• Where does Chrome store its bookmarks in Ubuntu 11.10?

  I looked at all the other posts on this but can't find the directories mentioned (~/.config/google-chrome/Default/Bookmarks, it's a JSON file.). Being a 2 day Newbie to Ubuntu/Linux I would like to know if the location has changed in the latest version or if not how I locate the directory indicated. I have logged in as root and searched for the folder and can't find it although I imported my bookmarks from a html file so I know that they must be saved somewhere.

• How can I turn off display resolution auto-detection in Windows Vista?

  At work I've 4 different computers connected using a keyboard/video/mouse switch. Quite often when I switch to windows vista the resolution is totally wrong and I need to get the screen properties dialog, change to another wrong resolution (because the fun part is that the apparently current resolution listed in the dialog is the correct one) then re-switch to the correct resolution. I would really like to just shut that broken resolution autodetection code off. Is there a way to disable screen resolution autodetection in Windows Vista?

  I am a solo IT employee for a small company that has a couple of servers and 10 workstations (Windows and Mac, Macs do not run AV software). I want to centrally manage Anti-Virus for all the computers with some sort of control panel. I have been using Symantec Corporate versions for years, but the latest version (Symantec Endpoint Protection 11.x) is totally over-complicated, and aimed at enterprises with 1000s of computers. Can anyone recommend something reliable, centrally managed, and simple?

  Is there a Hyper-V virtual machine client for XP? Linux? Mac? I'm aware that we could VNC or RDP into the virtual machine but the problem is if the VM is not running or is suspend the end user can't start it and IT needs to get involved. I guess what I'm looking for is something like VMconnect.exe that runs on xp or linux. Or, If I am totally barking up the wrong tree let me know. ;-)

  I know this is a real newbie question but what does it mean when someone says they "flushed the firewall". I got locked out of my server a few times due to the enhanced security configuration I had done and when I contacted my server management company, they said both times that they flushed the firewall and I was allowed back in. I hope "flushing the firewall" doesn't mean they reduced the security settings at all.

• Boot-camp wont boot into os x

  I've tried everything but I can't get MacBook 1,1 (which was running leopard) to boot os x after installing windows 7. I had the drivers for windows in a .pkg file and didnt realise it won't install them in windows. I am totally stuck with a half usefull windows system, any help would be greatly appricatet. • Best password practices?

  for sensitive data, would it be better to have a somewhat long, but memorable password (and hence not totally random) or use a program like keepass to make a super long, random password with the highest possible entropy, and then just write down the password on a piece of paper kept in ones pocket. If that bang on the door comes, then swallow the paper. Which is a better security practice? I'm not in any way a criminal, i just am curious about topics concerning security. Thanks.

I have successfully implemented both but I want to improve the evaluation function by automatically tuning the weights assigned to its features.   I m developing instrument driver and i want to know how to calculate checksum of frame. Explanation: Expressed by characters [0-9] and [A-F]. Characters beginning from the character after [STX] and until [ETB] or [ETX] (including [ETB] or [ETX]) are added in binary. The 2-digit numbers, which represent the least significant 8 bits in hexadecimal code, are converted to ASCII characters [0-9] and [A-F]. The most significant digit is stored in CHK1 and the least significant digit in CHK2. This is sample frame : <STX>2Q|1|2^1||||20011001153000<CR><ETX><CHK1><CHK2><CR><LF> and i want to know what is value of chk1 and chk2 and i am new in this so i m totally blank about how to calculate checksum i am not getting above 3rd and 4th point. can any one provide sample code for c#. • Brightness control not working in Lenovo G580

  I purchased a new Lenovo g580 laptop. But I am totally disappointed when I installed Ubuntu on it. Almost all drivers are not working. :-( The laptop configuration is intel i3 processor Nvidia GeForce 610M graphics card. I couldn't find the nvidia drivers in the additional drivers (jockey). The main problem is that the brightness control not working. I tried lots of methods explained in this site, but the result again disappointed me. I am a student and I am using Linux, and the brightness control is the most urgent problem that have to be solved. So experts please give me a solution. thanks in advance

  I'm now working with two guys for making our first pc indie game and we decide to use cocos2d+pybox2d ( yeah , 2d python game :) ). We decide this based on what i seen in cocos2d iphone games , but i don't get very clear if cocos2d-iphone is just a porting with just a little more features or is far more better than cocos2d for pc. If you can get me out of this dilemma it would be great. • Ubuntu Touch porting: bad file tree

  I'm trying to port ubuntu touch to Samsung Galaxy S Plus but I'm finding it really difficult. The problems at first were to find a good CM rom as base, because this device is not officially supported by CM. Currently I'm using EhndroixIII but now I'm founding a lot of problems with the porting guide. In particular my file tree seems totally different from the one of the guide.   In my latest ASP.NET project, I refresh the sample data using an Excel spreadsheet from the client. After upgrading to Windows Server 2008 R2, I suddenly discovered this error: The 'Microsoft.Jet.OLEDB.4.0' provider is not registered on the local machine. The error message is totally bogus! The problem is that I’m running IIS on a 64-bit machine and the ol’ OLEDB thingy just isn’t up with the times.   I am looking for a standardize way to visualize the following hierarchical logic: The state of the thread is represented by the answers to the hierarchical set of question You can read this listing like a flowchart, you iterate over the questions decide, go one step deeper and so on. Therefore I thought the best way to visualize it, using a flowchart. The problem is, in this hierarchical set it is possible to end in more than one state and its totally valid. I have never seen a flowchart where you can enter more than one state. Is it still possible and I am missing the right symbol to present this logic or are flowchart not fitting anyway? What other graphical representation could I use, is there something fitting in UML? A non-deterministic state machine seems not to be intuitive enough, transfering it into a deterministic state machine would result in to many states, and so on.

• Wine Security - Improvement by second user account?

  Team, I'm considering installing wine - but still hesitant for security reasons. As far as I found out, malicious code could reach ~/.wine and all my personal data with my user-priviledges - but not farther than that. So - would it be any safer to create a second user account on my machine and install wine there? That way, the second user would only have reading rights to my files. Is there a way to install wine totally confined to that user - so that I can't execute .exe files from my original account? Thanks in advance! PS - I'm running Ubuntu 11.10 64bit if that matters.

• Eloqua API Full Code Example in JAVA

  Is there anyone out there who has mastered to retrieve some data programmatically from Eloqua? First of all, I'm more or less a newbie, as far as JAVA. I can follow tutorials, take directions and will Google till my fingers bleed. I understand the basics and am slightly familiar with OOP. My main problem is that I have a Friday deadline (and tomorrow is Thanksgiving). At any rate, all the Eloqua code snippets (that I've been able to find) illustrate one aspect of a specific issue, and that's it. In my case, I would greatly appreciate a JAVA project of some sort, with all the necessary files to do web services (WSDL, SOAP and perhaps WSIT) and the main class and all that included. No, I don't want you to do my work for me! Just give me enough to find my way around, enter the information I need to retrieve and all that. I'll take it from there. Any pointers, links or suggestions?
