• Console App Mouse-Click X Y Coordinate Detection/Comparison

  I have a game that I am working on in a C# console application, purely as practice before going on to better methods. As opposed to using something such as a Windows Forms App, which has button functionality built in, I am endeavoring to grab the cursor position (which I know how to do) and compare it to a number of area's inside a console application as defined by perhaps pixel location, but I also do not know if there is some sort of built in unit of space other than pixels (this last bit is the part I am unable to figure). P.S. I know this is in general terms, with no code already provided, but I do not feel that it is needed as all I am asking for is a brief explanation of how to grab X Y coordinates inside a console application, and stick them in int variables. • mac, java 1.5: javax.mail not recognized as a jar file

  hello fellow java developers, Having a little issue with creating a java application on a macintosh computer (snow leopard). I've set up my application in eclipse, added all of the appropriate jar files, but for some reason the code is not recognizing some of my variables as valid types. I've imported the libraries via import javax.mail.*; import javax.mail.internet.*; These libraries are not recognized by the application. BUT I've put them on the build path! Any advice on how to fix this?

• Why is visual studio not aware that an integer's value is changing? (debugging)

  I have a few simple lines of code (below). [bp] indicates a breakpoint. for(int i=0;i<300;i++){} int i=0; cout<<i; [bp] for (i=0;i<200;i++){} When I debug this in visual studio, it tells me that i is equal to 300 on the breakpoint. Annoyingly, 0 is printed to the console. Is there any way to make it realize that two variables in different scopes can actually have the same name? I also want to add some code to the second loop and then debug it - but when I try to do that, i is consistently shown as 300. Very annoying.

  I need to call another shell script testarg.sh within my main script. This script testarg.sh has arguments ARG1 ,ARG2, ARG3. I need to call up the below way ./testarg.sh -ARG1 -ARG2 -ARG3 ARG1 and ARG3 argument Variables are mandatory ones. If its not passed to the main script then i quit. ARG2 is an optional one. If the ARG2 variable is not set with value or it's not defined then i need not pass it from main script.So i need to call up the below way ./testarg.sh -ARG1 -ARG3 If the value exist for the ARG2 Varibale then i need to call the below way ./testarg.sh -ARG1 -ARG2 -ARG3 Do i need to have a if else statement for checking the ARG2 variable is empty or null. Is there any other way to do it.

• Generate accessors in Visual C++ 2008

  Hi, I'm trying to generate the accessors and mutators for my variables automatically, but just can't find a way. I tried the right-click/refactor... solution, but the refactor item doesn't appear. I'm not in the mood right now to learn how to write a macro to do this, and I don't have the money to buy a commercial solution (internship student). Any help is welcome, I don't feel like writing all my get/set by hand. note : it's C++ so the {get;set} syntax doesn't work (or does it ?).

• Problems with Ruby "||" "or"?

  Beginning Ruby Question: I'm trying to see if a string variable's contents is either "personal" "email" or "password". I'm trying: if params[:action] == "password" || "email" || "personal" foo else don't foo end But that doesn't work and returns strange results, and using IRB to play around with "or" statements I have no idea why the following happens: irb(main):040:0> a = "email" => "email" irb(main):041:0> a == "password" || "email" => "email" irb(main):042:0> a == "email" || "password" => true I just want something that if any of the 3 variables are true no matter what order they are in it returns true, if not it returns false. Anyone want to help this n00b out?

• Android use of an string array on another method

  Hi all. Im trying to make an activity that has a multiple choice dialog after you push a button. In there you select from a list of things. But these things are received from a web method before the dialog appears. So I create a string array after I receive them inside the onCreate to initialise it there with the correct size. But my dialog method then cant get the array because propably its out of its scope. My code looks like this @Override protected Dialog onCreateDialog(int id) //Here is where the array is loaded to the multiple select dialog etc @Override public void onCreate(Bundle savedInstanceState) //Here is where i initialise the array and get its contents etc I cant initialise my array when the class starts because I dont know its size yet. This has to do something with the scopes of my variables and I am pretty confused

  Hi, I've read that static variables are used inside function when one doesn't want the variable value to change/initialize each time the function is called. But what about defining a variable static in the main program before "main" e.g. #include <stdio.h> static double m = 30000; int main(void) { value = m * 2 + 3; } Here the variable m has a constant value that won't get modified later in the main program. In the same line of thought what difference does it make to have these instead of using the static definition: const double m = 30000; or #define m 30000 //m or M and then making sure here to use double operations in the main code so as to convert m to the right data type. • PHP Convert variable names to lowercase?

  I have an api listener script which takes in get parameters. But I seem to be having issues when users tend to pass mixed case variable names on the parameters. For example: http://mylistenerurl.com?paramName1=Hello&paramname2=World I need my listener to be flixible in such a way that the variable names will be interpreted case-insensitively or rather still all in lower case like after I process the query string on some function, they are all returned as lower-cased variables: extract(someFunction($_GET)); process($paramname1, $paramname2); Can anybody shed some light on this? *much appreciated. thanks!

• Injecting a dependancy into a base class

  Hey everyone, I'm on a roll today with questions. I'm starting out with Dependency Injection and am having some trouble injecting a dependency into a base class. I have a BaseController controller which my other controllers inherit from. Inside of this base controller I do a number of checks such as determining if the user has the right privileges to view the current page, checking for the existence of some session variables etc. I have a dependency inside of this base controller that I'd like to inject using Ninject however when I set this up as I would for my other dependencies I'm told by the compiler that: Error 1 'MyProject.Controllers.BaseController' does not contain a constructor that takes 0 argument This makes sense but I'm just not sure how to inject this dependency. Should I be using this pattern of using a base controller at all or should I be doing this in a more efficient/correct way?

  I want to change my repository from bazaar to git. I installed Git (winXP) and tortoise with no problem, I set path variables, etc... I have initialized my repository with: git init copied it using cd .. git clone --bare project.git uploaded it to FTP, and when trying to access: git clone *ftp_address* Initialized empty Git repository in D:/project/.git/ Password: error: Access denied: 530 while accessing *ftp_address*/info/refs fatal: HTTP request failed I checked and .../project.git/info/refs does not exists.   Hi, If I do this: 1 NSMutableArray *near = [[NSMutableArray alloc] init]; 2 NSMutableArray *all = [[NSMutableArray alloc] init]; 3 NSMutableArray *current = near; 4 current = all; What happens to near? At line 3, am I setting current to point to the same address as near so that I now have two variables pointing to the same place in memory, or am I setting current to point to the location of near in memory such that I now have this structure: current - near - NSMutableArray The obvious difference would be the value of near at line 4. If the former is happening, near is untouched and still points to its initial place in memory. If the latter is happening,

• How to download files directly to disk on the iPhone os?

  Hi, I would like to download files directly from an URL to the disk using objective-c on the iPhone os. Currently I am using NSURLConnection to send a synchronousRequest, writing the returned NSData into a file. How can I change the download handling (still having the request beeing synchronous, it is already in a background thread) to write the data directly to disk, not using memory variables to store the complete content (only small parts)? • Can fields of the class and arguments of the method interfere?

  I have a class with a fields called "a". In the class I have a method and in the list of arguments of this method I also have "a". So, which "a" I will see inside of the method? Will it be the field or it will be the argument of the method? public class myClass { private String a; // Method which sets the value of the field "a". public void setA(String a) { a = a; } } By the way, there is a similar situation. A method has some local (for method) variables whose names coincide with the names of the fields. What will the "see" the method if I refer to such a method-local variable inside the method (the field or the local variable)?

• Segfault when calling a method c++

  I am fairly new to c++ and I am a bit stumped by this problem. I am trying to assign a variable from a call to a method in another class but it always segfaults. My code compiles with no warnings and I have checked that all variables are correct in gdb but the function call itself seems to cause a segfault.   I often wish to search for variables that are simply called 'c' or 'count'. For example int c, count; Unfortunately when I use an incremental search for 'c' or 'count' I get a lot of unnecessary hits like the 'c' in 'choice', or the 'count' in 'wordcount' which do not interest me. I know Emacs can do i-searches with regular expressions but I don't know the correct regular expression needed to match just 'c' and 'count'. These words are often surrounded by any number of white spaces. Anyone know the regex I can use to narrow my search?

  I have this class that contains vars for db connection; Public Shared s As String Public Shared con As String = WebConfigurationManager.ConnectionStrings("foo").ToString() Public Shared c As New SqlConnection(con) Public Shared x As New SqlCommand(s, c) I import this to my page like this; Imports DBVars I'm then able to access these vars from my page. But if I try to import them into a user control the variables are not available. Am I making an error or is this expected? Thanks.

  I have a txt file on the server which contains 10 lines of text. The text file is rewritten sometimes, and I get new lines using "\r\n". My problem shows when I want to load the lines in javascript variables. I do it like this, but this work only for numbers or for the last line of the file, because its not using the breakline tag: var x = '<?php echo $file[0]; ?>'; Ive tried to alert(x) but it`s not working....   Situation: I have a DAY structure. The DAY structure has three variables or attributes: a Date (NSString*), a Temperature (float), and a Rainfall (float). Problem: I will be iterating through an array of about 5000 DAY structures and graphing a portion of these onto the screen using OpenGL. Question: As far as drawing performance, which is better? I could simply create an NSMutableArray of DAY structures (NSObjects) and iterate on the array on each draw call -- which I think would be hard on the CPU. Or, I could instead manually manage three different C-Arrays -- One for the Date String (2-Dimensional), One for the temperature (1-Dimensional) and One for the Rainfall (1-Dimensional). I could keep track of the current Day by referencing the current index of the iterated C-Arrays.
