• T-SQL Re-Assigning Order Numbering

  Say I have a table with a field called "ordernum" that denotes the order of a given set of rows. Now imagine that I delete one of these rows. What type of query would work best for re-assigning the order numbers so that they remain sequential? Here's an example: id group_id name ordernum active --------------------------------------------------- 0_____0______'Name1'___5__true 1_____0______'Name2'___4__true 2_____0______'Name3'___3__true 3_____1______'Name4'___2__true 4_____1______'Name5'__1__true 5_____1______'Name6'__NULL___false Now if I deleted the column with id='4' how would I reset the values in the 'ordernum' field for that specific group? Is this even possible? Or if I added a new row. (The first time the rows are created they are sorted by date, but then the user has the option to set the order himself.) In my table design I have a column 'active' boolean. If 'active' is set to false, then 'ordernum' is set to NULL. Otherwise it should be given an order number.

• Select from multiple tables, remove duplicates

  I have two tables in a SQLite DB, and both have the following fields: idnumber, firstname, middlename, lastname, email, login One table has all of these populated, the other doesn't have the idnumber, or middle name populated. I'd LIKE to be able to do something like: select idnumber, firstname, middlename, lastname, email, login from users1,users2 group by login; But I get an "ambiguous" error. Doing something like: select idnumber, firstname, middlename, lastname, email, login from users1 union select idnumber, firstname, middlename, lastname, email, login from users2; LOOKS like it works, but I see duplicates. my understanding is that union shouldn't allow duplicates, but maybe they're not real duplicates since the second user table doesn't have all the fields populated (e.g. "20, bob, alan, smith, [email protected], bob" is not the same as "NULL, bob, NULL, smith, [email protected], bob"). Any ideas? What am I missing? All I want to do is dedupe based on "login". Thanks!

• Assert parameters in a table-valued UDF

  Is there a way to create "asserts" on the parameters of a table-valued UDF. I'd like to use a table-valued UDF for performance reasons, however I know that certain parameter combinations (like start and end dates that are more than a month apart) will cause performance issues on the server for all users. End users query the database via Excel using UDFs. UDFs (and table-valued UDFs in particular) are useful when the data is too large for Excel. Users write simple SQL queries that categorizes the data into groups to reduce the number of rows. For example, the user may be interested in weekly aggregates rather than hourly ones. Users write a group by SELECT statement to reduce the rows by 24x7=168 times. I know I can write RAISERROR statements in multistatement UDFs, but table-valued UDFs are integrated in the query optimizer so these queries are more efficient with table-valued UDFs. So, can I define assertions on the parameters passed to a table-valued UDF?

• Hide segment in URL but give code access to hidden segment

  I'm using Structure and have a "Supernav" page with multiple children that will make up the supernav for the site. I thought this would be a nice way to have all pages on the site accessible to the client via one location: the Structure UI. If you visit any of the child pages in the "supernav" group the URL comes out like this: http://website.com/supernav/prospective-students I'd love to be able to remove the supernav segment of those URLs so that it ends up being: http://website.com/prospective-students I don't even want the supernav segment to appear in the status bar when you hover over these links on the page. Is this possible? With CodeIgniter this comes down to a simple routing rule, but I don't know if that's an option with EE. Appreciate any help I can get!

• Utilise Surv object in ggplot or lattice

  Anyone know how to take advantage of ggplot or lattice in doing survival analysis? It would be nice to do trellis/facet like survival graphs. So in the end I played around and sort of found a solution for a kaplan meier plot. Apologize for the messy code in taking the list elements into a dataframe, but I couldnt figure out another way. Note: It only works with two levels of stratum. • Why does my mail get marked as spam?

  I Have the server "afspraakmanager.be". It matches everything not to be a spam server.(it isn't by the way): it has reverse dns, spf,dkim,... . But hotmail marks it as spam. • How to find NSOutlineView row index when using NSTreeController

  I'm using an NSTreeController to manage nodes for an NSOutlineView. This seems logical: NSInteger row = [entityCollectionOutlineView rowForItem:newNode]; [entityCollectionOutlineView editColumn:0 row:row withEvent:nil select:YES]; However, row is always -1 indicating the object isn't found. Poking around reveals that the tree controller is not actually putting my objects directly in the tree, but is wrapping them in a node object of its own. Anyone have insight into how I would go about getting a row index relative to the outline view, so I can do this (without, hopefully, enumerating everything in the outline view and figuring out the mapping back to my node?)

• SQL Server 2005 RIGHT OUTER JOIN not working

  I'm looking up access logs for specific courses. I need to show all the courses even if they don't exist in the logs table. Hence the outer join.... but after trying (presumably) all of the variations of LEFT OUTER, RIGHT OUTER, INNER and placement of the tables within the SQL code, I couldn't get my result.   Hey, I'm trying to seek through a RandomAccessFile, and as part of an algorithm I have to read a line, and then seek backwards from the end of the line E.g String line = raf.readLine(); raf.seek (raf.getFilePointer() - line.length() + m.start() + m.group().length()); //m is a Matcher for regular expressions I've been getting loads of off-by-one errors and couldn't figure out why. I just discovered it's because some files I'm reading from have UNIX-style linefeeds, \r\n, and some have just windows-style \n. Is there an easy to have the RandomAccessFile treat all linefeeds as windows-style linefeeds?

• Can't connect to shared folders anymore?

  My home server is running Windows Server 2008 R2. I've had it running for almost a year now without any issues with shared folders. This past week I had an issue with my modem which required it to be power cycled and with that I power cycled my router. After that I haven't been able to connect to my shared network folders. I have no idea why that would even cause an issue as I've power cycled my networking equipment in the past without issues and none of my settings appear to have been lost. I am mapping these drives on my Windows 7 Ultimate machine using "Map Network Drive", from there I enter \\SERVER\Storage as I'm trying to connect to my shared folder named Storage. I receive the following error every time I try mapping the drive: Windows cannot access \\Server\Storage Check the spelling of the name. Otherwise there might be a problem with your network. To try to identify and resolve network problems, click Diagnose. Details: Error code: 0x80070035 The network path was not found. When I click Diagnose I get the following: Problems found file and print sharing resource (SERVER) is online but isn't responding to connection attempts. The remote computer isn't responding to connection on port 445, possibly due to firewall or security policy settings, or because it might be temporarily unavailable. Windows couldn't find any problems with the firewall on your computer. I've tried this from multiple computers with the same issue too. To resolve the problems so far I've tried: Disabling the firewall on SERVER Reinstalling File Services Modifying NetBT\Parameters registry values Adding a custom inbound rule for port 445 Adding port forwarding on my router for port 445 Recreating the shared folders Checking and rechecking the shared folder permissions. Resetting my user account password on the server used to access the shared folder. I'm pulling my hair out with this problem mainly because it came out of nowhere. It was working fine the night before and the next day it just stopped working. Any ideas of what I could try next are much appreciated. It should also be noted that this server is used as a web server too and that functionality still works correctly.

• Changing text size on a ggplot bump plot

  Hi, I'm fairly new to ggplot. I have made a bumpplot using code posted below. I got the code from someones blog - i've lost the link.... I want to be able to increase the size of the lables (here letters which care very small on the left and right of the plot) without affecting the width of the lines (this will only really make sense after you have run the code) I have tried changing the size paramater but that always alter the line width as well. Any suggestion appreciated. • In search of opinions on web based version control systems

  Hi. Researching various open source, web-based document management/version control systems. I've checked google/questions here, etc... I'm looking for a lightweight web-based (apache) document mgmt/version control app that runs on top of SVN. I need to have the ability to: have multiple users checkin/checkout have a workflow (when userA checks the file in, and finishes the app passes it to the next person, etc... the app needs to allow me to have a structure where the files can be moved as a group. the files will be changed on a monthly basis app needs to have a access/premission control system. some people can see certain files, and perform certain actions on the files I imagine that I'm going to have 40-50 people dealing with the different files. I imagine that I'm going to have 2000-3000 files that have to be massaged. I'd prefer that the app be php based if possible, as opposed to a straight java app. Thanks

  Hi I have a windows XP machine that is used to print labels from a Zebra label printer. It is connected a member of the domain. I am getting reports that when people try to use the computer it will sometimes be frozen to the point where they have to physically shut the machine down and boot to get it responding. (this happens about once a day). • GUI-Library for microcontroller

  I want to create a GUI driven application for a micro-controller (Atmel XMEGA) that is connected to a 128x64 dots graphics LCD (EA DOGL128-6) and 4 buttons for navigation. Controlling the display itself (e.g. drawing pixels and characters) is no problem but in order to prevent me from reinventing the wheel I was googling for a GUI-Library/-Toolkit that is written in c, includes its source code, will run on a 32 MHz 8-bit micro-controller and provides at least the following controls: panel (to group elements) menu (scrollable) icon label button line-graph (optional) But I didn't find any thing useful. Does anyone know (or better uses) such a library(preferably for free)?

• Put text input inside label for radio button?

  I'm trying to make a radio group specifying a bunch of options, and an extra option "other" with a text input to specify. The code for this particular radio button I'm using is <input type='radio' name='RadioInput' value='Other' id='RadioInput_Other' /> <label for='RadioInput_Other'>Ohter: <input type='text' name='RadioInput_Other_Value' id='RadioInput_Other_Value' value='' /> </label> The idea is that if you give focus to the text input, the radio button corresponding to it is selected. The code above almost does this (since the text input is inside the label). However, it also shifts focus to the radio button (which is annoying, since whatever you type next is lost). Is there any way to prevent this using XHTML1.0 / CSS2? Preferably without using javascript.

Basically allowing me to automatically check a user can do a certain thing, and then disabling or enabling menu items etc I am not really looking for asp.net security ... as i need to use it in my own service layer and clients both WEB and WPF will use it. I was hoping for something that allows me to create new roles and groups against users and then check what type of permissions a user has or a group has Any help really appreciated.. • MS Access Force report footer to bottom of page

  I am trying to make a report for a proposal. I would like to keep a professional look and always force the terms section to the bottom of the page. I could use the page footer but I only want the terms to show on the last page. My idea is somehow with VBA to set the height of a dummy group such that it forces the report footer to the bottom. The problem is that you can't explicitly set the height of a section. Anyone else out there with another idea (That works)? :-) Thanks, Jeff

The drupal site is using imagecache and it requires either private files or clean urls. The issue I am having with clean urls is that requests to files are being rewritten into index.php as well.
