  • Core Data vs. SQLitePersistentObjects

    I'm creating an iPhone app and I'm trying to choose between 2 solutions for a persistent store. Core Data, or SQLitePersistentObjects. Basically, all my app needs is a way to store an array of model objects and then load them again to display in a UITableView. Its nothing too complicated. Core Data seems to have a much higher learning curve than the simple to use SQLitePersistentObjects. Are there any obvious benefits of using Core Data over SQLitePersistentObjects in my case?

    Hi, How can I implement an autocomplete using redis? Say for example I have an array ["alfred","joel","jeff","addick"]. When I type a I get ["alfred", "addick"] I hope you get the point. How can I implement this using redis commands efficiently(if possible but I think it is). It would be great if I could get some simple commands I can try out via telnet to mimic this behaviour.   • What should I do or don't do to avoid Delphi "push dword" bug.

    I found that Delphi 5 generates invalid assembly code in specific cases. I can't understand in what cases in general. The example below produces access violation since a very strange optimization occurs. For a byte in a record or array Delphi generates push dword [...], pop ebx, mov .., bl that works correctly if there are data after this byte (we need at least three to push dword correctly), but fails if the data is inaccessible. I emulated the strict boundaries here with win32 Virtual* functions Specifically the error occurs when the last byte from the block accessed inside FeedBytesToClass procedure.     I'm looking for a way to automatically (as part of the compilation/build process) generate a "table" of function pointers in C. So, given a set of source files, each of which which contain a single function that takes no arguments and returns void, how would one automatically (as part of the build process) generate an array like the one above that contains each of the functions from the files? I'd like to be able to add new files and have them automatically inserted into the table when I re-compile. I realize that this probably isn't achievable using the C language or preprocessor alone, so consider any common *nix-style tools fair game (e.g. make, perl, shell scripts (if you have to)). But Why? You're probably wondering why anyone would want to do this. I'm creating a small test framework for a library of common mathematical routines. Under this framework, there will be many small "test cases," each of which has only a few lines of code that will exercise each math function. I'd like each test case to live in its own source file as a short function. All of the test cases will get built into a single executable, and the test case(s) to be run can be specified on the command line when invoking the executable. The main() function will search through the table and, if it finds a match, jump to the test case function. Automating the process of building up the "catalog" of test cases ensures that test cases don't get left out (for instance, because someone forgets to add it to the table) and makes it very simple for maintainers to add new test cases in the future (just create a new source file in the correct directory, for instance).   • Mapkit: Only show annotations in current view

    Instead of loading all annotations that are in my array, I would only like to load the annotations that the user could currently see cased on how far they are zoomed in on the map. So, if the user pans to a place where there are annotations, those would be added, and if they pan away, those would be removed. I assume this would help with memory. Does anyone know how to do something like this? And, is it worth it, or needed?

    Hello, My application gets configured via a lot of key/values (let's say 30.000 for instance) I want to find the best deployment method for these configurations, knowing that I want to avoid DEFINEs to allow for runtime re-configuration. I have thought of - pre-compiling them into an array via a php file - pre-compiling them into a tmpfs sqlite database - pre-compiling them into a memcached db what are my options for the best random access time to these configuration (memory is not an issue) ?     Hi All, I am having following issue with reading binary file in C. I have read the first 8 bytes of a binary file. Now I need to start reading from the 9th byte. Following is the code: fseek(inputFile, 2*sizeof(int), SEEK_SET); However, when I print the contents of the array where I store the retrieved values, it still shows me the first 8 bytes which is not what I need. How do you decide when to do which? It seems that if you use a partial for every iterable object you will end up having to modify tons of separate files to make changes to potentially one view.
