  • Glassfish v3 / JNDI entry cannot be found problems!

    - by REMP
    I've been having problems trying to call an EJB's method from a Java Application Client. Here is the code. EJB Remote Interface package com.test; import javax.ejb.Remote; @Remote public interface HelloBeanRemote { public String sayHello(); } EJB package com.test; import javax.ejb.Stateless; @Stateless (name="HelloBeanExample" , mappedName="ejb/HelloBean") public class HelloBean implements HelloBeanRemote { @Override public String sayHello(){ return "hola"; } } Main class (another project) import com.test.HelloBeanRemote; import javax.naming.Context; import javax.naming.InitialContext; public class Main { public void runTest()throws Exception{ Context ctx = new InitialContext(); HelloBeanRemote bean = (HelloBeanRemote)ctx.lookup("java:global/Test/HelloBeanExample!com.test.HelloBeanRemote"); System.out.println(bean.sayHello()); } public static void main(String[] args)throws Exception { Main main = new Main(); main.runTest(); } } Well, what is my problem? JNDI entry for this EJB cannot be found! java.lang.NullPointerException at com.sun.enterprise.naming.impl.SerialContext.getRemoteProvider(SerialContext.java:297) at com.sun.enterprise.naming.impl.SerialContext.getProvider(SerialContext.java:271) at com.sun.enterprise.naming.impl.SerialContext.lookup(SerialContext.java:430) at javax.naming.InitialContext.lookup(InitialContext.java:392) at testdesktop.Main.runTest(Main.java:22) at testdesktop.Main.main(Main.java:31) Exception in thread "main" javax.naming.NamingException: Lookup failed for 'java:global/Test/HelloBeanExample!com.test.HelloBeanRemote' in SerialContext [Root exception is javax.naming.NamingException: Unable to acquire SerialContextProvider for SerialContext [Root exception is java.lang.NullPointerException]] at com.sun.enterprise.naming.impl.SerialContext.lookup(SerialContext.java:442) at javax.naming.InitialContext.lookup(InitialContext.java:392) at testdesktop.Main.runTest(Main.java:22) at testdesktop.Main.main(Main.java:31) Caused by: javax.naming.NamingException: Unable to acquire SerialContextProvider for SerialContext [Root exception is java.lang.NullPointerException] at com.sun.enterprise.naming.impl.SerialContext.getProvider(SerialContext.java:276) at com.sun.enterprise.naming.impl.SerialContext.lookup(SerialContext.java:430) ... 3 more Caused by: java.lang.NullPointerException at com.sun.enterprise.naming.impl.SerialContext.getRemoteProvider(SerialContext.java:297) at com.sun.enterprise.naming.impl.SerialContext.getProvider(SerialContext.java:271) ... 4 more Java Result: 1 I've trying with different JNDI entries but nothing works (I got this entries from NetBeans console): INFO: Portable JNDI names for EJB HelloBeanExample : [java:global/Test/HelloBeanExample, java:global/Test/HelloBeanExample!com.test.HelloBeanRemote] INFO: Glassfish-specific (Non-portable) JNDI names for EJB HelloBeanExample : [ejb/HelloBean, ejb/HelloBean#com.test.HelloBeanRemote] So I tried with the following entries but I got the same exception : java:global/Test/HelloBeanExample java:global/Test/HelloBeanExample!com.test.HelloBeanRemote ejb/HelloBean ejb/HelloBean#com.test.HelloBeanRemote I'm using Netbeans 6.8 and Glassfish v3!

  • EJB3 - using 2 persistence units within a transaction (Exception: Local transaction already has 1 no

    - by Sorcha
    I am trying to use 2 persistence units within the same transaction in a JEE application deployed on Glassfish. The 2 persistence units are defined in persistence.xml, as follows: <persistence-unit name="BeachWater"> <jta-data-source>jdbc/BeachWater</jta-data-source> ... <persistence-unit name="LIMS"> <jta-data-source>jdbc/BeachWaterLIMS</jta-data-source> ... These persistence units correspond to JDBC resources and connection pools which I had defined in Glassfish as follows (include one here as both are identical apart from names & database connection info): JDBC Resource: JNDI Name: jdbc/BeachWaterLIMS Pool Name: BEACHWATER_LIMS Connection Pool: Name: BEACHWATER_LIMS Datasource Classname: com.microsoft.sqlserver.jdbc.SQLServerConnectionPoolDataSource Resource Type: javax.sql.ConnectionPoolDataSource There are 3 stateless session beans, LimsServiceBean, AnalysisServiceBean and AnalysisDataTransformationServiceBean. Here are the relevant snippets from LimsServiceBean: @PersistenceContext(unitName = "LIMS") EntityManager em; ... public ArrayList<Sample> getLatestLIMSData() { Query q = em.createNamedQuery("Sample.findBySubTypeStatus"); return new ArrayList<Sample>(q.getResultList()); } From AnalysisServiceBean: @PersistenceContext(unitName = "BeachWater") EntityManager em; ... public ArrayList<AnalysisType> getAllAnalysisTypes() { Query q = em.createNamedQuery("AnalysisType.findAll"); return new ArrayList<AnalysisType>(q.getResultList()); } And from AnalysisDataTransformationServiceBean: @EJB private AnalysisService analysisService; @EJB private LimsService limsService; public void transformData() { List<AnalysisType> analysisTypes = analysisService.getAllAnalysisTypes(); ArrayList<Sample> samples = limsService.getLatestLIMSData(); This call to limsService.getLatestLIMSData() caused the following exception: [exec] Caused by: javax.ejb.TransactionRolledbackLocalException: Exception thrown from bean; nested exception is: Exception [TOPLINK-4002] (Oracle TopLink Essentials - 2.1 (Build b60e-fcs (12/23/2008))): oracle.toplink.essentials.exceptions.DatabaseException [exec] Internal Exception: java.sql.SQLException: Error in allocating a connection. Cause: java.lang.IllegalStateException: Local transaction already has 1 non-XA Resource: cannot add more resources. Having consulted this page, http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ms378484.aspx (among many others), I tried changing the definition of the connection pools to: Connection Pool: Name: BEACHWATER_LIMS Datasource Classname: com.microsoft.sqlserver.jdbc.SQLServerXADataSource Resource Type: javax.sql.XADataSource Ping via the Glassfish admin console succeeds, but call to analysisService.getAllAnalysisTypes() now throws an exception: Caused by: javax.ejb.TransactionRolledbackLocalException: Exception thrown from bean; nested exception is: Exception [TOPLINK-4002] (Oracle TopLink Essentials - 2.1 (Build b60e-fcs (12/23/2008))): oracle.toplink.essentials.exceptions.DatabaseException Internal Exception: java.sql.SQLException: Error in allocating a connection. Cause: javax.transaction.SystemException Any ideas?

  • Singleton design pattern vs Singleton beans in Spring container

    - by Peeyush
    As we all know we have beans as singleton by default in Spring container and if we have a web application based on Spring framework then in that case do we really need to implement Singleton design pattern to hold global data rather than just creating a bean through spring. Please bear with me if I'm not able to explain what I actually meant to ask.

  • Problem in Apache CXF (Simple Frontend): 'Already connected'

    - by seanizer
    I am using apache CXF for the first time. I am trying to establish a connection based on the CXF simple front end (Configuration notes) technology. I can't really see what I've done wrong, but I am getting a weird error (see below). I have also posted this question to [email protected], but I haven't received a response yet. Perhaps someone here can help. The service bean that is wrapped here is a Spring / JPA service that does not know anything about the web, I want to use simple frontend to publish it as a web service without having to annotate it with Jax-ws etc. (This works in theory). Here's my configuration: Server: <beans xmlns="http://www.springframework.org/schema/beans" xmlns:xsi="http://www.w3.org/2001/XMLSchema-instance" xmlns:simple="http://cxf.apache.org/simple" xmlns:soap="http://cxf.apache.org/bindings/soap" xmlns:context="http://www.springframework.org/schema/context" xmlns:cs="http://[www.mycompany.com]/coupon/service" xsi:schemaLocation="http://www.springframework.org/schema/beans http://www.springframework.org/schema/beans/spring-beans-3.0.xsd http://cxf.apache.org/bindings/soap http://cxf.apache.org/schemas/configuration/soap.xsd http://cxf.apache.org/simple http://cxf.apache.org/schemas/simple.xsd http://www.springframework.org/schema/context http://www.springframework.org/schema/context/spring-context-3.0.xsd" default-autowire="byType" > <import resource="classpath:META-INF/cxf/cxf.xml" /> <import resource="classpath:META-INF/cxf/cxf-extension-soap.xml" /> <import resource="classpath:META-INF/cxf/cxf-extension-http.xml" /> <import resource="classpath:META-INF/cxf/cxf-extension-http-binding.xml" /> <import resource="classpath:META-INF/cxf/cxf-servlet.xml" /> <import resource="classpath*:persistenceContext.xml" /> <!—my service implementation --> <!-- serviceClass points to an interface --> <simple:server id="server" serviceBean="couponService" serviceClass="[com.mycompany].MyServiceInterface" bindingId="http://apache.org/cxf/binding/http" address="/${wsdl.path}" serviceName="cs:couponService" endpointName="cs:couponServicePort" > <simple:dataBinding> <bean class="org.apache.cxf.aegis.databinding.AegisDatabinding" /> </simple:dataBinding> <simple:binding> <soap:soapBinding version="1.2" mtomEnabled="true" /> </simple:binding> </simple:server> <context:property-placeholder location="classpath:service.properties" /> </beans> Client: <beans xmlns="http://www.springframework.org/schema/beans" xmlns:simple="http://cxf.apache.org/simple" xmlns:soap="http://cxf.apache.org/bindings/soap" xmlns:xsi="http://www.w3.org/2001/XMLSchema-instance" xmlns:aop="http://www.springframework.org/schema/aop" xmlns:context="http://www.springframework.org/schema/context" xmlns:oxm=http://www.springframework.org/schema/oxm xmlns:cs="http://[www.mycompany.com]/coupon/service" xsi:schemaLocation="http://www.springframework.org/schema/beans http://www.springframework.org/schema/beans/spring-beans-3.0.xsd http://cxf.apache.org/bindings/soap http://cxf.apache.org/schemas/configuration/soap.xsd http://cxf.apache.org/simple http://cxf.apache.org/schemas/simple.xsd http://www.springframework.org/schema/aop http://www.springframework.org/schema/aop/spring-aop-3.0.xsd http://www.springframework.org/schema/context http://www.springframework.org/schema/context/spring-context-3.0.xsd http://www.springframework.org/schema/oxm http://www.springframework.org/schema/oxm/spring-oxm-3.0.xsd" default-autowire="byType" > <import resource="classpath:META-INF/cxf/cxf.xml" /> <import resource="classpath:META-INF/cxf/cxf-extension-http.xml" /> <import resource="classpath:META-INF/cxf/cxf-extension-http-binding.xml" /> <import resource="classpath:META-INF/cxf/cxf-extension-soap.xml" /> <simple:client id="couponService" wsdlLocation="${wsdl.url}?wsdl" serviceName="cs:couponService" endpointName="cs:couponServicePort" transportId="http://schemas.xmlsoap.org/soap/http" address="${wsdl.url}" bindingId="http://apache.org/cxf/binding/http" serviceClass="[com.mycompany].MyServiceInterface"> <simple:dataBinding> <bean class="org.apache.cxf.aegis.databinding.AegisDatabinding" /> </simple:dataBinding> <simple:binding> <soap:soapBinding mtomEnabled="true" version="1.2" /> </simple:binding> </simple:client> <context:property-placeholder location="classpath:service.properties" /> On the client side, I inject the generated service into my web application (I am using wicket but that should be irrelevant) and when I call service methods on it I get an IllegalStateException from java.net.HttpURLConnection saying the connection is already open.   • Infinite loop using Spring Security - Login page is protected even though it should allow anonymous

    - by Tai Squared
    I have a Spring application (Spring version 2.5.6.SEC01, Spring Security version 2.0.5) with the following setup: web.xml <welcome-file-list> <welcome-file> index.jsp </welcome-file> </welcome-file-list> The index.jsp page is in the WebContent directory and simply contains a redirect: <c:redirect url="/login.htm"/> In the appname-servlet.xml, there is a view resolver to point to the jsp pages in WEB-INF/jsp <bean id="viewResolver" class="org.springframework.web.servlet.view.InternalResourceViewResolver"> <property name="viewClass" value="org.springframework.web.servlet.view.JstlView" /> <property name="prefix" value="/WEB-INF/jsp/" /> <property name="suffix" value=".jsp" /> </bean> In the security-config.xml file, I have the following configuration: <http> <!-- Restrict URLs based on role --> <intercept-url pattern="/WEB-INF/jsp/login.jsp*" access="ROLE_ANONYMOUS" /> <intercept-url pattern="/WEB-INF/jsp/header.jsp*" access="ROLE_ANONYMOUS" /> <intercept-url pattern="/WEB-INF/jsp/footer.jsp*" access="ROLE_ANONYMOUS" /> <intercept-url pattern="/login*" access="ROLE_ANONYMOUS" /> <intercept-url pattern="/index.jsp" access="ROLE_ANONYMOUS" /> <intercept-url pattern="/logoutSuccess*" access="ROLE_ANONYMOUS" /> <intercept-url pattern="/css/**" filters="none" /> <intercept-url pattern="/images/**" filters="none" /> <intercept-url pattern="/**" access="ROLE_ANONYMOUS" /> <form-login login-page="/login.jsp"/> </http> <authentication-provider> <jdbc-user-service data-source-ref="dataSource" /> </authentication-provider> However, I can't even navigate to the login page and get the following error in the log: WARNING: The login page is being protected by the filter chain, but you don't appear to have anonymous authentication enabled. This is almost certainly an error. I've tried changing the ROLE_ANONYMOUS to IS_AUTHENTICATED_ANONYMOUSLY, changing the login-page to index.jsp, login.htm, and adding different intercept-url values, but I can't get it so the login page is accesible and security applies to the other pages. What do I have to change to avoid this loop?

  • EJB3 Transaction Propogation

    - by Matt S.
    I have a stateless bean something like: @Stateless public class MyStatelessBean implements MyStatelessLocal, MyStatelessRemote { @PersistenceContext(unitName="myPC") private EntityManager mgr; @TransationAttribute(TransactionAttributeType.SUPPORTED) public void processObjects(List<Object> objs) { // this method just processes the data; no need for a transaction for(Object obj : objs) { this.process(obj); } } @TransationAttribute(TransactionAttributeType.REQUIRES_NEW) public void process(Object obj) { // do some work with obj that must be in the scope of a transaction this.mgr.merge(obj); // ... this.mgr.merge(obj); // ... this.mgr.flush(); } } The typically usage then is the client would call processObjects(...), which doesn't actually interact with the entity manager. It does what it needs to do and calls process(...) individually for each object to process. The duration of process(...) is relatively short, but processObjects(...) could take a very long time to run through everything. Therefore I don't want it to maintain an open transaction. I do need the individual process(...) operations to operate within their own transaction. This should be a new transaction for every call. Lastly I'd like to keep the option open for the client to call process(...) directly. I've tried a number of different transaction types: never, not supported, supported (on processObjects) and required, requires new (on process) but I get TransactionRequiredException every time merge() is called. I've been able to make it work by splitting up the methods into two different beans: @Stateless @TransationAttribute(TransactionAttributeType.NOT_SUPPORTED) public class MyStatelessBean1 implements MyStatelessLocal1, MyStatelessRemote1 { @EJB private MyStatelessBean2 myBean2; public void processObjects(List<Object> objs) { // this method just processes the data; no need for a transaction for(Object obj : objs) { this.myBean2.process(obj); } } } @Stateless public class MyStatelessBean2 implements MyStatelessLocal2, MyStatelessRemote2 { @PersistenceContext(unitName="myPC") private EntityManager mgr; @TransationAttribute(TransactionAttributeType.REQUIRES_NEW) public void process(Object obj) { // do some work with obj that must be in the scope of a transaction this.mgr.merge(obj); // ... this.mgr.merge(obj); // ... this.mgr.flush(); } } but I'm still curious if it's possible to accomplish this in one class. It looks to me like the transaction manager only operates at the bean level, even when individual methods are given more specific annotations. So if I mark one method in a way to prevent the transaction from starting calling other methods within that same instance will also not create a transaction, no matter how they're marked? I'm using JBoss Application Server 4.2.1.GA, but non-specific answers are welcome / preferred.

  • Problem running a simple EJB application

    - by Spi1988
    I am currently running a simple EJB application using a stateless Session Bean. I am working on NetBeans 6.8 with Personal Glassfish 3.0 and I have installed on my system both the Java EE and the Java SE. I don't know whether it is relevent but I am running Windows7 64-bit version. The Session Bean I implemented has just one method sayHello(); which just prints hello on the screen. When I try to run the application I'm getting the following error: pre-init: init-private: init-userdir: init-user: init-project: do-init: post-init: init-check: init: deps-jar: deps-j2ee-archive: MyEnterprise-app-client.init: MyEnterprise-ejb.init: MyEnterprise-ejb.deps-jar: MyEnterprise-ejb.compile: MyEnterprise-ejb.library-inclusion-in-manifest: MyEnterprise-ejb.dist-ear: MyEnterprise-app-client.deps-jar: MyEnterprise-app-client.compile: MyEnterprise-app-client.library-inclusion-in-manifest: MyEnterprise-app-client.dist-ear: MyEnterprise-ejb.init: MyEnterprise-ejb.deps-jar: MyEnterprise-ejb.compile: MyEnterprise-ejb.library-inclusion-in-manifest: MyEnterprise-ejb.dist-ear: pre-pre-compile: pre-compile: do-compile: post-compile: compile: pre-dist: post-dist: dist-directory-deploy: pre-run-deploy: Starting Personal GlassFish v3 Domain Personal GlassFish v3 Domain is running. • Am I using EJBs properly?

    - by kgrad
    I am using a JEE6 stack including JPA 2.0, JSF 2.0, EJB 3.1 etc. The way my architecture is setup is the following: I have JPA annotated DAOs using hibernate as my JPA provider. I have JSF Managed beans which correspond to my facelet/xhtml pages. I have EJBs that handle all of my database requests. My XHTML pages have JSF EL which make calls to my Managed beans. My managed beans contain references to my DAO entities which are managed by EJBs. For example, I have a user entity which is mapped to a db table. I have a user EJB which handles all CRUD operations that return Users. I have a page that edits a user. The highlevel workflow would be: navigate to user edit page - EL calls a method located in the managed bean that loads a user. The method calls userEJB.loadUser(user) from the EJB to get the user from the database. The user is edited and submit - a function is called in the managed bean which calls a function in the EJB to save the user. etc. I am running into issues accessing my data within my JSF pages using EJBs. I am having a lot of problems with lazy initialization errors, which I believe is due to how I have set things up. For example, I have a Client entity that has a List of users which are lazily loaded. In order to get a client I call a method in my EJB which goes to the database, finds a client and returns it. Later on i wish to access this clients list of users, in order to do so i have to go back to the EJB by calling some sort of method in order to load those users (since they are lazily loaded). This means that I have to create a method such as public List<User> getUserListByClient(Client c) { c = em.merge(c); return c.getUserList(); } The only purpose of this method is to load the users (and I'm not even positive this approach is good or works). If i was doing session management myself, I would like just leave the session open for the entire request and access the property directly, this would be fine as the session would be open anyway, there seems to be this one extra layer of indirection in EJBs which is making things difficult for me. I do like EJBs as I like the fact that they are controlled by the container, pooled, offer transaction management for free etc. However, I get the feeling that I am using them incorrectly, or I have set up my JSF app incorrectly. Any feedback would be greatly appreciated. thanks,

  • Result set mapping in Grails / GORM

    - by armandino
    I want to map the result of a native SQL query to a simple bean in grails, similar to what the @SqlResultSetMapping annotation does. For example, given a query select x.foo, y.bar, z.baz from //etc... map the result to class FooBarBaz { String foo String bar String baz } Can anyone provide an example of how to do this in grails? Thanks in advance.

  • Spring AOP pointcut that matches annotation on interface

    - by seanizer
    Hello, this is my first post here, so I apologize in advance for any stupidity on my side. I have a service class implemented in Java 6 / Spring 3 that needs an annotation to restrict access by role. I have defined an annotation called RequiredPermission that has as its value attribute one or more values from an enum called OperationType: public @interface RequiredPermission { /** * One or more {@link OperationType}s that map to the permissions required * to execute this method. * * @return */ OperationType[] value();} public enum OperationType { TYPE1, TYPE2; } package com.mycompany.myservice; public interface MyService{ @RequiredPermission(OperationType.TYPE1) void myMethod( MyParameterObject obj ); } package com.mycompany.myserviceimpl; public class MyServiceImpl implements MyService{ public myMethod( MyParameterObject obj ){ // do stuff here } } I also have the following aspect definition: /** * Security advice around methods that are annotated with * {@link RequiredPermission}. * * @param pjp * @param param * @param requiredPermission * @return * @throws Throwable */ @Around(value = "execution(public *" + " com.mycompany.myserviceimpl.*(..))" + " && args(param)" + // parameter object " && @annotation( requiredPermission )" // permission annotation , argNames = "param, requiredPermission") public Object processRequest(final ProceedingJoinPoint pjp, final MyParameterObject param, final RequiredPermission requiredPermission) throws Throwable { if(userService.userHasRoles(param.getUsername(),requiredPermission.values()){ return pjp.proceed(); }else{ throw new SorryButYouAreNotAllowedToDoThatException( param.getUsername(),requiredPermission.value()); } } The parameter object contains a user name and I want to look up the required role for the user before allowing access to the method. When I put the annotation on the method in MyServiceImpl, everything works just fine, the pointcut is matched and the aspect kicks in. However, I believe the annotation is part of the service contract and should be published with the interface in a separate API package. And obviously, I would not like to put the annotation on both service definition and implementation (DRY). I know there are cases in Spring AOP where aspects are triggered by annotations one interface methods (e.g. Transactional). Is there a special syntax here or is it just plain impossible out of the box. PS: I have not posted my spring config, as it seems to be working just fine. And no, those are neither my original class nor method names. Thanks in advance, Sean PPS: Actually, here is the relevant part of my spring config: <aop:aspectj-autoproxy proxy-target-class="false" /> <bean class="com.mycompany.aspect.MyAspect"> <property name="userService" ref="userService" /> </bean>

  • JSF trimming white spaces

    - by msharma
    HI, I have an input field in which I want to trim any leading/trailing whitespaces. We are using JSF and binding the input field to a backing bean in the jsp using: <h:inputText id="inputSN" value="#{regBean.inputSN}" maxlength="10"/> My question is that besides validation can this be done in the jsp? I know we can also do this using the trim() java function in the Handler, but just wondering if there is a more elegant way to achieve this in JSF. Thanks.

    I am trying to populate couple of select lists on a form and I am using @ModelAttribute to annotate the get method for these lists. • When should I use Dependency Injection and when utility methods?

    - by Roman
    I have a Java EE project with Spring IoC container. I've just found in Utils class static method sendMail(long list of params). I don't know why but I feel that it would look better if we had separate class (Spring bean with singleton scope) which will be responsible for sending email. But I can't find any arguments which can prove my position. So, are there any pros (or cons) in using DI in this (rather general) situation?

  • How does 'binding' in JSF work?

    - by Roman
    I've created custom component which shows chart. Now I need to make binding support for this component i.e. generated chart-image should be available (as array of bytes) to backing bean via binding mechanism. I'd like to know some general info about binding implementation techniques. Any links and examples are welcome as well. Thanks in advance!

  • What's a good 2nd level cache for JEE applications?

    - by Hank
    Can anyone recommend a good 2nd level object caching solution for JEE 6 applications, and give background to your recommendation? I'm using JPA 2.0 as persistence provider. I am particularly worried about having to run the cache client as a single-thread / singleton bean. Is that the case? If so, is that an issue? I've good experience using memcached from a PHP webapp, but PHP is of course single-threaded, so that was never an issue...
