  • Length of text that can just fit into one screen without scrolling

    I find some iphone book apps have such feature: One screen one page of text without scrolling. The text can just fit into the whole screen with linebreaks and indentations. I'm curious of how to implement this. How could I decide the length of text that just fit into the screen. And also, given the whole text, I can calculate out the number of pages. If this is not possible to be done on iPhone(runtime?), then is it possible to process the text before storing it in app? I mean I calculate how many pages I need(how to split the raw text), probably how many lines per page.

  • Submit multiple forms as one

    I have two forms on the page. To the user it looks like 1 form, and I actually wish it was one form. But the way I'm trying to reuse code and include things, I can't avoid two forms in the source code... trying to act as one. I don't want to do ajax submit, I want a normal post submit, my form handler has redirects in it. How can I submit both of these, and get values that make sense on the server side. something like $_POST['form1]['whatever'] $_POST['form2]['thing'] Maybe take all the inputs from form 2, rename all of them with a prefix, and append them to form 1? I can't find a non-messy way of doing this. I don't think I need code, just a plan. Least messy idea wins.

    Say you had the following two constructors: - (id)initWithTitle:(NSString *)title; - (id)initWithTitle:(NSString *)title page:(NSString *)page; The second constructor is no different from the first, except that it sets up the member variable "page". Since it basically has to do the same thing, is there a way to call the first one from the second one to reduce code duplication, or do you have to set up a third method to do the common tasks?     I'm trying to make like a skype-instant messager, my idea for it is to have one server which handles multiple connections for the clients. What I now have is a friend list etc, but now I want to create Threads both for server and client to handle a conversation. The problem is that I need multiple connections between a server and one client for every conversation(I think). but i dont think it's possible. Does someone have another way for doing this or maybe a way to make multiple connections between the server and a client?     I'm not sure if this is the site for this question or not [if so put in the comment or vote to move it] How can I copy only the data from one database to another within the same server on SQL Server 2005? The two databases have the same schema but not the same data. I'm trying to get the data from one database to another. I am not able to restore from a snapshot [that screws over the security settings on the database]. I'm not able to use the import data wizard, because that is trying to copy over schema data as well.

    I have been using ubuntu 11.10 for 1 year,today it made me surprised. When I open google chrome it just closes itself. Firstly i thought that it is just for chrome and tried Firefox : It also closes itself and one thing more : I tried desktop programs such as image viewer it also closes itself.I restarted it but there is no changing.What can do this ? is it virus or another system problem ?   • Why would image thumbnails not be showing in all search engines in all browsers?

    For over a week now, when I search for a word at Google, it correctly gives me some preview image thumbnails: But when I click on "images", it doesn't show me any thumbnails: The same thing happens at Bing.com, when I search Bing itself it gives me some thumbnails on the general search result page: But when I click on "images", it doesn't show me any thumbnails: The same thing happens at Yahoo: If I click on one of the broken thumbnails, it shows me the picture fine: Thumbnails at youtube also work fine: It seems each search engine is hanging on different URLs as shown above: t1.gstatic.com ts3.mm.bing.net thm-a02.yimg.com so it doesn't seem to be the problem of one specific URL not sending thumbnails, it is just a problem with search engine image thumbnails in general. Also, this happens in every browser I try: Explorer, Firefox, Chrome. What could be the problem? Is it my computer, some setting somewhere, my router, my Internet provider (T-Online, Germany)? Has anyone ever had this problem and solved it?

    I have to save links to web pages into a google drive document. What I want is to copy simple webpage snippet, similar to the one this G+ extension button does, to clipboard. One picture and page title as a link. I was looking for many days now and I still couldn't find anything which does the same thing. In the end the thing I came up with is to hit the G+ button and copy contents of the popup. I am wondering if anybody knows how can this be done right? Thanks in advance, BR, Yuriy

  • Number Tabs in Chrome or Firefox

    I like to use the Ctrl or Alt + Number shorcut to jump quickly to a specific tab. Problem is: When you have a lot of tabs open it is hard to look at them and quickly know which one is tab number 7. Is there a way (extension possibly) to show a tab's number in its title? This way each tab would have a number added to its title right beside the favicon. This way you could immediately tell which number you need to press to jump to a specific tab. I use both Chromium and Firefox, so I'm accepting answers for either one (though I'd prefer both =) ).

  • Flash stream makes my internet slow and cpu rush

    When I try to watch a live Flash stream, my CPU usage goes up to 75% and my Internet speed goes down. If I run a test before the video-stream, my speed is ~40/10Mbps and during the stream it drops to 0.1-0.5Mbps. The stream is laggy and I can only watch one to two seconds at a time, start/stop/start/stop. I have cleared my history, cache, cookies, temp files, and so on. I have searched for malware and took care of that. I have updated my drivers, reinstalled Flash and everything else I can think of, but it remains slow. I had this problem before and it just started working normally from one day to another. Could it be a hardware problem?

    Hi. I've run into a strange problem in the GMap module for Drupal. When I display a map inside a node using a GMap macro, everything is displayed correctly (according to what I specify in the macro or leave at default), save for map markers. I'm trying to specify a map marker, but it refuses to be displayed. My macro is the following: [gmap zoom=17 |center=53.77420697757659,20.474138259887695 |markers=big blue::53.77420697757659,20.474138259887695] I was unable to find any help on Drupal forums, both the official one and one local to my country. For completeness' sake, I do not wish to use a GMap view, just add a macro in a regular node. Hope you can help me find a solution. Thanks in advance for your replies...

    Some webpages implement Disqus and also have the rather bad policy of adding auto refresh to the page. This result in for example one writing a long answer in a debate and then a refresh comes along – and everything is gone. Is the comments, written, but not posted, cached somewhere? Is it possible to retrieve? I have experienced this on various pages. In the current case the debate page was reloaded and a rather lengthy post with a lot of references and long thought out sentences vanished. This page closes the debate during night time, and do a auto refresh of the page when one pass midnight – as such I'm not able to retrieve the debate for another 8 hours. Other pages implement for example an auto refresh after 20 minutes. Linux, Google Chrome.

  • The letter 'W' gets rendered oddly

    It seems that with this particular font (it's one of the Ubuntu fonts; I can't tell which one exactly because Chrome's debugger doesn't tell me which font-family won the CSS battle) the letter 'W' (both cases), at the default zoom level and typically with smaller sizes, will render very oddly: (open the image in a new tab) The right-hand side of the letter is totally wrong. Changing the zoom levels will mitigate (but not eliminate) the issue. Does anyone know how to fix this? It doesn't happen on Firefox or IE so I assume it's not an issue with the font itself.

    Hi, I have a database where I store two different kinds of data. One table is for favorite routes, the other stores the retrieved routes from a server. I can retrieve the routes etc just fine. But after retrieving the first Route, pressing back or HOME, and then retrieving another route, the routes table is filled with all the old routes plus the new ones. So my question: how do I delete ONLY the routes table and not the whole database because I don't want to delete the added favorites....?! I found the following function in the android docs: public int delete (String table, String whereClause, String[] whereArgs) and I tried to implement it, but I must pass a SQLiteDataBase as an argument. But how? I implemented: public void deleteTableRoutes(SQLiteDataBase db){ db.delete("routes", null, null); } But I want to call this function from a different class where I have no reference to the database.. so what do I have to pass as an argument? Or how do I get a reference to my database? I build my database upon the code example of the NotePadExample from the dev docs. How to solve this problem? thanks

Right now, after each submission it creates 3 records for album table and 3 records for images. I need it to be one record for album and 3 for images, plus to link images to the album.     Hi, I've got a Flex website and I'm not sure how to make a sitemap for it. For a standard HTML page, sitemaps are straight forward. As Flex sites use a "pageless" architecture, I'm not sure what I should do. If anyone has any suggestions, please let me know. UPDATE: As I understand it, Google doesn't look at anything after the # in a URL. So in a deeplinked Flex site, Google wouldn't see the second page-- where it reads view=12 in the sample sitemap below. Or does Google handle sitemaps differently?
