• How to stop gecko-mediaplayer from buffering endlessly?

  I'm using the gecko-mediaplayer plugin (formerly "mplayerplug-in"). The totem plugin was not always working correctly with Opera, and I'm actually depending on the [Copy URL] feature of gecko-mediaplayer. However that plugin does some inept buffering of videos. It seems to default to 20% caching regardless of what you set in the preferences window. This is quite annoying for big video files. But appearantly it's by design http://groups.google.com/group/gecko-mediaplayer/browse_thread/thread/b7f0f5a3cedc8979 The Gentoo forums listed some workaround http://forums.gentoo.org/viewtopic-t-816690.html - but ~/.config/gecko-mediaplayer/gecko-mediaplayer.conf is not working in the Ubuntu version. Does anyone know the actual way to configure the cache= size. Which is the real configuration filename under Ubuntu?

  I have a CISCO 802.11b WIFI Mini PCI LAN card in my IBM ThinkPad T30 laptop. Is this wireless card compatible with Lubuntu? I have Lubuntu installed and it just won't connect. It keeps saying that it is trying to configure then it says that it is connected but it does not work. I know that the wireless network is working correctly because I can connect to it with all my other devices and it works on this very same laptop when I am running Windows. I added the following commands to blacklist.conf, but still no luck blacklist padlock_aes blacklist geode_aes

• How to make browser offer "remember password"

  What properties login form needs to have to trigger "remember password" for all (or most) browsers? Background: For years I have been using Opera, and the rule has been that almost anything that looks like login form triggers this feature. Now I'm exploring other browsers, and surprisingly find that one of login forms I visit most often, Roundcube login page, does not trigger this feature neither in Chromium nor Firefox (tried various versions and page setups of RC). Since it's on my VPS, I could patch it up and eventually even send that to RC development team, but I have the unnerving feeling that this must have been solved over and over, and it's just me being blind or something. So again: is there any consensus between browser developer as to when this featue should be triggered? Is there a best practice for webmasters to tell the browser "this is the login page"? Or are all browsers doing their own heuristics?

JPAC is based on a Marvell 88F6282 Kirkwood ARM SOC, we partnered with Hilsher from just outside Frankfurt, Germany for the mini pci ProfiBus controllers, Revolution Robotics from Corvallis, Oregon wrote the Java SE Embedded for ARM to Hilscher Linux driver interface. Revolution Robotics also designed the HTML5 application that runs on a Marvell ARM tablet to actually send and receive commands via ProfiBus to a slave device. • Is there a general rule of thumb for which browsers to optimize your site for?

  I have a site (recently relaunched it with a new design) that I have put off optimizing for ie7 for far too long. I was just never too worried about it. The site is optimized for ie8-10, Firefox, Chrome, Opera, Safari, etc.. Then I asked myself, is it even worth it? I checked traffic over the last couple months before the relaunch and about 1.3% of the traffic is coming from ie7. So, is there a general cuttoff percentage when you would not optimize for a specific browser?

• Problem in Loading certain Websites in Ubuntu 11.10

  I have a DSL connection in Ubuntu 11.04 and am having problems loading content from certain websites mostly providing CDN services. I have tried every suggestion asked at problem loading internet pages as I have the same problem. Also tried to remove the DNS Cache and Browser Cache. I have tried using Google DNS Server: 8.8.8.8 and 8.8.4.4, but nothing seems to work. Though when I browse the websites in Windows XP then it does not pose any problem. This problem has come up only few days ago and has affected every browser(Chrome, Firefox and Opera) in Ubuntu 11.04. Thanks in advance.

• Will Apple abandon OpenCL?

  I am developing OpenCL applications, amongst others for MacOS. The new Macbook pro 13 inch comes with an Intel HD Graphics 3000 card so it seams reasonable to assume all their mainstream computers like Macbook and Mac mini will also come out with this Intel graphics card soon. OpenCL is not available for Intel graphics cards. Intel having a terrible reputation in developing graphics drivers and Apple knowing this makes me wonder Apple is abandoning OpenCL already again. Especially considering OpenCL should run anywhere, not only on high end systems. Developing applications only for the high end Macs with dedicated graphics hardware or for previous generation hardware with the Geforce 320M would not be a feasible option for me. Does anybody have any thoughts on this?

• System network service uncompatable after harddrive change and format

  After changing out the hard drive in my dell optiplex 750, and reinstalling ubuntu, my computer tells me the system network services are not compatable. Because my cd drive does not work, I installed this by placing the hard drive in another computer an dusign the mini.iso to install it. I need networking capabilities becuase I want to use this computer as a web server. The on-board ethernet card is a intel 82566 something. • Unable to connect to wireless network

  A real newbie here. Just downloaded Ubuntu 12.10, put on USB stick and have booted it on my other PC after modifying the boot sequence to boot from USB before hard drive where Windows XP lives. Have no problems with Windows and my wireless but not with Ubuntu. The PC is a Dell Latitude D630 laptop. According to Windows XP , the wireless card is a Dell Wireless 1490 Dual Band WLAN Mini-Card, my IP address is 192.168.0.193, subnet mask is 255.255.255.0, assigned by DHCP, SSID is HOME , type 802.11 and default gateway is 192.168.0.1. Ok, back to booting from USB and TRY option, I am Editing Network connections, I have created/configured "Wireless connection 1" with SSID of HOME and the only other thing I have changed is on the "Editing IPV4 routes for Wireless connection 1 I have enterred 192.168.0.193 , netmask 255.255.255.0 and gateway 192.168.0.1 Anyways , no go. • How can menu bars that require a right click be activated?

  I've noticed that NetworkManager only has a single, left or right, click menu and no longer has an About menu option to show it's splash screen. In fact all the top bar mini short cut icons have been amputated and crippled leaving them with no rights. This severely impacts on our custom aps., similar to FireFox bookmarks, which can no longer be right clicked to bring up a context menu. It is possible to disengage FF's File|Edit|... menu bar from the top by running it in safe-mode so the menu bar is resident in a window, restoring right clicks, but our aps. do not have "safe modes". How can right clicks in menu bars be restored? reference

  I have a problem that I want you to help me, I am currently making a website, I am building that website on HTML5 and CSS3 technology, every feature I'd like to use I check it first in "CAN I USE", the technology I use most is box-shadow, and I already made some great things with it but, I have a doubt about the percentage of browser that don't support that technology, the percentage of browser that do not support box-shadow is around 17.12%, and if you see the conclusions (show options = other options = show conclusions) they say that that feature isn't ready yet because they are "Waiting for Opera Mini 5.0-6.0 to expire", I personally think that the best that we can do in order to make people update their browsers is not support older browser, but ... am I right thinking like this? will I have bad consecuences if I don't support older browsers? is worth to work twice just to support older browsers? should I still working with box-shadow?

• Icon zoom on gnome panel with mouseover?

  I'm actually quite surprised that I couldn't find any information regarding this question through simple google-ing; I would think that it was something of a no-brainer kind of question. I'm basically trying to figure out if there's any way to have the icons in the side panel/favorites bar magnify as you mouseover them, much like you'd see in any the popular launcher programs (i.e. rocket dock or apple's launcher)? I'm on a netbook with a rather limited amount of screen real estate to work with, so the icons depicting my "favorite applications" have been reduced to a permanent, unsatisfying handful of pixels. Again, it seems to me that this should be a fairly obvious feature to include in the options for the panel, so I'm hoping that there's an easy solution. • Cannot sleep/standby in Ubuntu 12.04

  Yesterday, I installed Ubuntu 12.04 Desktop i386 on my netbook (HP Mini 311c). I am unable to use the sleep mode. When I press the suspend button (or do sudo pm-suspend), the screen flickers but the computer does not power off. Even worse, the screen comes back up and I'm back where I left off. Hibernating does work (although it is not available in Power Management). I have to use pm-hibernate to make that work. I'm using the 3.2.0.20 kernel and Gnome 3.3.92 (Unity, especially compiz, is a resource hog). Before Ubuntu 12.04, I was using Mint Linux 12 with the 3.0 kernel and everything worked fine back then. Any help is much appreciated because this is driving me crazy.

  Hi evryone I have question that really make me mad..I search every where and I couldn't find the answer.pleas read the details carefully: I have broadband (Wan mini-port PPPOE) account from a wierless network near from us...I'm receiving the signal with grid and Alfa AWUS036H wireless usb adapter.In all of windows version I can connect through my broadband when I do these steps 1.setup new connection or network 2.connect to the internet 3.setup new broadband connection then I but the ISP name(not Important just to remember my broadband connection) and then i put the username and password then connect. I can find and connect to my wireless networkbut when I make Dsl connection in ubuntu 12.04LTS and I put the username and password I couldn't connect.. I tried this tool"gnome dial up tool" and wouldn't work.. in other way..(how can I connect to broadband connection through ALFA USB adapter??) my wireless network have a servers when i check with winbox: mac adress ip adress server name version router board verson and I connect PPP through them... any answer will help me ..so we could solve this problem. thanks.

• "Super meatboy"-ish replay

  I'm making a platformer built from mini-levels - and I want to create a sort of a replay of all the player tries that the player did for the level. My question is - what is the best way to record the player's actions in-game, so that I could replay them later when he finishes the level. I thought about recording only the player's input and replay them later on, each on a clone of the player. The problem I have with this is with dynamic obstacles (that could be moved around) - if one clone moves them, it throws the simulation off for the rest of the clones. So then I thought about recording every frame the X/Y of the player, and then just replay it - but that seems it could cause a major memory leak and very ineffective. So - does anyone have any ideas? :)
