WCF: parameters handled in custom channel not present in generated WSDL.

I have some special parameters to all my wcf service methods that are handled inside a custom channel and are not exposed in the service method parameter list. This works fine for json/xml endpoints, but the I don't know how to use a SOAP endpoint with this setup because the generated WSDL doesn't include fields that are not in the service call parameter list. Is there a way I can centralize the handling of the special parameters that apply to all service methods (authentication, locale and other contextual information) and provide a SOAP endpoint that Just Works (tm)? Hand editing wsdl files is not an option.

Hi, Please let me know that how can I create a custom render extension in SSRS 2008. I have created it in SSRS 2005, but when I try using the same code in SQL Serever 2008, it does not work. The IRenderingExtension interface doesnot seem to be compatible with 2008. Why my custom CStatic derived control does not receive WM_SIZE message?

Hello everyone! I'm currently developing a custom control that derives from CStatic MFC class (Smart Device C++ project). I have created the control class using VC++ MFC class wizard, selecting CStatic class as its base class. I have used Class View to add OnSize event handler for my control class (I have selected WM_SIZE message from messages list), and new OnSize method has been created by Visual Studio along with ON_WM_SIZE() statement between BEGIN_MESSAGE_MAP(...) and END_MESSAGE_MAP(). The problem is that my control does not receive WM_SIZE thus OnSize method is never called - I used MoveWindow to change size of my control - its size changes as I have seen on dialog window but WM_SIZE message is never being sent. When I send WM_SIZE through SendMessage or PostMessage function - the control OnSize method is called normally. What do I wrong? I've read MSDN docs about CStatic control and there is no information that WM_SIZE message is never sent to a static control window. Sorry for my bad English.

How can i have custom fields on the posts page in wordpress?

First I've created a home.php page to replace index.php and can add some custom fields on this new one and to have in it lastest 3 posts. On home.php page I put: <?php echo get_post_meta($post->ID, 'test', true); ?>"/> but it doesn't works cause it tries get the post id and not the id of the page. If i put 18 (id of the page) directly it works, but i want it dinamicaly: <?php echo get_post_meta(18, 'test', true); ?>"/> And this condition is not satisfied for test: if($post->post_type == 'page'){ echo 'This item is a page and the ID is: '.$post->ID; }

Creating a context in custom shoulda macro does not work.

I'm writing a custom iterator for a Matrix class, and I want to implement the increment method, which gets called when the iterator is incremented: void MatrixIterator::increment() { // go to the next element } Suppose the iterator has been incremented too many times and now points to past the end of the matrix (i.e. past the one-past-the-end point). What is the best practice for this situation? Should I catch this with an assert, or should I just say it's the user's responsibility to keep track of where the iterator is pointing and it's none of my business?

TinyMCE Custom Tags Rendering

I have add a custom plugin that insert custom tags into my tinyMCE editor of the format: title I want the custom tags to be rendered with some styles when viewed in the WYSIWYG view. I have seen one response to a similar question : http://topsecretproject.finitestatemachine.com/2010/02/how-to-custom-tags-with-tinymce/ but this doesn't work - they tags are not stripped out but they are not styled either??

Custom component creation - how to add small icon representing component in Tool Palette?

Please bear in mind that I've read all the instructions I could find about adding component icon to my custom component. And I am able to do this when we talk about the icon size which is 24x24 pixels. I see the icon when a component is dropped on the form. However I can not see the small 16x16 icon which should be displayed when browsing Tool Palette. I've read that I should name my two other BMP files which are contained in DCR file like this: MyComponentName16 [for 16x16 BMP file] MyComponentName32 [for 32x32 BMP file] Unfortunately this does not seem to work, I've tried to restart Delphi few times in hope that it might be the case of not refreshing something, but without any success. Any ideas?

Flex: How to create a floating notification message of sorts for a custom component?

I have a custom TextInput-based component for date and time with certain restrictions on what's considered "within range". But it's still fine to insert dates that are outside the range. When a user types in a date, on valueCommit, I'd like to be able to display a hovering notification to the user, to inform/warn them that the date is outside the accepted range. I'm thinking of notifications ala the Validators, but I'd rather not use the Validator mechanism because it's really not validation, just notification. Something like a tooltip, but it will only appear if the user changed the value. Maybe an effect of some sort? If anyone has any ideas or if anyone has done something like this, I'm all ears!

What's the best way to store custom objects in relational database?

I have my objects with their properties. Objects could change their structure: properties may be added/removed/changed. Objects could be absolutely dropped. So object's metadata (description, classes, call them like you want :) )could be changed. The database should store objects schemas and instances of these objects. What's the best way to organise a relational database structure to store data mentioned above? Currently I see only two ways: 1) Store objects schemas in a few tables: schema general data,schema properties, possible properties types. Store instances in their tables: instance general data, a few tables - per each type from possible properties types table to store instance properties data. And so on. 2) store objects schemas like in p1 but store instances like XML files in one table: one table for general instance info and one table with instance XML. please, don't ask why/for what I need this. Just need to store custom objects and DB should work fast :)

How do "custom software companies" deal with technical debt?

What are "custom software companies"? By "custom software companies" I mean companies that make their money primarily from building custom, one off, bits of software. Example are agencies or middle-ware companies, or contractors/consultants like Redify. What's the opposite of "custom software companies"? The oposite of the above business model are companies that focus on long term products, whether they be deployable desktop/mobile apps, or SaaS software. A sure fire way to build up technical debt: I work for a company that attempts to focus on a suite of SaaS products. However, due to certain constraints we sometimes end up bending to the will of certain clients and we end building bits of custom software that can only be used for that client. This is a sure fire way to incur technical debt. Now we have a bit of software to maintain that adds nothing to our core product. If custom work is a sure fire way to build technical debt, how do agencies handle it? So that got me thinking. Companies who don't have a core product as the center of their business model, well they're always doing custom software work. How do they cope with the notion of technical debt? How does it not drive them into technical bankruptcy?

Where is a good place to start to learn about custom caching in .Net

I'm looking to make some performance enhancements to our site, but I'm not sure exactly where to begin. We have some custom object caching, but I think that we can do better. Our Business We aggregate news stories on a news type of web site. We get approximately 500-1000 new stories per week. We have index pages that show various lists of the items and details pages that show the individual stories. Our Current Use case: Getting an Individual Story User makes a request The Data Access Layer(DAL) checks to see if the item is in cache and if item is fresh (15 minutes). If the item is not in cache or is not fresh, retrieve the item from SQL Server, save to cache and return to user. Problems with this approach The pull nature of caching means that users have to pay the waiting cost every time that the cache is refreshed. Once a story is published, it changes infrequently and I think that we should replace the pull model with something better. My initial thoughts My initial thought is that stories should ALL be stored locally in some type of dictionary. (Cache or is there another, better way?). If the story is not found, then make a trip to the database, update the local dictionary and send the item back. Since there may be occasional updates to stories, this should be an entirely process from the user. I watched a video by Brent Ozar, How StackOverflow Scales SQL Server, in which Brent states "the fastest database query is the one that you don't make". Where do I start? At this point, I don't know exactly what the solution is. Is it caching? Is there a better way of using local storage? Do I use a Dictionary, OrderedDictionary, List ? It seems daunting and I'm just looking for some good starting points to learn more about how to do this type of optimization.

ASP.NET and WIF: Showing custom profile username as User.Identity.Name

I am building ASP.NET MVC application that uses external services to authenticate users. For ASP.NET users are fully authenticated when they are redirected back from external service. In system they are logically authenticated when they have created user profiles. In this posting I will show you how to force ASP.NET MVC controller actions to demand existence of custom user profiles. Using external authentication sources with AppFabric Suppose you want to be user-friendly and you don’t force users to keep in mind another username/password when they visit your site. You can accept logins from different popular sites like Windows Live, Facebook, Yahoo, Google and many more. If user has account in some of these services then he or she can use his or her account to log in to your site. If you have community site then you usually have support for user profiles too. Some of these providers give you some information about users and other don’t. So only thing in common you get from all those providers is some unique ID that identifies user in service uniquely. Image above shows you how new user joins your site. Existing users who already have profile are directed to users homepage after they are authenticated. You can read more about how to solve semi-authorized users problem from my blog posting ASP.NET MVC: Using ProfileRequiredAttribute to restrict access to pages. The other problem is related to usernames that we don’t get from all identity providers. Why is IIdentity.Name sometimes empty? The problem is described more specifically in my blog posting Identifying AppFabric Access Control Service users uniquely. Shortly the problem is that not all providers have claim called http://schemas.xmlsoap.org/ws/2005/05/identity/claims/name. The following diagram illustrates what happens when user got token from AppFabric ACS and was redirected to your site. Now, when user was authenticated using Windows Live ID then we don’t have name claim in token and that’s why User.Identity.Name is empty. Okay, we can force nameidentifier to be used as name (we can do it in web.config file) but we have user profiles and we want username from profile to be shown when username is asked. Modifying name claim Now let’s force IClaimsIdentity to use username from our user profiles. You can read more about my profiles topic from my blog posting ASP.NET MVC: Using ProfileRequiredAttribute to restrict access to pages and you can find some useful extension methods for claims identity from my blog posting Identifying AppFabric Access Control Service users uniquely. Here is what we do to set User.Identity.Name: we will check if user has profile, if user has profile we will check if User.Identity.Name matches the name given by profile, if names does not match then probably identity provider returned some name for user, we will remove name claim and recreate it with correct username, we will add new name claim to claims collection. All this stuff happens in Application_AuthorizeRequest event of our web application. Now User.Identity.Name returns the username from user profile and you can use it to show username of current user everywhere in your site. Conclusion Mixing AppFabric Access Control Service and Windows Identity Foundation with custom authorization logic is not impossible but a little bit tricky. Python 3: unpack inner lists in list comprehension

I'm running the following code on a list of strings to return a list of its words: words = [re.split('\\s+', line) for line in lines] However, I end up getting something like: [['import', 're', ''], ['', ''], ['def', 'word_count(filename):', ''], ...] As opposed to the desired: ['import', 're', '', '', '', 'def', 'word_count(filename):', '', ...] How can I unpack the lists re.split('\\s+', line) produces in the above list comprehension? Naïvely, I tried using * but that doesn't work. (I'm looking for a simple and Pythonic way of doing; I was tempted to write a function but I'm sure the language accommodates for this issue.)

I have a python list of lists as shown below: mylist=[ [['orphan1', ['some value1']]], [['parent1', ['child1', ['child', ['some value2']]]]], [['parent1', ['child2', ['child', ['some value3']]]]] ] I need to convert the above list to some thing like this: result=[ ['orphan1', ['some value1']], ['parent1', ['child1', ['child', ['some value2']]], ['child2', ['child', ['some value3']]]] ] Kindly help me approach this problem. I have given only simple list. In actual scenario here, in my list, even grand parents/grand childs are there. How much ever deep the input nested list is, I need to convert it to a single nested list, with common list elements (parents and grand parents) appearing only once. (but the next to innermost list element('child' in above example) should appear as many times it occurs in the input list. I have been trying to do this last two days, but did not end up with working solution :(. I need to use the output in django template filter: unordered_list so that the resultant nested list appears as a nested unordered list in my html page ..

JQuery - Ajax saving sortables in connected lists when sortable item is moved

I have multiple JQuery sortable lists that connect with each other... They allow you to assign users to certain roles. Basically what I want to do is when a user is dragged from one list to another, I want JQuery to pick up the first list that the user was moved from so that I can send an AJAX request to delete it from that list in my database. I tried the following but every time you move the user over a list and haven't even dropped it within a list, it sends this request which means I'll be sending multiple AJAX requests... Does that make sense? $( ".selector" ).sortable({ out: function(event, ui) { ... } }); From my testing, I can use the following code to just update the list that user has been moved to so I've got the second half covered: $( ".selector" ).sortable({ receive: function(event, ui) { ... } }); Hopefully I am making sense :)

Hey Guys Ive used the ObjectBindingDatasource to bind to a class Ive called "ReportViewModel" which contains properties such as List Companies {get; set;} List Managers {get; set;} in its constructor Im just calling a method to populate with dummy data Managers = new ReportDataRepository().GetManagers(); Companies = new ReportDataReposiroty().GetCompanies(); ... When i create the new Datasource , it shows the ReportViewModel class with the Lists under it. I expand the Companies object and attempt draging and dropping fields onto the report designer and it works. Though doesnt allow me to drag and drop for any other List. Any guidance would be really appreciated.

Objective C -- property lists or text files?

I need to import a list of about 40,000 words into my Iphone app. The list will be the same every time the app starts. It seems that property lists and text files are reasonable options. Any reason to prefer one over the other? For reasons I don't understand, finder says the property list on my mac is 1MB, while the text file is only 328K. The property list is an NSMutableArray of NSMutableArrays of NSStrings. The text file is a plain txt file. But amount of time the app takes to start up is also important. If I read in a text file, my app would have to do some simple processing on it each time it starts. Thanks.

Using Large Lists

In an Outlook AddIn I'm working on, I use a list to grab all the messages in the current folder, then process them, then save them. First, I create a list of all messages, then I create another list from the list of messages, then finally I create a third list of messages that need to be moved. Essentially, they are all copies of eachother, and I made it this way to organize it. Would it increase performance if I used only one list? I thought lists were just references to the actual item.

Can someone explain how the 2 is used here: if len(sys.argv) >= 2: And how the 1 is used here: name = sys.argv[1]
