  • Expanding on requestaudit - Tracing who is doing what...and for how long

    One of the most helpful tracing sections in WebCenter Content (and one that is on by default) is the requestaudit tracing.  This tracing section summarizes the top service requests happening in the server along with how they are performing.  By default, it has 2 different rotations.  One happens every 2 minutes (listing up to 5 services) and another happens every 60 minutes (listing up to 20 services).  These traces provide the total time for all the requests against that service along with the number of requests and its average request time.  This information can provide a good start in possibly troubleshooting performance issues or tracking a particular issue.   [Read More]

Mobile access enables social networking, decision support, purchasing, content consumption, and location-based searching, extending experiences beyond what is available in traditional desktop computing.  Organizations rushing to ensure their brand's mobile availability may have taken a tactical approach to implementation, but strategically approaching mobile can enable greater returns on a similar investment and subsequent mobile projects. Here are some strategic considerations for delivering products, services, and information to mobile constituents.  Who, Why, and What? Ask yourself these key questions: who are you attempting to engage through the channel, and why are they engaging you through this channel? What experience will satisfy their needs?   • Sometimes you have to brag on your employer

    A lot of you know me as an Application Lifecycle Management MVP, and a huge proponent of ALM, TFS, and Visual Studio.  For my day job, however, I work for Infront Consulting Group, a System Center consulting and training organization.  I love what I do there, and work closely with Operations Manager, Service Manager, and Orchestrator.  And believe it or not, use a lot of ALM best practices around all of those.   • How do I get Paypal or a merchant account for a marketplace style web site?

    I'm having trouble getting approved for a merchant account for my website. Basically I have expert users and users. Expert users provide a service through my website which they set their own rates. Users purchase the services, then pay me, I give 90% to the expert users. I have been told this is factoring.. Is the way around this, a system like freelancer.com does? Where users deposit money into their freelancer account, then pay for the services they won? What are the negatives to this system? What about sites like 99designs? They accept CC payments and then pay the winning designer. How are some sites doing this but I'm having so much trouble getting approved?

With a multibillion portfolio under management, AHMSI is one of the country's largest servicers of Alt-A and subprime loans. AHMSI implemented a public-facing secure Web portal using Oracle WebCenter Suite to help investors make informed decisions more quickly and automated much of the investor approval process AHMSI reduced the time needed to process loan modification from approximately 30 days to one week.  UsingOracle WebCenter Content AHMSI can now share strategic & sensitive content in compliance with the various governance regulations.  Company OverviewAmerican Home Mortgage Servicing Inc. provides services to homeowners and loan investors. Whether a borrower holds a traditional, Alt-A, payment option, or subprime loan, the company's highly trained experts are committed to providing high levels of service as they work to address each customer's needs.   • XAMPP: Deamon is already running, but it's NOT apache

    This one is giving me a headache... I have installed XAMPP for Linux 1.7.7 on Ubuntu 12.10. I haven't installed the latest version because of the new security "feature" which makes XAMPP so secure I can't get it running... But that's another story. After it installed and ran ok for a couple of months, I now get the famous "XAMPP: Another web server daemon is already running." error while starting XAMPP. Now I've googled extensively and can rule out the following: There is no other Apache installation, just XAMPP There are no apache or apache 2 services running There are no services running that use port 80 (checked with netstat -an grep -w 80) I have also done a fresh install of xampp 1.7.7, but that gives me the same result. I think I have tried every solution on the first two result-pages of google and am nowhere nearer to a solution. Can anyone give me pointers on how to find the mysterious "Webdeamon" that is already running?

  • First Windows Phone 7 &ndash; Mobile LOB App.

    So I spent a couple of hours yesterday building my first Windows 7 Phone Series. application.   I still can’t get used to saying Windows 7 Phone Series.   So I think I’ll just go with WP7.   I must say I’m really impressed.    Calling web-services a breeze laying out User Interface a very straight forward.   I had made called into Dynamics NAV using web-services in under 10 minutes. Working in XAML takes a bit of getting used to,  I’m not trying to-do anything too clever yet. One thing I will point out to transition from one XAML page to the next use this.NavigationService.Navigate(new Uri("/Primary.xaml", UriKind.Relative)); Going from Compact Framework this is equivalent of a Window.Show Its so nice to be able to talk nicely again, about Windows Based Mobile Development!

  • How can I have the passphrase for a private key remembered for a user?

    I have a collection of web services running on Ubuntu Server 12.04 that pull code from a github repository. These services run under a specific user (let's call that user 'example'). In /home/example/.ssh/is_rsa is the private key associated with the relevant github account. When performing an operation such as git pull I am greeted with: Enter passphrase for key '/home/simplytestable/.ssh/id_rsa':. Enter the correct password and all is ok. The same private key is present on local development Ubuntu Desktop 12.04 machines and no passphrase is asked for. I'd like to be able to have the passphrase remembered so that upon entering it once it is never asked for again. This will aid in automating various web service updates. I'm guessing that the passphrase needs to be stored in the relevant user's keychain such that I don't have to enter it every time the private key needs to be unlocked. How can I achieve this?

    I used to develop in Django/Python and Rails/Ruby (and before that C/C++ and C#), and I'm now at a job where we do enterprise Java development (Spring, Hibernate, RESTEasy, Maven, etc.) for web applications and web services. Coming from the Convention over Configuration world, what's the best way to get up to speed doing enterprise Java web services development? I know Java (the language) well, and I've written GUIs in Swing and basic JSP before, but nothing of the kind I'm doing now. Are there any recommended tutorials to get up to speed on popular Java enterprise development tutorials?

  • forked-daapd without avahi

    I'm trying to setup forked-daapd, but i'd prefer it if i could run it without avahi (or rather define my own avahi service instead of using the dbus api). The reason is that i want a netatalk share for my time machine backups and a samba share for the symbolic link support (netatalk doesn't support symlinks). Those two are defined as different services in avahi. To make that work, i have to disable avahi's dbus api, or else netatalk tends to take over all the services (osx prefers afp over smb). If I now try to start forked-daapd, it just doesn't. Forked-daapd requires avahi's dbus api to be enabled and running. Is there some sort of way around this limitation, so that i can manually define my own daap service in avahi. Maybe something like enabling but ignoring the dbus in avahi, or launching a duplicate avahi daemon with a different config file?
