  • Need help with some complex SQL query

    Hello guys, I need some help with a complex SQL query. Here's my setup: there are two tables, one with authors, and another with books. The books table contains a field named "author" which holds author's id. If a book has more than one author, then the "author" field will contain all the authors ids separated by ";" (something like 2;34;234). On the website I have to list all the books written by an author. If there's only one author, its simple, but how can I get those books where the author I'm interested in is the second or third author? Many thanks.

I tried to step through the debugger and the logic works perfectly fine. If the checkboxes aren't disabled on page load, the code works fine. I tried replacing disabled 'attributes' with 'checked' to see if the other attributes work fine and it works perfectly fine. I tried $("#" + childID).attr('disabled', ''); but it didnt work either. Note: It works perfect on FF and Chrome but doesnt work in IE. Thanks,

  • makecontext segfault?

    I am working on a homework assignment that will be due in the next semester. It requires us to implement our own context switching/thread library using the ucontext API. The professor provides code that does it, but before a thread returns, he manually does some work and calls an ISR that finds another thread to use and swapcontexts to it or if none are left, exits. The point of the assignment is to use the uc_link field of the context so that when it hits a return it takes care of the work. I've created a function (type void/void args) that just does the work the functions did before (clean up and then calls ISR). The professor said he wanted this. So all that's left is to do a makecontext somewhere along the way on the context in the uc_link field so that it runs my thread, right? Well, when I do makecontext on seemingly any combination of ucontext_t's and function, I get a segfault and gdb provides no help.. I can skip the makecontext and my program exist 'normally' when it hits a return in the threads I created because (presumably) the uc_link field is not properly setup (which is what I'm trying to do). I also can't find anything on why makecontext would segfault.     I've seen various Grails plugins which allow easier handling of file uploads, however these tend only to support a single file per form-submit. I'd like a multi-attach form where as soon as you pick one file, an extra field and button is added using JS (various sites do it like this). Do you know of any good plugins which provide elegant uploading of multiple files without excessive coding? A progress bar either per-file of for the whole process would also be very nice. I don't know to what extent I can allow GORM to handle a java.io.File field (or in this case a Collection<File>).

    Hi all I wrote a control, and use a tool to do the code analysis. There is a test that I didn't pass. Avoid excessive locals, http://msdn.microsoft.com/library/ms182263(VS.90).aspx. In my CreateChildControls function, I built a big table with lots of field. I need to create a lot of TableRow and TableCell to construct the table. But these are not field or property of control. Thery are local variables in the function, which are created dynamically. Should I make these TableCells and TableRows as fields of the control? Or I just keep them as the local variables in the CreateChildControl function? Best Regards,

    I just inherited a project that has code similar to the following (rather simple) example: DECLARE @Demo TABLE ( Quantity INT, Symbol NVARCHAR(10) ) INSERT INTO @Demo (Quantity, Symbol) SELECT 127, N'IBM' My interest is with the N before the string literal. I understand that the prefix N is to specify encoding (in this case, Unicode). But since the select is just for inserting into a field that is clearly already Unicode, wouldn't this value be automatically upcast? I've run the code without the N and it appears to work, but am I missing something that the previous programmer intended? Or was the N an oversight on his/her part? I expect behavior similar to when I pass an int to a decimal field (auto-upcast). Can I get rid of those Ns?

My javascript is bad and my debugger don't show me javascript errors but it just doesn't works because of something wrong with each.     There should be a simple Linq query for what I'm trying to accomplish, but I'm producing some ugly code. I have two tables, one of issues and another of issue status. There is a one-to-many relationship between issue and issue status. When an issue is created an IssueStatus is also created with the status field set to "Open" when it is closed, another IssueStatus is created with the status field set to "Closed" ... but issues can be re-opened. It seems like I should be able to write something like this: public static List<Issue> FindOpenIssues(this IList<Issue> issues) { return ( from issue in issues from issueStatus in issue.issueStatus.OrderBy(x=>x.CreatedOn).Single() where issueStatus.Status == "Open" select issue ).ToList(); } This obviously fails, but there must be a clean way to do this?   • Looping in filemaker using a local variable

    Been programming in C# for a little bit - trying to use file maker and I cant believe it but I cant even get a simple for loop to work. What I want to do is simple: loop through for the amount of entries in my "amountOfRooms" field and create an entry in a table for each room. Sounds so simple, but I cant get it to work. Right now I have this: Set Variable[$cnt[Customers::AmountOfRooms]; value:1] Go to Layout["rooms"(Rooms)] Loop Exit Loop If[$cnt = Customers::AmountOfRooms] New Record / Request Set Variable[$cnt; Value: $cnt + 1] End Loop Exit Script No new records are created. I know the script is running because it does go to my layout, but doesnt create any new records. There is a "Repetition" field for my local variable - not sure how to use that or what it means? Any thoughts on how to do this simple loop? Thanks.

    Hello all, I have a form with a submit button. I have attached a click event to that submit button using JQuery. Once I did this my form wasn't submitting, I thought this was because of the event I added- if I remove that click event it submits the form successfully. I have tried giving my form an id and calling the submit function but this was not successful either.   • $_POST Variable Detected in Chrome but not in Firefox

    I am using 2 images in a form to sort out query results from the database. The form is submitted using the POST method. When i click on the first image, the query results have to be sorted in ascending order, and when i click on the second, the results have to be sorted in the descending order. This is the code for the form: <form name="" action="" method="post"> <input type="hidden" name="typep" value="price" /> <input type="image" name="sort" value="asc" src="images/asc-ar.png" /> <input type="image" name="sort" value="desc" src="images/dsc-ar.png" /> </form> Now this is the code for checking if the $_REQUEST['sort'] variable is set and therefore whether sorting is required or not. if ($_REQUEST['sort'] != "") { $sort = $_REQUEST['sort']; $typep = $_REQUEST['typep']; //query to be executed depending on values of $sort and $typep } Firefox does detect the $_REQUEST['typep'] variable but not the $_REQUEST['sort'] one. This works perfectly in Chrome though. When i test the site in Firefox, it doesn't detect the $_REQUEST['sort'] variable and therefore the if condition evaluates to false and the search results don't get sorted.

But I do need to send along the value of the submit button so the server knows which button I clicked, hence the insert call. (Note: insert does not create a child of the element you call it on.) And then after disabling the submit buttons I need to call the containing form of the submit buttons submit call, as IE will not submit after you disable the button. Does that make sense?

    I was trying to install the mcrypt libraries following this tutorial (http://www.glenscott.co.uk/blog/2011/08/29/install-mcrypt-php-extension-on-mac-os-x-lion/), but something must have gone wrong and now when I load a php page on my localhost I see this: query="SELECT DISTINCT ".$field." as a,".$field2." as b FROM ".$tab." I've retrieved the previous versions of the private/etc folder and usr/lib/php folder with time machine but it didn't help. And now if I execute sudo pachectl restart it gives me this error: sudo: no valid sudoers sources found, quitting (while before it worked. PS I'm on a mac with Mountain Lion

    I have a table of items (let's call it WIDGET) that each have their own eight-digit barcode numbers stored in a VARCHAR field (let's call it BARCODE; the table's primary key is in a separate integer field ID). My problem is that some personnel have omitted the leading zeros instead of entering the entire number while others have not. All new data is being entered with all eight digits present, but I would like to update all the existing records (several hundred in all) to eight digits for the sake of consistency. 1 → 00000001 234 → 00000234 5678 → 00005678 00009012 → 00009012 I know FrontBase supports all of SQL-92, but SQL-92 has no function specifically for left-padding strings. I already came up with a solution, but I am posting this question to see if anyone can think of a better way of doing this than I did.

    Is it possible to exclude a column from a select * from table statement with SQL Server? I have a need for this and this is my only option other than parsing a raw SQL string to get out the required field names (I really don't want to do that). Just to be bold. When the query is made I do not have access to the list of fields needed from the table but I do know which field I do not need. This is part of a complex multi-part query. Surely there must be some way even if it's "hackish" such as using table variables or views

    Is it possible to a jquery $.get() to call a servlet and use it to both download a file or update the page without reloading the page? (Or more basically, can I download a file without reloading the page?) For example, I am using a servlet that either returns a file to download of mimetype "application/octet-stream", or returns text to be update in the page of type "text/html".
