• Zabbix Trigger for SELinux (type=AVC) Errors

  I would like to create a trigger in Zabbix to alert me anytime a type=AVC error appears in a CentOS 6 server's /var/log/audit/audit.log file. I've already tried creating a basic log scrape. E.g.: log[/var/log/audit/audit.log,type=AVC,"UTF-8",100] However, it does not work. I believe this is due to the /var/log/audit/audit.log and it's parent folder using the following permissions: drwxr-x---. 2 root root 4096 Apr 20 04:29 . drwxr-xr-x. 13 root root 4096 Apr 14 12:07 .. -rw-------. 1 root root 5948185 Apr 20 15:27 audit.log -r--------. 1 root root 6291566 Apr 20 04:29 audit.log.1 -r--------. 1 root root 6291704 Apr 19 16:56 audit.log.2 -r--------. 1 root root 6291499 Apr 19 05:22 audit.log.3 -r--------. 1 root root 6291552 Apr 18 17:48 audit.log.4 I would prefer not to change the permissions for security reasons. Has anyone done log monitoring of /var/log/audit/audit.log using Zabbix? And if so, how?

• apache permission errors

  I'm trying to set up Apache on a arch-linux box as a testing environment (I'm only using the localhost, not trying to serve anything to the greater web). When setting up Django with mod_wsgi, it recommended that I set up a WSGIScriptAlias from / to /usr/local/django/mysite/apache/django.wsgi . I've done this, as well as added the /usr/.../apache directory to my httpd.conf. When I try to access http://localhost I get a 403 forbidden error. I have no idea why this is happening. Things I've tried so far: 1) chown -R http .../apache 2) chmod -R 777 .../apache 3) using a simple Alias directive to host a static file from that directory. None of these have worked. I'm at a loss for what I'm doing wrong. Below is a relevant excerpt from my httpd.conf: Alias / /usr/local/django/mysite/apache <Directory "/usr/local/django/mysite/apache"> Order deny,allow Allow from all </Directory> So my question is: what am I doing wrong?

• nginx proxy_pass POST 404 errors

GET requests work fine. But whenever I submit a POST request to /app/any/post/url it results in a 404 error. Hitting the url directly in the browser via GET /app/any/post/url hits the app server as expected. I found online other people with similar problems and added proxy_set_header Host $http_host; but this hasn't resolved my issue. Any insights are appreciated. Thanks. • Unable to mount TuneUp DMG and no errors given on Mac

  Simply try to download and run the DMG "installer" from TuneUp on SnowLeopard. It doesn't work, doesn't give any error message and not even Console messages! I've just mounted other DMG files with no problems, both right before and right after trying that one. Anyone knows what could be wrong there? I've actually managed to open it using Springy, so no big worries. But that doesn't answer what's wrong with it. That just shows it's not file corruption.

• Installing MySQL 5.5 manually on Ubuntu 10.04 server, errors about "/tmp/mysql.sock"

  I've set up an Ubuntu server and wanted to install MySQL 5.5. I've been following these MySQL documentation steps. I have libaio dev installed. Everything went fine until I ran bin/mysqld_safe --user=mysql & It runs into an issue and never returns to the shell. The output of mysqld_safe is logging to /usr/local/mysql/data/host_name.err. When I checked that file, it was complaining about /tmp/mysql.sock. I can unfortunately describe just parts of the error, since before I started right now it deleted all the files I've started installing back then by mistake. Should I change the socket to /var/run/mysqld/mysqld.socket after copying the .cnf file to /etc? I've also checked the /var/run/mysqld directory and there is no mysqld.socket. How do I proceed? • Batch copy gives errors, xcopy works fine

  I am writing a general file backup program. It searches the drive for files matching a set of types and then writes them to a folder on the desktop. I wrote it using xcopy on Windows XP but upon learning that xcopy was deprecated in favor of robocopy in Vista and newer, still wanting to maintain compatibility I decided to switch to the non-deprecated copy. This is where the problems begin. I'm trying to fix the copy routine. I thought I had everything sorted out, but it doesn't copy anything. My output is zero files copied for every iteration. • Errors installing the Curl library with PHP/Apache/Windows

  I'm having a hell of a time getting Curl to work with PHP/Apache on my Windows XP 64-bit development box. I have PHP and Apache successfully installed, but when I tried to enable Curl I get the following error (twice) from PHP on Apache startup: "PHP Startup: Unable to load dynamic library 'C:\php\ext\php_curl.dll' - The operating system cannot run %1." I did uncomment the correct line in PHP.ini. I did move the two DLLs (php_curl.dll and ssleay32.dll) into my PHO root, into my System32, even my apache root - but no matter where I put them, PHP can't find them. I keep getting the error above. Anyone have any idea how to remedy this?

• Stuck with Visual Studio 2010 Beta 2 errors

  A ways back I installed Microsoft Visual Studio beta 2. Today I installed Visual Studio 2010 from Dreamspark (the one with the activation key baked in). This resulted in an install with no place to put an activation key (I don't have one anyways), but I still get the following error when I try to start it: Your Microsoft Visual Studio evaluation period has expired. You will need to upgrade Microsoft Visual Studio to the latest release. This didn't go away with a complete uninstall and reinstall, and I have no idea how to fix it. A quick internet search reveals that this is the error message from Beta 2 after the date at which the RTM version went live. I have a feeling that the message is due to some hanging registry entries (I went through the manual uninstall instructions here). Does anyone know how to find and eliminate all vestiges of Beta 2 or something?

  I just installed Apache 2.4 today, and I'm having some issues getting vhost configuration to work correctly. When I go to the site, I receive a 403 forbidden error. The www-data group is the group on the www folder, which I've already given all permissions (r/w/x). I'm really at a loss as to why this is happening. Any thoughts? If I remove the vhost and go straight to the IP address, I get the default, "It works!" page. So I know that it's working. • CentOS, YUM Errors?

  Hi, I am using a Media Temple DV server with CentOS upon trying to install ImageMagick via yum, I get the following error: There was a problem importing one of the Python modules required to run yum. The error leading to this problem was: /usr/lib/python2.4/site-packages/rpm/_rpmmodule.so: undefined symbol: rpmdbCheckTerminate Please install a package which provides this module, or verify that the module is installed correctly. It's possible that the above module doesn't match the current version of Python, which is: 2.4.3 (#1, May 24 2008, 13:47:28) [GCC 4.1.2 20070626 (Red Hat 4.1.2-14)] Can anyone shed some light on what I might be able to do to fix this? • Is the motherboard the cause of these errors?

  Motherboard is : ASUS A7N8X-E Deluxe, Rev1.01, On start up get: "cmos checksum error - defaults loaded" error BIOS is reset everytime and can't boot to Windows off HDD. POST report is ok once I tell it there is no Floppy drive attached and not to seek it. The boot sequence starts then just as get to load windows safe mode options whole PC shuts down. BIOS is reset to defaults again. I've checked the battery and jumpers. Tried a known working battery. Changed Graphics card, changed memory, changed HD to one without an OS. Disconnected DVD drive. PSU is known to be ok. IN BIOS CPU is recognised correctly and memory is also recognised ok. So is it likely to be a bad motherboard or corrupted BIOS or something else? Thanks :)

• Autonegotiate errors between HP and Cisco hardware?

  This is a bit of a specific extension to this question. I've got two ASA's that feed into a Procurve switch, and then into an IPS. All is well except that the procurve absolutely refuses to autonegotiate with the ASA's...The asa's run 100full, and the procurve autonegotiates to 100half. It does it for both ASA's, so it's probably not a failure on one of them, and everything works fine if I force the procurve to 100full. Has anyone else seen this issue? I've been buying more HP hardware, but I'm not keen on getting equipment that's not going to play nice with my Cisco backbone.

• IIS 7.0 404 Custom Error Page and web.config

  I am having trouble with a custom 404 error page. I have a domain running a .NET proj with it's own error handling. I have a web.config running for the domain which contains: <customErrors mode="RemoteOnly"> <error statusCode="500" redirect="/Error"/> <error statusCode="404" redirect="/404"/> </customErrors> On a sub dir of that domain I am ignoring all routes there by doing routes.IgnoreRoute("Assets/{*pathInfo}"); in the .NET proj and I want to put a custom 404 error page on that and any sub dir's of Assets. The sub dir contains static content like images, css, js etc etc. So in the Error Pages section of IIS I put a redirect to an absolute URL. The web.config for that dir looks like the following: <system.webServer> <httpErrors> <remove statusCode="404" subStatusCode="-1" /> <error statusCode="404" prefixLanguageFilePath="" path="http://mydomain.com/404" responseMode="Redirect" /> </httpErrors> </system.webServer> But I navigate to an unknown URL under that dir and yet I still see the default IIS 404 page. I am also seeing an alert in IIS that reads: You have configured detailed error messages to be returned for both local and remote requests. When this option is selected, custom error configuration is not used. Does this have anything to do with the customErrors mode="RemoteOnly" in the site web.config? I have tried to overwrite the customErrors in the sub dir web.config but nothing changes. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

  I am growing weary of some error messages in my syslog - its showing: Jul 3 15:16:38 web rpc.idmapd[14535]: nss_getpwnam: name 'nobody' does not map into domain 'mydomain.com' I have check, my hostname is correct as mydomain.com and I even added a valid entry in /etc/hostname . I have edited my /etc/idmapd.conf to reflect this domain name, this error message log every 10minutes and its becoming frustrating, I do not know why or whats causing it, the nfs server is working ok, with correct entries and now message in the log. I am using centos6 -- Ofcoure, i have substituted mydomain.com with my real domain

• Serial port access errors in WINE

  Hello, I have a setup in which I use a USB serial adapter + some application which sends and receives data using that serial usb. But this setup which works on a Windows, or even in a VMWare Virtual windows, does not work under WINE. IT transmits data but i cannot receive data. The cable and the applications are same as in the working and non-working scenarios. I guess The fact that the application works over the USB serial cable just as fine under Virtual Windows(VMware running on linux) by mapping /dev/ttyUSB to the com port, no external software/DLL needed, means it does not need any specific driver. (Am I correct in this assumption that application doesnt need any driver?) (I also tried with a different setup(different USB serial adapter + different application under WINE, but even that does not work under WINE, but it works fine under WIndows/Virtual Windows) How can I get it working under WINE? Any pointers appreciated.

• Script errors when run by launchd at startup, but not when run in Terminal

  Hello. I'm attempting to create a RAM disk that loads the previous contents when the system starts up, and every six hours writes the contents to a disk image. Currently, when you run the script from the terminal ("sudo bash LogToRAM.sh") everything works fine. But when run from launchd during startup, it doesn't work. Here's the lines from the log; the first line just gives some idea as to where in the boot process we are: SecurityAgent[202] Showing Login Window com.mechcozmo.LogToRAM[51] + /Developer/usr/bin/SetFile -a V /Volumes/LogfileRAMdisk com.mechcozmo.LogToRAM[51] ERROR: File Not Found. (-43) on file: /Volumes/LogfileRAMdisk com.mechcozmo.LogToRAM[51] + /usr/sbin/asr -source '/Library/Application Support/LogToRAM/RAMdisk_store.dmg' -target /Volumes/LogfileRAMdisk/ -noverify Here is the script and plist file in question. Note that 'set -vx' is up at the top of the script; it give a lot of information about what is happening in the script. My current theory is that the /Volumes directory does not exist at this stage of the boot process, but that seems unlikely to be honest.

• Reinstalled Windows XP Home, shows as XP Pro, 'invalid' errors

  We reinstalled Windows XP Home after hard drive crash. The system now shows as XP Pro and we're constantly getting 'invalid software' popups, images show in solid black. We called Microsoft, they said the serial number is valid etc. We're assuming that the pop ups are because that it is now XP Pro instead of Home. Or could it be something else? Or how can we determine what the issue is in order to correct it? Thanks for any advice on this. jb

• Getting BootMgr not found errors repeatedly on Win7 x64

  So here is the basic configuration of the box: Primary RAID 1 (Mirror, Bootable): 2x 300GB WD SATA drives AMD Phenom Quad Core x64 @2.2 ASUS M3N78 Pro Board 4GB RAM Win 7 Ultimate Additionally, this box is a Host OS for several CentOS Boxes via VirtualBox. The box runs like a champ but, for whatever reason, everytime I restart the machine I get a BootMgr not found error when the box tries to boot. I pop in my Win DVD, select 'Repair Windows' then 'Fix Start Up Problems' and everything works fine...once. When I restart the box again I have to go back through this process. Any ideas on what is going on?

  I'm on Centos 6.5 with Postfix/Dovecot and some virtual domains. Postfix works fine, but I've got a lot of messages like this "NOQUEUE: reject: RCPT from 1-160-127-12.dynamic.hinet.net[1.160.127.12]: 454 4.7.1 : Relay access denied; from= to= proto=SMTP" in my maillog. I've tried to close port 25 with iptables, when I do so - I got no such messages, but my mail system starts work incorrectly and can't receive mail from other hosts. Please help! • Linux Uninstalling errors

  I want to uninstall back-track 5 so I deleted the partitions for back-track os. After deleting the partition that used to be for back-track becomes free space as in picture. But I can't delete that partition nor creating a new partition. I used G-Parted from hiren boot cd but it says there is no partition table, you need to create a partition table. But actually I have 5 partitions already. And I thought of restarting might fix it. But after showing post screen my laptop show grub error. I don't know what to do, and I tried to install back-track again to fix the problem but it also says that i do not have any partitions. I can only boot windows by passing through hiren boot cd. But most of the time My computer is not recognizing the external dvd drive, nor the internal so i have to restart again and again, hoping to catch the time computer recognize the dvd drive. Can I change the boot loader to correct the grub error? SOLVED : I have solved the grub error by writing MBR again by using EasyBCD But I still have the format error.

• RoboCopy errors on Windows Server 2008

  I am getting bizarre error with RoboCopy in Server 2008. It will randomly hang with "The specified network name is no longer available." error. Once that happens, it will continue to fail on the retries. But of course the remote server IS still available on the network and can be reached with other tools. I think it must be somehow permission related but I can't figure out what is wrong. Any ideas would be much appreciated.
