  After issued command to stop pptpd, the pptpd won't stop until all the VPN client has disconnected. • Custom daemon script: works, but does not run at boot / startup

  this is Ubuntu 10.10 Maverick. I have the following shell script in init.d that I want to run as a "daemon" (background service with start/stop/restart really) at system startup. There is a symlink in rc3.d. I tried 4 and 5 too. (Ideally this would initialize before graphical login happens and before a user logs in.) IMPORTANT: the script works 100% as expected and required when testing this with service MetaLeapDaemon start and service MetaLeapDaemon stop. (This shell script calls a Python program which makes sure the appropriate .pid files are both created at startup and deleted at exit.) So generally it works fine but now my only issue is why it will not be run at any of the run-levels I tried. I know for sure it isn't run because the log file it normally creates does not get created. As you can see (by the lack of any uid:gid args in the start-stop-daemon commands) this would currently run only under root, is this forbidden in a default setup?   I am trying to call iPhone zLib to decompress the zlib stream from our HTTP based server, but the code always stop after finishing the first zlib block. Obviously, iPhone SDK is using the standard open Zlib. My doubt is that the parameter for inflateInit2 is not appropriate here. I spent lots of time reading the zlib manual, but it isn't that helpful. Here is the details, your help is appreciated. • How to cleverly stop "while loop" (php)

  I'm having trouble with creating code that echoes a bunch of stuff that is corresponding to the mysql database row. It needs to keep creating the content until all rows are used and then stop. • How to stop rendering invisible faces

  I am making a voxel-based game, and for needs of it, i am creating a block rendering engine. Point is, that i need to generate lots of cubes. Every time i render more than 16x16x16 chunk of theese blocks, my FPS is dropped down hardly, because it renders all 6 faces of all of theese cubes. THat's 24 576 quads, and i dont want that. So, my question is, How to stop rendering vertices(or quads) that are not visible, and therefore increase performance of my game? • How to get the top keys from a hash by value

  I have a hash that I sorted by values greatest to least. How would I go about getting the top 5? There was a post on here that talked about getting only one value. What is the easiest way to get a key with the highest value from a hash in Perl? I understand that so would lets say getting those values add them to an array and delete the element in the hash and then do the process again? Seems like there should be an easier way to do this then that though. • Creating my first F# program in my new &ldquo;Expert F# Book&rdquo;

  So I have a brief hour or so that I can dedicate today to reading my F# book. It’s a public holiday and my wife’s birthday and I have a ton of assignments for UNISA that I need to complete – but I just had to try something in F#. So I read chapter 1 – pretty much an introduction to the rest of the book – it looks good so far. Then I get to chapter 2, called “Getting Started with F# and .NET”. Great, there is a code sample on the first page of the chapter. So I open up VS2010 and create a new F# console project and type in the code which was meant to analyze a string for duplicate words… #light let wordCount text = let words = Split [' '] text let wordset = Set.ofList words let nWords = words.Length let nDups = words.Length - wordSet.Count (nWords, nDups) let showWordCount text = let nWords,nDups = wordCount text printfn "--> %d words in text" nWords printfn "--> %d duplicate words" nDups   So… bad start - VS does not like the “Split” method. It gives me an error message “The value constructor ‘Split’ is not defined”. It also doesn’t like wordSet.Count telling me that the “namespace or module ‘wordSet’ is not defined”. ??? So a bit of googling and it turns out that there was a bit of shuffling of libraries between the CTP of F# and the Beta 2 of F#. To have access to the Split function you need to download the F# PowerPack and hen reference it in your code… I download and install the powerpack and then add the reference to FSharp.Core and FSharp.PowerPack in my project. Still no luck! Some more googling and I get the suggestions I got were something like this…#r "FSharp.PowerPack.dll";; #r "FSharp.PowerPack.Compatibility.dll";; So I add the code above to the top of my Program.fs file and still no joy… I now get an error message saying… Error    1    #r directives may only occur in F# script files (extensions .fsx or .fsscript). Either move this code to a script file, add a '-r' compiler option for this reference or delimit the directive with '#if INTERACTIVE'/'#endif'. So what does that mean? If I put the code straight into the F# interactive it works – but I want to be able to use it in a project. The C# equivalent I would think would be the “Using” keyword. The #r doesn’t seem like it should be in the FSharp code. So I try what the compiler suggests by doing the following…#if INTERACTIVE #r "FSharp.PowerPack.dll";; #r "FSharp.PowerPack.Compatibility.dll";; #endif No luck, the Split method is still not recognized. So wait a second, it mentioned something about FSharp.PowerPack.Compatibility.dll – I haven’t added this as a reference to my project so I add it and remove the two lines of #r code. Partial success – the Split method is now recognized and not underlined, but wordSet.Count is still not working. I look at my code again and it was a case error – the original wordset was mistyped comapred to the wordSet. Some case correction and the compiler is no longer complaining. • How can I reject a Windows "Service Stop" request in ATL 7?

  I have a Windows service built upon ATL 7's CAtlServiceModuleT class. This service serves up COM objects that are used by various applications on the system, and these other applications naturally start getting errors if the service is stopped while they are still running. I know that ATL DLLs solve this problem by returning S_OK in DllCanUnloadNow() if CComModule's GetLockCount() returns 0. That is, it checks to make sure no one is currently using any COM objects served up by the DLL. I want equivalent functionality in the service. Here is what I've done in my override of CAtlServiceModuleT::OnStop(): void CMyServiceModule::OnStop() { if( GetLockCount() != 0 ) { return; } BaseClass::OnStop(); } Now, when the user attempts to Stop the service from the Services panel, they are presented with an error message: Windows could not stop the XYZ service on Local Computer. The service did not return an error. This could be an internal Windows error or an internal service error. If the problem persists, contact your system administrator. The Stop request is indeed refused, but it appears to put the service in a bad state. A second Stop request results in this error message: Windows could not stop the XYZ service on Local Computer. Error 1061: The service cannot accept control messages at this time. Interestingly, the service does actually stop this time (although I'd rather it not, since there are still outstanding COM references). I have two questions: Is it considered bad practice for a service to refuse to stop when asked? Is there a polite way to signify that the Stop request is being refused; one that doesn't put the Service into a bad state?

• android Emulator always stop at "waiting for Home..."

• How to camel-case where consecutive words have numbers?

  Just wondering if anybody has a good convention to follow in this corner-corner-corner case. I really use Java but figured the C# folks might have some good insight too. Say I am trying to name a class where two consecutive words in the class name are numeric (note that the same question could asked about identifier names). Can't get a great example, but think of something like "IEEE 802 16 bit value". Combining consecutive acronyms is doable if you accept classnames such as HttpUrlConnection. But it seriously makes me throw up a little to think of naming the class IEEE80216BitValue. If I had to pick, I'd say that's even worse than IEEE802_16BitValue which looks like a bad mistake. For small numbers, I'd consider IEEE802SixteenBitValue but that doesn't scale that well. Anyone out there have a convention? Seems like Microsoft's naming guidelines are the only ones that describe acronym naming in enough detail to get the job done, but nobody has addressed numbers in classnames.

If we type in now 3992999 the auto-complete function should top showing anything up ...but unfortunately it still does, (could the problem lie within the fact that I am using integers instead of strings or chars?)   How do I get the "back" button seen in my demo to NOT close the browser window? If this can't be prevented, then at least provide them with a confirmation box alerting them the window is trying to close and ask them if they want to continue. I'm using a javascript back button link and forward button link to control the user's history inside a modal/lightbox window. Here's a demo of what is happening... When you begin, the second page will have a link to the modal window, so click that, then click the "back" button in the window as it will take you BACK to the start page.   I am having an issue where in reordering my UITableViewCells, the tableView is not scrolling with the cell. Only a blank row appears and any subsequent scrolling gets an Array out of bounds error without any of my code in the Stack Trace. Here is a quick video of the problem.   Hi, I'm trying to use Dojo dnd Source(1.4.2) to create an interface where I can move some objects from a Source to a Target. It is working fine, but I want to change the behaviour in order to execute a check before actually doing the D&D, so if the check fails, an error message is shown to the user, and the D&D is not made.   I have a video in applications documents folder. I need it to be saved in camera roll. So, I used UISaveVideoAtPathToSavedPhotosAlbum method to save it in camera roll. It's working and I can see the video added to camera roll. But, the problem is every time I execute the application with same video(with same file name), it is added another time in camera roll instead of replacing the old one. So, it is creating the duplicates of the video. How can I make the application work like if a video is present in camera roll and again added with same file name, then old one is replaced by new video.

  Hi there, I have to update a small amount of text in a scrolling UITextView. I'll only be inserting a character where the cursor currently is, and I'll be doing this on a press of a button on my navigation bar. My problem is that whenever I call the setText method of the text view, it jumps to the bottom of the text. I've tried using contentOffset and resetting the selectedRange but it doesn't work!
