  • Oracle BPM overview and roadmap session on Monday, October 1st

    Bhagat Nainani and I, Manoj Das, will present a session on Oracle BPM overview and road map on Monday, October 1 2012, from 12:15-1:15 PM at Moscone South - 308. Since last OpenWorld, many good things have happened. Many customers have gone live with their BPM 11g deployments, some of whom were nominated for the Innovation Awards. From a product perspective, we delivered 11.1.1.6 and 11.1.1.7 is just around the corner. We will discuss some of the highlights related to both customer successes and product features. In particular, we will present some of the exciting new capabilities that we are introducing in 11.1.1.7 around business analyst driven model-to-execution, more comprehensive unified BPM suite, more flexible and manageable BPM. Another significant development is the release of Process Accelerators. We have not only released accelerators, we have ourselves deployed and are using them internally. We will talk about accelerators as well as our learnings. As the title suggests, we will also share some aspects of our roadmap - there are some very exciting things brewing that I can't wait to share with you on Monday. Hoping to see you on Monday.   • Give a session on C++ AMP – here is how

    Ever since presenting on C++ AMP at the AMD Fusion conference in June, then the Gamefest conference in August, and the BUILD conference in September, I've had numerous requests about my material from folks that want to re-deliver the same session. The C++ AMP session I put together has evolved over the 3 presentations to its final form that I used at BUILD, so that is the one I recommend you base yours on. Please get the slides and the recording from channel9 (I'll refer to slide numbers below). This is how I've been presenting the C++ AMP session: Context (slide 3, 04:18-08:18) Start with a demo, on my dual-GPU machine. I've been using the N-Body sample (for VS 11 Developer Preview). (slide 4) Use an nvidia slide that has additional examples of performance improvements that customers enjoy with heterogeneous computing. (slide 5) Talk a bit about the differences today between CPU and GPU hardware, leading to the fact that these will continue to co-exist and that GPUs are great for data parallel algorithms, but not much else today. One is a jack of all trades and the other is a number cruncher. (slide 6) Use the APU example from amd, as one indication that the hardware space is still in motion, emphasizing that the C++ AMP solution is a data parallel API, not a GPU API. It has a future proof design for hardware we have yet to see. (slide 7) Provide more meta-data, as blogged about when I first introduced C++ AMP. Code (slide 9-11) Introduce C++ AMP coding with a simplistic array-addition algorithm – the slides speak for themselves. (slide 12-13) index<N>, extent<N>, and grid<N>. (Slide 14-16) array<T,N>, array_view<T,N> and comparison between them. (Slide 17) parallel_for_each. (slide 18, 21) restrict. (slide 19-20) actual restrictions of restrict(direct3d) – the slides speak for themselves. (slide 22) bring it altogether with a matrix multiplication example. (slide 23-24) accelerator, and accelerator_view. (slide 26-29) Introduce tiling incl. tiled matrix multiplication [tiling probably deserves a whole session instead of 6 minutes!]. IDE (slide 34,37) Briefly touch on the concurrency visualizer. It supports GPU profiling, but enhancements specific to C++ AMP we hope will come at the Beta timeframe, which is when I'll be spending more time talking about it. (slide 35-36, 51:54-59:16) Demonstrate the GPU debugging experience in VS 11. Summary (slide 39) Re-iterate some of the points of slide 7, and add the point that the C++ AMP spec will be open for other compiler vendors to implement, even on other platforms (in fact, Microsoft is actively working on that).   • How to log out with a command in a gnome-less environment?

    I installed various window managers (Awesome, dwm, etc.) from which I am not able to log out back to the login screen (gnome-session) in order to switch to another window manager. I need to reboot to do that, which is a waste of time. Question How can you log out via the terminal? didn't work.. dbus-send --session --type=method_call --print-reply --dest=org.gnome.SessionManager /org/gnome/SessionManager org.gnome.SessionManager.Logout uint32:1 ..neither did this: gnome-session-save --force-logout ..nor that: gnome-session-quit --force-logout they all returned: Failed to call logout: The name org.gnome.SessionManager was not provided by any .service files Is there a quick way to log out back into Gnome's session manager from a non-Gnome desktop manager using a terminal emulator? I know that CTRL+ALT+BACKSPACE can be configured to restart X, but I'm looking for the easiest way to log out.

  • How to check whether user is login in web application?

    I want to learn the whole details of web application authentication. So, I decided to write a CodeIgniter authentication library from scratch. Now, I have to make design decision about how to determine whether one user is login. Basically, after user input username & password pair. A cookie is set for this session, following navigations in the web application will not require username & password. The server side will check whether the session cookie is valid to determine whether current user is login. The question is: how to determine whether cookie is valid cookie issued from server side? I can image the most simple way is to have the cookie value stored in session status as well. For each HTTP request, compare the value from cookie and the value from server session. (Since CodeIgniter session library store session variables in cookies, it is not applicable without some tweak.) This method requires storage in server side. For huge web application that is deployed in multiple datacenters. It is possible that user input username & password when browsing in one datacenter, while he/she access the web application in another datacenter later. The expected behavior is that user just input username & password once. As a result, all datacenters should be able to access the session status. That is possible not applicable even the session status is stored in external storage such as database. I tried Google. I login Google with Asian proxy which is supposed to direct me to datacenters in Asian. Then I switch to North American proxy which should direct me to datacenters in North America. It recognize my login without asking username and password again. So, is there any way to determine whether user is login without server side session status?

    I'm experimenting with PHP's session_set_save_handler and I'd like to use a PDO connection to store session data. The sessions db table remains empty. The log message from the _close callback is always present. Here's how I connect to the database: $db = new PDO('mysql:host=' . DBHOST . ';dbname=' . DBNAME, DBUSER, DBPASS); $db->setAttribute(PDO::ATTR_ERRMODE, PDO::ERRMODE_EXCEPTION); I have PHP 5.2.10. I tried to simply run $GLOBALS['db']->exec($sql) with a "manually prepared" $sql content, but it still failed silently. The query itself is all right I was able to execute it via the db console.

  • '<=' operator is not working in sql server 2000

    Hello, Scenario is, database is in the maintenance phase. this database is not developed by ours developer. it is an existing database developed by the 'xyz' company in sql server 2000. This is real time database, where i am working now. I wanted to write the stored procedure which will retrieve me the records From date1 to date 2.so query is : Select * from MyTableName Where colDate>= '3-May-2010' and colDate<= '5-Oct-2010' and colName='xyzName' whereas my understanding I must get data including upper bound date as well as lower bound date. but somehow I am getting records from '3-May-2010' (which is fine but) to '10-Oct-2010' As i observe in table design , for ColDate, developer had used 'varchar' to store the date. i know this is wrong remedy by them. so in my stored procedure I have also used varchar parameters as @FromDate1 and @ToDate to get inputs for SP. this is giving me result which i have explained. i tried to take the parameter type as 'Datetime' but it is showing error while saving/altering the stored procedure that "@FromDate1 has invalid datatype", same for "@ToDate". situation is that, I can not change the table design at all. what i have to do here ? i know we can use user defined table in sql server 2008 , but there is version sql server 2000. which does not support the same.   • Win7 Domain User Profile- Desktop Icon management best practices request

    Here's the situation: We have a large (5,000+ user) organization that is currently using folder redirection to manage the windows desktop icons. This folder is redirected to a network share where we can centrally manage the different sites and such. When a user tries to use a computer when the network is not available, they are unable to use any shortcuts in the Public folder. We only redirect the C:\Users\%username%\Desktop folder. Does anyone have any suggestions of how to go about managing desktop icons? We still want a central location to manage these items, but find a way to keep the system working when the network is unavailable. As a point of clarification, the network rarely goes down. We do have instances where a few computers do not have a network connection. Usually, something is simply unplugged. Since we have multiple sites, the line from a branch to the central office has gone down a few times. This is more of an attempt to maintain a positive end user experience when disconnected from the network.

    Originally, I just want to verify that session_start locks on session. So, I create a PHP file as below. Basically, if the pageview is even, the page sleeps for 10 seconds; if the pageview is odd, it doesn't. And, session_start is used to obtain the page view in $_SESSION. I tried to access the page in two tabs of one browser. It is not surprising that the first tab takes 10 seconds since I explicitly let it sleep. The second tab would not sleep, but it should be blocked by sessiont_start. That works as expected. To my surprise, the output of the second page shows that session_start takes almost no time. Actually, the whole page seems takes no time to load. But, the page does take 10 seconds to show in browser. obtained lock Cost time: 0.00016689300537109 Start 1269739162.1997 End 1269739162.1998 allover time elpased : 0.00032305717468262 The page views: 101 Does PHP extract session_start out of PHP page and execute it before other PHP statements? I keep current user id and user type in session and authenticate user from these session variables (say Session["UserId"],Session["UserName"] and Session["UserType"]) I do authentications. Please guide me how it is insecure ? I heard such security can be broken and applications can be hacked very easily, like it is possible to get session id and directly connect to that session id etc. Please guide me on this thanks

    Is there a way to display User fields under a form that adds/edits a UserProfile model? I am extending default Django User model like this: class UserProfile(models.Model): user = models.OneToOneField(User, unique=True) about = models.TextField(blank=True) I know that it is possible to make a: class UserProfileInlineAdmin(admin.TabularInline): and then inline this in User ModelAdmin but I want to achieve the opposite effect, something like inverse inlining, displaying the fields of the model pointed by the OneToOne Relationship (User) in the page of the model defining the relationship (UserProfile). I don't care if it would be in the admin or in a custom view/template. I just need to know how to achieve this. I've been struggling with ModelForms and Formsets, I know the answer is somewhere there, but my little experience in Django doesn't allow me to come up with the solution yet. A little example would be really helpful!

  • ASP.NET and WIF: Showing custom profile username as User.Identity.Name

    I am building ASP.NET MVC application that uses external services to authenticate users. For ASP.NET users are fully authenticated when they are redirected back from external service. In system they are logically authenticated when they have created user profiles. In this posting I will show you how to force ASP.NET MVC controller actions to demand existence of custom user profiles. Using external authentication sources with AppFabric Suppose you want to be user-friendly and you don’t force users to keep in mind another username/password when they visit your site. You can accept logins from different popular sites like Windows Live, Facebook, Yahoo, Google and many more. If user has account in some of these services then he or she can use his or her account to log in to your site. If you have community site then you usually have support for user profiles too. Some of these providers give you some information about users and other don’t. So only thing in common you get from all those providers is some unique ID that identifies user in service uniquely. Image above shows you how new user joins your site. Existing users who already have profile are directed to users homepage after they are authenticated. You can read more about how to solve semi-authorized users problem from my blog posting ASP.NET MVC: Using ProfileRequiredAttribute to restrict access to pages. The other problem is related to usernames that we don’t get from all identity providers. Why is IIdentity.Name sometimes empty? The problem is described more specifically in my blog posting Identifying AppFabric Access Control Service users uniquely. Shortly the problem is that not all providers have claim called http://schemas.xmlsoap.org/ws/2005/05/identity/claims/name. The following diagram illustrates what happens when user got token from AppFabric ACS and was redirected to your site. Now, when user was authenticated using Windows Live ID then we don’t have name claim in token and that’s why User.Identity.Name is empty. Okay, we can force nameidentifier to be used as name (we can do it in web.config file) but we have user profiles and we want username from profile to be shown when username is asked. Modifying name claim Now let’s force IClaimsIdentity to use username from our user profiles. You can read more about my profiles topic from my blog posting ASP.NET MVC: Using ProfileRequiredAttribute to restrict access to pages and you can find some useful extension methods for claims identity from my blog posting Identifying AppFabric Access Control Service users uniquely. Here is what we do to set User.Identity.Name: we will check if user has profile, if user has profile we will check if User.Identity.Name matches the name given by profile, if names does not match then probably identity provider returned some name for user, we will remove name claim and recreate it with correct username, we will add new name claim to claims collection. All this stuff happens in Application_AuthorizeRequest event of our web application. Conclusion Mixing AppFabric Access Control Service and Windows Identity Foundation with custom authorization logic is not impossible but a little bit tricky.   • What browser is sending user agent beginning mozilla/5.0+, tramslates & into &amp;

    We've got a website which has been running for a few years now. One of our customers has just started having an intermittent problem. Looking at our iis6.0 logs the service works correctly when they have a user agent beginning "mozilla/4.0+" but fails when the user agent begins "mozilla/5.0+". The particular customer only started having this problem on Wednesday. Does anyone know the browser/upgrade which changes the 4.0 to 5.0? The actual problem caused is that an "&" in a url parameter list is being encoded as "&amp;". Anyone seen anything similar? We have other users sending from browsers with the 5.0+ user agent without trouble. Sorry about the tags but don't have the rep to create new ones.   • Apache2 config variable is not defined

    I installed apache2 on ubuntu 13.10. If I try to restart it using sudo /etc/init.d/apache2 restart I get this message: AH00558: apache2: Could not reliably determine the server's fully qualified domain name, using 127.0.1.1. Set the 'ServerName' directive globally to suppress this message So I read that I should edit my httpd.conf file.   • User unable to delete folder / files "File in use by another user" Server 2003

    I am administering a standalone Windows 2003 Terminal Server with no domain membership. Occasionally (about once a week or so) a user will attempt to delete a sub-folder in a Shared folder and gets denied with "File in use by another user". I tried checking the shared folder snap-in and that folder is not open. She has full control and is the owner of the folder as well. I even checked in "Effective permissions" for some of the folders / files she cant delete and she truly has full control. I am able to delete the folder as Administrator with no problem. Another odd thing, she can delete the files IN the folder most of the time (this issue happens on both folders and files in the share). Sometimes merely waiting a day or two will allow her to delete the folder or files. I am curious as to why she gets the message that it is in use as creator/owner with full control yet I don't get it simply as a member of the Admin group. If anyone out there has any ideas I'd love to hear them! THANK YOU.

    Note: Now that I've typed this out, I have to apologize for the super long question, however, I think all the code and information presented here is in some way relevant. Okay, I'm getting odd "Session Is Closed" errors, at random points in my ASP.NET webforms application. Today, however, it's finally happening in the same place over and over again. I am near certain that nothing is disposing or closing the session in my code, as the bits of code that use are well contained away from all other code as you'll see below. I'm also using ninject as my IOC, which may / may not be important. Okay, so, First my SessionFactoryProvider and SessionProvider classes: SessionFactoryProvider public class SessionFactoryProvider : IDisposable { ISessionFactory sessionFactory; public ISessionFactory GetSessionFactory() { if (sessionFactory == null) sessionFactory = Fluently.Configure() .Database( MsSqlConfiguration.MsSql2005.ConnectionString(p => p.FromConnectionStringWithKey("QoiSqlConnection"))) .Mappings(m => m.FluentMappings.AddFromAssemblyOf<JobMapping>()) .BuildSessionFactory(); return sessionFactory; } public void Dispose() { if (sessionFactory != null) sessionFactory.Dispose(); } } SessionProvider public class SessionProvider : IDisposable { ISessionFactory sessionFactory; ISession session; public SessionProvider(SessionFactoryProvider sessionFactoryProvider) { this.sessionFactory = sessionFactoryProvider.GetSessionFactory(); } public ISession GetCurrentSession() { if (session == null) session = sessionFactory.OpenSession(); return session; } public void Dispose() { if (session != null) { session.Dispose(); } } } These two classes are wired up with Ninject as so: NHibernateModule public class NHibernateModule : StandardModule { public override void Load() { Bind<SessionFactoryProvider>().ToSelf().Using<SingletonBehavior>(); Bind<SessionProvider>().ToSelf().Using<OnePerRequestBehavior>(); } } and as far as I can tell work as expected. Now my BaseDao<T> class: BaseDao public class BaseDao<T> : IDao<T> where T : EntityBase { private SessionProvider sessionManager; protected ISession session { get { return sessionManager.GetCurrentSession(); } } public BaseDao(SessionProvider sessionManager) { this.sessionManager = sessionManager; } public T GetBy(int id) { return session.Get<T>(id); } public void Save(T item) { using (var transaction = session.BeginTransaction()) { session.SaveOrUpdate(item); transaction.Commit(); } } public void Delete(T item) { using (var transaction = session.BeginTransaction()) { session.Delete(item); transaction.Commit(); } } public IList<T> GetAll() { return session.CreateCriteria<T>().List<T>(); } public IQueryable<T> Query() { return session.Linq<T>(); } } Which is bound in Ninject like so: DaoModule public class DaoModule : StandardModule { public override void Load() { Bind(typeof(IDao<>)).To(typeof(BaseDao<>)) .Using<OnePerRequestBehavior>(); } } Now the web request that is causing this is when I'm saving an object, it didn't occur till I made some model changes today, however the changes to my model has not changed the data access code in anyway. Though it changed a few NHibernate mappings (I can post these too if anyone is interested) From as far as I can tell, BaseDao<SomeClass>.Get is called then BaseDao<SomeOtherClass>.Get is called then BaseDao<TypeImTryingToSave>.Save is called. it's the third call at the line in Save() using (var transaction = session.BeginTransaction()) that fails with "Session is Closed!" or rather the exception: Session is closed! Object name: 'ISession'. Description: An unhandled exception occurred during the execution of the current web request. Please review the stack trace for more information about the error and where it originated in the code. Exception Details: System.ObjectDisposedException: Session is closed! Object name: 'ISession'. And indeed following through on the Debugger shows the third time the session is requested from the SessionProvider it is indeed closed and not connected. I have verified that Dispose on my SessionFactoryProvider and on my SessionProvider are called at the end of the request and not before the Save call is made on my Dao. So now I'm a little stuck. A few things pop to mind. Am I doing anything obviously wrong? Does NHibernate ever close sessions without me asking to? Any workarounds or ideas on what I might do? Thanks in advance

    I'm having diffculties configuring 20 new Dell Vostro minis here. I set up one of them with my preferred OS, applications and settings, especially the Visual Effects Settings of Windows XP. I set them to best performance and deactivated everything else in the box. I copied this profile to Default User Profile and did sysprep -mini -reseal. After capturing this image and deploying it again, the desktop settings are correct except the visual effects settings. fading and everything else is reenabled for each new user which is created on the system. How do I preserve my settings from being overwritten by sysprep? thanks!

  • Create restricted user on Debian server

    I want to create a user account for each of the key programs installed on my debian server. For example, for the following programs: Tomcat Nginx Supervisor PostgreSQL This seems to be recommended based on my reading online. However, I want to restrict these user accounts as much as possible, so that they dont have a shell login, dont have access to the other programs and are as limited as possible but still functional. Would anyone mind telling me how this could be achieved? My reading so far suggests this: echo "/usr/sbin/nologin" >> /etc/shells useradd -s /usr/sbin/nologin tomcat But I think there may be a more complete way of doing it. EDIT: I'm using debian squeeze

  • SSH keys fail for one user

    I just set up a new Debian server. I disabled root SSH and password auth, so you've gotta use a key file. For my primary user, everything works exactly as expected. I used ssh-keygen -t dsa and got myself a public and private key. Put one in authorized keys, put the other in a pem file locally. I wanted to create a user that I can deploy things with, so I did basically the same process. I addusered it, made a .ssh folder, ran ssh-keygen -t dsa (I also tried RSA), put the keys in their appropriate locations. No luck. I'm getting a Permission denied (publickey) error. When I use the exact same keys as the account that works, same error. When I enable password authentication, I can log in via SSH with the password. How do I debug this?

  • Using standard e-mail address as user system wide name

    I'm going to re-build a very old Lotus Notes infrastructure coming from 4.x towards 8.5. I'm trying to setup Domino so that all user names should be of a single string or the internet e-mail address. For example the user "John Smith/ACME" should be in the whole system jsmith or [email protected] . I still get jsmith/ACME all around. Where it is most annoying is in the NAB when creating a new message. Is there a way to get all addresses in uniform standard e-mail adress format at least in mail ? The mixup in the destination like "John Smith/ACME, [email protected]" confused the users.
