  • Where to set catch-all address in Postfix (virtual mailboxes in affect)

    I successfully configured Postfix to deliver messages to virtual mailboxes. I can set aliases and pipes inside /etc/postfix/virtual and mailboxes inside /etc/postfix/virtual_mailbox files. However, whenever I set a catch-all domain and point to a remote email address, it overrides all other virtual mailboxes and virtual aliases set in postfix. How can I set a catch-all forwarding to the remote email address when virtual mailbox is enabled? I set catch-all like this: @mydomain.com [email protected] Thanks for your help!

  • Trying to get to the command prompt through recovery disk

    I'm trying to reach the command prompt through a vista recovery disk I have, and it boots from the disk and gets to the point where it asks which installation I want to repair and then says the disk is not compatible with my version of windows. I have a dual boot setup with Vista and server 2008 R2. Is there another was to run check disk? I can't boot in safemode or normally, I suspect a driver (atipcie) is the problem

  • Web-based disk space visualizer

    I have a number of Linux webservers for which I'd like to track where disk space is going and keep disk space to a minimum. Typically I login on SSH and use du to find out where disk space is wasted but this is cumbersome and slow. A visualisation tool like KDirStat would be ideal, but it requires installing an X server at the very least, which kind of defeats the purpose. Is there any web-based disk space visualizer? I'm open to alternative solutions.

    I really like the Windows XP Mode virtual machine that comes with Windows 7 (once you download the integration components). I teach technical training classes, and having a machine configured for the classroom is very helpful. My question is, can I configure more than one? The documentation suggests you can make multiple virtual machines, but I can't tell if I can have multiple "Windows XP Mode" VMs. It can't be as simple as configuring one, then just making a copy of the primary disk file, could it? I only plan to run one at a time, but I'd like to configure multiple different VMs for different classes, all running XP if possible. Thanks for any help!

  • Eject a bad disk from optical drive

    I have an Alienware computer with one of the optical DVD drives that does not have a manual tray, just a slot to insert the disk. I recently inserted a disk that was apparently bad. It is unreadable does not show up in Windows Explorer. I tried right clicking on the Drive letter and hitting eject, but get an error message that there is no disk in the drive. How do I get the d--ned disk out so I can use the drive?

  • Virtual Disk Manager: The service cannot be started

    I installed a SSD disk in my computer and installed Windows 7 in it. I disabled defragmentation on the disk. Now when I try to partition my other disk I'm getting an error Virtual Disk Manager The service cannot be started, either because it is disabled or because it has no enabled devices associated with it. Well, I'm not willing to enable defragmentation because it makes the lifespan of the SSD shorter. Solutions? Thanks

  • Is there some file browser that uses low level functions to browse hard disk?

    I have Windows 7, NTFS hard disk. I have detected rootkit files but can't delete them through Windows explorer, obviously because they are not visible. Is there some other file browser that is using low level function calls, lower that win api, so that I can try to see and study these files before removal. I know the exact locations. I know that I can load some live CD and delete them, but I wonder about the first possible solution.

  • Repair corrupt hard disk on Mac without install CD

    The hard disk of my late 2009 MacBook Pro appears to have become corrupted. I am traveling and do not have my install CD (and won't for several weeks, nor will I be anywhere near an Apple store). The hard disk is not the original, which failed in June 2011. It's some Hitachi replacement installed by IT. History: I was typing an email this afternoon, my computer suddenly started making soft clicking sounds and then froze. I was not moving around. I rebooted, which took a while. I heard more clicking sounds and the computer froze at least once again. It's now kind of working, with mdworker sucking up one CPU. There are no awkward hard drive sounds when I run Chrome or play music. However, when I launched Stickies, I found no trace of my saved Stickies. I ran a live disk verification from within Disk Utility, and it reported Problem: As reported, I don't have access to an installation disc and am nowhere near an area where I can get one for at least two weeks. I have the option of asking someone to go to some trouble and expense to get one for me, but I'm not sure it's worth it: I've read that I can use fsck from single-user mode to repair the disk. Should I just try this? Is it risky? I'm concerned that the clicky sound portends imminent (mechanical) hard drive failure, so it's not worth doing a silly repair. This hard disk is backed up, but I definitely won't be able to access the backup while traveling. I'd like to maximize the probability that I can keep using my computer (and all its current files) while traveling. Update I bit the bullet and ran fsck -fy from single-user mode. It only needed one pass (modification) to reach the "okay" stage. However, rebooting took nearly 5 min and involved several rounds of scratchy sounds and a few bad clicks. I'm now back to kind of using my computer (the same files are missing as before). When I ran live disk verification from Disk Utility this time, however, it reported that the volume appears to be OK. Am I right to infer from the scratchy sounds, however, that my hard drive is still rapidly on its way out? Is there anything else I can do to increase its functionality over the next few weeks?

I used windirstat which tells you how much data a folder is holding but i still cant figure out the problem. I did notice a folder holding 1.7gb for visual studio's intellitrack (or whatever that thing is called)

  • Extensive use of HDD after VmWare Player virtual machine is closed.

    Each time I close virtual machine in VmWare Player I see extensive use of HDD in my system. Basically, whole system becomes unresponsive for about 5-7 minutes. Host system is Windows 7 Utimate x64 SP1 with 6 GB of memory, i3-M350 processor. Virtual machine is Windows XP SP3 x86 (2GB of memory allocated for VM). What can be the cause and what can I do to solve the issue? UPDATE: I am not shutting down the VM, I just close Player window and VM saves it's state. System becomes unresponsive right after VM have saved it state (as indicated by Player) and Player itself have closed.

    OS: Microsoft Windows Vista SP2, Microsoft Windows 7 My laptop is plugged to a docking station that supports dual monitors, which I use extensively. I have windows placed where I want them. All is well and predictable with this setup until I un-dock. The moment I un-dock all windows that I placed in the secondary monitor piles up in the primary monitor and it is an unholy mess. So, I am looking for a solution where if I use virtual desktops, one of them can be mapped to a monitor and when un-docked what was there in the secondary monitor stays in a virtual desktop. Do you folks know of a tool or workaround that can address my quandary?

  • Mod Rewrite - directing HTTP/HTTPS traffic to the appropriate virtual hosts

    I have an Apache2 web server (v. 2.2.16) running on Debian hosting three virtual hosts. The first two hosts are HTTP only (server1 and server2). The last host is HTTPS only (server3). My virtual host configuration files can be found at pastebin. I would like to use mod rewrite to get the following behavior: Any request for http://server3 is re-directed to https://server3 Any request for either https://server1 or https://server2 is re-directed to http://server1 or http://server2 as appropriate. Currently, requesting http://server3 gives you a 403 because indexing is disabled for that host and a request for https://server1 or https://server2 will resolve as https://server3 (as its the only virtual host running SSL). This behavior is not desirable. So far I have added a rewrite rule to the central configuration file (myServerWideConfs.conf), with unfortunately no effect. I was under the impression that this rule (or something similar) should rewrite all https:// requests for server1 and server2 to the proper http:// request. RewriteEngine On RewriteCond %{HTTP_HOST} !^server3 [NC] RewriteRule (.*) http://%{HTTP_HOST} My question is two-fold: What mod rewrite rules should I use to accomplish this? And where should they go? Debian's packaging of Apache has a pretty granular (i.e., fractured) configuration file layout; should my rewrite rules go in /etc/apache2/apache2.conf, /etc/apache2/conf.d/myServerWideConfs.conf, or the individual virtual host files? Is mod rewrite the right tool to accomplish this or am I missing something in my greater apache configuration?

  • Windows Azure Virtual Machines - Make Sure You Follow the Documentation

    To create a Windows Azure Infrastructure-as-a-Service Virtual Machine you have several options. You can simply select an image from a “Gallery” which includes Windows or Linux operating systems, or even a Windows Server with pre-installed software like SQL Server. One of the advantages to Windows Azure Virtual Machines is that it is stored in a standard Hyper-V format – with the base hard-disk as a VHD. That means you can move a Virtual Machine from on-premises to Windows Azure, and then move it back again. You can even use a simple series of PowerShell scripts to do the move, or automate it with other methods. And this then leads to another very interesting option for deploying systems: you can create a server VHD, configure it with the software you want, and then run the “SYSPREP” process on it. SYSPREP is a Windows utility that essentially strips the identity from a system, and when you re-start that system it asks a few details on what you want to call it and so on. By doing this, you can essentially create your own gallery of systems, either for testing, development servers, demo systems and more. Whenever you deploy a system to Windows Azure Virtual Machines, you must meet certain password complexity requirements. However, when you build the machine locally and SYSPREP it, you might not choose a strong password for the account you use to Remote Desktop to the machine. In that case, you might not be able to reach the system after you deploy it. Once again, the key here is reading through the instructions before you start.                A         long         time      ago in a    blogosphere   far, far away... I wrote four blog entries to describe the new network virtualization features that were in Solaris 11 Express: Part 1 introduced the concept of network virtualization and listed the basic virtual network elements. Part 2 expanded on the concepts and discussed the resource management features. Part 3 demonstrated the creation of some of these virtual network elements. Part 4 demonstrated the network resource controls. I had planned a final entry that added virtual routers to the list of virtual network elements, but Jeff McMeekin wrote a paper that discuses the same features. That paper is available at OTN. And this Jeff can't write any better than that Jeff... All of the features described in those blog entries and that paper are also available in Solaris 11. It is possible that some details have changed, but the vast majority of the content is unchanged.

When I navigate to http://localhost, my CakePHP default homepage shows as expected: Screenshot 1 But when I navigate to http://3dweergave, my CakePHP default homepage doesn't show as expected. It looks like every relative link to resources are not accepted by the server: Screenshot 2 For example, the CSS isn't loaded. When I open the source and click on the link, it opens the CSS file in the browser without errors. But when I run FireBug while loading the webpage, it seems that the CSS file isn't retrieved. (<link rel="stylesheet" type="text/css" href="/css/cake.generic.css" />) How can I fix this unwanted behaviour?
