  • Permission denial to read from emailprovider in android

    Hello Everyone, I've the problem when I want to read "com.android.email.provider" to get email accounts. Here is my code to retrieve the account : Cursor c = null; Uri CONTENT_URI = Uri.parse("content://com.android.email.provider/account"); String RECORD_ID = "_id"; String[] ID_PROJECTION = new String[] {RECORD_ID }; c = getContentResolver().query(CONTENT_URI,ID_PROJECTION,null, null, null); I get a security exception: java.lang.SecurityException: Permission Denial: reading com.android.email.provider.EmailProvider uri content://com.android.email.provider/account from pid=278, uid=10003 requires com.android.email.permission.ACCESS_PROVIDER I want to know the account is created or not in some other app. Is there any other way to resolve this so that I can read from the provider. I have also tried by adding the permission in manifest: That dint not help. Any solution would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance

    Hello All I would like to develop such iphone application that provides functionality to download viedo. i am doing some as below 1) Loading HTML content on web view 2) The loaded html content contains the video link (i.e http://test.com/test.mp4") 3) When i click on that it will play the video in native player. 4) but i would like to prevent this thing and start downloading video from that URL for example, if i click on link it should not open native video player, it should start downloading from that url and store somewhere on iphone (i.e document directory) is there any solution for same?   • Practical guide to programming paradigms ?

    I think I might be misunderstanding the whole thing and I am looking for some programming wisdom. When faced with a programming challenge, I feel the most important question is "which programming paradigm(s) are better suited to handle it, and how to apply them". A distant second is "which language to use". Yet it seems that most of the programming related content I stumble upon on the Internet has it exactly backwards and focuses mostly on the language choice. An object-oriented solution is fundamentaly the same, whether it's implemented in c++, Java or PHP... So where is the paradigm centered content? Where is the "practical guide to programming paradigms and implementations" and other literature helping bringing real-world and programming concepts together? Note: I already know about "Programming Paradigms for Dummies: What Every Programmer Should Know" from Peter Van Roy.

  • Google maps API - info window height and panning

    I'm using the Google maps API (v2) to display a country overlay over a world map. The data comes from a KML file, which contains coords for the polygons along with a HTML description for each country. This description is displayed in the 'info window' speech bubble when that country is clicked on. I had some trouble initially as the info windows were not expanding to the size of the HTML content they contained, so the longer ones would spill over the edges (this seems to be a common problem). I was able to work around this by resetting the info window to a specific height as follows: GEvent.addListener(map, "infowindowopen", function(iw) { iw = map.getInfoWindow(); iw.reset(iw.getPoint(), iw.getTabs(), new GSize(300, 295), null, null); }); Not ideal, but it works. However now, when the info windows are opened the top part of them is sometimes obscured by the edges of the map, as the map does not pan to a position where all of the content can be viewed. So my questions: Is there any way to get the info windows to automatically use a height appropriate to their content, to avoid having to fix to a set pixel height? If fixing the height is the only option, is there any way to get the map to pan to a more appropriate position when the info windows open? I know that the map class has a panTo() method, but I can't see a way to calculate what the correct coords would be. I want to check on it if a deletion has occurred on the said URI... but there is no way of knowing...this seems to apply on a query/delete/insert/update on said URI that triggers the onChange method.... any tips/suggestions?

  • How often are comments used in XML documents?

    I'm currently developing a web-based XML managing program for a client (though I may 'market' it for future clients). Currently, it reads an XML document, converts it into manageable Javascript objects, and ultimately spits out indented, easy to read XML code. Edit: The program would be used by clients that don't feel like learning XML to add items or tags, but I (or another XML developer) may use the raw data for quick changes without using an editor. I feel like fundamentally, its ready for release, but I'm wondering if I should go the extra mile and allow support for remembering (and perhaps making) comments before generating the resulting XML. Considering that these XML files will probably never be read without a program interpreting it, should I really bother adding support for comments? I'll probably be the only one looking at raw files, and I usually don't use comments for XML anyway. So, are comments common/important in most XML documents?

  • Extending QuickBooks Reporting with the QuickBooks ADO.NET Data Provider

    The ADO.NET Provider for QuickBooks comes with several reports you may request from QuickBooks by default. However, there are many more that are not readily available. The ADO.NET Provider for QuickBooks makes it easy for you to create new reports and customize existing ones. In this article, we will illustrate how to create your own report and retrieve it from the Server Explorer in Visual Studio. For this example we will show how to create an Item Profitability Report. Creating the report script file Step 1: Download the sample reports available here. Extract them to a folder of your choice. Step 2: Make a copy of the ReportGeneralSummary.rsd file and rename it to ItemProfitability.rsd. Then open the file in any text editor. Step 3: Open the installation directory of the ADO.NET Provider for QuickBooks. Under the \db\ folder, locate the ReportJob.rsb file. Open this file in another text editor. Note: Although we are using ReportJob.rsb for this example, other reports may be contained in other Report*.rsb files. We recommend consulting the included help file and first locating the Report stored procedure and ReportType you are looking for. Otherwise, you may open each Report*.rsb file and look under the "reporttype" input for the report you are attempting to create. Step 4: First, let's rename the title of ItemProfitability.rsd. Near the top of the file you will see a title and description. Change the title to match the name of the file. Change the description to anything you like. For example: <rsb:info title="ItemProfitability" description="Executes my custom report."> Just below the Title, there are a number of columns. The Id represents the row number. The RowType represents the type of data returned by QuickBooks. The ColumnValue* columns represent all of the column data returned by QuickBooks. In some instances, we may need to add additional ColumnValue columns. Step 5: To add additional ColumnValue columns, simply copy the last column, paste it directly below, and continue increasing the numerical value at end of the attribute name. For example: <attr name="ColumnValue9" xs:type="string" readonly="true" required="false" desc="Represents a column of data."/> <attr name="ColumnValue10" xs:type="string" readonly="true" required="false" desc="Represents a column of data."/> <attr name="ColumnValue11" xs:type="string" readonly="true" required="false" desc="Represents a column of data."/> <attr name="ColumnValue12" xs:type="string" readonly="true" required="false" desc="Represents a column of data."/> ... Caution: Do not rename the ColumnValue* definitions themselves. They are generalized so that we can understand each type of report returned by QuickBooks. Renaming them to something other than ColumnValue* will cause your columns to return with null values. Step 6: Now let's update the available inputs for the table. From the ReportJob.rsb file, copy all of the input elements into ItemProfitability under the "Psuedo-Column definitions" comment. You will be replacing the existing input elements in ItemProfitability with inputs from ReportJob. When you are done, it should look like this: <!-- Psuedo-Column definitions --> <input name="reporttype" description="The type of the report." value="ITEMESTIMATESVSACTUALS,ITEMPROFITABILITY,JOBESTIMATESVSACTUALSDETAIL,JOBESTIMATESVSACTUALSSUMMARY,JOBPROFITABILITYDETAIL,JOBPROFITABILITYSUMMARY," default="ITEMESTIMATESVSACTUALS" /> <input name="reportperiod" description="Report date range in the format (fromdate:todate), and either value may be omitted for an open ended range (e.g. 2009-12-25:). Supported date format: yyyy-MM-dd." /> <input name="reportdaterangemacro" description="Use a predefined date range." value="ALL,TODAY,THISWEEK,THISWEEKTODATE,THISMONTH,THISMONTHTODATE,THISQUARTER,THISQUARTERTODATE,THISYEAR,THISYEARTODATE,YESTERDAY,LASTWEEK,LASTWEEKTODATE,LASTMONTH,LASTMONTHTODATE,LASTQUARTER,LASTQUARTERTODATE,LASTYEAR,LASTYEARTODATE,NEXTWEEK,NEXTFOURWEEKS,NEXTMONTH,NEXTQUARTER,NEXTYEAR," default="ALL" /> ... Step 7: Now let's update the operationname attribute. This needs to match the same operationname used by ReportJob. After you have copied the correct value from ReportJob.rsb, the operationname in ItemProfitability should look like so: <rsb:set attr="operationname" value="qbReportJob"/> Step 8: There is one more thing we can do to make this a true Item Profitability report. We can remove the reporttype input and hardcode the value. To do this, copy and paste the rsb:set used for operationname. Then rename the attr and value to match the name and value you want to use. For example: <rsb:set attr="operationname" value="qbReportJob"/> <rsb:set attr="reporttype" value="ITEMPROFITABILITY"/> After this you can remove the input for reporttype. Now that you have your own report file, we can move on to displaying the report in the Visual Studio server explorer. Accessing the report through the Data Provider Step 1: Open Visual Studio. In the Server Explorer, configure a new connection with the QuickBooks Data Provider. Step 2: For the Location connection string property, enter the directory where the new report has been saved to. Step 3: The new report should appear as a new view in the Server Explorer. Let's retrieve data from it. Step 4: You can specify any inputs in the WHERE clause. New Report Example Script To help you get started using this new QuickBooks Data Provider report, you will need to download the QuickBooks ADO.NET Data Provider and the fully functional sample script.

  • 2 questions about drag and drop with Javascript

    Hello, I'm trying to be able to drag random highlighted text or images on a random page that is not written by me, thus I cannot simply wrap the text in a div and make it draggable. Is there any way to get highlighted text or images on a random page, like say Yahoo, and drop it into a container that can recognize what was being dropped into it (like content and content-type) without it even being an explicitly declared draggable? I've been playing with jQuery, but can't figure it out. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Regards, David

  • Skia Decoder fails to decode remote Stream

    I am trying to open a remote Stream of a JPEG image and convert it into a Bitmap object: BitmapFactory.decodeStream( new URL("http://some.url.to/source/image.jpg") .openStream()); The decoder returns null and in the logs I get the following message: DEBUG/skia(xxxx): --- decoder->decode returned false Note: 1. the content length is non-zero and content type is image/jpeg 2. When I open the URL in browser I can see the image. What is that I am missing here? Please help. Thanks.

  • Sticky Footer Dilemma - so close

    I have an effective sticky footer solution, but I have a slight conflict because of the need for a background image in addition to the repeating banner image across the top. In order to make the large watermark type image show up on this site I added the following div: <div id="body-outer"> The only problem is that once I add this div tag, the footer climbs up the page, overriding all content in its path. If I remove that div, the footer is as sticky as one could hope. Is there some way to have the background image and the sticky footer too?     I have added my mount devices in /etc/fstab and they get correctly mounted (2nd partition with ntfs and nas-share with nfs). I have also disabled automount in Nautilus preferences by using dconf-editor (following this post): user@server:~$ gsettings list-recursively org.gnome.desktop.media-handling org.gnome.desktop.media-handling automount false org.gnome.desktop.media-handling automount-open false org.gnome.desktop.media-handling autorun-never false Now i see every mount device twice in Nautilus (the entry in fstab already mounted). When clicking on the other entry i get the eligible message mount.nfs: /media/nas_share is busy or already mounted How i can i disable the appearente of those devices in Nautilus? EDIT Regarding automount: I have only one line in /etc/auto.master: +auto.master

  • How to make an Android UI with images from a designer delivered as layers

    I hired a designer to help me redesign the UI for my Android app. For each Activity he gave me an image for the background, which includes any static content like fancy frames for text content; plus images for the buttons, which must fit in to the background image in exact places, to fit into the frames in the background image. However, since Android devices have different screen sizes and aspect ratios, it's easy to fit the background image by itself with android:scaleType="centerInside", but how can I get all the other images to fit in with background exactly, to the pixel? If they didn't have to fit in with the background, I would just set the exact width and height for each ImageButton, but depending on how the background scales (based on the screen size and ratio) they might end up not aligned correctly.     Step 1: I wanted to Add a menu as "Compress as ZIP" on right click. I know i can use change default compress format as "ZIP" using gconf-editor. But I wanted to add a new Menu Item for Compressing as ZIP without opening any other option dialog. Step 2: I wanted to Compress a file as ZIP and Rename it as a "epub". Please let me know is it possible to zip&rename by adding single menu Item? Im using Ubuntu 11.04 and Installed "Nautilus-Action-Configurations", but unsuccessful. N.B. I have read this Ask Ubuntu Q&A; I dont want to open a new window to choose me the format. It should be straight away saved as ZIP.
