    What type of performance hit can I expect if I include a huge PHP array? For example, lets say I have a 1GB PHP array in "data.php" that looks like $data = array( //1GB worth of data ) If I include that huge "data.php" file on "header.php", how will it affect the performance of "header.php" when it executes?     I there a simple way when using ASP.NET 4.0 routing with Web Forms to produce a route that will act as some kind of wildcard? It seems to me that within WebForms, you have to specify a route for every page - I am looking for some kind of generic route that can be used where nothing specific is required, perhaps mapping directly from path to path so... http://somedomain.com/folder1/folder2/page would possibly map to folder1/folder2/page.aspx Any suggestions?   • Page_PreRender fires twice on first load in session

    I have an issue when I access the application, I notice that Page_PreRender is fired twice. This only happens the first time in a new session. It does not happen if I refresh the page, or on postbacks. I use .NET framework 3.5 and the built in ajax functionality. I think the problem is not related to img tag with empty src attribute as I have seen other posts has mentioned, because I see this in both FireFox and IE. The posts I saw about this stated that this was not a problem in IE. I have also searched and found no img tags with empty src in the generated page source, so it should not be this. I have also made a simple test page where I have included some of the functionality, and this does not happen. Here I have also tried to reproduce the empty src bug by including <img src="" /> on the page, but this does not trigger this problem. Have anyone any suggestions on what happens? Note: It is the entire page cycle that is firing twice, not just render.

    Hi, i'm having this issue, in ASP.NET MVC 2 where I'm adding a drop down list on the master page and filling it with data from an abstract master controller. When an option is selected an submit button clicked, it reroutes you to a new page. so lets say the page lives on http://domain.com/landingPage i'm on: http://domain.com/landingPage i select option and submit takes me to http://domain.com/landingPage/Projects/FramedPage i select again and now the post tries to go to: http://domain.com/landingPage/Projects/landingPage/Projects/FramedPage because of the action="" i have set on the form tag. Any ideas on how to go about this?     I need to open window pop-up from Silverlight Out-of-Browser application. I've added parameter <param name="enablehtmlaccess" value="true" /> in Index.html, but executing this from code behind: HtmlPage.Window.Navigate(new Uri(myUrl), "_blank", myFeatures); still returns error: Silverlight OOB Error: The DOM/scripting bridge is disabled. I've read about this post, does it mean that I can't open pop-up from OOB? Why I need to do this, because actually I've shown the HTML page in OOB Silverlight by WebBrowser control within ChildWindow but when I click an anchor in HTML page, which linked to _blank page, it jumps to my default browser. It doesn't meet the requirement, except launch that HTML index page also in default browser at the first time, triggered from button control in OOB Silverlight. Is that possible? Please advice, thanks.

  • Scala Lift - Robust method to protect files from hotlinking

    I'm attempting to implement a way to stop hotlinking and/or un-authorised access to resources within my app. The method I'm trying to add is something I've used before in PHP apps. Basically a session is set when the page is first called. The images are added to the page via the image tag with the session value as a parameter: <img src="/files/image/[handle]?session=12345" /> When the image is requested the script checks to see if the session is set and matches the provided value. If the condition is not met the serving page returns null. Right at the end to the code I unset the session so further requests from outside the scope of the page will return null. What would be the best implementation of this method within the lift framework? Thanks in advance for any help, much appreciated :)

    My host requires me to use a different domain for SSL secured access (shared SSL), so I need to transition the user session between two domains. One part of the page lives at http://example.com, while the SSL'd part is at https://example.hosting.com. As such I can't set a domain-spanning cookie. What I'm trying to do is to transition the session id over and re-set the cookie like this: http://example.com/normal/page, user clicks link to secure area and goes to: http://example.com/secure/page, which causes a redirect to: https://example.hosting.com/secure/page?sess=ikub..., which resurrects the session and sets a new cookie valid for the domain, then redirects to: https://example.hosting.com/secure/page This works up to the point where the session should be resurrected. I'm doing: function beforeFilter() { ... $this->Session->id($_GET['sess']); $this->Session->activate(); ... } As far as I can tell this should start the session with the given ID. It actually generates a new session ID though and this session is empty, the data is not restored. This is on CakePHP 1.2.4. Do I need to do something else, or is there a better way to do what I'm trying to do?

    Hi, My "Privacy Policy" page is seen more important by Google than other really more important pages on my website. I'm currently creating a script to generate a sitemap, should I bother with the priority? How do you effectively assign priorities to pages? I consider one of my page important but the page have less content than another one less important to my eyes... but maybe Google bot will see it the other way around. If my degree of "importantness" differs from the one of Google, will I get penalized on the ranking for a particular page? Thank you for sharing your black art with us :P

  • Static variables and long running thread on IIS 7.5

    Hello people. Help me solve next problem. I have ASP .NET MVC2 application. I run it on IIS 7.5. In one page user clicks button and handler for this button sends request to server (jquery.ajax). At server action in controller starts new thread (it makes long time import): var thread = new Thread(RefreshCitiesInDatabase); thread.Start(); State of import is available in static variable. New thread changes value of variable in the begin of work. User can check state of import too with the help of this variable, which is used in view. And user sees import's state. When I start this function few minutes everything is okey. On page I see right state of import, quantity of imported records is changed, I see changes in logs. But after few minutes begin troubles. When I refresh page with import state sometimes I see that import is okey but sometimes I see page with default values about import (like application is just started), but after that again I can see page with normal import's state. I tried to attach Visual Studio to IIS process and debug application. But when request comes to controller sometimes static variables have right values and sometimes they have default values (static int has 0, static string has "" etc.). Tell me what I do wrong.     I have an .aspx page that can perform a number of functions. The type of function is determined at run-time depending on which button the user clicks. This makes makes a web-service call to an .asmx method. The web-service call returns html and javascript which then become part of the original page. This new content has javascript events attached to button clicks, data validation etc. In turn these events then call their own web-service methods in another .asmx file. The main page does not know about these other .asmx files when the page loads. So, is there any way of dynamically loading these .asmx files on demand?

    Hello All! I'm embarking on a major project, but am stuck on a tiny issue at the very start. I'll try to be as concise as possible. I have a PHP script that will be echoing into the footer of the page (the last stuff before a bunch of s containing visible buttons and s containing hidden dialog boxes. The plan is to have the buttons float in the upper-right corner of corresponding s in the main content area of the page. i.e. - button-1 echoed into the footer will float in the corner of content-box-1, and will be tied to the hidden 'dialog-1'. I'll be using jQuery and jQuery UI Dialog throughout the page(s). I'm not sure if that's particularly relevant to this question, but thought it worth mentioning just in case. So my question, put simply, is how do I echo a Button 1 into the footer with PHP, but have it float in the upper-right corner (with maybe 5px margin) of Content 1 is full of content? A picture says a thousand words: As shown above, I want the little blue gear button things in the corner of content pieces, locked and loaded with hidden s containing dialog boxes. Again, the catch is that all buttons and hidden divs will be the very last items echoed into the page footer. I've found plenty of info on how to float divs on top of divs, but all the examples I saw showed the s in close proximity to each other in the page source; not with a hundred lines of source code between the two s I'm not sure if the solution is pure CSS, pure jQuery/jQueryUI or a combination of the two. Any advice will be much appreciated. Thanks!

    I wish to improve my code and file structure in larger Win32 projects with plenty of windows and controls. Currently, I tend to have one header and one source file for the entire implementation of a window or dialog. This works fine for small projects, but now it has come to the point where these implementations are starting to reach 1000-2000 lines, which is tedious to browse. I have tried to find good open source examples of structuring Win32 code, but I just get more confused since there are hundreds of files, and within each of these files that seem GUI related, the Win32 GUI code seems so far encapsulated away. And when I finally find a CreateWindowEx statement, the window proc is nowhere to be found. Any advice on how to structure all the code while remaining sane would be greatly appreciated. Thanks! I don't wish to use any libraries or frameworks as I find the Win32 API interesting and valuable for learning. Any insight into how you structure your own GUI code could perhaps serve as inspiration.

  • Cache for everybody except staff members.

    I have a django site where I want to stick an "admin bar" along the top of every non-admin page for staff members. It would contain useful things like page editing tools, etc. The problem comes from me using the @cache_page decorator on lots of pages. If a normal user hits a page, the cached version comes up without the admin bar (even for admin users) and if an admin hits the page first, normal users see the admin bar. I could tediously step through the templates, adding regional cache blocks but there are a lot of templates, and life is altogether too short. Ideally, there would be a way of telling the caching to ignore cache get/set requests from admin users... But I don't know how to best implement that. How would you tackle this problem?

    I created a web application in which one .aspx page calls an AJAX-enabled WCF service (created with Visual Studio 2008 Add New Item - AJAX-enabled WCF Service). when I test the application in Visual Studio, it works and the page can call the service from Javascript but when I "publish" (code precompilation using Visual Studio) it to the local IIS Server, I get an error : "service ThunServ is undefined" in my .html page.
