    hey all , background - I'm using an activx that allow me to access some information on the client side, By using the activex events and callback i'm updating server side from client. i wrote a user control that register all activex's events so when one of the events occuer there is a callback to the server that handle this event. I need to write some other user controls based on this control so on every callback this user controls will be render on the client side. My question is - what is the best way to make a shared infrastructure that handle this events and render the right content base on user controls? is there any other ways i can use ? thanks!

    In my web.config I have the following: <customErrors mode="RemoteOnly" defaultRedirect="/error.aspx"/> When an error occurs, the user is redirected to /error.aspx?aspxerrorpath=/somepage where I can get user's name, name of the page, date, but... I can't get the error message! I can get it via the OnException method, but then I won't be able to get the name of the page which is very important for me. How can I get both the page and the error message?

    On my master page I have: <link rel="stylesheet" href="css/default.css" /> I also have a page "blog.aspx" in the root directory. I have the rule: <rewrite url="~/blog/blog.aspx" to="~/blog.aspx" /> My questions are: Am I meant to make all my links in my site point to blog/blog.aspx now instead of just blog.aspx where it is physically located How is best to cope with the paths of the stylesheets etc now being messed up because they are one dir up?

  • Question about inserting/updating rows with MS SQL (ASP.NET MVC)

    I have a very big table with a lot of rows, every row has stats for every user for certain days. And obviously I don't have any stats for future. So to update the stats I use UPDATE Stats SET Visits=@val WHERE ... a lot of conditions ... AND Date=@Today But what if the row doesn't exist? I'd have to use INSERT INTO Stats (...) VALUES (Visits=@val, ..., Date=@Today) How can I check if the row exists or not? Is there any way different from doing the COUNT(*)? If I fill the table with empty cells, it'd take hundreds of thousands of rows taking megabytes and storing no data.

    Hi, I currently have 3 textbox controls on my page. I also have a required valdiator of each of the textboxes. However I only want the validator for a textbox to fire if there is text in either of the other 2 textboxes. If all 3 textboxes are empty then no validators should fire. Is there any way I can do this in javascript/jquery as I want the user to get the best experience possible. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.

    Hi, In VS2003, I am trying to find out the particular page where the request is coming from. I want to identify the exact aspx page name. Is there a way to only get the page name or some how strip the page name? Currently I am using the following instruction... string referencepage = HttpContext.Current.Request.UrlReferrer.ToString(); and I get the following result... "http://localhost/MyPage123.aspx?myval1=3333&myval2=4444; I want to get the result back with out any query string parameters and be able to identify the page MyPage123.aspx accurately...     Hi everybody. i'm using jquery 1.3.2, and have a problem in situatsuin where i fill select via getJson $.each(data, function() { $("#select_elem").append("<option value='"+this.Value+"'>" + this.Value + "</option>"); }); and after, when i try to get selected value : var sel_val = $("#select_elem"); alert(sel_val.val()); in IE it works, in FF it always shows the first value in list, in chrome it's always null. is there any way to fix this?   • I can't find the homepage for my ASP.NET MVC site :(

    Hi folks, really simple question here. when I remove the default route, I returns an empty page to the browser :- routes.MapRoute( "Default", // Route name "{controller}/{action}/{id}", // URL with parameters new { controller = "Home", action = "Index", id = UrlParameter.Optional } ); Now before everyone starts shouting "that's because that's the default route to access all action methods, etc.." .. i know that. My question is - what code / routes does the default framework try and call .. which makes that Default Route get used/kick in? Why? I don't wish to make that my default route regex (don't ask why - this is some R&D) but I still need the main home page .. ie. Home/Index . If i try and just add that route, it doesn't get called and an empty page is returned. So -- what does the framework try and call when a user doesn't provide any urls? It's like there's some secret default document stuff set up? Cheers :)
