  • How does SO's form remember previous input values?

    I've noticed that the Title or Body part is remembered if I come back to the Ask Question page by pressing Back button of my browser. This feature is available in all browsers I tested, but doesn't exist for the forms in my own projects. How can I approach that effect? UPDATE I still don't have any clue yet,but guess it that some kind of client cache enabled by http headers or javascript?

  • Is the W3 standard a major factor when google decides SERP position?

    I have a dynamic php website which index only has around 800 errors according to the w3 validator online. I have tried checking major websites like ebay, stackoverflow and others also, all with around 400 errors. So my first thought is, what good is that validator when it always displays errors? Secondly, will the errors affect my SERP ranking? ie, will me fixing these errors as good as I can increase my Google search position? Thanks

  • Calling Javascript after linking to another page

    I am doing an integration with a support system (Helpstream) and I am currently working on doing some in-app context sensitive help. I have put in a link that will send the user to a section of Helpstream that will allow them to ask a question. Problem is, there are buttons on the page that call Javascript that will bring up a lightbox where the user fills out a form to submit a question. What I need to do is have that form come up after the user goes through the link, so essentially run the Javascript once the user hits the page. The call that I have to implement is NewTopic.CreateNew({type:"Question"}) Any tips would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.

Wrapper is the container for the inner div's, and the rest are content oriented. So i've already implemented this with styles and all sorts, but the thing is I want to add: <div class="watermark"></div> underneath/behind both the content and video div, sort of like a reverse watermark, I've tried z-indexing but i'm not an expert.   • Automatically save CSS changes made to existing styles in Chrome dev tools?

    I've already mapped the necessary files to the local resource - however, while that does allow me to save any changes made to a file in the Sources panel, I was wondering if it's possible to automatically save changes to CSS made in the Elements panel. Otherwise at the moment, any changes made to the style in the Elements panel seem to exist only there. I remember at some point there used to be a little indicator of the file and line number next to a class/id etc. in the Styles tab of the Elements panel - surely it can't be that hard to simply 'update' any changes to that style rule considering Chrome knows exactly where it's coming from (in the case that it's a stylesheet and not an inline style?). It would be a great relief to my workflow. The answers to this similar question are obsolete.

    Hello, I am having a problem with jquery going a bit too far on pattern matching of CSS classes and IDs. I have some markup that looks like this: <div id="blah"> <div class="level2"> <input type="text" /> </div> <div class="levelA"> <div class="level2"> <input type="text" value="foo"/> </div> </div> </div> <input type="text" value="bar" /> I want for the 3 inputs to say Hello Foo Bar so I have this line of jquery: $('#blah .level2 input').val('hello'); the problem now is that jquery is a bit too liberal in it's pattern matches and matches both the first and second.     Hi, I am creating a cookie in a jsp script, which is located at: www.myproject.com/login/index.jsp if I restart the browser and navigate there, all works well, I can see the cookie persist. If I navigate to: www.myproject.com I am not seeing the cookie. Do I need to set something in the cookie path or domain to make the cookie visible to the entire [myproject.com] domain (I just want to access the cookie from whatever sub path the user may be on).
