  • Wordpress Custom Post Type adding tags

  • How do I select from a stored procedure in Sybase?

    My DBA has constructed me a stored procedure in a Sybase database, for which I don't have the definition. If I run it, it returns a resultset with a set of columns and values. I would like to SELECT further to reduce the rows in the result set. Is this possible? From this question it seems like I could insert the results into a temporary table, but I'm not sure I've got permissions to do this. Is there any way I can SELECT certain rows, or if not, can someone give me example code for simulating with a temporary table?

  • Why does the assignment operator return a value and not a reference?

    I saw the example below explained on this site and thought both answers would be 20 and not the 10 that is returned. He wrote that both the comma and assignment returns a value, not a reference. I don't quite understand what that means. I understand it in relation to passing variables into functions or methods i.e primitive types are passed in by value and objects by reference but I'm not sure how it applies in this case. I also understand about context and the value of 'this' (after help from stackoverflow) but I thought in both cases I would still be invoking it as a method, foo.bar() which would mean foo is the context but it seems both result in a function call bar(). Why is that and what does it all mean? var x = 10; var foo = { x: 20, bar: function () {return this.x;} }; (foo.bar = foo.bar)();//returns 10 (foo.bar, foo.bar)();//returns 10

  • Can't access UI from a delegate?

    I got this code: GrooveOnDownload *dlg = [[GrooveOnDownload alloc] init]; NSURLDownload *dw = [[NSURLDownload alloc] initWithRequest:request delegate:dlg]; It starts the download in a delegate class with outlets for UI controls.   • How do I search the MediaStore for a specific directory instead of entire external storage?

    In my app I have an option that allows users to browse for audio files on their phone to add to the app. I am having trouble however with creating a faster way of processing the query code. Currently it searches the entire external storage and causes the phone to prompt a force close/wait warning. I would like to take the code I have posted below and make it more efficient by either searching in a specific folder on the phone or by streamlining the process to make the file search quicker. I am not sure how to do this however.   • Detect when home button is pressed iOS

    I have several iOS apps that all use the same port to listen for a network beacon. On the main view I use viewWillDisappear to close the port when another view is opened, which was working great. Then I noticed if I pressed the home button from the main view controller without opening another view to close the port, then the port stays open and non of my other apps can listen on that port any more. I then tried using viewWillUnload, but that doesn't seem to get called when I press the home button. -(void)viewWillUnload { //[super viewWillUnload]; NSLog(@"View will unload"); [udpSocket close]; udpSocket = nil; } View will unload is never displayed in the console, which leads me to believe that the method is never getting called. Is there a way to detect when the home button is pressed so I can close my port?

  • loop prematurely quitting

    This loop works fine but prematurely quits at times. I set a piece of code in it so that I can view the random number. It only closes prematurely when the random number is equal to the highest numbered question the user inputs (Example...a user wants 10 questions, if the random number is 10 the program quits.) I do not understand the instructions on how to copy my data to another app. Note: The target application must enable remote_api and must include this application’s ID in its HTTP_X_APPENGINE_INBOUND_APPID list. WARNING This application’s data is writable. We can only guarantee a consistent copy when the data being copied is read-only. Note: Blobs (binary data) will not be copied.     I'm doing a steganography project where I read in bytes from a ppm file and add the least significant bit to an array. So once 8 bytes are read in, I would have 8 bits in my array, which should equal some character in a hidden message. Is there an easy way to convert an array of 0's and 1's into an ascii value? For example, the array: char bits[] = "0,1,1,1,0,1,0,0" would equal 't'.

  • Why won't JPA delete owned entities when the owner entity loses the reference to them?

    Hi! I've got a JPA entity "Request", that owns a List of Answers (also JPA entities). Here's how it's defined in Request.java: @OneToMany(cascade= CascadeType.ALL, mappedBy="request") private List<Answer> answerList; And in Answer.java: @JoinColumn(name = "request", referencedColumnName="id") @ManyToOne(optional = false) private Request request; In the course of program execution, the Request's List of Answers may have Answers added or removed from it, or the actual List object may be replaced. My problem is thus: when I merge a Request to the database, the Answer objects that used to be in the List are kept in the database -- that is, Answer objects that the Request no longer holds a reference to (indirectly, via a List) are not deleted. This is not the behaviour I desire, as if I merge a Request to the database, and then fetch it again, its Answers List may not be the same. Am I making some programming mistake? Is there an annotaion or setting that will ensure that the Answers in the database are exactly the Answers in the Request's List? A solution is to keep references to the original Answers List and then use the EntityManager to remove each old Answer before merging the Request, but it seems like there should be a cleaner way.     Huge thanks for the help in this thread - Click td, select radio button in jQuery But now I'm having trouble that it won't change the class of the cell, even though I have binded the 'change' trigger in jQuery like so: $("td input[type=radio]").bind('change click', function () { $('td').removeClass('selected'); $(this).parent('td').addClass('selected'); }); $("td").click(function () { $('input:radio', this).attr('checked', true); }); Hope that makes sense. If you click the radio button, or move between them using the keyboard, the cell's class changes just fine. However if you trigger this by clicking the cell it doesn't change the class :( Thanks

  • Where should I report mistakes in Android documentation?

    Hi all, This is my first post ever -- I love the Android SDK (been at it for a week), but I did notice a small typo in the official documentation that needs correcting. Not sure if this is where I post it, but on this page: http://developer.android.com/reference/android/os/CountDownTimer.html within the example source code, the source says "CountdownTimer" on line one when it should say "CountDownTimer" (notice the capitalization of the letter "D"). An easy fix for one with programming experience, but the code as written will not compile, which could be confusing for someone using this code for the first time. Is this where documentation bugs are submitted, and if not, where should I go to request the fix? Thanks all!

  • Calculate difference in days ActiveSupport:TimeWithZone in the most "rubyish" style?

    I have a feeling someone is going to point me to another question that answers this but I've been searching with no luck over this simple issue. I have a Activerecord with a datetime property. It returns as an ActiveSupport:TimeWithZone. I know I can't compare that to DateTime.now because that doesn't include a zone so I need to use Time.zone. Makes sense. What I'm wondering is stylewise is there a "cleaner" way to do this than subtracting and dividing the result by 86400? Here's what I do: ((Time.zone.now - myActiveRecord.visit_date)/86400).to_i Works but seems un-rubyish and I feel like I'm missing something. Should I be casting, comparing or converting some other route or is this really the typical way to do this in rails? Appreciate any tips or a link to a question that already covers this. Thank you

  • Are there any FTP programs which can automatically send the contents of a folder to a remote server?

    Are there any FTP programs which can automatically copy (or rather 'move') the contents of a folder to a remote server? I have of course googled this but only really found one or two ancient products which look really clunky and unmaintained. I was wondering if there's a way to do this from the command line or any better solution to the base problem. In more detail, new files get written to a folder every few hours. These new files need to be FTP'd elsewhere and then deleted. Mirroring or synchonisation systems are probably out of the picture as we need to delete the source files once they've been successfully transferred. If it's easier, the 'solution' could pull the files off the server (rather than the server pushing them to the client). The computers will both be Windows OS.

  • An efficient way to store view counts for objects?

    I maintain an application where users are able to store images, and then share them. The system is powered by MongoDB at the back end. Most of the image depiction pages are cached as flat HTML files, but I can run some code just before loading the file. I've decided to implement a view count for the system. I am wondering what is the best storage place for that. It should be like Memcached but it should save the viewcounts every hour or so, so even if our server has to be restarted we won't lose the view counts. What is the best solution for that (preferably with a PHP extension as a client)?
