    I am consuming various XML-over-HTTP web services returning large XML files ( 2MB). What would be the fastest ruby http library to reduce the 'downloading' time? Required features: both GET and POST requests gzip/deflate downloads (Accept-Encoding: deflate, gzip) - very important I am thinking between: open-uri Net::HTTP curb but you can also come with other suggestions. P.S. To parse the response, I am using a pull parser from Nokogiri, so I don't need an integrated solution like rest-client or hpricot.

  • sql query to return items based on text and group ID

    I am not sure how to best describe what I am trying to do (or search for it for that matter) but I am going to try. I have a pre-existing query (stored procedure) that returns items based on 3 specific ID's. What I want to do is to be able to reduce the results even further based upon a column within the results having the exact same string. For some reason I am confused about how to do this, I am drawing a complete blank about this. Please help

    I just downloaded the Google Collections sources and imported them into a new Eclipse project with JDK 1.6. They don't compile for a couple of reasons: javax.annotation.Nullable can not be found javax.annotation.ParametersAreNonnullByDefault can not be found Cannot reduce the visibility of the inherited method #createCollection() from AbstractMultimap + 11 similar ones Name clash: The method forcePut(K, V) of type AbstractBiMap has the same erasure as forcePut(Object, Object) of type BiMap but does not override it + 2 similar ones What am I missing? I also wonder if unit tests for these collections are available to the public.

  • Any tricks to stop flickering in between page transitions?

    Specifically, I am using a .hta to display pages. As the content is local, pages load instantly, but there is flicker as they redraw. Are there any tricks you can use to stop it flickering or reduce the effect? I heard somewhere that page transition effects can help, but does anyone have any ideas? Keep in mind that as its a .hta file, I have more flexibility, and can run vbscript etc. and do fancy things.

    Hi All, I need to create an application that decrypts data that is encrypted using AES with a 512-bit key. What I need to know is whether we can create an AES key of length 512-bits? The documentation says we can create a key of length up to 256-bits.   • Using Hadoop, are my reducers guaranteed to get all the records with the same key?

    I'm running a hadoop job (using hive actually) which is supposed to uniq lines in a lot of text file. More specifically it chooses the most recently timestamped record for each key in the reduce step. Does hadoop guarantee that every record with the same key, output by the map step, will go to a single reducer, even if there are many reducers running across a cluster? I'm worried that the mapper output might be split after the shuffle happens, in the middle of a set of records with the same key.

    This below output come from php json_encode.What we see here is 0849 is twice.Since javascript only use sn to get value why we need the "0" value.The main problem is speed execution.     Hi guys, Maybe I'm googling for the wrong thing but I can't find anything on this. How can I change the line height of a Label element in Flex? I have two labels in a VBox and there is quite a lot of white space between them which I would like to reduce. There's no line height property and setting the height property causes overlap.
