• Looking for a very simple file-based CMS

  I'm building a site for a friend for free, and am trying to work out a good way for her to be able to easily make updates. I haven't used any CMSs before. I was browsing the web today looking at some, and they all seem way too complicated for what I'm after. Basically, all I want is a really simple CMS that pulls together HTML snippets in particular subdirectories, and wraps them in header/footer HTML and inserts them into a template page in the appropriate section. I'm imagining a site layout something like this: / /index.php /blog_template.php /news_template.php /blog/ /blog/header.php /blog/footer.php /blog/my-first-blog.html /blog/blogs-rule.html /blog/... Say index.php contains div#blog. PHP would wrap each /blog/*.html file in /blog/header.php and blog/footer.php, and insert them into the div#blog as div#blog([0-9]*). I haven't been able to find anything this basic, and am one step away from throwing something together myself, but I'm a bit short on time at the moment and figured I'd post here first. Has anyone come across something like this? I don't want any DB, extensions, user accounts, installation, config, updates... just a simple file based solution. • Appending facts into an existing prolog file.

  Hi, I'm having trouble inserting facts into an existing prolog file, without overwriting the original contents. Suppose I have a file test.pl: :- dynamic born/2. born(john,london). born(tim,manchester). If I load this in prolog, and I assert more facts: | ?- assert(born(laura,kent)). yes I'm aware I can save this by doing: |?- tell('test.pl'),listing(born/2),told. Which works but test.pl now only contains the facts, not the ":- dynamic born/2": born(john,london). born(tim,manchester). born(laura,kent). This is problematic because if I reload this file, I won't be able to insert anymore facts into test.pl because ":- dynamic born/2." doesn't exist anymore. I read somewhere that, I could do: append('test.pl'),listing(born/2),told. which should just append to the end of the file, however, I get the following error: ! Existence error in user:append/1 ! procedure user:append/1 does not exist ! goal: user:append('test.pl') Btw, I'm using Sicstus prolog. Does this make a difference? Thanks!

  I am attempting to transfer a set of photos (blobs) from one table to another across databases. I'm nearly there, except for binding the photo parameter. • Assign Multiple Custom User Roles to a Custom Post Type

  Okay here's the situation.... I'm working on a my business website. There will be a work/portfolio area. "Work" is a custom post type. "Designer" is a custom user role. "Client" is a custom user role. In creating a new "Work" post I would like to be able to select both a "designer" and "Client" to assign to the piece of work, as I would assign an author to a regular ol' post.   When i declare mac = 123, my internet explorer and firefox will keep refresh non-stop. And if i declare mac = getMacAddress it returns a value 1... I'm able to do a document.write(getMacAddress()) and it would able to display the mac address nicely. 1) Why my explorer will keep refreshing non-stop when i code it manually with "123" 2) why is the document.write able to display out, and when i store it to the cookie, somehow it didnt mange to capture into the cookie and it return a value of "1". • Problem writing a snippet containing Emacs Lisp code

  Hi all, I've been trying to make use of a cool feature of YASnippet: write snippets containing embedded Emacs Lisp code. There is a snippet for rst-mode that surrounds the entered text with "=" that is as long as the text such as in ==== Text ==== Based on this snippet, I decided to slightly modify it (with Elisp) so that it comments out these three lines depending on the major mode you are in (I thought that such a snippet would be useful to organize the source code). So I wrote this: ${1:`(insert comment-start)`} ${2:$(make-string (string-width text) ?\-)} $1 ${2:Text} $1 ${2:$(make-string (string-width text) ?\-)} $0 This code works relatively well except for one problem: the indentation of these three lines gets mixed up, depending on the major mode I'm in (e.g., in emacs-lisp-mode, the second and the third lines move more to the right than the first line). I think the source of the problem might have something to do with what comes after the string ${1: on the first line. If I add a character, I have no problem (i.e., all three lines are correctly aligned at the end of the snippet expansion). If I add a single space after this string, the misalignment problem still continues though. So my question is: do you know of any way of rewriting this snippet so that this misalignment does not arise? Do you know what's the source of this behaviour? Cheers,

  I have the following code which is in a transaction. I'm not sure where/when I should be commiting my unit of work. On purpose, I've not mentioned what type of Respoistory i'm using - eg. Linq-To-Sql, Entity Framework 4, NHibernate, etc. If someone knows where, can they please explain WHY they have said, where? • Machine leaning algorithm for data classification.

  Hi all, I'm looking for some guidance about which techniques/algorithms I should research to solve the following problem. I've currently got an algorithm that clusters similar-sounding mp3s using acoustic fingerprinting. In each cluster, I have all the different metadata (song/artist/album) for each file. For that cluster, I'd like to pick the "best" song/artist/album metadata that matches an existing row in my database, or if there is no best match, decide to insert a new row. For a cluster, there is generally some correct metadata, but individual files have many types of problems: Artist/songs are completely misnamed, or just slightly mispelled the artist/song/album is missing, but the rest of the information is there the song is actually a live recording, but only some of the files in the cluster are labeled as such. there may be very little metadata, in some cases just the file name, which might be artist - song.mp3, or artist - album - song.mp3, or another variation A simple voting algorithm works fairly well, but I'd like to have something I can train on a large set of data that might pick up more nuances than what I've got right now. Any links to papers or similar projects would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

• Pros and Cons of using SqlCommand Prepare in C#?

  When i was reading books to learn C# (might be some old Visual Studio 2005 books) I've encountered advice to always use SqlCommand.Prepare everytime I execute SQL call (whether its' a SELECT/UPDATE or INSERT on SQL SERVER 2005/2008) and I pass parameters to it. But is it really so? Should it be done every time? Or just sometimes? Does it matter whether it's one parameter being passed or five or twenty? What boost should it give if any? Would it be noticeable at all (I've been using SqlCommand.Prepare here and skipped it there and never had any problems or noticeable differences). • Storing float numbers as strings in android database

  So I have an app where I put arbitrary strings in a database and later extract them like this: Cursor DBresult = myDatabase.query(false, Constant.DATABASE_NOTES_TABLE_NAME, new String[] {"myStuff"}, where, null, null, null, null, null); DBresult.getString(0); This works fine in all cases except for when the string looks like a float number, for example "221.123123123". After saving it to the database I can extract the database to my computer and look inside it with a DB-viewer, and the saved number is correct. However, when using cursor.getString() the string "221.123" is returned. I cant for the life of me understand how I can prevent this. I guess I could do a cursor.getDouble() on every single string to see if this gives a better result, but that feels sooo ugly and inefficient. Any suggestions? • Inserting an element within jQuery Validation plugin's error template

  I'm utilizing the jQuery Validation plugin for my form. It lets you change the errorElement and wrap the errorElement using with the wrapper option. But, I want to insert an element within errorElement like this: <label class="error"><em></em>Error message goes here</label> Is there an easy way to accomplish inserting the em tag? I've tried prepending the em tag using the errorPlacement option (see below), but it seems the plugin is replacing the contents of errorElement afterwards. $.validator.setDefaults({ errorPlacement: function(error, element) { error.prepend('<em/>'); error.insertBefore(element); } }); I've also tried prepending the em tag using the showErrors option (see below). • Using WordPress as a CMS

  Hi, Hoping someone can assist but I am currently teaching myself WordPress and working on my own CMS site. My site will consist of approx 5 pages where the header/sidebar menu/footer will be seen on all these 5 pages. Newbie here and questions are as follows: 1) All these 5 pages will consist of different content, for example, every page will have a image banner representing the menu option just clicked, for example, "About Us" on page 5, "Promotions" on page 4 etc and then some text beneath that and then possibly some images inside a carousel set up. Within WordPress, how would I tackle this, i.e. do I just create a page in WordPress, position the banner image at the top of the page, then have a few breaks and then insert the carousel of images - is this correct? If not, do I need to create a separate php file called aboutUs.php that has this markup and then somehow link it to a WordPress page? 2) On my landing page of my site ONLY (page 1), just above the footer, I want to display a div section that displays all the sponsors of the website along with a URL to click to their websites - how would I go about doing this in WordPress? If there are any sites that people know that will somehow answer my queries, pls pass them on. Thanks.

  I am developing a script that takes an article, searches the article for a "keyword" and then randomly replaces that keyword with an anchor link. I have the script working as it should, however I need to be able to have an array of "replacements" for the function to loop through and insert at the random location. So the first random position would get anchor link #1. The second random position would get anchor link #2. The third random position would get anchor link #3. etc... • Vim: yank and replace -- the same yanked input -- multiple times, and two other questions

  Now that I am using vim for everything I type, rather then just for configuring servers, I wan't to sort out the following trivialities. I tried to formulate Google search queries but the results didn't address my questions :D. Question one: How do I yank and replace multiple times ? Once I have something in the yank history (if that is what its called) and then highlight and use the 'p' char in command mode the replaced text is put at the front of the yank history; therefore subsequent replace operations do not use the the text I intended. I imagine this to be a usefull feature under certain circumstances but I do not have a need for it in my workflow. Question two: How do I type text without causing the line to ripple forward ? I use hard-tab stops to allign my code in a certain way -- e.g., FunctionNameX ( lala * land ); FunctionNameProto ( ); When I figure out what needs to go into the second function, how do I insert it without move the text up ? Question three Is there a way of having a uniform yank history across gvim instances on the same machine ? I have 1 monitors. Just wondering, atm I am using highlight + mouse middle click.

• What is the best way to identify which form has been submitted?

  Currently, when I design my forms, I like to keep the name of the submit button equal to the id of the form. Then, in my php, I just do if(isset($_POST['submitName'])) in order to check if a form has been submitted and which form has been submitted. Firstly, are there any security problems or design flaws with this method? One problem I have encountered is when I wish to overlay my forms with javascript in order to provide faster validation to the user. For example, whilst I obviously need to retain server side validation, it is more convenient for the user if an error message is displayed inline, upon blurring an input. Additionally, it would be good to provide entire form validation, upon clicking the submit button. Therefore, when the user clicks on the form's submit button, I am stopping the default action, doing my validation, and then attempting to renable the traditional submit functionality, if the validation passes. In order to do this, I am using the form.submit() method but, unfortunately, this doesn't send the submit button variable (as it should be as form.submit() can be called without any button being clicked). This means my PHP script fails to detect that the form has been submitted. What is the correct way to work around this? It seems like the standard solution is to add a hidden field into the form, upon passing validation, which has the name of form's id. Then when form.submit() is called, this is passed along in place of the submit button. However, this solution seems very ungraceful to me and so I am wondering whether I should: a) Use an alternative method to detect which form has been submitted which doesn't rely rely on passing the submit button. If so what alternative is there? Obviously, just having an extra hidden field from the start isn't any better. b) Use an alternative Javascript solution which allows me to retain my non-Javascript design. For example, is there an alternative to form.submit() which allows me to pass in extra data? c) Suck it up and just insert a hidden field using Javascript.

• Best practice for inserting large chunks of HTML into elements with Javscript?

  Hey guys. I'm building a web application (using prototype) at the moment that requires the addition of large chunks of HTML into the DOM. Most of these are rows that contain elements with all manner of attributes. Currently I keep a blank row of html in a variable and var blankRow = '<tr><td>' +'<a href="{LINK}" onclick="someFunc(\'{STRING}\');">{WORD}</a>' +'</td></tr>'; function insertRow(o) { newRow = blankRow .sub('{LINK}',o.link) .sub('{STRING}',o.string) .sub('{WORD}',o.word); $('tbodyElem').insert( newRow ); } Now that works all well and dandy, but is it the best practice? I have to update the code in the blankRow when I update code on the page, so the new elements being inserted are the same. It gets sucky when I have like 40 lines of HTML to go in a blankRow and then I have to escape it too. Is there an easier way? I was thinking of urlencoding and then decoding it before insertion but that would still mean a blankRow and lots of escaping.   I use WCF RIA Services to update customer database. In domain service: public void UpdateCustomer(Customer customer) { this.ObjectContext.Customers.AttachAsModified(customer); syncCustomer(customer); } After update, a database trigger launches and depending on the columns updated it may insert a new record in CustomerChange table. syncCustomer(customer) method is executed to check for a new record in the CustomerChange table and if found it will create a text file which contains customer information and forwards that file to external system for import. Now this synchronization may take a time so I wanted to execute it in different thread. So: private void syncCustomer(Customer customer) { this.ObjectContext.SaveChanges(); new Thread(() => syncCustomerInfo(customer.CustomerID)) { IsBackground = true }.Start(); } private void syncCustomerInfo(int customerID) { //Thread.Sleep(2000); //does real job here ... ... } The problem is in most cases syncCustomerInfo method cannot find any new CustomerChange record even if it was definitely there. If I force thread sleep then it finds a new record. I also looked Entity Framework events but the only event provided by object context is SavingChanges which occur before changes are saved. Please suggest me what else to try.

• document.write Not working when loading external Javascript source

  I'm trying to load an external JavaScript file dynamically into an HTML element to preview an ad tag. The script loads and executes but the script contains "document.write" which has an issue executing properly but there are no errors. <html> <head> <script src="//ajax.googleapis.com/ajax/libs/jquery/2.0.3/jquery.min.js"></script> <script type="text/javascript"> $(function() { source = 'http://ib.adnxs.com/ttj?id=555281'; // DOM Insert Approach // ----------------------------------- var script = document.createElement('script'); script.setAttribute('type', 'text/javascript'); script.setAttribute('src', source); document.body.appendChild(script); }); </script> </head> <body> </body> </html> I can get it to work if If i move the the source to the same domain for testing If the script was modified to use document.createElement and appendChild instead of document.write like the code above. I don't have the ability to modify the script since it being generated and hosted by a 3rd party. Does anyone know why the document.write will not work correctly? And is there a way to get around this? Thanks for the help!

• Pre-populate iPhone Safari SQLite DB

  I'm working with a PhoneGap app that uses Safari local storage (SQlite DB) via Javascript: http://developer.apple.com/safari/library/documentation/iPhone/Conceptual/SafariJSDatabaseGuide/UsingtheJavascriptDatabase/UsingtheJavascriptDatabase.html On first load, the app creates the database, tables, and populates the data via a series of INSERT statements. If the user closes the app while this processing is happening, then my app database is left in an inconsistent state. What I prefer to do is deploy the SQLite DB as part of my iTunes App packaging so nothing must be populated at app cold start. However, I'm not sure if that is possible -- all of the google hits for this topic that I can find are referring to the core-data provided SQLite which is not what we're using... If it's not possible, could I wrap the entire thing in a transaction and keep re-trying it when the app is restarted? Failing that, I guess I can create a simple table with one boolean column "is_app_db_loaded?" and set it to true after I've processed all my inserts. But that's really gross... Ideas? Thanks!!

  I am having difficulties when trying to insert files into an MsSQL database. I'll try to break this down as best as I can: What data type should I be using to store image files (jpeg/png/gif/etc)? Right now my table is using the image data type, but I am curious if varbinary would be a better option. How would I go about inserting the image into the database? Does Microsoft SQL Server Management Studio have any built in functions that allow insertions of files into tables? If so, how is that done? Also, how could this be done through the use of an HTML form with PHP handling the input data and placing it into the table? How would I fetch the image from the table and display it on the page? I understand how to SELECT the cell's contents, but how would I go about translating that into a picture. Would I have to have a header(Content type: image/jpeg)? I have no problem doing any of these things with MySQL, but the MsSQL environment is still new to me, and I am working on a project for my job that requires the use of stored procedures to grab various data. What I've tried below is not working and I'm unsure how to make it work. What I'm trying to do is create a div and assign it some attributes, then append this div to all the < li elements that are the on the last node of my unordered list. And lastly, but most important I want to retrieve the value of the attribute called "p_node" from the < li that is being appended to and insert it in as part of the ID of the newly created div.
