard? - katasztrófa helyzet kezelése - adatbázis gördülo upgrade - egy megoldás az Exadata környezetre migrálásra - a standby adatbázis kihasználása A Sun Oracle Database Machine háromféle konfigurációban kapható: Full Rack, Half Rack és Quarter Rack, azaz teljes, fél és negyed szekrény kiépítésben. Felfelé upgrade-elheto és akár sok Full Rack összekapcsolva is egyetlen gépként tud muködni. A határ tehát a csillagos ég! :) Hiszen a nap a legfontosabb csillagunk. A Database Machine már önmagában is magas rendelkezésreállást biztosít, hiszen minden - a muködés szempontjából fontos - minden komponense legalább duplikált! Természetesen ez az adatokra is vonatkozik. A Database Machine ideális gyors környezet mind OLTP, mind DW futtatására, mind adatbázis konszolidációra. A tranzakciós (OLTP) rendszereknél régóta fontos követelmény, hogy az elsodleges site mögött legyen egy katasztrófa site, mely át tudja venni az adatbázis-kezelés feladatát, ha árvíz, tuz, vagy más szomorú katasztrófa történne az elsodleges site-on. Manapság már az adattárházak (DW) üzemeltetésében is fontos szerepet kap az MAA architektúra, azaz a Maximum Availability Architecture.   Untitled Document Don’t Take Chances with Alerts—Get Hot Topics When Oracle Support publishes an alert, how do you find out about it? I can see any number of ways you might stumble onto an alert that you need. For example, if you are visiting My Oracle Support in search of answers under the Knowledge tab and happen to notice, and click on, the Alert tab the under the Knowledge Article region, you might see an alert listed for one of the products you use. There are other ways… like subscribing to one of the Oracle Blogs and finding the alert in your RSS feed because the blogger decided to write up that topic for the latest post. I’m sure your colleagues sometimes pass on critical alerts for your products, I hope, giving you the information before you needed it. Well, no matter how you learn about an alert, the important point is that you get the correct information in a timely way. Right? I must admit, the ‘magic’ required to find out via these methods makes me nervous. Rather than leave it to chance, I think you need a more reliable way to stay informed and receive alerts for your products when Oracle publishes them. You may not be aware of it, but there is a better way. Oracle Premier Support Customers can leverage the “Hot Topics E-Mail.” You select the products and topics that interest you. Based on your choices, the system sends you the support related information when Oracle Support publishes it.   In most of my interactions with the partner developer community who are working on either Webcenter Projects or ADF related Projects, there are constant questions that come up on the documentation or samples or step by step instructions for novices. Though most of the resources are available online on the OTN site, there seems to be a difficulty in getting hold of the right resource for their job to be done, which i am yet to solve.
