• Edge flicker when moving Camera (2D)

  I have a Orthographic camera. I have a fixed landscape texture and a texture for a moveable object. If the object moves to the right the camera will also move with the object. When I also draw an score text that should have fixed position on the screen, that score text position will be update too if the camera's position gets updated so that it looks like that it is fixed on the screen. But if I do that, I have some edge flickering at the text object. I'am using SpriteBatch! Is there another approach to implement a fixed positioned object on the screen?

• LVD1 goes blurry if HDMI (DFP1) gets plugged in

  I was wondering if anyone can explain why all of a sudden on 12.04 when I plug the HDMI in the text on my laptops monitor gets blurry. When I unplug the HDMI everything goes perfect again, text is crisp, plugin the HDMI text goes blurry.   We are currently working on simple school project using Codeigniter where we need login page. It would be very useful if Lastpass could recognise and save logins. We have several accounts with different roles and manual insert of login is pretty slow. So I was wondering what needs to be done and where in files (view, controller?) for Lastpass to work as it does on every website. • Can we grant sudo to an already opened application?

  So, can we grant sudo to an already opened application ? I wish to first open an application as normal user and incase if i need root permissions on it i wish to grant su without restarting the application.. I tried opening an application and then type "sudo appname" in terminal, but that opens a new app window retaining normal user permissions on old app window. Say, i want to check and edit /etc/apt/sources.list . I open a filemanager and go to the path and click on sources.list which opens a text editor with that file in view. If i feel i need to edit that, then i want to grant sudo to that instance of text editor rather than opening a new root text editor and browsing the entire path.

• Symantec Backup exec 2012 for SBS - moving data to offsite drives

  Can anyone advise how best to run the following strategy, or even if it is possible/sensible strategy? I am looking to backup an SBS server using BE2012 where the data is backed up on a weekly full backup, with subsequent daily incrementals till the end of the week, a fresh full backup will then be taken the next weekend, and the cycle repeats for 4 weeks, thus 4 full backups with incrementals. This months worth of backups will then be moved off to an offsite store via USB drive for safe keeping. Is this viable, sensible, or am i just a bit crazy? All ideas are welcome.

• MCrypt Module, Rijndael-256

  An outside company is redoing our company Intranet. During some basic usage I disovered that the "User Edit" screens, with the "Password: *" boxes have the password in plain text, with the text box "type=password" to "hide" the password. The passwords are not store in the database as plain text, they are stored encrypted using "rijndael-256" cypher using the mcrypt module. I know that if I encrypt a password with SHA*, the password is "Unrecoverable" via one-way encryption. Is the same of MCrypt Rijndael-256 encryption? Shouldn't an encrypted password be un-recoverable? Are they blowing smoke up my rear or just using the wrong technology?

• Amazon EC2 hostnames

  I'm currently trying to setup a Tigase cluster on Amazon EC2 instances in a VPC and I'm having troubles getting it to work due to the hostnames of the instances not being "full DNS names". According to the Tigase documentation: Please note the proper DNS configuration is critical for the cluster to work correctly. Make sure the 'hostname' command returns a full DNS name on each cluster node. Can anyone explain what a full DNS name is and how I can set my instances to use one? Currently my instances get a default hostname of the form "ip-10-0-0-20".

• Remote Access to Owncloud Server

  I'm currently trying to setup my own own-cloud server, and I've got it fully installed, configured, and accessible from within my own local network. I cannot figure out how to access it from the outside. So far I've: Successfully setup port-forwarding on my local router. I've done so via 'single port forwarding' and 'port range forwarding' Ports 80, 443, 3306 (Apache-Full and MySQL) Successfully obtained my external IP address. I've also tested this magic number from within the network at #insertIPhere/owncloud and it did work. Successfully setup the server using SQLite Successfully setup the server using MySQL Created the following exceptions in my firewall: Allow In Port 80 (Apache Full) Allow In Port 443 (Apache Full) Allow In Port 3306 (MySQL) Tried connecting from several different remote networks, as to troubleshoot something on their end As far as trying to access it, I'm doing so through Google-Chrome and Mozilla Firefox trying to reach the server through #insertIPhere/owncloud using the above public IP address. So what have I missed, and how do I access my server from outside? Thanks in advance for your help and time, and I apologize in advance for what will probably result in my noobish mistake in networking. I've looked at the official documentation. • Workspace Issues on ubuntu 12.10

  I'm having the following problem with 12.10 Unity running on a Toshiba A505 16" display laptop using an external 24" Samsung LED monitor (resolution 1920 x 1080 (16:9). Also using the default 2 x 2 workspaces: After powering up the laptop, I Click the Workspace Switcher and the 4 images which represent Workspace 1, Workspace 2, Workspace 3, and Workspace 4 are visible but are in a very elongated, stretched out aspect ratio. Also, any desktop icons placed on the left side of the screen don't show up when I go to full view on any of the 4 workspaces. To resolve this issue, I open up the laptop lid until the video display switches from the external Samsung LED monitor to the internal laptop display, which renders the four workspaces perfectly. I then close the laptop lid and now the workspaces display the correct aspect view; both in the workspace switcher thumbnail view an in full view. I can now see the full desktop, including any desktop icons. Is there a way to configure my system so that Workspaces work properly when the laptop is connected to an external monitor without having to open and close my laptop? Thank you.

• Laptop battery charging capacity reduced to 52%

  I have been using Ubuntu 11.04 on DELL Inspiron 14R (N5010) laptop for last three months. Before I switch to ubuntu my laptop battery used to give 2.5 hrs to 3 hrs back-up. But since I have been using ubuntu, it has been reduced to 1hr to 1.5 hrs at max. I tried following commands: $ cat /proc/acpi/battery/BAT0/state which gave result as present: yes capacity state: ok charging state: charged present rate: 1 mA remaining capacity: 4400 mAh present voltage: 12407 mV then I tried $ acpi -b the result was.. • How to revert to Eclipse's old behavior when double-clicking on frames or windows, in Juno?

  I find Eclipse Juno very counter-intuitive. In my workspace, I used to just have the package view at the left, my code on the right, and whenever I'm printing something in the console, that's only when the console frame shows up from the bottom right. When you double click on a particular window, it either only goes fullscreen within Eclipse, or back to its original size together with the size of the other frames. In Juno, however, it seems that frames are put on layers on top of each other. When I print something to the console, the output frame only shows up as a small, useless square to my right. When I double-click, it goes full screen. When I double-click again, it occupies the full right frame, hiding my code. I double-click again and it goes full screen, then it double-clicks before it shares the right frame with my code on top of it. Then when I minimize it, it goes to the side. Any way to go back to the good old days of Eclipse? Thanks.

• group write permission ignored in ubuntu

  Its probably my stupidy here but i'm stuck on this and would appreciate the help. I want my user to have full access to the local apache root folder, and i also want the apache to have full access to the same folder. What i did was create a new group called DevGroup and i added my username and www-data there. also i changed the permissions to 770 to allow full group access but now it wont allow me or the apache any kind of access to the folder. here is what i get with ls drwxrwx--- 12 root DevGroup 4096 Sep 27 17:34 testFolder which seems perfect but when i try as a user to access the file i get this var/www$ ls testFolder/ ls: cannot open directory testFolder/: Permission denied also when i try to access the a page in the folder from browser [Thu Sep 27 17:47:16 2012] [error] [client 127.0.0.1] PHP Fatal error: Unknown: Failed opening required '/var/www/testFolder/foo.php' (include_path='.:/usr/share/php:/usr/share/pear') in Unknown on line 0

• Should I go with Java or Python for my next project, after using PHP for 5 years? [closed]

  I have a full-time PHP job and I've been working with PHP for 5 years. I'm not willing to stay within this technology stack any more. I also worked with Java for 2 year before, so for me it looks more obvious to switch back to Java. However during last 5 years I was thinking about starting my own project, and now I think I have a very good SAAS idea. I'm completely confused what technology should I use for my project. I don't want to do it in PHP, and after reading many articles about rapid prototype development it seems to me that Django is the best option. I will continue to work full time for my current employer because I need to pay my bills and will work on my project in my free time. The concern I have is should I do my project in Java or Python? To be realistic there is always a risk when you are doing your own project/start-up. If I do it in Java in the worst case scenario I believe I will be able to find a full time Java position because I already have some experience in Java + recent experience in my project. With regards to Python it looks like it is not very popular in my area and salaries are much more lower then for Java. On the other hand I have a feeling that if I chose Java it will take me a way longer to finish my project. Guys I'm completely confused and I need your advice. P.S. I have moved to London 2 years ago from another country, local guys are very welcome to share their thoughts about London's job market.

• Can I upgrade my ubuntu version and change to be primary OS after originally installing with Wibu?

  I have recently installed Ubuntu 12.04 using Wubi 12.04 and I now wish to upgrade to a full installation of Ubuntu 14.04, Before attempting to upgrade through the update center I did some research on upgrading from a Wubi installation (alongside windows) to a full installation making Ubuntu primary and only OS and found that it is in fact doable through the update center however it is just highly recommended to perform a full backup before doing so. I have now finished backing up all the data I need to worry about and began the upgrade process through the update center and received the following error: Your graphics hardware may not be fully supported in Ubuntu 14.04. Running the 'unity' desktop environment is not fully supported by your graphics hardware. You will maybe end up in a very slow environment after the upgrade. • emacs starting maximised

  I want a keyboard shortcut to open emacs in a maximised window. I tried emacs --fullscreen, but that is full screen rather than maximised window... That is, the emacs window covers ubuntu menu bars. emacs -fw gets a full width window and emacs -fh gets a full height window, but if you put both options, it only reads the second one. At the moment, I just have another keyboard shortcut for maximising a window. Is there a way to get emacs to start maximised? Ubuntu 9.10, emacs 22, if that makes a difference.

  What are the things I need to do, and with what tools to know what a competitor has working for him/her off-page (free and paid tools -- please suggest both)? First of all, I'm supposing I want to see all of the sites linking in and see what anchor text is used. Is there something that would report on the anchor text linking in, such as counting the keyword phrases used as anchor text? Also, it would be helpful to see where the PR is coming from by PR, such as, listing inbound links by PR of the page linking in. • Less graphics power all the sudden (Intel HD 3000)

  I have a Intel Sandy Bridge i5 with the HD 3000 graphics card. I used to be able to play Urban Terror and Nexuiz comfortably with 85 and 60 frames per seconds until mid/end of October 2012, the former even on a full HD display with that many frames. Now I have around 30 to 45 on the smaller laptop screen and around 20 to 30 on the external monitor. Did something happen to Kubuntu 12.04 so that it has less graphics performance than previously? Update I looked into the system monitor and could not detect anything being at the maximum. The four CPU cores were pretty much bored, the 8 GB RAM were filled with maybe 2 GB. And I ran intel_cpu_top and did not notice anything at its limit. See the output. after Kernel bisecting I now did a kernel bisect and tried 3.2.0-23, 3.2.0-27, 3.2.0-29 and 3.2.0-30 and all had full graphics power. Interestingly, I then had full power when I just booted back into the regular 3.2.0-32 kernel. This does not make sense to me …

• Which app can I use for easily annotating pictures/screenshots?

  Often I need to annotate (draw some arrows, lines, basic shapes like squares, ellipses etc and enter some text) on top of pictures (JPG, PNG images) and screenshots (again png images). I would also need to be able to crop, resize etc. I tried the Gimp but I could only enter text and perform all image transformations but couldn't find a way to draw boxes etc. I finally settled to Openoffice.org draw, but I know that isn't what I want, because in oodraw I need to insert my pic into a drawing and resize it (or the drawing) to fit and then go about making changes and finally export to png... Is there any image editor that allows adding shapes and text to jpg & png files and save the modified file in its place? If the tool can also have template collections (like dia does) for shapes that is an added bonus.

• How do I run a search query based on recipient in PowerShell for Exchange 2010?

  I've tried to run the following commands but neither work and I'm not sure how I should setup the query. I tried to find a full list of available search strings but couldn't locate one online or using help. I did find the list here (http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/bb232132.aspx#AQS) but it doesn't include the search queries I am looking for (based on the fact that it doesn't even list "Received:" which I know is an option because I use it all the time.
