• Recognition source of event in PyQT

  Hi, I`m starting with PyQt4 and right now I have a problem with events. I have one main class let say MainWindow. MainWindow has a list of buttons of type ButtonX (inherence form QPushButton). I would like to achieve one of 2 solutions (depends which is easier). 1) After click one of the button from the list I would like to run a one method of MainWindow. I would like to be able to read a source of event there (recognize clicked button) 2) Second solution is to run a method defined in ButtonX class. What I tried is: QtCore.QObject.connect(self.getButton(0, 0), QtCore.SIGNAL("clicked()"), self.getButton(0, 0).buttonMethod()) QtCore.QObject.connect(self.getButton(0, 0), QtCore.SIGNAL("clicked()"), self.getButton(0, 0), QtCore.SLOT("incrementValue()")) and even this line occure suspend Python interpreter QtCore.QObject.connect(self.getButton(0, 0), QtCore.SIGNAL("clicked()"), self.getButton(0, 0), QtCore.SLOT("incrementValue"))

  I have an object called Time public class Time{ public int Hour {get;set;} public int Minute {get;set;} public static Time Parse(string timeString){ //reads the ToString()'s previous output and returns a Time object } override protected string ToString(){ //puts out something like 14:50 (as in 2:50PM) } } So what I want is for the automatic model binding on the Edit or Create action to set this Time instance up from a string (i.e. feed the Parse method with the string and return the result). The reason I am doing this is that I will have a DropDownList with selectable times. The value of each option will be the parser readable string. Can anyone provide an example BindModel method from the IModelBinder interface?

• ValidatorEnable is not defined when rolled with AJAX

  I have some webforms which have been working fine with various static and dynamically generated validators. For some reason now that I have implemented UpdatePanels on the forms, when I manually call the ValidatorEnable() method on one of them (when I click a checkbox) I get the "ValidatorEnable is not defined" error message. I am passing the same clientID etc into the method that I was using before I implemented the AJAX.net controls It would seem .net isnt rendering the /WebResource.axd?d=aUu4P3dfjWWyw3KQ9t2ZdqxnzYhrtq9uWWiRZduXE-g1 script to the page, adding it manually I get other missing JS objects. So how can I force it to register the relevant scripts? N.B. The validators in question are being rendered in a repeater

• Javascript to PHP, mysql uploading, one button pressing solution

  my program is generating buttons from a mysql database.When one of the button is pressed, it would uplod the current time and the gps coordinate. Sadly, it only works if the same button is pressed twice, but its not an option, because the button has to dissappear. • Problem with debug watch in Visual Studio with yield return enumerator methods

  I have a method which returns an IEnumerable<> which it builds up using the yield return syntax: public IEnumerable<ValidationError> Validate(User user) { if (String.IsNullOrEmpty(user.Name)) { yield return new ValidationError("Name", ValidationErrorType.Required); } [...] yield break; } If I put a breakpoint in the method, I can step over each line, but if I try to use the Watch or Immediate windows to view the value of a variable I get this error: Cannot access a non-static member of outer type '[class name].Validate' via nested type '[class name]' Does anyone know why this is and how I can get around it?

• Is this a valid pattern for raising events in C#?

  Update: For the benefit of anyone reading this, since .NET 4, the lock is unnecessary due to changes in synchronization of auto-generated events, so I just use this now: public static void Raise<T>(this EventHandler<T> handler, object sender, T e) where T : EventArgs { if (handler != null) { handlerCopy(sender, e); } } And to raise it: SomeEvent.Raise(this, new FooEventArgs()); Having been reading one of Jon Skeet's articles on multithreading, I've tried to encapsulate the approach he advocates to raising an event in an extension method like so (with a similar generic version): public static void Raise(this EventHandler handler, object @lock, object sender, EventArgs e) { EventHandler handlerCopy; lock (@lock) { handlerCopy = handler; } if (handlerCopy != null) { handlerCopy(sender, e); } } This can then be called like so: protected virtual void OnSomeEvent(EventArgs e) { this.someEvent.Raise(this.eventLock, this, e); } Are there any problems with doing this? Also, I'm a little confused about the necessity of the lock in the first place. As I understand it, the delegate is copied in the example in the article to avoid the possibility of it changing (and becoming null) between the null check and the delegate call. However, I was under the impression that access/assignment of this kind is atomic, so why is the lock necessary? There are features in iPhone OS4 that I would like to take advantage of, but I would like for my app to also run on 3.X.   Hi, My Grails app has the following Spring bean defined in spring/resources.groovy calendarService(CalendarService) { bean -> bean.initMethod = "init" } This method looks something like: class CalendarService { void init() { User.findByEmail("[email protected]") } } When I call the dynamic finder findByEmail I get a MissingMethodException. My guess is that I'm trying to call this method too early, i.e. before the domain classes have had the dynamic finders added to their metaclass. One solution would be to call CalendarService.init() myself from Bootstrap.init, rather than instructing Spring to call it, but is there a better solution? Thanks, Don

I'm looking for the following: Benchmarks (including response times/pageload times et al) Links or results to similar benchmarks One (possible) method of testing Google Analytics (GA) on your site: Serve ga.js (the Google Analytics JavaScript file) from your own server. Update from Google Daily (test 1) and Weekly (test 2). I would be interested to see how this reduces the communication between the client webserver and the GA server. Has anyone conducted any of these tests? If so, can you provide your results? If not, does anyone have a better method for testing the performance hit (or lack thereof) for using GA?

• Sending information back from delegate [iPhone]

  I'm using NSXMLParser in my RootViewController.m file. NSXMLParser *xmlParser = [[NSXMLParser alloc] initWithData:response_data]; [xmlParser setDelegate:self]; [xmlParser parse]; [xmlParser release]; I'm also implementing this method to add entries to a dictionary defined in RootViewController.m for later use: - (void)parser:(NSXMLParser *)parser didStartElement:(NSString *)elementName namespaceURI:(NSString *)namespaceURI qualifiedName:(NSString *)qualifiedName attributes:(NSDictionary *)attributeDict However, I'd like to get more than one XML file and do different things when the file has finished; this sounds like I need to use external files as delegates. My question is: If I have the following implementation files (& their header files): RootViewController.m XMLDelegate1.m XMLDelegate2.m and set the ith NSXMLParser delegate to be XMLDelegatei.m, and get those files to return an NSDictionary that I can then add to the NSDictionary defined in RootViewController.m. I guess there are two methods of doing this: Use a method that I don't know about; or Use a better workflow I suspect it's 2, but hope it's 1. Thanks, Andy

  Hey, I am trying to implement Twitter's OAuth into my Code Igniter web application at which the callback URL is /auth/ so once you have authenticated with Twitter you are taken to /auth/?oauth_token=SOME-TOKEN. I want to keep the nice clean URL's the framework provides using the /controller/method/ style of URL but I want to enable query strings as well, there will only ever be one name of the data oauth_token so it's ok if it has to be hard coded. Any ideas? I have tried tons of the things people are saying to do, but none work :( PS: I'm using the .htaccess method of URL rewriting.

• HttpWebResponse get mixed up when used inside multiple threads

  In my Application I have a few threads who will get data from a web service. Basically I just open an URL and get an XML output. I have a few threads who do this continuously but with different URLs. Sometimes the results are mixed up. The XML output doesn't belong to the URL of a thread but to the URL of another thread. In each thread I create an instance of the class GetWebPage and call the method Get from this instance. The method is very simple and based mostly on code from the MSDN documentation. (See below. At least I don't see any. The url is the service I call in the internet and buffer is the XML Output from the server. Like I said I have multiple instances of this class/method in a few threads (10 to 12) and sometimes buffer does not belong the the url of the same thread but another thread.

(By the method's contract, nodeType will always describe a subclass of DirectiveNode.) I am not sure when calling a constructor would return null, so I am not sure if I should handle anything at all, but I still want to be on the safe side and throw an exception if something goes wrong.

  I have seen people using 2 methods to declare and define char * Medhod-1: The header file has the below const char* COUNTRY_NAME_USA = "USA"; Medhod-2: The header file has the below declaration const char* COUNTRY_NAME_USA; The cpp file has the below defintion : const char* COUNTRY_NAME_USA = "USA"; Is method-2 wrong in some way ? What is the difference between the two ? I understand the difference between "const char * const var" , and "const char * var". If in the above methods if a "const char * const var" is declared and defined in the header as in method 1 will it make sense ?

• Enable editing does not call didSelectRowAtIndexPath ??

  Hi I have a UITableViewController where the user should be able to edit the items. In order to enable editing i use this : self.navigationItem.rightBarButtonItem = self.editButtonItem; And for everyone, how does not know where self.editButtonItem comes from, it is predefined by the SDK. So, now when I press on any item, this method is called : - (void)tableView:(UITableView *)tableView didSelectRowAtIndexPath:(NSIndexPath *)indexPath but as soon as I hit the edit button and while editing is active, this method does not seemed to be called. Any idea what I missing ? • Starting Frame-By-Frame Animation

  Hi, I have a basic question about starting a frame-by-frame animation. When I call the AnimationDrawable.start() method from my code directly, it doesn't seem to work. public void onCreate(Bundle savedInstanceState) { ... mAnimation.start(); ... } But if I put this line inside the onClick() callback method of a button, pressing the buton starts the animation. Why doesn't this line work in the code? Thanks!

• Connecting Android XML and Code

  I'm new to android and have gotten used to doing all my previous UI in code. I can understand the simple examples, but I'm trying something more complex and have no idea how to do it in code and XML. I'm trying to use the google map api and draw text on the map at a specified spot. I have succeeded in doing so by extending overlay and overriding the draw method using drawtext. This has pretty much accomplished what I'm looking to do, but I want have read that is poor practice. I now want to add a second line below the first and just using \n does not work. I can work it out using another drawtext method, but I figured it would be better to create a custom textview, I just have no idea how to position it using code and encapsulate it inside the overlay. Maybe the way I'm doing it is the best way...
