  • What is the best stucture of SEO friendly URL?

    - by Aajahid
    I'm working for a website to convert the website URL to an SEO friendly URL. I plan to use this: mysite.com/category-name/pageid-123-page-name I looked at some similarly categorized, highly ranked websites. They have the same structure, except for one thing. In one case, the URL format was thissite.com/category-name/pageid-123-page-name.html Another was thatsite.com/category-name/pageid-123-page-name.php Now I know the text in URLs help with SEO. Is it more helpful to have a file extension? If yes, which one is better? Or if my current plan is okay, will it be better with a / at the end?

  • GlassFish Downloads - Where? (reminder)

    - by alexismp
    Whether you're looking for the open source edition, stable and supported builds, promoted or event nightly builds, they are all in one place on this download page which is linked off of the main glassfish.org welcome page. At the time of this writing (Nov. 2011), the latest stable release is GlassFish 3.1.1 (open source bits, supported Oracle GlassFish Server). The all-in-one Download page also contains links to the developer builds of both 3.1.2 (see plans here) as well as the promoted builds for the 4.0 version (plans) which was used to deliver the keynote "PaaS" demo at the recent JavaOne and Devoxx conferences.

  • How to compete in a Saturated Niche? [closed]

    - by jasondavis
    Possible Duplicate: Does the position of the content in the source make a difference to SEO? When entering a hugely over saturated niche such as web-design, is it even possible to compete with the big sites that have been ranked on google's #1 page for years? Also, I have read about how important titles, link anchors, and headings are for SEO and how content is the most important. So let's say we are building a standard header, body, sidebar, footer page. In the the actual markup, would it be better to make sure the main content comes before the sidebar on the page or does this probably not make a difference?

  • jQuery Mobile Frame Forwarding [on hold]

    - by Nizam
    I have a site that does a standard forward to another site [301 Redirect]. In the redirected site, I detect if the device is a mobile using the following code: if (/Android|webOS|iPhone|iPad|iPod|BlackBerry/i.test(navigator.userAgent)) { window.location.replace("Mobile/Login/Login.aspx") } else { window.location.replace("Apps/Login/Login.aspx") } It works and jQuery mobile makes the site fits device very well. To do so, I use the following code in ASPX page: <meta name="viewport" content="width=device-width, initial-scale=1, maximum-scale=1" /> The problem is that I am wanting to frame forward - instead of standard forward - (there are a lot of advantages), but the site is not fitted for the device anymore, and even the icon I have chosen for my page is not well defined anymore. The code I use to set the icon of page is: <link rel="apple-touch-icon" href="../../Apps/Imagens/Icone.png" /> My site is hosted by Mochahost My question is: Is there anything I could do to make it works?

  • Bookmark these Useful Support Notes

    - by DebaChatterjee-Oracle
    I am often asked by customers whether we have a document or paper on frequently asked Multitenant questions ? Since a FAQ type page needs to be frequently updated we have created a note in My Oracle Support. This note is maintained by Oracle Support and is continuously updated as we find new questions from our customers.  You can access the FAQ page here (1511619.1).  In addition to this page we have also created a master note for the Multitenant Option. This note is a good starting point for learning the basics of Oracle Multitenant. The master note can be accessed here (1519699.1).

  • What is the simplest way to automatically populate a form? [on hold]

    - by ElendilTheTall
    I am updating a site for a training company. Each course has its own page, on which the dates of upcoming courses are listed. At present, the customer manually fills in a booking form with all the relevant information, including the course name, venue, and dates. What I would like to implement is a system whereby, when the user clicks the relevant date, the booking form (which is on a separate page) is automatically populated with the course name and date. Is that possible? Would it be simpler to have a form on each page and then have just the date and venue automatically filled in on click?

  • Is there anyway i can create an intranet request form and have it be stored in a database? [on hold]

    - by eternalearth888
    I am trying to create a form for my companies intraNet site. The idea is as follows: An employee wants to make a purchase, so they will go to the appropriate page in the intraNet They will fill out the form on the intraNet page They click the email button The data in the form is saved in a database, and an email is sent to me stating that there is purchase order request form filled out I am not exactly sure how to go about this. Part of me wants to create it in a Data Access Page but I am not sure that's correct. If there is no one here who can help, is there anyone who can direct me to someone/something that can help me?

  • Android AlertDialog with rounded corners: rectangle seen below corners

    - by user1455909
    I want a Dialog with rounded corners, but when the Dialog is seen there's a rectangle below it that's seen below the corners, like this: I build the dialog using a custom DialogFragment: public class MyDialogFragment extends DialogFragment{ @Override public Dialog onCreateDialog(Bundle savedInstanceState) { AlertDialog.Builder builder = new AlertDialog.Builder(getActivity()); LayoutInflater inflater = getActivity().getLayoutInflater(); builder.setView(inflater.inflate(R.layout.playdialog, null)); return builder.create(); } } The dialog layout (playdialog) has the following drawable as background: <?xml version="1.0" encoding="utf-8"?> <shape xmlns:android="http://schemas.android.com/apk/res/android" android:shape="rectangle" > <solid android:color="#AAAAAAAA" /> <stroke android:width="2dp" android:color="#FF000000" /> <corners android:radius="20dp" /> </shape> As I said, I set this drawable as background: android:background="@drawable/dialog_background" I don't want that rectangle to be seen. How can I do it?? In this post the user had the same problem. I tried to use the solution that worked for him but it didn't work for me. I modified my DialogFragment like this: public Dialog onCreateDialog(Bundle savedInstanceState) { AlertDialog.Builder builder = new AlertDialog.Builder(getActivity()); LayoutInflater inflater = getActivity().getLayoutInflater(); builder.setView(inflater.inflate(R.layout.playdialog, null)); Dialog d = builder.create(); d.getWindow().setBackgroundDrawable(new ColorDrawable(android.graphics.Color.TRANSPARENT)); return d; } The result is exactly the same. How can I remove that rectangle? Thanks!

  • Add an array of buttons to a GridView in an Android application

    - by Tai Squared
    I have an application that will have 5-15 buttons depending on what is available from a backend. How do I define the proper GridView layout files to include an array of buttons that will each have different text and other attributes? Each button will essentially add an item to a cart, so the onClick code will be the same except for the item it adds to the cart. How can I define an array so I can add a variable number of buttons, but still reference each of them by a unique ID? I've seen examples of the arrays.xml, but they have created an array of strings that are pre-set. I need a way to create an object and not have the text defined in the layout or arrays xml file. Update - Added info about adding to a GridView I want to add this to a GridView, so calling the addView method results in an UnsupportedOperationException. I can do the following: ImageButton b2 = new ImageButton(getApplicationContext()); b2.setBackgroundResource(R.drawable.img_3); android.widget.LinearLayout container = (android.widget.LinearLayout) findViewById(R.id.lay); container.addView(b2); but that doesn't layout the buttons in a grid like I would like. Can this be done in a GridView?

  • Resource not found using library project in Android

    - by hgpc
    I'm converting an existing project into a library project. I configured the original project as a library project and added an application project which references the original project as a library. The library project has an activity (MainActivity) and its layout (main.xml). The application project declares this activity as the main activity in the manifest like this: <activity android:name="com.example.MainActivity" android:label="@string/app_name"> <intent-filter> <action android:name="android.intent.action.MAIN" /> <category android:name="android.intent.category.LAUNCHER" /> </intent-filter> </activity> When I run the application project I get the following error... android.content.res.Resources$NotFoundException: Resource ID #0x7f030002 ...on the following line of the onCreate method of the main activity: setContentView(R.layout.main); 0x7f030002 is the ID of R.layout.main in the library project. The application project has no main resource. If I run the original project I don't get this error. Both projects neither have compilation errors nor warnings and are built with Android 2.2 with min SDK version 3. What might be the problem?

  • how to read user input from custom dialog in android?

    - by urobo
    I'd like to use a custom dialog built over an AlterDialog to obtain login info from the user. In this manner I first use the layoutinflater to get the layout and then put it in the AlertDialog.Builder.setView() method. LayoutInflater inflater = (LayoutInflater) Home.this.getSystemService(LAYOUT_INFLATER_SERVICE); layoutLogin = inflater.inflate(R.layout.login,(ViewGroup) findViewById(R.id.rl)); My layout consists of two textview and two editext for username and password respectively. Then I override the onCreateDialog method, checking the dialog id and putting all together, during the building phase I use the setButton(...) method to add a confirmation Button, neutral though: /* (non-Javadoc) * @see android.app.Activity#onCreateDialog(int) */ @Override protected Dialog onCreateDialog(int id) { AlertDialog d = null; AlertDialog.Builder builder = new AlertDialog.Builder(this); switch(id){ ... case Home.DIALOG_LOGIN: builder.setView(layoutLogin); builder.setMessage("Sign in to your DyCaPo Account").setCancelable(false); d=builder.create(); d.setTitle("Login"); Message msg = new Message(); msg.setTarget(Home.this.handleLogin); d.setButton(Dialog.BUTTON_NEUTRAL,"Sign in",msg); break; ... } return d; } Then I setup the Handler handleLogin: private Handler handleLogin= new Handler(){ /* (non-Javadoc) * @see android.os.Handler#handleMessage(android.os.Message) */ @Override public void handleMessage(Message msg) { String input = usernameInput.getText().toString(); //this should hold the EditText field for the username } }; which is just a stub up to now. what I don't get is when and where I have to access the two fields since I tried to save a reference to them but unfortunately I always get a null pointer exception. Can anyone tell me what I do wrong and give some guidelines to work with custom dialogs. Thanks in advance! :)

  • Android: How to keep onItemSelected from firing off on a newly instantiated Spinner

    - by Drennen
    I've thought of some less than elegant ways to solve this, but I know I must be missing something. My onItemSelected fires off immediately without any interaction with the user, and this is undesired behavior. I wish for the UI to wait until the user selects something before it does anything. I even tried setting up the listener in the onResume, hoping that would help, but it doesn't. How can I stop this from firing off before the user can touch the control? THANKS public class CMSHome extends Activity { private Spinner spinner; @Override public void onCreate(Bundle savedInstanceState) { super.onCreate(savedInstanceState); setContentView(R.layout.main); // Heres my spinner /////////////////////////////////////////// spinner = (Spinner) findViewById(R.id.spinner); ArrayAdapter<CharSequence> adapter = ArrayAdapter.createFromResource( this, R.array.pm_list, android.R.layout.simple_spinner_item); adapter.setDropDownViewResource(android.R.layout.simple_spinner_dropdown_item); spinner.setAdapter(adapter); }; public void onResume() { super.onResume(); spinner.setOnItemSelectedListener(new MyOnItemSelectedListener()); } public class MyOnItemSelectedListener implements OnItemSelectedListener { public void onItemSelected(AdapterView<?> parent, View view, int pos, long id) { Intent i = new Intent(CMSHome.this, ListProjects.class); i.putExtra("bEmpID", parent.getItemAtPosition(pos).toString()); startActivity(i); Toast.makeText(parent.getContext(), "The pm is " + parent.getItemAtPosition(pos).toString(), Toast.LENGTH_LONG).show(); } public void onNothingSelected(AdapterView parent) { // Do nothing. } } }

  • OAuthWebSecurity.VerifyAuthentication IsSuccessful returns false how do I to determine the reason?

    - by Eonasdan
    I'm using DotNetOpenAuth with a MVC 4 application. All the sudden Google auth is failing (MS is working). The stock code does this: [AllowAnonymous] public ActionResult ExternalLoginCallback(string returnUrl) { var result = OAuthWebSecurity.VerifyAuthentication(Url.Action("ExternalLoginCallback", new { ReturnUrl = returnUrl })); if (!result.IsSuccessful) { return RedirectToAction("ExternalLoginFailure"); } I know that result.IsSuccessful is false, but how do I get the reason? result.Error is null. I also looked at this page to use log4net. I do get a log on the local dev box but not when I deploy it to a remote server. log4net webconfig: <log4net> <appender name="RollingFileAppender" type="log4net.Appender.RollingFileAppender"> <file value="RelyingParty.log" /> <appendToFile value="true" /> <rollingStyle value="Size" /> <maxSizeRollBackups value="10" /> <maximumFileSize value="100KB" /> <staticLogFileName value="true" /> <layout type="log4net.Layout.PatternLayout"> <conversionPattern value="%date (GMT%date{%z}) [%thread] %-5level %logger - %message%newline" /> </layout> </appender> <!-- Setup the root category, add the appenders and set the default level --> <root> <level value="INFO" /> <appender-ref ref="RollingFileAppender" /> </root> <!-- Specify the level for some specific categories --> <logger name="DotNetOpenAuth"> <level value="ALL" /> </logger> </log4net> Edit I also tried log4net to a sql db but it still didn't log anything

  • html textfield in WebView in an Android application is hidden by the soft keyboard

    - by user280503
    Hello, I have an Android application that is a TabHost with a WebView. I use it to load a specific html file that has a text field in its bottom part. When I touch the html textfield, the soft keyboard pops up, and hides the textfield, so that I cannot see what I have typed. Here is the layout: <?xml version="1.0" encoding="utf-8"?> <TabHost xmlns:android="http://schemas.android.com/apk/res/android" android:id="@android:id/tabhost" android:layout_width="fill_parent" android:layout_height="fill_parent"> <LinearLayout xmlns:android="http://schemas.android.com/apk/res/android" android:id="@+id/main" android:orientation="vertical" android:layout_width="fill_parent" android:layout_height="fill_parent" > <TabWidget android:focusableInTouchMode="false" android:id="@android:id/tabs" android:layout_width="fill_parent" android:layout_height="63dp" /> <FrameLayout android:id="@android:id/tabcontent" android:layout_width="fill_parent" android:layout_height="fill_parent"> <LinearLayout xmlns:android="http://schemas.android.com/apk/res/android" android:id="@+id/layout" android:orientation="vertical" android:layout_width="fill_parent" android:layout_height="fill_parent" > <WebView android:id="@+id/webview" android:layout_width="fill_parent" android:layout_height="fill_parent" android:layout_weight="1" /> </LinearLayout> </FrameLayout> </LinearLayout> </TabHost> I have tried to configure the AndroidManifest.xml file with android:windowSoftInputMode="adjustResize" with no success. I have also tried replacing the FrameLayout in my layout with ScollView, but that caused my webview to increase in size indefinitely when the application is running.. this may be due to some javascript I have running on the page. I have noticed that the android's web browser has a nifty behaviour - in a web page, after the soft keyboard pops up, the web page scrolls smoothly so that the focusable textfield is visible to the user. How can I have this kind of behavior in my applicaiton?

  • how to add item to Spinner's ArrayAdapter?

    - by allen-c
    i had a EditText , a button and a spinner . When click the button , the spinner will add a new item with name you entered in the EditText. • Why does Graphviz fail on gvLayout?

    - by David Brown
    Once again, here I am writing C without really knowing what I'm doing... I've slapped together a simple function that I can call from a C# program that takes a DOT string, an output format, and a file name and renders a graph using Graphviz. #include "types.h" #include "graph.h" #include "gvc.h" #define FUNC_EXPORT __declspec(dllexport) // Return codes #define GVUTIL_SUCCESS 0 #define GVUTIL_ERROR_GVC 1 #define GVUTIL_ERROR_DOT 2 #define GVUTIL_ERROR_LAYOUT 3 #define GVUTIL_ERROR_RENDER 4 FUNC_EXPORT int RenderDot(char * dotData, const char * format, const char * fileName) { Agraph_t * g; // The graph GVC_t * gvc; // The Graphviz context int result; // Result of layout and render operations // Create a new graphviz context gvc = gvContext(); if (!gvc) return GVUTIL_ERROR_GVC; // Read the DOT data into the graph g = agmemread(dotData); if (!g) return GVUTIL_ERROR_DOT; // Layout the graph result = gvLayout(gvc, g, "dot"); if (result) return GVUTIL_ERROR_LAYOUT; // Render the graph result = gvRenderFilename(gvc, g, format, fileName); if (result) return GVUTIL_ERROR_RENDER; // Free the layout gvFreeLayout(gvc, g); // Close the graph agclose(g); // Free the graphviz context gvFreeContext(gvc); return GVUTIL_SUCCESS; } It compiles fine, but when I call it, I get GVUTIL_ERROR_LAYOUT. At first, I thought it might have been how I was declaring my P/Invoke signature, so I tested it from a C program instead, but it still failed in the same way. RenderDot("digraph graphname { a -> b -> c; }", "png", "C:\testgraph.png"); Did I miss something? EDIT If there's a chance it has to do with how I'm compiling the code, here's the command I'm using: cl gvutil.c /I "C:\Program Files (x86)\Graphviz2.26\include\graphviz" /LD /link /LIBPATH:"C:\Program Files (x86)\Graphviz2.26\lib\release" gvc.lib graph.lib cdt.lib pathplan.lib I've been following this tutorial that explains how to use Graphviz as a library, so I linked to the .lib files that it listed.

  • Process.CloseMainWindow() not working

    - by gehho
    I start the Windows On-Screen-Keyboard like that: s_onScreenKeyboard = new Process(); s_onScreenKeyboard.StartInfo = new ProcessStartInfo("osk.exe"); s_onScreenKeyboard.EnableRaisingEvents = true; s_onScreenKeyboard.Exited += new EventHandler(s_onScreenKeyboard_Exited); s_onScreenKeyboard.Start(); This works fine, but when I try to stop it using the following code, it does nothing: s_onScreenKeyboard.CloseMainWindow(); if (!s_onScreenKeyboard.HasExited) { if (!s_onScreenKeyboard.WaitForExit(1000)) { s_onScreenKeyboard.Close(); //s_onScreenKeyboard.Kill(); } } When uncommenting s_onScreenKeyboard.Kill(); it is closed, but the problem is that osk.exe obviously uses another process called "msswchx.exe" which is not closed if I simply kill the OSK process. This way, I would end up with hundreds of these processes which is not what I want. Another strange thing is that the CloseMainWindow() call worked at some time, but then it suddenly did not work anymore, and I do not remember what has changed. Any ideas? Background: I am implementing an On-Screen-Keyboard for my application because it should work with a touchscreen. It is important that the keyboard layout matches the layout which is configured in Windows since the application will be shipped to many different countries. Therefore, instead of implementing a custom keyboard control with approx. 537 keyboard layouts (exaggerating a little here...), I wanted to utilize the Windows built-in On-Screen-Keyboard which adapts to the selected keyboard layout automatically, saving a lot of work for me.

  • Graphviz or Dynagraph for Graph-manipulation Program?

    - by noahlavine
    I'm looking into writing a program that will show a graph to the user. The graph will change over time (the user should be able to right-click on a graph item and ask for more detail, which will pop out new bits of the graph), and the user might be able to drag parts of the graph around. I would ideally also like to be able to specify the relative layout of certain parts of the graph myself while leaving the overall layout up to a library, but that's not essential. I'm trying to decide on a graph layout library to use. As far as I can tell, the two leading candidates are Graphviz and Dynagraph. The Dynagraph website suggests that Graphviz is for drawing static graphs, and that Dynagraph was forked from Graphviz and contains algorithms for graphs that will be updated. It has a sample program called Dynasty that does exactly what I want. However, the Graphviz site contains an example program called Lefty which seems to do exactly what I want. Graphviz also seems to be much more widely used, judging by Google (and SO) results. Finally, I'd like to code the GUI part in a language like Python or Scheme, which makes me a bit hesitant to use C++ because I understand it's harder to interface that to interpreters. So my question is, which library is better for what I'm trying to do? Do they both have strong and weak points? Has one of them actually ceased development and is just leaving its website up to confuse me? (I've seen http://stackoverflow.com/questions/464000/simple-dynamic-graph-display-for-c and http://stackoverflow.com/questions/2376987/open-source-libraries-to-design-directed-graphs, but I can't tell whether they're right about the Graphviz or Dynagraph choice because of Lefty and also the language issue.)
