  • Restoring a SD card after using it to root a device

    I recently purchased the Nook Touch reading device. I rooted it using the instructions on nookdevs.com Rooting included using win32diskimager to somehow transfer an .img file onto the card. Rooting is now completed and as far as I can tell, I don't need to keep the files used on the SD card, which has been reduced from a 3.5 GB or so unit to a 75 MB unit. Is there a simple way for me to somehow reformat the SD card to its original state or at least 3.5 GB. I cannot simply format it.

    Is it possible to prevent or disable autorun/autoplay/device-stage by modifying regedit? Because of some constraints, I cannot disable by Control Panel options. I found some related questions here, for example, and some solutions provided by Microsoft, mainly involving this key on regedit: HKEY_CURRENT_USER\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\policies\Explorer\NoDriveTypeAutorun But none of these solutions worked, neither after rebooting. Is there any other key or value that controls this kind of property?

The two usb ports on the left work just fine. EDIT: I just updated my bios from 1.32 to 1.39, no change in behaviour. The port does not even power up my devices. EDIT 2: Booted up windows, and the port is working. I went into the device manager and looked at the USB settings. I found my USB drive on Port 2, Hub 3, i just don't know how that relates to the Bus and Device numbers of linux. In windows, Smart card reader was on USB hub located at port 1 hub 2, fingerprint and bluetooth were on USB hub located at port 1 hub 1 EDIT 3: Went and looked at this SO post. Tried to look at my kern.log file with tail -f /var/log/kern.log. Got some activity when plugging/removing devices in other ports, but nothing happens when connecting a device into that port. It really looks disabled. Looked at my usb1-4 sys/bus/usb/devices/usb1/power/control and they are all set on auto. As expected, usb4 have version 3.00, the others (usb1-usb3) are 2.00.

    I have set the Mail app from Microsoft (WinRT) as the default application for mail in Default Programs. However, when I right-click on a file, and select Send to Mail recipient I get a message box saying:There is no email program associated to perform the requested action. Please install an email program or, if one is already installed, create an association in the Default Programs control panel. Is there a way to get this action working with Mail?

  • Easy way to switch default sound output device

    I want an easier way to change my default sound device from my sound card to my usb headset. Currently it takes a very precise right click, a left click, another right click, and two more left clicks. Ideally i could just have it swap with a shortcut key. (it was a little easier in XP but not by much.) A software solution is preferred, but I am open to suggestions that use hardware. I am running Windows 7 currently.

    On my old XP machine I would simply copy short-cuts into the %userprofile%\SendTo folder. On Windows-7 this folder is hidden, and I don't have access to it (which surprised me, it is MY SendTo folder after all). Is there an "approved" way of adding to my Send To menu that I'm unaware of? Or do I need extra permissions from our Sys Admin? Thanks BW

  • Running directx SDK samples on a Windows Mobile 6.1 device

    I tried to run the directx samples from ..\Windows Mobile 6 SDK\Samples\PocketPC\CPP\win32\directx\d3dm\tutorials on a Samsung Omnia and on the emulator and it doesn't work because of a deployment error. I am using Microsoft Visual Studio 2008 and have installed Windows Mobile SDK Standard and Professional refresh. The device is correctly plugged in and set up for active sync (I know this because other samples work, also a creating Win32 smart device application and running it works). When I try to run a directx sample application it compiles without errors but the message: " There were deployment errors, Continue? Yes/No" appears If I manually copy the application from the debug folder to the device and run it from there, it works. The same deployment error message appears if I try it on an emulator. Other applications are deploying successfully. Is there any way to make the deployment work? Maybe there is an obscure option I need to set... What I do is: Connect the Mobile device to the PC, Open Visual Studio 2008, Open a directx sample project, Click Run (in Debug or Release mode).

    Hello, I got a RFID reader (GigaTek PCR330A-00) that is meant to be recognized under linux/windows as a (Human Interface Device) keyboard/USB. I hate to say this but it is working as a charm under Win7 but not "really" under Linux. Under Debian-like distros (x/k/Ubuntu, Debian,..), or Gentoo, or... I just can't have the device working at all: the device scan well (it has its USB 5V, so it is happy/beeping/blinking) something happened in the dmesg, but no immediate screen display of the RFID Tag code as expected (and seen under win7) Support is claiming it is ok under RHEL or SLED "enterprises" distros... and I must admit I saw it working under a RHEL4... I tried stealing the driver but did not succeed having my reader working... My question is thus double: 1./ How can I hack the kernel to add support to my device (simply register PID/VID?) ? 2./ What is different at all in a "enterprise" proprietary distro? how can I re-use it?     Is there some difference between the way that bundle resources can be accessed on the iPhone simulator versus a device (in my case, an iPad)? I am able to access a file on the former, but not the latter. Am I missing something obvious? edit: Of course, in the above @"quickHelp" is being passed in the contentsFileName var. edit2: if it makes any difference, in my build settings "Base SDK" is set to "iPhone Device 4.0", and "iPhone OS Deployment Target" is set to "iPhone OS 3.1.3". Any other settings that might have an influence?

  • Browse for folder can't see camera device

    In Delphi 2010, I want to allow users to browse and select a folder. The folder is on a device (?) created by a DSLR: The folder is visible in the Windows Explorer as shown above. And, the folder is visible in a TOpenDialog, allowing them to browse into the folder and choose a file. Unfortunately, I have been unable to get either SHBrowseForFolder (code I found on the web but don't understand) or SelectDirectory to see the camera device or folder beneath it. (Side note: IMO, SelectDirectory is a far nicer UI, since the user can see the files in the folders while browsing.) I assume this has to do with the fact that the folder is in a device (?) created by the camera software. I've seen some tricks where you call TOpenDialog to browse for folders with '*.' and then ExtractFileDir on the result, but that's not robust or, IMO, a good UI. What I'm looking for is a "Browse for folder" that can see the same devices (including the camera device) the TOpenDialog & Windows Explorer can see. (Ideally, it would have the nice appearance like the one below!) Any suggestions? Image of a MS-Word's folder browsing in Win7. (I wonder if it looks this pretty in XP.)

    Hi, I'm looking for a description of the root of this error: "Transaction context in use by another session". I get it sometimes in one of my unittests so I can't provider repro code. But I wonder what is "by design" reason for the error. " means. All words are understandable but not the point. I actually can share a system transaction between threads. And there is even special mechanism for this - DependentTransaction class and Transaction.DependentClone method. I'm trying to reproduce a usecase from the first post: 1.     I am writing a blackberry application where i want to store the data returned by a web service in my BB device.Earlier i was going to use SQLite for storing the data in mobile but as i googled and also did programming using SQLite and found that some BB devices dont support SQLite library and fail to create the database.Then i decided to keep the data returned by webservice in a XML format on my BB device. I just want to know is there any method or way in blackberry through which i can parse the data stored in xml,update it,or directly access a particular record stored in the xml instead of traversing the whole xml n times and finding the matched record.     Hello, I am writing an Android 2.0 application that is going to be used in a somewhat remote location. There will be no internet connection available and it will be used outside of the U.S. I am considering the option of using an external Nokia or similar GPS device as a receiver/transmitter and connecting to it for use in my application via the bluetooth API. I am looking for opinions on whether or not this is even possible, if anyone has attempted it or if someone has a suggestion for some other external device or approach that would be more fitting.   • unrecognized selector sent to instance on deviceOrientationDidChange

    Right now my app should only supports Portrait. On Summary/Supported Device Orientations I have only selected Portrait so I'm hoping that my app will not rotate. I was testing the app on a device and suddenly I'm getting the following error randomly: [UIButtonContent deviceOrientationDidChange:]: unrecognized selector sent to instance It happens when I rotate the device SOMETIMES, is not consistent, and is not always over UIBUttonContent. I supposed that if I only select Portrait, deviceOrientationDidChange should not be called or should be ignored. Other times my app crashes with an EXC_BAD_ACCESS (code=1, address=something) but it happens when I rotate the device so I'm guessing that both errors are related. I don't know what to do with this, it's hard to debug because I don't have feedback, the All Exceptions Breakpoint is not being called, so I don't know where and exactly why this is happening. Any idea on how to debug this is welcome.
