  • SQL Select Upcoming Birthdays

    I'm trying to write a stored procedure to select employees who have birthdays that are upcoming. SELECT * FROM Employees WHERE Birthday > @Today AND Birthday < @Today + @NumDays This will not work because the birth year is part of Birthday, so if my birthday was '09-18-1983' that will not fall between '09-18-2008' and '09-25-2008'. Is there a way to ignore the year portion of date fields and just compare month/days? This will be run every monday morning to alert managers of birthdays upcoming, so it possibly will span new years. Here is the working solution that I ended up creating, thanks Kogus.   • How to manage reports/files distribution to different destinations in Unix?

    The reporting tools will generate a huge numbers of reports/files in the file system (a Unix directory). There's a list of destinations (email addresses and shared folders) where a different set of reports/files (can have overlap) are required to be distributed at each destinations. Would like to know if there's a way to efficiently manage this reports delivery using shell scripts so that the maintenance of the list of reports and destinations will not become a mess in future. It's quite an open ended question, the constraint however is that it should work within the boundaries of managing the reports in a Unix FS.

  • Perl - Choose interface to connect through

    I have 2 interfaces on my server, eth0 and eth0:0. Those are 2 different external ips and obviously 2 different reverse domains. When i open a IO::Socket::INET Perl uses the eth0 interface by default. I would like to use the second interface (eth0:0) because this has a different ip and i dont want to use my main ip/domain. I have absolutely no idea how to select which interface to connect through. Code i use to open a socket: my $sock = new IO::Socket::INET(PeerAddr => $server, PeerPort => $serverPort, Proto => 'tcp') or die "Can't connect to server: $!";

    Hi, I am using a jquery contextmenu plugin for right click menus which I am trying to add to each li element of an unordered list with the ID mailbox. The code I have is: $("#mailbox > li").contextMenu('myMenu1', { bindings: { 'open': function(t) { alert('Trigger was '+t.id+'\nAction was Open'); } //CODE SNIPPED }); My assumption is that this should alert the id of the list element that the contextMenu was called from, however it is returning an empty string.     I am writing a Client/Server set of programs Depending on the operation requested by the client, I use make TCP or UDP request. Implementing the client side is straight-forward, since I can easily open connection with any protocol and send the request to the server-side. On the servers-side, on the other hand, I would like to listen both for UDP and TCP connections on the same port. Moreover, I like the the server to open new thread for each connection request. I have adopted the approach explained in: link text I have extended this code sample by creating new threads for each TCP/UDP request. This works correctly if I use TCP only, but it fails when I attempt to make UDP bindings. Please give me any suggestion how can I correct this. tnx

    I'm trying to create hidden iframes in my page dynamically to load 3 other pages so that i can grab all the HTML and combine them into 1 in a new window. However i'm stuck at this. tHe frames are created fine. But whenever the javascript runs to the part of openNewWindow(); { var printWindow = window.open("",""); printWindow.document.open(); printWindow.document.write(HTMLfromFrames); printWindow.document.close(); } i get this error: TypeError: Result of expression 'printWindow' [undefined] is not an object. but if i generate a button to call this function seperately, it works fine. however i need it to run all in one click event Anybody as any idea what's wrong?     In trying to find the possible cause of an exception, I'm following a code path using Reflector. I've got deeper and deeper, but ended up at a method call that looks like: [MethodImpl(MethodImplOptions.InternalCall)] private extern void SomeMethod(int someParameter); This markup on the method tells the framework to call a C++ function somewhere. Is there any way to find out what method actually gets called, and in turn what else is likely to be called? NB: I don't really want to see the source code of this method, I just want to know the possible things that could throw the exception I am seeing that originates out of this method call.

  • Any suggestions in a way to parse headers and links from blog pages using C#?

    I'm currently self-studying C# in my free time and thought of a "little" project to get me going (and one that I or others will actually find useful). It ended up being more complicated than I thought. Or maybe I'm just thinking it is? Anyway, this project would parse the homepages of the blogs (most of them are Wordpress blogs) I frequent to, take the post headers and the links within those posts and notify me via a balloon tip in the task bar. I can handle the rest except for the way of getting C# to parse the HTML pages for the items I need. C# doesn't seem to have no built-in way to do this. Could anyone point me to the right direction? I just looked into the HTML Agility Pack but I'm still trying to figure it out. Some example code will help much too. Thanks in advance!

  • scrollTop issue on constant moving div

    I have a FLASH object that I mouse over which in turn calls the following function to scroll a div. It works but due to the constant high speed scrolling it would throw up NULLS. This in turn caused IE to open a new page through my FLASH ActionScript 2.0 I found that by creating the SC variable and throwing in the condition "if it exists" keeps FLASH from causing IE to open a new page. However, it still creates an error behind the scenes of "Object Required". Although my application works I do not want load up memory with errors. This should happen only when the process "Gtalk" is started, [not when running] The code I have written and implemented, doesn't allow to open IExplore when Gtalk is running. That is certainly what not I am trying for. The process Gtalk should close browser only at its start-up, After the process is started, it should allow to open IExplore. Is it possible with Windows service or is it must be the part of Gtalk process itself?   • Possible to use Javascript to access the client side's network(knowingly)

    I recently found an exploit in my router to basically give me root access. The catch? There is a nonce hidden form value that is randomly generated and must be sent in for it to work that makes it difficult to do "easily" So basically I'm wanting to do something like this in javascript: get http://192.168.1.254/blah use a regex or similar to extract the nonce value put the nonce value into a hidden field in the current page submit the form by POST to http://192.168.1.254/blah complete with the nonce value and other form values I want to send in. Is this at all possible using only HTML and Javascript? I'm open to things like "must save HTML file locally and then open", which I'm thinking is one way around the cross domain policy. But anyway, is this at all possible? I'm hoping for this to be able to run from at least Firefox and Chrome. The audience for this is those with some technical know how.

  • If you could remove one feature of php to help newbies what would it be?

    If you could remove one feature from PHP so as to discourage, prevent or otherwise help stop newer programmers develop bad habits or practices, or, to stop them falling into traps that might hinder their development skills what would it be and why? Now, before the votes to close it's not as open-ended as you might think. I'm not asking purely what is the worst feature or what feature would you really like to remove purely arbitrarily. Yes, there may not be one correct answer but I suspect there will be many similar answers which will provide me with a good idea of things I might be doing wrong, even inadvertently.

    Hi Webmasters. I have a simple form which is inside IFRAME. When user click on SUBMIT, it redirects to a specific page on my server. The function I use for the redirect is header ('Location: mypage2.html'); exit (); But I want the new page to open in _top location, not inside the same IFRAME that I use. How can I tell the browser to open the new page in _top not inside the IFRAME? Thanks in advance.
