  • ASP.NET Routing (in WebForms)not working when deployed under IIS,Works in IDE

    I have an ASP.NET web application(webforms,not MVC) developed in VS 2008 and i have implemented ASP.NET web forms URL routing by following this link http://www.4guysfromrolla.com/articles/051309-1.aspx#postadlink It works pretty good when i run it on the Visual studion IDE.But does not works when i created a site under my IIS (IIS 5.1 in XP) and deployed the same files there.I have set ASP.NET version as 2.0 in the Properties window of my application too.But does not work. Any idea Why ? Is there anything else to be setup ? Thanks in advance

    I have an ASP.NET MVC-application which I want deployable on both IIS6 and IIS7 and as we all know, IIS6 needs the ".mvc"-naming in the URL. Will this code work to make sure it works on all IIS-versions? Without having to make special adjustments in code, global.asax or config-files for the different IIS-versions. bool usingIntegratedPipeline = HttpRuntime.UsingIntegratedPipeline; routes.MapRoute( "Default", usingIntegratedPipeline ?   • How to deal with routing when developing a custom CMS in Codeigniter

    Hi All - I’m a recent user of Codeigniter and am developing a simple backend CMS to manage pages. Based on a URL (in this example I have hidden “index.php”) : mysite.com/pagename I would like the system to detect if there is a value of “pagename” in my database, if there is, I need the system to re-route to a custom controller (eg: Pagemaker) and if there is no record called pagename, just do it’s normal thing (i.e. find a controller called pagename) Currently I have: $route['(:any)'] = "pagemaker/create/$1"; whereby all requests are forwarded to my custom function. However I want to change this structure so that if the page does NOT exist in the db, the traditional codeigniter request process is followed. Can anyone offer any advice about how to complete this? Or any advice about routing custom CMS’s in codeigniter in general?

  • Can you suggest good ways of generating URLS for viewing tagged content

    For example, here on stack overflow the URL http://stackoverflow.com/questions/tagged/javascript+php will give you all questions tagged with javascript and php. The system I have allows tags with spaces in them, so the approach used here would not be a good fit for me. What character would you use to separate the tags, so the URLs are still human readable, google readable and web browser compatible. My gut feeling was to use commas. eg http://example.com/tagged/first+tag,second+tag Any feedback or suggestions would be welcome.

  • Is LISP still useful in, and which version is most used in todays world ?

    I try to teach myself a new programming language in regular intervals of time. Recently, I've read how Lisp and its dialects are at the complete opposite end of the spectrum from languages like C/C++, which made me curious enough to know more about it. However, two things are unclear to me, and I'm looking for guidance on them : Is LISP still practiced/used in todays world, or is it a legacy language like FORTRAN/COBOL ? I mean, apart from maintaining existing code, is it used on new projects at all ? What is the most widely used dialect ? I came across Scheme and Common Lisp as the 2 most prevalent dialects, and wanted your opinion as to which is the most favored/useful one to learn - and would be immensely gratified if you can suggest any resources for a rank beginner to start from. While eager to learn a language which is fundamentally different from the procedural languages I'm used to, I don't want to invest undue effort in something if its totally obsolete - I'd still learn it if it was professionally "dead", but only with an academic perspective...

    Okay, so I'm a java developer (or at least I think I am),and also a student at the same time I want to get a job when I graduate,I'll be graduating in a year or so (hopefully) (Note: my major has nothing to do with programming) Now, I'm between a rock and a hard place I also want to nail the foundations to become a good software developer. I want to be able to write programs that solve problems,not just glue code The software market in my country for java developers is just a few developers working with Java EE (struts,spring,hibernate....etc) I'm currently learning C++ with this book. I've also watched most of the 1st lecture of this course and I understood pretty much everything I watched To sum it up, I have three options Learn Java EE Learn C++ Learn Scheme Which is better for me at this point?

  • What is a dotted pair's analogy in other Lisp implementations?

    What is Scheme's dotted pair construct analogous to in other Lisp implementations? I can make a vector or list quite easily, and understand those in Clojure, even though the syntax is a little different, like Clojure's vectors use square brackets []. However, seeing a dotted pair for the first time threw me. It almost looks like it is an implementation of of map. I'm not looking for a discussion, but more for use or the dotted pair equivalent in other Lisp dialects, like Clojure, or even Python. Thanks.

  • Learning C, Lisp, and UNIX from Ground Up

    A friend and I are trying to learn traditional programming from the ground up. We both do web stuff primarily but want to expand to more system related things. We have found a ton of resources but looking for a road map of sorts. We are planning on using SICP to learn Lisp(scheme). Don't really know where to from there. As for C, we figured we'd start with K&R, then do OOC, and sprinkle in Operating Systems Design and Implementation and kind of learn UNIX as we go. I'd really appreciate suggestions on filling in the gaps, reordering things, or just advice in general.

    My app has to load an image from a http server and displaying it into an UIImageView How can i do that?? The server is working because i can load xml files from it. but i can't display that image! I need to load the image programmatically because it has to change depending on the parameter passed!     Hi all ive looked through the current related questions but have not managed to find anything similar to my needs. Im in the process of creating a affiliate store using zencart - now one of the issues is that zencart is not designed for redirects and affiliate stores but it can be done. I will be changing the store so it acts like a showcase store showing prices. There is a mod called easy populate which allows me to upload datafeeds. This is all well and good however my affiliate link will not be in each product. I can do it manually after uploading the data feed and going to each product and then adding it as an image with a redirect link - However when there are over 500 items its going to be a long repetitive and time consuming job. I have been told that I can add the links to the data feed before uploading it to zencart and this should be done using python. Ive been reading about python for several days now and feel im looking for the wrong things. I was wondering if someone could please advise the simplest way for me to get this done.   • Base URL in ASP.net Master Pages with virtual Directories

    Hi All, I have an ASP.net master page. In this master, I have all my css and javascript files defined. I also have a few images and a few buttons and hyperlinks. All the urls are all declared as relative ie "/scripts/ian.js" Everything works fine if this site is the root website, but I need it to work in a virtual directory. My problem is when I place this website in a virtual directory under a root site, all my links are pointing to the root site. so my links point to www.root.com/scripts/ian.js but it should be pointing to www.root.com/virtualDir/scripts/ian.js I thought the Base Href tag in the header would help, but so far it does not seem to be helping in anyway. All the links are still pointing to the root website when i hover over them. Any suggestions or ideas are welcome. Thanks

  • What does "?ref=ts" mean in a FACEBOOK APP url

    When Facebook drives traffic to an app, they often append &ref=whatever to the query string. This is useful for figuring out which integration points are working or not. I've figured out what some of these mean. For example: ref=bookmarks - the user clicked on a bookmark. ref=game_my_recent - the user clicked on the upper portion of the games dashboard. Does anyone know what "ref=ts" means? It accounts for a ton of traffic. I've viewed source on pages all over common FB pages and cannot find a match for ant piece of content generated by any of my apps. Server.HtmlDecode("Österreich") HttpUtility.UrlDecode("Österreich") Neither seems to be helping. What else can I try to get my desired result?

I need to a create a profile page for every user registered to my PHP application but it's not so clear how can I do that.   • Open an Excel htm URL via iFrame in a separate browser

    I have some URLs in an Excel file which I have saved as a .htm (webpage) file. I then view these in a browser via our wiki (MediaWiki). This is done using an iFrame embedded in the wiki page. So, just for clarity, the link is in a htm file viewed via an iFrame in a wiki page. When I click on that link, it opens inside the iFrame. What I want is for it to open in a new browser window. (This should be the user's default browser since some use Internet Explorer and some Firefox.) The final twist is that some users have Windows XP and some Solaris. Help greatly appreciated.

    I would like to be able to map URLs to Controllers dynamically based on information in my database. I'm looking to do something functionally equivalent to this (assuming a View model): map.route '/:view_name', :controller => lambda { View.find_by_name(params[:view_name]).controller } Others have suggested dynamically rebuilding the routes, but this won't work for me as there may be thousands of Views that map to the same Controller
