• Just-in-time invocation of Facebook login window from UIWebView

  I have an app that presents a UIWebView pointing to my own server. I have a Facebook Like button on some pages inside the UIWebView. I have it working now, but the login screen is way too big for the phone screen. I would like to present a nicer login dialog such as the one in the Facebook iPhone API, and then continue back to the web view. The Facebook iPhone SDK has support for a login button and iPhone-friendly login screen, but it assumes that a user will click a login button before doing anything Facebook related. I would like the Like button to just appear, and to bring up the iPhone login screen only when necessary. I have monitored HTTP requests from my web view, and it looks like I could intercept the login request there, and present the login dialog. However, it seems that this would be fragile, because if Facebook changes those calls then my app will no longer work. Is there a more elegant way to do this?

• Replicate behavior of Android browser

  Hi all, I am writing for Android, and I can't figure out how to replicate the effect of the Android browser where the progress bar is at the top of the screen, with the webview below it, yet when you scroll down, the bar scrolls with the page. I've tried placing both the webview and the progress bar into a scrollview, but when I do that, the webview becomes completely unresponsive and will not load (or respond to any commands, for that matter). Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks! P.S., I'm using the Eclipse IDE, and I'd like to to continue using the 1.5 SDK if possible to maintain backwards compatibility (and just to be able use my own application -- my phone isn't getting 2.1 for a couple of months).

  Hi All, I'm having a bit of trouble with regex's (C#, ASP.NET), and I'm pretty sure I'm doing something fundamentally wrong. My task is to bind a dynamically created gridview to a datasource, and then iterate through a column in the grid, looking for the string "A&I". An example of what the data in the cell (in template column) looks like is: Name: John Doe Phone: 555-123-1234 Email: [email protected] Dept: DHS-A&I-MRB Here's the code I'm using to find the string value: foreach(GridViewRow gvrow in gv.Rows) { Match m = Regex.Match(gvrow.Cells[6].Text,"A&I"); if(m.Success) { gvrow.ForeColor = System.Drawing.Color.Red; } } I'm not having any luck with any of these variations: "A&I" "[A][&][I]" But when I strictly user "&", the row does turn red. As soon as I switch to landscape mode, half the bar appears blue (the default navbar color) and half of it has my image How can I stretch the image for landscape mode and make it small again for portrait mode?   Hello, I was about to develop iphone app and I want suggestion from the expert since I am totally newbie in it. I have one classified website which is written in php and mysql. What I want to create is Iphone app which can view those classifieds. There will be no complicated function at first version. It will be have different categories and query and display according to the category. And if there's new classified ad, they will get push notification. What I want to know is, what should i go with ? Native or using phonegap ? Is phonegap supports push notification ? Is native app can just get the results through mysql ? or do i need to change it to sql lite ? Any speed different between native and phone gap ? Any advantages and disadvantages ? Thanks.

• Monodevelop: `Waiting for debugger to connect...`

  I am trying to debug this Mono desktop software in Monodevelop. I imported the SLN file, ran Build all with success, but when I press the Debug button I get this popup that stays waiting forever saying Waiting for debugger to connect...: The output says: User assembly '/home/nico/src/SparkleShare/SparkleShare/bin/SparkleShare.exe' is missing. Debugger will now debug all code, not just user code. Am I doing something wrong? Monodevelop 2.8.6.3 on Ubuntu 2012.04. Nothing special appears on the console with monodevelop -v -v -v. When I press Run instead of Debug, the app crashes immediately saying The application exited with code: 255, but I need Debug to find where the problem is. Note: It is not the same problem as this question, which is about MonoTouch waiting for a phone simulator... the suggestions over there are about the simulator or updating XCode... no simulator nor XCode here.

  Yo! When I download my app from the iStore, the latest test version installed to my phone gets over written. Does anyone know how to have two versions of the same app side by side? On a test project, I edited the build settings so that "realease" and "debug" have different product names. This seemed to solve my problem, however when I try this same trick on my actual project, the two overwrite each other again. Does anyone have a recommendation? I don't mind how it's done. Thanks! • Problems Executing iPhone "GenericKeychain" Example

  I can't get apple's "GenericKeychain" example to run. I have replaced all 5 occurrences, as mentioned in the readme file, of "YOUR_APP_ID_HERE.com.yourcompany" with my own string: se.[company name].[project name].demo. The compilation goes fine but when trying to run it on the phone, an error saying "The executable was signed with invalid entitlements" appears. And yes, I have an ad hoc provisioning profile installed. I've tried to add "Entitlements.plist" with "get-task-allow" checked but with the same result. Has anyone been able to run the example? • need to align part of list item to right of li - using CSS3 Jquery column-layout

  Using this jquery script to acheive CSS3 3-columns, to display a list of members alphabetically. I need it to display this way, which is does: A D B E C F Here is what I am using http://www.csscripting.com/css-multi-column/example6.php? (using this js file http://www.csscripting.com/js/v1.0beta/css3-multi-column.js) To the right of each member, it has their phone extension, which I want to float to the right, so it easy to read. I tried putting the phone extension within a div and span and when I do that, it tends to screw up at the last item in each column, by placing the person's name correctly, but their extension is the very first item in the next column. • Problem with DWR and Android-Browser

  Hello everyone, I am experiencing a problem with accessing an application from the Android-browser. The application uses DWR to persist connections to the clients that are connected with it. Everything works fine for me, except that if the application does not send any data to the client on the Android-phone for 2 minutes, the connection seems to be lost and no data arrive at the client. The same scenario works just fine on Firefox, Opera and Chrome. If the pause between two data transfers is less than 2 minutes, it works just fine. So, now my question: Is there some timeout setting for the android browser that I am missing? Or is this some built-in bug/feature/whatever that I cannot circumvent? I know that I could prevent this from happening with some sort of heartbeat, I would just like to why this is happening. • saving the videos and photos in iPhone Simultor 4.0

  Hi All, From 4.0 apple has extended their api support to access the videos and photos from the phone. I am using only iPhone 4.0 simulator to test my application. When I try to save the video as apple has mentioned in their api docs, its giving the error something like "Error Saving the Asset". • How do I set up one time password authentication?

  I have a home network which I access remotely quite a bit. But I'm worried about security. While I do have strong passwords, I'm worried that someone will acquire my password and use it to gain access. I heard about "one time passwords" and even got to use them at my university. We'd just press a button on a device (or run an application on a phone) and get a generated password that would work for the next minute or so. How can I set something like that up? Are there systems that are easy to use and set up? Has anyone played around with an SDK of one of these systems? Where can I get a starter kit from? EDIT: I'm running a mixed Linux and Windows network, and I'm vaguely hoping to use this for authenticating on both operating systems. (No, there's no domain controller, but I can set one up using Samba, I suppose.)

I have to write an update query which updates all the occurence of zipcode 4994 to 1234 throughout the database. update zipcodes,customers,employees set zip = 0 where customers.zip = zipcodes.zip and employees.zip = zipcodes.zip; but i know i am not doing it right. Is there a way to update all the tables zip ina single update query?

  I would like to launch Apple's Stocks app to show information for a particular stock, on a non-jailbroken phone. I'm not interesting in how to get a quote or graph a stock myself, just opening Stocks.app. I was hoping that the Stocks app would have a custom URL format, so opening a URL like stocks://AAPL would do the trick. But I haven't found anything documenting such a scheme, and suspect it doesn't exist. Any other ideas, or is it impossible to integrate with the native Stocks app?

So that loading of images do not consume time at startup. Edit: I am using loadimage function which loads images from blackberry device memory which loads images from specified path and resizing them.As number of images increases, it increases the startup time during opening of window.There is an in-built application(Media) in blackberry phone, where images load without taking any extra time. My idea is to display particular number of images which fit to the blackberry screen. As user scroll down to bottom of screen, application will then load and display more images. So my question is how to detect when user reached to bottom of blackberry screen and display one more row images.

  I am going to develop a phonegap application which is pretty simple. I need to implement an authentication and some simple data transfer back and forth to the phone and server. I prefer to use ASP.NET as a web service and our database is MS SQL but I am not sure what approach should I take to create a secure communication between Phonegap App and webservice. The problem with a simple AJAX request is limitation in cross-domain and I’m not sure if JSONP is a good option. I was wondering if someone can tell me what technology I should use in order to make a semi secure connection which works with PhoneGap (html5, javascript ) and .Net webservice. I understand that it’s a general question but I need to know what technology is the best in such a case. thanks

  Does anyone know if the International Assist feature on the iPhone works when dialing a number using the tel:// URL scheme from an application? For those unfamiliar, IA automatically prefixes the "+1" to US numbers when using the iPhone internationally. I know that this works when dialing from either the built-in Contacts or Phone apps, but can't find anything stating that it works when dialing numbers from an application. Also, is there any documentation as to whether this feature is included on Canadian (Rogers) or European iPhones (or is it only used by AT&T)? If IA does not work when dialing with a custom app, can someone point to the API that would allow me to detect that the use is roaming on a foreign network so I can essentially duplicate IA's functionality? Any help greatly appreciated!
