  • How to stop nant exec task putting ( ) around command line

    I have looked through the nant documentation and sourceforge faq and can't find the answer to this question. The exec task in nant puts ( ) around the command line parameters it generates, so for example this task below would generate: mallow ( -1 ) <exec program="${build.tools.wix}\mallow.exe" workingdir="${build.out.xxx}"> <arg value="-1" /> </exec> The other open source tool I'm using - mallow - cannot handle this. Does anyone know of a way to stop nant putting the ( ) around the arguments? Thanks.

    Hi All, Very new to this, and I have no idea where to start. I want to schedule a python script using Task Scheduler in Windows 7. When I add a "New Action", I place the following command as the script/program : c:\python25\python.exe As the argument, I add the full path to the location of my python script path\script.py Here is my script: import datetime import csv import os now = datetime.datetime.now() print str(now) os.chdir('C:/Users/Brock/Desktop/') print os.getcwd() writer = csv.writer(open("test task.csv", "wb")) row = ('This is a test', str(now)) writer.writerow(row) I got an error saying the script could not run. I could use ScheduledExecutorFactoryBean together with MethodInvokingRunnable to supply arguments.   • SSIS FTP Task problem with UNIX server

    Hi, I would like to ask if there's a known issue with the FTP Task of SSIS 2005 on UNIX servers(HP UX B.11.23.). As per checking, we were able to ftp files on Windows Server but not on Unix. Though I can browse the ftp path of the UNIX server from my windows exlporer. I can even manually copy files. But when I tried uploading file thru SSIS FTP task, it does'nt work. Please help.   • Scheduled task username changed

    Hi, I created a user on our exchange server, but later changed the username. Now, when I create a scheduled task for that user, and change it's settings (run only when logged on), the username is automatically changed back to the old username. What's causing this and how do I make sure the correct, new username is used for the task (otherwise it won't run), security settings are okay. I did already log in with a different user to delete the profile on the computer and tried again with this user to no avail. The OS is windows xp, the exchange server is on windows server 2003.   • $(MSBuildStartupDirectory) in Visual Studio points to different places on different machines

    In a large solution, I'm integrating Gendarme into Visual Studio 2008 compilation process. I am using GendarmeMsBuild task along with a .targets file to add a AfterBuild target to every project in the solution. I am looking for a way to import this file into .csproj files in a way that wouldn't require me to change the include path (the projects have different nesting levels). Apart from using NuGet SolutionDir variable, best way to solve this seemed to be to use $(MSBuildStartupDirectory). However, as it turns out, on some machines, using the same version of VS 2008 (as same updates installed, as far as I was able to check) this resolves to the solution directory, and on others to c:\Program Files (x86)\Microsoft Visual Studio 9.0\Common7\IDE. How can I either get this to always resolve to the solution folder or obtain the base folder in another consistent way?

    I am at present developing a mvc4 project that comunicates to a set of wcf services. I am setting such up in tfs build for a team of developers. I am very much a newbie to fxcop and code analysis in general. I am currently researching it and have some questions following this: Is it recommended to use the rules that come with fxcop? Should it be included as a build task during builds? What is the value from it? Are there guidelines to what rules to abide by or is it best to go with the default? Is it correct to run the analysis as a post build event? I am a newbie to fxcop and would like some feedback. I am as it is integrating stylecop in to my build.

    I'm changing password every month for all scheduled tasks I created in Task Scheduler. This is because our security policy expires our password every month. Due to increasing number of scheduled tasks I'm creating, it eats up a lot of time in just changing password within Task Scheduler. My question is: Is there a way in script to change password in one run specifying the tasks, DOMAIN\username, and password? I know there's a security risk in putting the password in script. The password in script will be removed after the running it.

  • Need help writing a recurring task scheduler.

    I need to write a tool that will run a recurring task on a user configurable schedule. I'll write it in C# 3.5 and it will run on XP, Windows 7, or Windows Server 2008. The tasks take about 20 minutes to complete. The users will probably want to set up several configurations: e.g, daily, weekly, and monthly cycles. Using Task Scheduler is not an option. The user will schedule recurrences through an interface similar to Outlook's recurring appointment dialog. Once they set up the schedule they will start it up and it should sit in the system tray and kick off its tasks at the appointed times, then send mail to indicate it has finished. What is the best way to write this so that it doesn't eat up resources, lock up the host, or otherwise misbehave?

    I have an Ant script running a standard -task after taking in an inputed password: <input message="Password:" addproperty="password"> <handler classname="org.apache.tools.ant.input.SecureInputHandler" /> </input> <exec executable="/bin/sh" input="${password}" failonerror="true"> <arg line='-c "myScript.sh"' /> </exec> The script myScript.sh prompts the user for a password, and, it was my understanding that from the Ant documentation that input is supposed relay input into whatever the <exec> task is executing, but instead I get (for entering the password foobar) [exec] Failed to open /usr/local/foobar which is followed by a stack trace from my script complaining about an incorrect password...so obviously I've understood the documentation wrong. Does anybody know how to handle prompted input from external scripts in Ant?

  • Can I batch based on a Property (not just Items)?

    I have a property group, like so: <PropertyGroup> <Platform>Win32;x64</Platform> </PropertyGroup> And I want to batch in an Exec task, like so: <Exec Command='devenv MySolution.sln /Build "Release|%(Platform)"' /> But of course, as written I get an error: error MSB4095: The item metadata %(Platform) is being referenced without an item name. Specify the item name by using %(itemname.Platform). Can I batch tasks on properties that are lists? I suppose I could hack it by creating a placeholder ItemGroup with metadata and batch on that.

  • Flickering Task Bar on Full Screen Windows Mobile 6 Apps

    Just finishing off an update to an application written in VB.NET that used to run fine under CE.NET 4.2. Deployment platform is now Windows Mobile 6.1. The application runs in full screen, however whenever a new form is opened, the task bar, i.e. the bar with the start button comes to the fore and then the new form takes over. This is particularly annoying as I have a form that has many sub forms which are 128,128 and still the task bar flashes and obscures part of the user input screen. Has anyone comes across this? Any known workarounds?

  • How do I get Visual Studio build process to pass condition to library(external) project

    I have tried several solutions for this problem. Enough to know I do not know enough about MSBuild to do this elegantly but I feel like there should be a method. I have a set of libraries for working with .net projects. A few of the projects utilize System.Web.Mvc - which recently released Version 2 - and we are looking forward to the upgrade. Currently sites which reference this library reference it directly by the project(csproj) on the developer's computer - not a built version of the library so that changes and source code case easily be viewed when dealing code from this library. This works quite well and would prefer to not have to switch to binary references (but will if this is the only solution). The problem I have is that because of some of the functionality that was added onto the MVC1 based library (view engines, model binders etc) several of the sites reliant on these libraries need to stay on MVC1 until we have full evaluated and tested them on MVC2. I would prefer to not have to fork or have two copies on each dev machine.   • Why Do I See the "In Recovery" Msg, and How Can I Prevent it?

    The project I'm working on creates a local copy of the SQL Server database for each SVN branch you work on. We're running SQL Server 2008 Express with Advanced Services on our local machine to host it. When we create a new branch, the build script will create a new database with the ID of that branch, creates the schema objects, and copies over a selection of data from the production shadow server. After the database is created, it, or other databases on the local machine, will often go into "In Recovery" mode for several minutes. After several refreshes it comes up and is happy, but will occasionally go back into "In Recovery" mode. The database is created in simple recovery mode. The file names aren't specified, so it uses default paths for files. The size of the database after loading data is ~400 megs. It is running in SQL Server 2005 compatibility mode. The command that creates the database is: sqlcmd -S $(DBServer) -Q "IF NOT EXISTS (SELECT [name] FROM sysdatabases WHERE [name] = '$(DBName)') BEGIN CREATE DATABASE [$(DBName)]; print 'Created $(DBName)'; END" ...where $(DBName) and $(DBServer) are MSBuild parameters. I got a nice clean log file this morning. When I turned on my computer it starts all five databases. However, two of them show transactions being rolled forward and backwards.   • A separate user for each task?

    I just got a VPS sver the other day, I'm new to server administration, but not that new to Ubuntu (11.04). I use it in my living room as the HTPC, and I had a previous VPS that I used on and off for a team speak server. This one I'm setting up for long term use. So I would like to know the best practice when it comes to websites and tasks that I have the server proforming. I understand that it could be beneficial to separate each website into it's own usergroup or under its own username. I would setup nginx so that it could read all of the users directors (and thus each website) but could not touch anything else. The same with the TeamSpeak, should I make a user for TeamSpeak so that it operates within its own confined area or is this overkill? I do have access to root on the sever and my current plan is to run about 4 websites and a TeamSpeak server. My stack is Linux (Ubuntu 11.04 LTS), nginx, and PHP 5.4.3 (using the PDO SQLite 3 built in driver for the database). Should PHP have it's own user group or is it ok to place it in with nginx?

  • Notepad++ doesn't launch (notepad++.exe present in the task manager)

    Yesterday Notepad++ was runnable, but today it doesn't. In spite of the notepad++.exe (with its 13 process) presence is the tasks manager, Notepad++ window doesn't launch. I tried to uninstall and re-install the sofware (and the first launch works), notepad.exe is present in C:\Windows and C:\Windows\Sytem32 folders. The last file opened with notepad++ was a xml file which isn't readable by other softwares because of the following error message : The '<' caracter can not be used in a value attribut What can I do please ?

  • High RAM usage, not seen in task manager

    Hi! I am using Windows 7 64-bit 7600, with 4Gb of RAM. I have a serious problem, since something uses a lot of RAM(3.94Gb) and I see "stairs" in taskmanager, it rises to +3Gb RAM and it drops to about 2Gb and then rises slowly again, and suddenly drops. I tryed installing this version again and other versions, newer ones, but no effect. Ive even tryed disconnecting other harddrives while I installed it, and then installed NOD32 and updated it. How could I know what is using that much RAM? P.S.: I was suspecting superfetch service, I disabled it, restarted pc, and it didnt work, since the memory is the highest point when I login with password, it is really annoying since I need about 1minute to see my desktop, neither alone try anything else. After loging in it slowly drops and after random time it starts rising again. That doesnt happen immediately after a fresh windows install. And how the drivers go, I tryed older drivers for GPU, and newest ones.
