    I have an OpenSolaris machine here; I'm using it for the first time because I want to try out ZFS. ZFS itself is working great, but I cannot get opensolaris to authenticate against our openldap directory running on Linux with md5 or sha passwords; only crypt passwords work. I'd prefer not to have to use crypt passwords; is there some magic setting I'm missing that will enable md5 passwords to authenticate?

    I am trying to install the drivers for my HTC Magic (2.1) and my iPod Touch "3G" 8GB (4.1), but when I plug them in, neither of them successfully install their drivers. They work perfectly fine when running on Windows natively, why are they behaving like this on Virtual Box? I am using Windows 7 (AMD64) - Natively & Non Natively. However, it never, ever shows up in the start menu for anyones computer: Is there some magic string I can type in to get that menu item?     Is it possible to boot the Acer Aspire One PC from an SD card? I have bricked an Aspire One, but it does not even start the BIOS. Aspire One have this issue and a BIOS update usually work and it helped me once in the past, but this time it's all over, and the BIOS update fails. It still reads the SD card with the magic Ctrl + Esc shortcut used to launch the BIOS update. Can I trick the computer into booting somehow using this shortcut?

This is what i used: file_count = sum((len(f) for _, _, f in os.walk('path'))) This works fine when we specify the path as a string in quotes, but when I enter a variable name that holds the path, type(file_count) is a generator object, and hence cannot be used as an integer. How to solve this and why does this happen?

The thing is that when I put \n in single quote it somehow turns out as to be replaced with a space: str_ireplace(array('&', '+', '\n'), array('', '', '&'), $response) "id=1 name=name gender=gender age=age friends=friends" But when I put \n in double quotes then it works just fine: str_ireplace(array('&', '+', "\n"), array('', '', '&'), $response) "id=1&name=name&gender=gender&age=age&friends=friends" Why is that so?

    I have several very large XML files and I'm trying to find the lines that contain non-ASCII characters. I've tried the following: grep -e "[\x{00FF}-\x{FFFF}]" file.xml But this returns every line in the file, regardless of whether the line contains a character in the range specified. Do I have the syntax wrong or am I doing something else wrong? I've also tried: egrep "[\x{00FF}-\x{FFFF}]" file.xml (with both single and double quotes surrounding the pattern).

It is possible to write ::: in C++ without using quotes or anything like this and the compiler will accept it (macros are prohibited too). And the same is true for C# too, but in C#, you have to write ???. I think C++ will use the :: scope operator and C# will use ? : , but I do not know the answers to them. Any idea?

    I'm using the net.sf.json.JSONObject to create some data to be sent to a front end application, and I don't like the ways ts adding quotation marks to every field name. For example: myString = new JSONObject().put("JSON", "Hello, World!").toString(); produces the string {"JSON": "Hello, World"}. What I want it to return is {JSON: "Hello, World"} - without quotes around "JSON". What do I have to do to make that happen?
