    Hi, i need to check the type of a variable in javascript, i know 3 ways to do it: instanceof operator: if(a instanceof Function) typeof operator: if(typeof a=="function" toString method (jQuery uses this): Object.prototype.toString.call(a) == "[object Function]" Which is the most secure way to do type checking beetween these solutions? and why? Please don't tell me that the last solution is better only because jQuery uses that.

    Consider a tuple v = (a,b,c) and a generator function generate(x) which receives an item from the tuple and generates several options for each item. What is the pythonic way of generating a set of all the possible combinations of the result of generate(x) on each item in the tuple? I could do this: v = (a,b,c) for d in generate(v[0]): for e in generate(v[1]): for f in generate(v[2]): print d,e,f but that's just ugly, plus I need a generic solution.

Some initial testing is showing Direct Connect in 64bit dotConnect running 30% slower at times than our original ODP.net/OCI 32 bit solution. Trying to determine if that's normal or if something may be wrong in my testing approach. Thanks!

    Hi All, I have ear deployed in jboss 5.0.1, on windows 2008 which is 64 bit machine and we are using 64jvm, with this combination our VFS temp size increases a lot eventually all our physical hard drive space is used by replicating files. but if we change our JVm from 64 to 32 every thing looks ok. does any one one what is reason ?and possible solution as we want ot use 64bit jvm.     Hello, I have a Makefile.am file right now that looks like this: lib_LIBRARIES = foo.a foo_a_SOURCES = bar.F90 baz.F90 When compiled, bar.F90 gives bar.o. However, bar.F90 depends on several other Fortran files (cat.F90, dog.F90, pig.F90). I want to set up Automake to rebuild bar.o if the source of one of these dependencies change. I've been reading the GNU manuals for automake/autoconf and was unable to find a solution to this. Thanks for reading.

I closed the VS and opened again and also deleted the bin and obj folder of that project, but still the same compile error...

    Hello everyone, I am having trouble with a homework question that I've been working at for quite some time. I don't know exactly why the question is asking and need some clarification on that and also a push in the right direction. Here is the question: (2) Solve this problem using one single subscripted array of counters. The program uses an array of characters defined using the C initialization feature. The program counts the number of each of the alphabetic characters a to z (only lower case characters are counted) and prints a report (in a neat table) of the number of occurrences of each lower case character found. Only print the counts for the letters that occur at least once. That is do not print a count if it is zero. DO NOT use a switch statement in your solution. NOTE: if x is of type char, x-‘a’ is the difference between the ASCII codes for the character in x and the character ‘a’. For example if x holds the character ‘c’ then x-‘a’ has the value 2, while if x holds the character ‘d’, then x-‘a’ has the value 3.   • Recursion with an Array; can't get the right value to return

    Recursive Solution: Not working! Explanation: An integer, time, is passed into the function. It's then used to provide an end to the FOR statement (counter<time). The IF section (time == 0) provides a base case where the recursion should terminate, returning 0. The ELSE section is where the recursive call occurs: total is a private variable defined in the header file, elsewhere. It's initialized to 0 in a constructor, elsewhere. The function calls itself, recursively, adding productsAndSales[time-1][0] to total, again, and again, until the base call. Then the total is returned, and printed out later. Well, that's what I hoped for anyway. What I imagined would happen is that I would add up all the values in this one column of the array and the value would get returned, and printed out. Instead if returns 0. If I set the IF section to "return 1", I noticed that it returns powers of 2, for whatever value time is. EG: Time = 3, it returns 2*2 + 1. If time = 5, it returns 2*2*2*2 + 1. I don't understand why it's not returning the value I'm expecting. int CompanySales::calcTotals( int time ) { cout << setw( 4 ); if ( time == 0 ) { return 0; } else { return total += calcTotals( productsAndSales[ time-1 ][ 0 ]); } } Iterative Solution: Working!     I have a legacy C++ application with a deep graph of #includes. Changes to any header file often cause recompiles of seemingly unrelated source files. The application is built using a Visual Studio 2005 solution (sln) file. Can MSBUILD be invoked in a way that it reports which dependency(ies) are causing a source file to be recompiled? Is there any other tool that might be able to help?

    I have an application that contains a VC++ project (along with C# projects). Previously, (i.e. during the last year or so) when a build has been done, Visual Studio 2005 appears to be targeting the VC++ runtime version 8.0.50727.762. At least, that is what the Assembly.dll.intermediate.manifest file is telling me: <?xml version='1.0' encoding='UTF-8' standalone='yes'?> <assembly xmlns='urn:schemas-microsoft-com:asm.v1' manifestVersion='1.0'> <dependency> <dependentAssembly> <assemblyIdentity type='win32' name='Microsoft.VC80.CRT' version='8.0.50727.762' processorArchitecture='x86' publicKeyToken='1fc8b3b9a1e18e3b' /> </dependentAssembly> </dependency> </assembly> This version number matches the Visual Studio 2005 version number. The application worked fine when deployed to the webserver. The sun was shining, the birds were singing and all was right with the world. Now something has changed. I don't know what - a security patch, an obscure Visual Studio setting or something. Now Visual Studio 2005 seems to be targeting the wrong version of the VC++ runtime: <?xml version='1.0' encoding='UTF-8' standalone='yes'?> <assembly xmlns='urn:schemas-microsoft-com:asm.v1' manifestVersion='1.0'> <dependency> <dependentAssembly> <assemblyIdentity type='win32' name='Microsoft.VC80.CRT' version='8.0.50727.4053' processorArchitecture='x86' publicKeyToken='1fc8b3b9a1e18e3b' /> </dependentAssembly> </dependency> </assembly> When I deploy the application to the webserver, I get the dreaded This application has failed to start because the application configuration is incorrect. Reinstalling the application may fix this problem. (Exception from HRESULT: 0x800736B1) error. This problem occurs even when I recompile previous versions of the application. I can absolutely guarantee that nothing at all has changed in the solution - we zip up the entire contents of the solution as part of the build process and archive it. I have unzipped a number of these to a temp directory, verified that the previous manifest file refers to 8.0.50727.762, recompiled using exactly the same command at the command line and then verified that the new manifest file now refers to 8.0.50727.4053. I am using Microsoft Visual Studio 2005 Version 8.0.50727.762 (SP.050727-7600) and Microsoft Visual C++ 2005 77646-008-0000007-41610. Why would Visual Studio revert to a previous version of the VC++ runtime? How do I specify which version it should use? What is going wrong here?
