• Backbone.js Model validation fails to prevent Model from saving

  I have defined a validate method for a Backbone.js Model. The problem is that even if validation fails (i.e. the Model.validate method returns a value) the post/put request is still sent to the server. This contradicts what is explained in the Backbone.js documentation. I cannot understand what I am doing wrong.   Let's say I write a game application. I want the level of the player to be stored in an external file. How can I prevent a hacker from writing and modifying the file to put another level ? I want the file to be modified by my application only. I can sign the file's content with a key, but then this key will be stored in the application, therefore it would be possible for a hacker to decompile the binary and find the key. Is there any way to do this ?

I've ran it as an administrator and I get an invalid parameter error message. • How to have a run in an Service?

  I have implemented an service that runs in a seperate process. This service contains a separate thread where i have a socket connection. This thread has a run() where it is continuously sending data to the port. My problem is after triggering the run() in the thread i don't get any contact with it anymore, i can see in the program that have open the socket that it consciously sends the data but the idea was that i while it is running i could change data that it sends for an example time. here is my run in the external thread: public void run() { if(run) { // Team and player names message is sent when entering in a game setBaseMessage(); SendMessageToCOMPort(base_message + CalculateCRC(base_message)); sleep(); // waits for 100 ms } } Anyone have any idea what might be wrong ?

• Embedded YouTube video slows down page load

  Hi, total newbie here - trying to figure out how to make a page load faster with 1 embedded YouTube video on it - a very modest page takes an extra 5 seconds to completely load with the YouTube player showing up. I'd either like the page to load first or to only load the video when user clicks on it - don't know how to do that.. I load the file with that: $xml = simplexml_load_file('flash/datas/datas.xml'); And the access my content like that: $descText = $xml->aboutModule->chocolaterie->desc The text from desc is well registred in my $descText, but all the <br/> of the text disappear...   Is there a preferred way to go about this? The app in question is not too large . . . single-player game that I wrote over the course of a couple of months. EDIT: I should add that I have no experience with mac development . . . outside of what comes naturally with being an iOS developer. EDIT: Classes heavily used in the game: subclasses of NSObject, UIView, and UIViewController. I don't know much about NSView, but I'm pretty sure all the UIView stuff will work in that class. Also some use of UITableViewController. I do also have Game Center, but I can leave that part out for now. There is no multi-touch.

  I have a website at bgflirt.com that appears differently in FireFox and Chrome. This is how it looks in firefox: and here's how it looks in chrome: As you can see, in chrome (and safari) the page is not stretched to fit the entire screen. I'm using this code for positioning the div containing the flash on the right: <div style="width: 200px; position: absolute; right: 0px; top: 10px; overflow: hidden;"> </div> The page should look the way it does in firefox, in all browsers. • No route matches - after login attempt - even though the route exists?

  I am working on a rails application and added a simple login system according to a book. I created the controller admin: rails generate controller admin login logout index It added the following routes to routes.db get "admin/login" get "admin/logout" get "admin/index" I can got to http://localhost:3000/admin/login there is no problem at all. But when I try to login I get: No route matches "/admin/login"! Now, the first confusing part is that the "login" method of my AdminController is not executed at all. The second confusing part is that this code works like a charm - redirects everything to /admin/login: def authorize unless User.find_by_id(session[:user_id]) flash[:notice] = "you need to login" redirect_to :controller => 'admin', :action => 'login' end end Sidenotes: I restarted the server several times. I tried a different browser - to be sure there is no caching problem.

• "Method name expected" error when trying add a handler method to a delegate - C#

  I keep getting the error "Method name expected" when trying add the a method to a delegate. I have a delegate which is invoked when ever my game ends. The function I'm trying to add to the delegate stops a countdown from flashing (the method is in a static class). I've searched about and I'm still unsure why its not working. Here is the line causing the error: LivesManager.gameEnded += new LivesManager.EndGame(CountdownManager.DisableFlashTimer(this)); The this passes the current form to the method so it can disable the timer flash on the form. I have added methods from static classes to the same delegate before and it works fine, the only difference is that I'm passing the form as a paramater and then it doesn't like it. Is there any way to pass the form to the method without the error? Thanks in advance :)

• How can I convert my Stream (image data) back into a file

  I have a WCF restful service that I'm trying to upload an image to. I have a very basic metod that accepts a stream as it's only parameter and is defined in the contract as: [OperationContract] [WebInvoke(UriTemplate = "ReviewImage", BodyStyle = WebMessageBodyStyle.Bare, Method = "POST")] ReviewImage UploadImage(Stream data); I'm actually consuming this service from flash (which is fairly inconsequntial) which selects a file from the file system and uploads it through the service url. It all works seems to work, adding a breakpoint to the UploadImage method breaks as expected. If I wanted to save this file back to disk, is it just a case of reading this Stream object into a FileStream object that creates the file somewhere? A bit like the this? When i do actually do this the file can not be opened as an image. I'm sure i'm missing a key piece of knowledge here. Does my stream actually contain just the image bytes or does it contain more than that?

  I'm writing a quick music player for myself on my Nexus One and really want to add the feature of being able to switch to the next song without removing it from it's case, ie. by pressing the scrollball through the sleeve. I've scoured many resources and... Haven't found a decently easy way to listen to key press events while the screen is off. Can't seem to even get scrollball press events to work. I've tried using a broadcastreciever listening for the Dpad_center intent, but it doesn't seem to function properly. I'm still testing, but it looks like TiddlyWiki gets very slow. Is there an app like TiddlyWiki that keeps all the virtues I listed above, and allows more storage? • Injection of banners in my webbrowsers possible malware

  Recently I have started to suspect that I have some kind of virus on my computer. There are 3 symptoms: Banners are being displayed on pages that doesn't use commercials, for instance when viewing screen-shots on Steam. It is only displayed after the rest of the page has been loaded and seems to be injected into it. The whole page is replaced with a commercial with the option to skip the commercial. The page is replaced with a search window claiming that the page could not be found. I have tried to scan my computer with Antivir and Adaware but only found a couple of tracking cookies. I have run HijackThis but since this isn't really my area I haven't been able to discern what shouldn't be there except the line about zonealarm since I have uninstalled it. Is there anyone out there who is able to see if there is anything suspicious in the log-file at the end or has suggestions regarding programs that might be better to find the virus than Antivir and Adaware?
