    Hello, I don't know if this is the right place to post this but here I go. I'm working on a project as a student for my internship and I need help. I have a masterPage with horizontal menu items as shown in the attached screen-captured. What I want to achieved is: Have a default image and description from SQL server database When a user mouse-over the menu item, display an image from a SQL server database and it description based on the mouse-over menu item. When user mouse-out, display default image and description from sql database. I have a also created user interface for inserting images to the database.     I'm trying to change the default color for the options menu which is white. I want a black background for every item on the options menu. I've tried some shoots like android:itemBackground="#000000" on the item element within the menu element but it doesn't work. I don't know if this is doable or not. Any idea would be welcome! :)

    I've already figured out how to add a menu item to the right click context menu of the windows explorer using the registry. I currently have it set to launch my application when my menu item is clicked. However, I want to know if there is a way to know what file is was right clicked on. I thought it would have been sent as a command line argument to the launched program, but it's not. Any ideas?

    Hi, I have ubuntu 9.10 desktop VMware VM with the default grub2 installed. There is some weird problem with this VM. When you clone this vm and have a customization script run, the cloned machine crashes at first boot (VMware does not officially suport customizaing Ubuntu newer than 8.04). After the creash the Grub boot menu is displayed but there is not time out. I checked /boot/grub/grub.cfg and it does indeed show a timeout of 10 seconds. Nothing happens till I select an option with the keyboard. The second time the Ubuntu loads, it does not crash. My question is, how do I make the grub menu timeout in that case? Thanks.

  • Messaging in local network with .NET

    Hi All, I need to implement some form of communication mechanism in my application, to send notifications/messages from one application instance to all the others. This is a normal scenario where someone adds and item or deletes and item and you want to notify other users that this has happened. The application runs on the client and connects to a database on the local network. So its not like all clients access a server instance of the application. So from what I know I could use MessageQueues or some form of Database polling where I have a table that stores all the messages (not ideal). Issue is I need to implement this very quickly, so sadly can't go very complex but need the quickest easiest solution. thanks for the help!

DoSomething2 3. DoSomething3 ... Please choose: [TextBox] The user can either choose from the Main Menu (by clicking an item) or enter the item number in the textbox. For example, if the user clicks DoSomething3 in the Main Menu (or alternatively enters 3 in the textbox), another form will be opened and hide the main form. What would be the best way to implement it? Specifically, I would like to know how I make so that choosing from the menu and entering a number in the textbox fire the same event. Any help or hints will be appreciated.

    I downloaded the GCM project from git and i was able to start the server (app engine for java) and also compile the client apk on the device. On startup the device successfully registers with the server and I can see the registration id when i go to http://myserverip:8080/_ah/admin/. The problem is when i hit the 'Send Message' button there is a message 'Single message queued for registration id ' and it doesn't do anything. Below is a screenshot of the error i noticed on the terminal. Am i missing something. Any help is appreciated. Thanks. .

When the user moves his cursor away the hideme() functions gets called. How would I get the Menu to persist while the user moves his mouse away from the Link to above the Menu?     I'm trying to implement a custom header menu in my Android application and I'm wondering what the standard or best practice for creating a header menu. I'm thinking something like the facebook app that displays a log and has some action items like triggering a search and possibly return back to the main activity. Tab Layout doesn't seem to be what I'm looking for. I found a tutorial here that might be close to what I'm looking for but not sure. It seems a bit redundant to instantiate a menu in every Activity. Seems like there would be a way to decouple the Activity from the menu, or at least more loosely couple it. Perhaps I need to implement something with Fragments but I'm sort of new, so I'm not sure yet. Looking forward to your suggestions or hearing how you've implemented something like this. Thanks!

    In Nautilus, I have upon right-clicking a directory, the option to open a Terminal with the prompt in the selected directory. I think this is very handy and I use it a lot. Now I would like to use Guake instead of the classic terminal. Is there a way to do this? I'm struggling with nautilus-actions. I can open Guake allright (i.e. it drops down from the top since it's permanently loaded), but the prompt isn't located at the directory of choice. In addition, it's one more mouseclick to open the terminal (if it would work), I would prefer a shorter way. Anyone any idea how to manage this? (or could this be a possible feature request?)   • How to install an application manually into Natty's Application list

    I am trying to install ZendStudio 8 (Eclipse based) on 11.04 and am kinda stuck at the part were I can get it into the Applications list. ZendStudio prior to version 8 came with a magic .bin which installed it all no problems, but now it simply comes as a folder all set up to be run as-is. I have copied this folder to /opt/ZendStudio, and I can launch the program using /opt/ZendStudio/ZendStudio but in the Unity Launcher it shows up with a grey box and a big Question Mark as it's icon. However, I'd like it to be show up in the Applications list so I can search for it and load it like a normal application. I also want to Pin it to the launcher so it stays there the whole time, and I tried this with running it directly but it didn't work and it didn't load up the application icon. Any ideas how I can finish the install so it is in my menus etc?

    I recently installed Ubuntu 12.10 on my Dell Inspiron 7520. Everything is good except the hyperactive fans.The graphic cards are Intel and AMD Radeon 7730. I am trying to get away with the fan problem butI don't really know the terminal hence I am just trying to use the commands available on the forums.But this time I don't know what did I do that now I don't have the utility bar, launch bar and the basic features like the window minimize and maximize don't work. I have this impression I may have uninstalled some drivers . But still not sure what to do. Feel a need of dire help!

    The nautilus menubar appears behind the top taskbar, I have tried to uninstall appmenu-gtk3 and restart nautilus as suggested but no joy. There is a duplicate but it is closed with no proper solution, disabling nautilus is not a solution! Thanks all Note: Not resolvable, it is a bug, wait for an official fix! A fresh install corrected the problem. The only work around is to disable Nautilus as your desktop manager. I suggest the easiest way is to use gnome-tweak-tool found in the repos. Thanks all

  • Can I theme the menubar to look different if a window is maximized?

    I know you can theme the Unity menubar in GTK+3 using CSS, but is there a way to theme it differently depending on whether a window is maximized? This would be useful for e.g. themes where the menubar should appear standalone in the absence of a maximized window, but then seamlessly blend into the top of such a window when there is one. Preferably, I would like to be able to do this from within the theme files.

    I'd like to be able to tweak the set of shortcuts on the right side of the menubar in 12.04 (e.g. remove the email shortcut, remove the wifi shortcut on my laptop, add a lock screen shortcut so I can lock the screen with a single click rather than facing the choice between two clicks and Ctrl-Alt-L). Is this possible? The only thing I can find to configure in the settings is the date/time display.

    Is there a way to (alphabetically or in other way) to sort program list in the Start=Programs menu? When installing / uninstalling programs this menu is added-removed, but not sorted, and sometimes takes time to find a nested program in this list. I have Windows XP, but think the same situation could be applied and on the other versions of Windows.
