• ESX3.5 Cluster & MD3000i -- Both servers see iSCSI Targets, Only one server can use partition.

  Alright. First and foremost, Warning. This is a bigger-then-normal question. I like to be thorough and try to eliminate all possible "easymode" answers, as well as give everyone a feel of what i've tried. I've included several images of our setup and the problem it is having.. TLDR Version: So I've followed the guides located here: ESX Deployment Guide V1 this is the guide Dell has sent me to setup two ESX3.5 servers mounting a Dell MD3000i. It doesn't work. Both servers can't use the same storage partition on the MD3000. Both servers see it, but only one server can actually use it. (that server being whatever server created the partition on the target.) Both ESX servers are members of the Host Group. Full Version I have 2 ESX3.5 Servers (10.0.7.102, also called EPI2, and 10.0.7.103, also called EPI3.) connected to a iSCSI SAN Device (Dell MD3000i). Both ESX servers can "scan" the SAN and see the LUNS. Part One: MD3000i Storage On the MD3000i, Both servers are in my host group. I have two partitions, VM1 and VM2, both 1.6TB (vmware doesn't like anything past 2tb.) And you can even see that the ESX servers are targetting the MD3000 just fine. Part Two: The ESX Servers Figure 1. So as you can see above, Both ESX Servers (10.0.7.102 and 10.0.7.103) are able to see and scan the MD3000i SAN. Figure 2. Above is the storage both servers see. I created the storage partition on EPI2 (102). I then Extended the partition to include the second LUN for a grand total of 3.27 TB of storage. When i "rescan" on 103 (the server not mounting the partition), I get the below log in log/messages. Mar 11 10:41:18 epi3 kernel: scsi singledevice 1 0 0 0 Things I've Tried: Removing iSCSI targets from only 103, disabling iSCSI, rebooting, enabled iSCSI, re-adding targets, rescan. Same result. Removing partition on 102, Formatted partition on 103 instead. Same result, except flipped. 103 can use storage, 102 can not. Starting Over. Removing all iSCSI Targets on both ESX Boxes, disabling iSCSI, turning off the firewall for iSCSI, rebooting ESX. Then on the MD3000, Removed the Host Group, Removed the Host-to-Virtual Mappings, Restarted the SAN. Followed the Documentation again, same result. Both servers see the storage, but only one server can use it. Disabling and Re-enabling VMware DRS and HA. Same result. Flat-out turning off VMware DRS and HA, and doing the "start over" step to see if maybe that borked it. Same Result. I'm kinda loosing my mind here, Everything i read online says "just partition it and if the ESX boxes can see the targets, it just works".... well crap. Any ideas, any other things to try? Can anyone atleast point me in the right direction? I'm really tired of working from 1am til 4am (our maintenance hours)

During that time, I worked 40 hours per week during the summer and averaged 20 hours per week during the school year. I have since been hired full-time and I have been with the company a little over 3 years now. How many years of work experience do I have? Background info: There is a significant income disparity between someone with 1 year of experience vs 3 years (as per salary.com). I have job responsibilities equivalent to that of someone who has been at my company for about 5 years. I am trying to determine what I should expect in terms of income, raises, etc.

  Hi there, I have been taking a look at mvvm light toolkit, i must admit i haven't got a lot of experience with it but i live what i see.. I did use the mvvm toolkit (microsoft) but currently use vs 2010 and no templates are available as yet. I was looking for some insight into mvvm light toolkit... Is it always maintained ? i..e its not going to be gone tomorrow... Or shoudl i be looking elsewhere?? I would really appreciate any feedback... I also saw some info on how it is blendable which the mvvm toolkit (microsoft) didn't seem to have.. Prism also seems to be also a likely candidate but from what i understand its not a MVVM framework / toolkit i would be using it with wpf Any help really appreciated Thank you

  Hey folks, I've got a client<=server app I'm building for Mac OS X, using Objective-c/Cocoa and xCode. I've created a different project for both the apps I have, and I'm wondering the best way to share classes between them. There are several classes I've made that would be useful to both. This far I've been copying them around, but I feel like this isn't the best solution. How do I share classes effectively? Should I redo it as 1 project and just have two build targets? I am writing a program in Java using geogoogle (Google Geocoder Java API) http://geo-google.sourceforge.net/ I need from two specific points to get the walking directions between these points and also these info to be exported in a KML file. Do you know how can I do it from Java? Is there an API that I can use? Perhaps making a call from the java program to google and handle the result - but how can it be done? Thanks in advance. PS.   I'm trying to run SQuirreL SQL. I've downloaded it and installed it, but when I try to run it I get this error message: Java Virtual Machine Launcher. Could not find the main class. Program will exit. I get the gist of this, but I have not idea how to fix it. Any help? more info: I'm on Windows XP pro. I have java 1.6 installed, and other apps are running OK. The install ran OK. I believe I've followed the installation instructions correctly. To run it, I'm invoking the squirrel-sql.bat file. • Objective-C initial values of created C-array

  I create an array, similar to classic C (not NSArray or one of it's children) - something like BOOL i[5];. And I want to make all its values to be equal to NO. First of all, I didn't found any information about initial values of such arrays (I know that in classic C they will be undefined, but don't know exactly about Objective-C. I found info about classes and its inner data [after allocation, without initialization], but not about simple data types). And the second, if I should set array values manually - should I use memset(...); or something different? To prevent possible questions... I want to use this construction as array of temporary boolean flags and don't think that it is proved to use something like NSArray here.

• How to burn an Audio CD programmatically in Mac OS X

  All the info I can find about burning cd's is for Windows, or about full programs to burn cd's. I would however like to be able to burn an Audio CD directly from within my program. I don't mind using Cocoa or Carbon, or if there are no API's available to do this directly, using a command-line program that can use a wav/aiff file as input would be a possibility too if it can be distributed with my application. Because it will be used to burn dj mixes to cd, it would also be great if it is possible to create different tracks without a gap between them.

  Let's say I have this code: int function(bool b) { // execution path 1 int ret = 0; if(b) { // execution path 2 ret = 55; } else { // execution path 3 ret = 120; } return ret; } I need some sort of a mechanism to make sure that the code has gone in any possible path, i.e execution paths 1, 2 & 3 in the code above. I thought about having a global function, vector and a macro. This macro would simply call that function, passing as parameters the source file name and the line of code, and that function would mark that as "checked", by inserting to the vector the info that the macro passed. The problem is that I will not see anything about paths that did not "check". Any idea how do I do this? How to "register" a line of code at compile-time, so in run-time I can see that it didn't "check" yet? I hope I'm clear.

Do you have any recommendations on which option to use to authenticate against the LDAP: 1. simple LDAP bind using the logged in user's credentials 2. simple LDAP bind using a service account created for the application's use 3. LDAP proxy user authentication - I dont have enough info about this, so i'd be grateful if someone could explain it's benefit, recommended use and sample .net code to do the query.

  I get the following error in Chrome every time I try to run my script on a Linux server: Error 324 (net::ERR_EMPTY_RESPONSE): Unknown error. In Firefox it just shows a blank white page. Whenever I run it on my local test server (IIS on Windows 7) it runs exactly the way it should with no errors. • How to scroll to the new added item in a ListView

  Hi all My application show a ListView with a button which allow user to add an element. When the user clicks on this button, another Activity is started to allow user to populate the new element. When the add is finished, we return to the previous Activity with the ListView and I would like to scroll to the new element. Note that this element is not necessarily at the end of the ListView because there is an "order by" when I retrieve the datas from the database. I know I need the cursor position of the new element to make the ListView scrool to it, but the only info I have about this element is its id, so how to convert this id to cursor position ? Do I have to loop on the cursor to find the position ? Thanks in advance

• PyML 0.7.2 - How to prevent accuracy from dropping after storing/loading a classifier?

  This is a followup from "Save PyML.classifiers.multi.OneAgainstRest(SVM()) object?". The solution to that question was close, but not quite right, (the SparseDataSet is broken, so attempting to save/load with that dataset container type will fail, no matter what. Also, PyML is inconsistent in terms of whether labels should be numbers or strings... it turns out that the oneAgainstRest function is actually not good enough, because the labels need to be strings and simultaneously convertible to floats, because there are places where it is assumed to be a string and elsewhere converted to float) and so after a great deal of hacking and such I was finally able to figure out a way to save and load my multi-class classifier without it blowing up with an error.... however, although it is no longer giving me an error message, it is still not quite right as the accuracy of the classifier drops significantly when it is saved and then reloaded (so I'm still missing a piece of the puzzle).   In Xcode3 there used to be a template to build "Droplet" Applications (head/nibless apps that would throw whatever dropped at them at an "on open" Applescript method). In Xcode4 this template is unfortunately gone. What are the required steps to setup an xcode4 droplet project? modify the info.plist i guess to make the app handle drops get rid of the nib (also involves changes in main.m and both AppDelegate.h and AppDelegate.m i guess) Maybe somebody even still has Xcode3 installed and could create an empty applescript droplet app and upload it somewhere? that would be very interesting. thanks! (or is there maybe even a way to export an app bundle created with the AppleScript Editor to Xcode?)

• How can I loop through posts as well as child pages to display them all by date in Wordpress 2.9

  Some background info -- In wordpress I have my portfolio as a parent page with each item of work a child page. I also have a blog. I want to display the most recent 6 items on the homepage whether they are from my portfolio or my blog. I have a loop that displays the posts and on another page I have a loop that displays the child pages of a specific parent page. I only need to display the_title and the_post_thumbnail. Is it possible to loop through both the posts and the child pages and display them in order of date (recent first). So the final display would be a mixture of posts and child pages. Could it be done by having a separate loop for pages and one for posts, then somehow adding the results to an array and then pull them out in date order (recent first). Any help would be greatful. • IIS 401.3 - Unauthorized on only 1 server out of 3 set up for network load balancing

  Over the weekend our Server Admin set up two virtual Windows 2008 machines with IIS installed and set them up under NLB. I came in and changed the application pool the website was running under to our domain account that has proper access to the database and the file share hosting our .NET web application Sitefinity, and changed it to .NET 4 Integrated. NLB and everything was running fine on both servers. He brought up the third server for our cluster on Tuesday and I performed the same actions.. The only difference was that I was given admin rights for the third server so I could set it up remotely instead of going to his office. He has full control over the share and NTFS perms on \\hostname\Sitefinity and I believe I only had read access. I pointed the web site to the same \\hostname\Sitefinity\sitename share that the others were on and the authentication/authorization test settings passed. I hit the site from http://localhost (like I did successfully from the other two before trying the cluster's IP address) and I received a HTTP Error 401.3 - Unauthorized. I've verified many times that the application pool is running under the same service account. I tried hitting just a simple test.htm.. works fine on both of the first two servers but I get the same 401.3 on the third. I copied my dev project to the local inetpub directory and re-pointed the website and that ran perfectly. I turned on Failed Request Tracing and it acts like it's still running the local IUSR account I guess (instead of my domain account)? (0x80070005) ---------- My personal AD account was then granted read/write perms to the share so I created a new application pool and set the site under it in case there was an issue with the application pool but no success. I created another under my own account and it still failed. It just seems like maybe it's not trying to access the files under the account my application pools are running under although that's the only way I've done things before. I set the Physicial Path Credentials in Advanced Settings on the site to the service account and it threw a 500 error of some sort so I assume that's not the answer (and I don't have to do it on the other servers). It's like somehow I'm trying to force impersonation on the IUSR account or something?

  Hello, I'm looking for an library/tool for .NET that logs almost everything that happens in my C# application (Windows Form). The problem is that I'm delivering an application to a client (Windows XP) and after doing some task, that classic Microsoft error window appears: "ApplicationName has encountered a problem and needs to close. We are sorry for the inconvenience" I'm currently handling my application exceptions, but this is something external and I can't get anything from that error, so I would like any automated library that helps me with that. It would work if it logs each line of code executed, orr just log what line was executing before that error appeared, or something that could give me more info about that error. Thank you! P.S: It's a multithreaded application, and have to Timer controls (one for watching a folder every 5secs, and another for watching thread list...). I'm using Windows 7 here and everything seems to work ok.
