• Run Dialog: Tab Key dont complete commands

  I like to use the Tab key to complete/skip commands/links in Shells/Browsers when typing. But when I hit the tab key in "Run Dialog" causes focus leave Text box, so i'm forced to leave home keys to use arrow keys. Is there a way change this behavior? Edit: I found here a flag that enables autocomplete in Run Dialog. This doesn't solve the question, but it helps when the command you want is the first option listed, because you just press enter instead of moving to arrow key and select the command. In my case this solves about 80% of cases.

• < key triggers sticky alt on Windows 7

  When using a code editor like Notepad++ or Eclipse I'm experiencing a rather annoying problem: each time I type the < key the keyboard latches into some unexpected mode whereby the subsequent keypress behaves as if the alt key were being held down. The only way to return to normal mode is to hit the escape key twice immediately after I type a < character. The keyboard is a Microsoft Comfort Curve 2000 and the OS is Windows 7. Does anyone have any idea what I should do to stop this behaviour? Thanks

• ssh connection with full tab key support

  I have Ubuntu 10.04 installation. When I open terminal, tab key works fine e.g. i type "apt-get install mysql" then press tab and see all options. But when I connect via ssh - tab key works only before first space. So it will do nothing in above example. I tried connect with different clients (ssh, putty, etc), and always same behavior. My question is: how to make tab key work properly? Is problem in server or client?

  First, sorry if this question has already been asked/answered - I've searched but perhaps I haven't recognised the answer.... What we have is a cluster of servers which need to access a single remote server using sftp. We are migrating from one remote server to another at the same (remote) location. We also want to refresh the public/private key pairs on the configuration as part of an ongoing security review. My question is - can we have multiple public/private key pairs for the same user between server A and server B? I want to do this to allow for cutover testing - but am concerned that the software checking keys may only try one of each type (rsa/dsa?) before rejecting the connection method and moving to the next type of key. Hope it's a straightforward question - please let me know if I need to supply more details. Thanks in advance Bruce

• Key is not detected in xev neither showkey -k in Ubuntu 10.04 in a Virtualbox VM.

  My question mark key in my keyboard isn't working. ("?"). I've tried to use xev and showkey -k to try to identify at least it's code and manually use xmodmap to mao this key. Unfortunately, the keys aren't being detected in neither utilities. I'm using Ubuntu 10.04 in a Virtual Machine, and my Kernel is 2.6.32-22-generic. What can this be? It's not a special multimedia key, it's a simple one. I would like to understand what exactly is happening so at least I can try to better debug this issue.

• Confused about encryption with public and private keys (which to use for encryption)

  I am making a licensing system when clients ask my server for a license and I send them a license if they are permitted to have one. On my current system I encrypt the license using a single private key and have the public key embedded into the client application that they use to decrypt the license. It works! Others have told me that I should be encrypting with the public key on the server and distributing the private key to clients. I have searched the web and can see that sometimes they use the private key to encrypt and other times they use the public key to encrypt. In this case what am I supposed to do?

• Problem comparing keys in Appengine/Python

  I'm trying to create a relationship between "tables" with Appengine/Python. Imagine I have a "table" for items, and a table for colors. I save the color of an item by saving the color key as an atribute of the item. That's working well, but this particular piece of code is not working: <select id="colorKey" name="colorKey"> {% for color in colors %} <option value="{{ color.key }}"{% if color.key = item.colorKey %} selected="selected"{% endif %}> {{ color.name }} - {{ item.colorKey }} - {{ color.key }} </option> {% endfor %} </select> Since the {{ item.colorKey }} and {{ color.key }} variables are actually the same chain of characters, I only can think in a problem with the types. {{ item.colorKey }} is a string for sure. But maybe {{ color.key }} is not?

More of than I need it to work under high loads and large amounts of data. Simplified I have 3 types of objects: Product Tag ProductTag Product: key - string key name - string .... - some other fields Tag: key - string key name - unique tag words ProductTag: product_key - foreign key referring to product tag_key - foreign key referring to tag rating - this is rating of tag for this product Each product may have 0 or many tags. Tag may be assigned to 1 or many products. Means relation between products and tags is many-to-many in terms of relational databases. Value of "rating" is updated "very" often. I need to be run the following queries Select objects by keys Select tags for product ordered by rating Select products by tag order by rating Update rating by product_key and tag_key The most important is to make these queries really fast on large amounts of data, considering that rating is constantly updated.

  I've seen lots of "de-duplicate this xml" questions but everyone wants the first node or the nodes are identical. I have a bit of a bigger puzzle. I have a list of articles in XML, a relevant snippet is shown: <item><key>Article1</key><stamp>100</stamp></item> <item><key>Article1</key><stamp>130</stamp></item> <item><key>Article2</key><stamp>800</stamp></item> <item><key>Article1</key><stamp>180</stamp></item> <item><key>Article3</key><stamp>900</stamp></item> <item><key>Article3</key><stamp>950</stamp></item> <item><key>Article4</key><stamp>990</stamp></item> <item><key>Article5</key><stamp>999</stamp></item> I'd like a list of nodes where the keys are unique and where the last instance is returned, not the first: Stamp (integer) is always increasing for elements of a particular key. Ideally I'd like "largest stamp" but they're always in order so the shortcut is ok. Desired result: (Order doesn't really matter.) <item><key>Article2</key><stamp>800</stamp></item> <item><key>Article1</key><stamp>180</stamp></item> <item><key>Article3</key><stamp>950</stamp></item> <item><key>Article4</key><stamp>990</stamp></item> <item><key>Article5</key><stamp>999</stamp></item> I'm somewhat confused on how to get this list. • Using Public/Private keys in reverse

  Hi, I have a situation where I need to make some data available for reading by anyone from a specific device, where the data is pre-loaded on the device, but I cannot allow anyone to create their own device and populate it with their own data in the same format. I know this sounds a little crazy, but there is a good reason! I was planning to use Public Key cryptography, encrypting the data with a public key, but then publishing the private key to anyone who wants to read the data. However, after looking at the RSACryptoServiceProvider and how it works it looks like I cannot just publish the private key as the private key can be used to create the public key. Could someone confirm that suspicion, or give me some hints on how I might be able to make this work! Many Thanks.

  I have two Oracle 9i 64 bit servers, dev and prod. Calling a procedure from a c# app with parameter array binding, prod executes the procedure simultaneously for each value in the parameter array, but dev executes for each value serially. So, if the sproc does: select count(*) into cnt from mytable where id = 123; if cnt = 0 then insert into mytable (id) values (123); end if; Assuming the table initially does not have an id = 123 row. Dev gets cnt = 0 for the first array parameter value, then 1 for each of the subsequent. Prod gets cnt = 0 for all array parameter values and inserts id 123 for each. Is this a configuration difference, an illusion due to speed difference, something else?

• IIS7 binding to subdomain causing authentication errors

  I'm trying to bind a IIS web site to a subdomain, which is causing authentication errors. First I'll explain what I've done to set it up. This is the fist time I do this, so please correct me if I'm wrong. The web server is a stand-alone Windows Server 2008 R2 x64, running IIS7 with .NET Framework 4. I have the following A-records, pointing to my server: server.mydomain.com *.server.mydomain.com So all subdomains of server.mydomain.com points to the server. In IIS7 I have a web site on port 8080, with a virtual directory (named virtual) that is using Windows Authentication. I have one binding on the web site pointing to all unassigned IP addresses, port 8080 and having a host name of sub.server.mydomain.com. Now, shouldn't I be able to access the virtual directory through: http://sub.server.mydomain.com/virtual That is not working. However, I can access it through: http://sub.server.mydomain.com:8080/virtual But, it won't let me authenticate using a Windows account (Server\Username). A windows account that I can authenticate with, when accessing the site through http://localhost:8080/virtual. What am I missing here?

• How to stop IIS7 from listening on a specific IP address and port?

  I am trying to install Apache on Windows Server 2008. The installation ends with a warning that the IP address I configured Apache to listen on cannot be bound. When I use netstat -a -p tcp to see if any processes are listening on the IP address and port I see several entires .. one of which shows as listening on 0.0.0.0:80. Here is a partial list of the output. Proto Local Address Foreign Address State TCP 0.0.0.0:80 MYSERVERNAME:0 LISTENING This looks to be IIS7 listening on all IP addresses on port 80. The confusing thing is that I stopped IIS7. All websites are shown as stopped. I tried iisreset /STOP as well as using the IIS7 Manager, yet something is still listening on 0.0.0.0:80. I have even made sure that every web site is bound to another IP address other than the one I want freed for Apache. Has anyone else run into this?

• Using local proxy to specify used NIC on Windows 7?

  I'm running Windows 7 and have 2 NIC installed, both are connected to the Internet (nic#1 LTE, nic#2 DSL). Windows 7 will only allow me to specify a binding order and a metric on which interface to chose but i can't specify this on an application level. My Idea was to use a local proxy server and use the proxy server whenever i want to use nic#2. I tried wingate and free proxy, both applications will let me chose the interface i want to use but this setting seems to have no effect? • Use Port Binding Permissions on Windows

  This should be an easy one, but I can't find anything on it. I want to use IIS Express with my local user account to bind to a port on my netbios name. For example, http://computername:1315. My local user account doesn't have permission to do this, but I have administrator access on the machine. Anyone know how to grant permission to my local user account to bind to a port with my computer name instead of localhost? This is on Windows 7.

• How do I run multiple MVC apps within a subdomain on IIS7?

  Hello and thanks for looking. Background I am currently wrapping up a development contract and the client would like for me to push a build of the application to their IIS 7-based server in which they would like to run multiple MVC apps. One of the issues I have off of the bat is that this server is already a subdomain on their larger network. So, if I enter SERVERNAME in my browser, it automatically directs to SERVERNAME.COMPANYNAME.COM. Now, this is just fine if I place my application in the default website/root. In this scenario, clicking a link that requests admin.html directs to `SERVERNAME.COMPANYNAME.COM/admin.html' as usual. BUT they want me to place the app in a subdomain on this server so that they can also run other apps on the same server. So I assume that I need MYAPP.SERVERNAME.COMPANYNAME.COM but I have no idea how to do that. Complicating matters is that my app and the future ones they wish to install are all MVC based which intercepts and re-writes URLs. I assume that this takes care of itself if I can just successfully get my app into a subdomain to begin with. What I have tried Creating a new site on the server in it's own app pool Setting the binding for that site to MYAPP.SERVERNAME.COMPANYNAME.COM Setting the binding for that site to MYAPP Setting the binding for that site to MYAPP.SERVERNAME Setting the binding for that site to MYAPP.SERVERNAME.COM Setting the binding for that site to MYAPP.COMPANYNAME.COM Nothing is working.   I'm using EF4 and STE w/ Silverlight. I'm having trouble deleting child records from my primary entity. For some reason I can remove child entities if their foreign key to my primary entity is part of their Primary Key. But if it's not, they don't get removed.   Hello, What I understand about RSA is that Alice can create a public and a private key combination, and then send the public key over to Bob. And then afterward Bob can encrypt something using the public key and Alice will use the public and private key combo to decrypt it. However, how can Alice encrypt something to be sent over to Bob? How would Bob decrypt it? I ask because I'm curious how when I log onto my banking site, my bank sends me data such as my online statements. How does my browser decrypt that information? I don't have the private key.

Here are the create table statements: Create table project ( pname varchar(20) not null, primary key(pname) ); create table entitytype( entityname varchar(20) not null, toppos char(100), leftpos char(100), pname varchar(20) not null, primary key(entityname), foreign key(pname) references project(pname) on delete cascade on update cascade ); Now when i try to insert any values into entitytype table i am getting the following error: ERROR: insert or update on table "entitytype" violates foreign key constraint "entitytype_pname_fkey" Detail: Key (pname)=(494) is not present in table "project". Can someone please shed some light on what i am doing wrong. Any input will be of great help. Thank you.

  I want to use encryption algorithm available in .Net Security namespace, however I am trying to understand how to generate the key, for example AES algorithm needs 256 bits, that 16 bytes key, and some initialization vector, which is also few bytes. Can I use any combination of values in my Key and IV? e.g. all zeros in Key and IV are valid or not? I know the detail of algorithm which does lots of xors, so zero wont serve any good, but are there any restrictions by these algorithms? Or Do I have to generate the key using some program and save it permanently somewhere?

• Pros and cons of programmatically enforcing foreign key than in database

  It is causing so much trouble in terms of development just by letting database enforcing foreign key. Especially during unit test I can’t drop table due to foreign key constrains, I need to create table in such an order that foreign key constrain warning won’t get triggered. In reality I don’t see too much point of letting database enforcing the foreign key constrains. If the application has been properly designed there should not be any manual database manipulation other than select queries. I just want to make sure that I am not digging myself into a hole by not having foreign key constrains in database and leaving it solely to the application’s responsibility. Am I missing anything? P.S. my real unit tests (not those that use mocking) will drop existing tables if the structure of underlying domain object has been modified.

  Hi everybody, I need to programmatically modify the Access Descriptors on a known Registry key during product installation. The way I want it to work is: The installer is run in Administrative mode. A Registry key is created. A function (the one I need) queries the ACL from the key. If this function finds that the group 'Users' already has write access, nothing should be done. If not, it should add a new permission allowing write access to the 'Users' group. The permissions are saved for the Registry key. This question is similar to Setting Registry key write permissions using .NET, however, I need a C++/Win32 implementation. Thanks in advance
