ASP.NET MVC - Disable Html Helper control using boolean value from Model

I am outputting a textbox to the page using the Html helpers. I want to add the disabled attribute dynamically based on whether or not a boolean value in my model is true or false. My model has a method that returns a boolean value: <% =Model.IsMyTextboxEnabled() %> I currently render the textbox like follows, but I want to now enabled or disable it: <% =Html.TextBox("MyTextbox", Model.MyValuenew { id = "MyTextbox", @class = "MyClass" })%> If the return value of Model.IsMyTextboxEnabled() == true I want the following to be output: <input class="MyClass" id="MyTextbox" name="MyTextbox" type="text" value="" /> If it == false, I want it to output as: <input class="MyClass" id="MyTextbox" name="MyTextbox" type="text" value="" disabled /> What is the cleanest way to do this?

EF2: Is there a way to add an Entity to EntityCollection without having to load related Entity?

I can set an EntityReference on an entity without having to load the relevent entity as follows: this.CategoryReference.EntityKey = new EntityKey("MyEntities.CategorySet", "Id", 12); So I can set the Category for the entity I'm dealing with to whatever category has id 12 without having to hit the database. But is there a way to do this or something similar on an EntityCollection? So if I now have multiple categories instead of just one, I want to now do something like the following, though it doesn't work: // stand-in category var categoryStandIn = new Category { EntityKey = new EntityKey("MyEntities.CategorySet", "Id", 12) } this.Categories.Add(categoryStandIn);

Test iPhone in-app purchases on a different bundle?

We have a group of beta testers for iPhone app. Recently, we added in-app purchases to the app. Before this, we would send out ad hoc builds to beta testers using a separate bundle ID and name so that they could have the store build and the ad hoc build on their phones. However, it seems like we have to build the ad hoc copy with the same Bundle ID to test in-app purchases, and this means we can't send out a seperate beta copy - our beta file (annoyingly) overwrites the user's store-bought app. Is there any way to test in-app purchases in a different bundle ID? Do I need to set up fake, test in-app purchases for the test build too?

I want to send an AJAX POST, but I want the url that the data is sent to, to be derived from the id of the element that was clicked. This is what I have so far: I have written a javascript function (get_my_url) that returns a url, depending on the element id that was passed to the function. LINQ-to-SQL and SQL Compact - database file sharing problem

Hello. I'm learing LINQ-to-SQL right now and i have wrote a simple application that define SQL data: [Table( Name = "items" )] public class Item { [ Column( IsPrimaryKey = true, IsDbGenerated = true ) ] public int Id; [ Column ] public string Name; } I have launched 2 copy of application connected to the same .sdf file and tested if all database modifications in one application affects another application. But strange thing arise. If i use InsertOnSubmit() and DeleteOnSubmit() in one application, added/removed items are instantly visible in other application via 'select' LINQ queue. But if i try to modify 'Name' field in one application, it is NOT visible in other applicaton until it reconnects the database :(. The test code i use: var Items = from c in db.Items where Id == c.Id select c; foreach( var Item in Items ) { Item.Name = "new name"; break; } db.SubmitChanges(); Can anyone suggest what i'm doing wrong and why InsertOnSubmit()/DeleteOnSubmit works and SubmitChanges() don't?

I've been trying to get a delete to cascade and it just doesn't seem to work. I'm sure I am missing something obvious, can anyone help me find it? Mysql query different group by

Hello i have a products table that contains normal products and configurable product It has a basic stucture of: id name price configurable ('yes', 'no') id_configuration Normal products have configurable no and 0 as id configuration, and configurable products have it set to yes and have the same id_configuration value. The current query is: SELECT `products`.* FROM `products`, `categories`, `product_categories` WHERE `categories`.`id` = 23 AND `products`.`id` = `product_categories`.`id_product` AND `categories`.`id` = `product_categories`.`id_category` AND `products`.`active` = 'yes' AND ORDER BY `pos_new` ASC, `created` DESC LIMIT 0,20 I was wondering if there is a way to group by id_configuration, but only for the configurable products. The reason is that i want only one of the configuration products to show in search. I was thinking i could do a join, but was wondering if there is a way to do some kind of special group by. For example for configurable yes the field should be id_configuration otherwise it should be the id field Thanks a lot for any sugestions

New hire expectations... (Am I being unreasonable?)

I work for a very small custom software shop. We currently consist me and my boss. My boss is an old FoxPro DOS developer and OOP makes him uncomfortable. He is planning on taking a back seat in the next few years to hopefully enjoy a “partial retirement”. I will be taking over the day to day operations and we are now desperately looking for more help. We tried Monster.com, Dice.com, and others a few years ago when we started our search. We had no success. We have tried outsourcing overseas (total disaster), hiring kids right out of college (mostly a disaster but that’s where I came from), interns (good for them, not so good for us) and hiring laid off “experienced” developers (there was a reason they were laid off). I have heard hiring practices discussed on podcasts, blogs, etc... and have tried a few. The “Fizz Buzz” test was a good one. One kid looked physically ill before he finally gave up. I think my problem is that I have grown so much as a developer since I started here that I now have a high standard. I hear/read very intelligent people podcasts and blogs and I know that there are lots of people out there that can do the job. I don’t want to settle for less than a “good” developer. Perhaps my expectations are unreasonable. I expect any good developer (entry level or experienced) to be billable (at least paying their own wage) in under one month. I expect any good developer to be able to be productive (at least dangerous) in any language or technology with only a few days of research/training. I expect any good developer to be able to take a project from initial customer request to completion with little or no help from others. Am I being unreasonable? What constitutes a valuable developer? What should be expected of an entry level developer? What should be expected of an experienced developer? I realize that everyone is different but there has to be some sort of expectations standard, right? I have been giving the test project below to potential canidates to weed them out. Good idea? Too much? Too little? Please let me know what you think. Thanks. I would like to use a loop and doing something like this: var arrayOfResults = $.results..div.p does not work because I only want to retrieve the p value for the div element with class "sT". So how do I construct my JSONpath so that it will retrive the array of p elements that are contained within the divs class "sT". Thanks!!

Basic Login Script using php and mysql inquiry

Attempting to write a check for a login script to see if the username is available. Would the best way to write this query be to check if isset(!_POST[]) for both values (nick and pass) then connect to database WHERE the mysql database for the usernick requested return the user id if the usernick exists evaluate if isset($id) to see if the user name is taken and use that to continue to creating an entry Does this logically sound like a method to check for login without using excessive code sorry for not posting the code, it is on another computer and this computer is locked down by my administrator at work... Also, is there another way to evaluate if a value exists in the database? For instance, instead of setting $id to the return value of the mysql database can i just ping the mysql database for the information and have it return a Boolean result so I am not putting out any user information.
