    I previously asked how to include Javascript in my page when I split the page into a MasterPage and ContentPlaceHolder (.NET 2.0 app) The issue was I only wanted the javascript functions on THAT page so I couldn't just put them on the masterpage. Based on the answers, I will inlcude common fucntions through MasterPage and can put the page-specific function right on the content page. However, 1 question remains: Events. I have 2 Javascript functions that I wanted to load when the page loads ala the HTML below. How do you load javascript page events on the specific content page? Or in the case below, the OnKeyPress event? <body onkeypress="javascript:keypressed();" onload="javascript:setDivVisibility();">

    Hi Could someone tell me how to add a new line in a text that i enter in a mySql table. I tried using the '\n in the line i entered with INSERT INTO statement but '\n is shown as it is. Actually i have created a table in Ms Access with some data. Ms Access adds new line with '\n. I am converting Ms Access table data into mySql . But when i convert, the '\n is ignored and all the text is shown in one single line when i display it from mySql table on a php form. Can anyone tell me how mySQL can add a new line in a text ?     I am trying to get names from a .txt file. I am using file('filename.txt') but if i use a php for loop to try and trim the names, it comes out on multiple lines: This is the actual line that prints the javascript (NOTE: I am going to be putting these names into a select box, if you can fix the problem at hand the rest of the code should work so unless you a big problem with it you don't need to comment) <?php for($i=1; $i < 27; $i++){ echo "selbox.options[selbox.options.length] = new Option('".lines[$i]."','".$lines[$i]."');\n"; } ?> Heres how it comes out on the browser: selbox.options[selbox.options.length] = new Option('Djamal ABDOUN ','First1 Last1 '); selbox.options[selbox.options.length] = new Option('Chadli AMRI ','First2 Last2 '); I need those to be on one line so i dont get a unterminated string literal js error Any ideas on what i can do here? EDIT: Oh i should probably mention, the $lines var is initiated like this: $lines = file('filename.txt'); and inside that file i have formatted like this First1 Last1 First2 Last2 First3 Last3 etc. and i hit delete after each Last name until the next first name is touching, then hit enter to put it on a new line (Editor is notepad++)

    Hello, I'm writing an IRCd. For this topic it doesn't really matter if you know much about IRC. Its a simple code style problem. Quick overview of the problem: No message may be longer than 512 characters If the message is more, it must be broken into pieces The NAMES reply sends all the nicknames of users on a channel, and quickly grows beyond 512 characters. I currently concocted this marvelous piece of code, it works perfectly. However, its just not "ruby-like". This piece of code is more what you expect in some piece of C code. # 11 is the number of all fixed characters combined in the reply pre_length = 11 + servername.length + mynick.length + channel.name.length list = [""] i = 0 channel.nicks.each do |nick, client| list[i+=1] = "" if list[i].length + nick.length + pre_length > 500 list[i] << "#{channel.mode_char(client)}#{client.nick} " end list.each { |l| send_numeric(RPL_NAMREPLY, channel.name, l.strip) } send_numeric(RPL_ENDOFNAMES, channel.name) So my question is, any ideas to do this more nicely?     I have an access report that generates 36505 pages (un filtered, and about half of each page is taken up by group headers and page headers) , though the footer at the bottom of the report page says "36505 of -29031". This looks like an overflow problem maybe, though I'm confused how it got the current page number of the last page OK, but failed to get total page count. Has anyone dealt with this before?

    I want to give default value to a textarea. The code is something like this: <textarea>{{userSetting.list | join:"NEWLINE"}}</textarea> where userSetting.list is a string list, each item of whom is expected to show in one line. textarea takes the content between the tags as the default value, preserving its line breaks and not interpreting any HTML tags (which means <br>,\n won't work). I have found a solution: {{userSetting.list | join:" " | wordwrap:0}} (there is no whitespace in the list). But obviously it is NOT a good one. Any help would be appreciated.

    I am pulling data into my iphone application using xml. The xml value is then placed in a variable. example variable: 123 London road \n London \n England The variable is then set as a label. I want the line breaks to appear in the label, instead it is printing \n. If i manually set the label value locationLabel.text = @"123 London road \n London \n England" It works as i want it to. Can anyone explain this?

    Hello I have had some misfortune in life - I was unwell and had to stay out of work for an extended period of about 5 years.Before that I used to work as an Oracle/Oracle Ebusiness suite consultant (I was charging very good contract rates). But now I am fully recovered ,feeling sharper than ever. But there arent many opportunities in my areas of expertise in a small market like New Zealand and the long absence is no help either. So for the last 5 months I have been training myself in C# ,ASP .NET,WEB technologies like HTML,JQuery,CSS and also SQL Server.I had some previous experience with JAVA and VB .NET (few months). But I am fully confident of my abilities and believe I can hit the ground running given a chance.I used to be an expert with SQL and C language and these skills are portable to SQL Server and C#. Another problem I face is my age- I am over 50. What is your opinion - Am I doing the right thing. Can I get back into an IT career-I am willing to start all over again at a junior level, I am really facing a crisis in my life.

    Hi Guys! I've implemented Tiny Scrollbar plugin on a website, for good-looking div scrolling. But weird stuff happens when I refresh the page in Safari or Chrome. It seams to clip some of my content. What happens upon a page refresh, that could make it behave like this? Please have a look at mettestentoft.dk I've tried using the same plugin on a simple test page, where a page refresh would make the plugin add a 'scrollbar disable' class to the div, while clicking a link linking to the same page, would make i show as it should. Tiny Scrollbar plugin demopage doesn't seem to have any problems, unless I'm missing it. So my question is: Do I have to do something jQuery-wise, in order for a page to load equally to a linked page? Thank you in advance :)

  • Problem with modifying a page with ajax, and the browser keeping the unmodified page in cache.

    Hey there, I have a situation where my page loads some information from a database, which is then modified through AJAX. I click a link to another page, then use the 'back' button to return to the original page. The changes to the page through AJAX I made before don't appear, because the browser has the unchanged page stored in the cache. Is there a way of fixing this without setting the page not to cache at all? Thanks :)

    I've been trying to use the UIPageViewController to display 3 different nibs for a few days on and off now and have almost got it working. I still have one weird bug that I cant figure out. Basically the app starts, I can scroll between the 3 pages one after another with out any problems, eg: Page1-Page2-Page3 and then back to the start: Page3-Page2-Page1. No Problems. The issue is that if I scroll, for example from Page3-Page2, then BACK to Page3, Page3 Dissappears when it snaps into place. If I scroll to where a forth page would be, then I get Page3.   • SQL - Break a start/end time into 15 minute records

    I've got a record set that consists of a start and end time in two separate fields: id - Int startTime - DateTime endTime - DateTime I'd like to find a way to query a record and return it as X records based on the number of 15 minute intervals found between the start and end times. For example, let's say I have a record like this: id, StartTime, EndTime 1, 1/1/2010 8:28 AM, 1/1/2010 8:47 AM I would return 3 records, the first would represent the 8:15 interval, #2 for the 8:30 interval and then a 3rd for the 8:45 interval. I realize this could be done using logic in an sproc, but we are trying to remain db neutral as we support multiple database engines.

  • how did i break :method -> :delete

    i refactored my entire application and gave it a whole new design. The one thing that seems to be broken is all the original link_to methods I had which were :method = :delete are now getting sent as a GET request. The only thing I did that I can remember that might cause it is delete jquery-rails from the gemfile (I'm just getting it from google ajax). Does anyone have any other ideas what I could have deleted?

    I'm currently taking a year out from University to do an internship at a large (well known) software vendor. I'll be returning to Uni next September for a year to finish my studies. I really want to take a year out after graduation, I won't be doing any programming in this year. Will this make me less competitive when applying for programmer jobs when I get back from my year away? I'm looking to work with the Microsoft technology stack, my internship has been all Java and Unix thus far. The assumption is I won't be taking up a full time offer with the company I interned at (despite the offer).

    I am working on a project where I am required to build a page somewhat similar to the one you see when you visit a website like blockbuster. When you click on browse more you are taken to a page with a bar on top with different page numbers and a drop down to select the number of pages you want to view on that page. I want to include a feature like that on my page but I am not sure where to start. In my page I have list of 200 items which I want to display page by page. I was suggested to use custom tags, but is there a more simpler or efficient way to create that functionality. My web application uses Spring MVC framework and is coded entirely in Java. Any suggestions will be appreciated.
